harusaki has had me in a grip for... about two years and ten months now? theres a good reason i made a fake event set for them! i think theyre very cute and theres things about them that can make me explode (the parallels.)

A ship I have with said character: I, as you will find out through these asks, am not much of a shipper. I think he's very shippable though, and I enjoy seeing people write him in relationships. Good stuff. I've also thought about Rennala/Mohg in recent times, just because im a filthy rarepair enjoyer. But yeah, no big ship I enjoy for him. All of them are still pretty cool though.

A BROTP I have with said character: Morgott probably. Though, I think him interacting with any of demigod siblings is VERY fun. He sort of just clicks with all of them and imagining interactions between them is again very fun. Mostly refering to fanon land I live in here since fromsoftware only feeds me scraps :|

Bdubs is Scar's biggest enabler and also his biggest hater. The fact that Bdubs can go along with so many of Scar's strangest ideas, while at the same time calling him out for them being stupid is art all by itself. The fact that he just cant hold himself away from Scar's little schemes in like, every single one of Life series pretty much is also a little. 🤨🏳️‍🌈❓ The way Scar also goes back to Bdubs almost always, knowing that he "has ahold of him"(bdubs' words) is just beautiful. They just work too good with each other. Bdubs knows that Scar depends on him "falling" for his silly schemes and Scar knows that Bdubs knows they are silly. Silliness all over. Also Scar ate him in season 5? you know,

Grumbo! I do not ship it

1.All respect to Grumbo shippers out there but I hc Grian as aromantic and im a lot more into other ships with Mumbo that Grumbo just never seemed all that interesting romantically to me.

2. I Don't think there's anything that will make me like it on itself, I will read it grumbo if it is in Mumscarian however. Im not super invested in romance between them, or scarian for that matter, but even without romance their dynamic is really rich. Also im a strong believer that anything you can read as romantic could be platonic if you mean it that way so you know. I would just see it that way usually!

3. I think its a very fun ship! I have seen season 6 from both of their perspectives. They are not normal about each other! I prefer to read it as just two really close friends being weird about each other and having fun with it, but i could see them romantic!

well, look, the obvious answer would be those j*hnlock truthers, and i do hope those tjlc people are having a wretched day rn wherever they are, but ACTUALLY im actually choosing atla for this just to say (sorry) i hate zu//kka SO MUCH. i hate it so much, it's unreal. i don't particularly have beef with the shippers necessarily but i think the concept is so fucking lame. it's a classic case of migratory slash fandom paired with a side of misogyny. the thought process goes like "zuko is rotting holes in my brain > want to ship him with someone > i don't want to ship him with a female character > the only one left is sokka." (even though suki is right there.) aang is out on the basis of being a baby and the rest of the gaang is girls. if you don't like zutara that's fine, but sokka/zuko is the SAME THING with less anger issues and less women. katara is kind of a devisive character to begin with (this is misogyny) but then one time i saw someone deride zutara for being "straight" to reason why shipping zuko with sokka was superior and i have never forgiven it. i'm not doing this one or your other one for spn bc someone else sent in these exact numbers so i am choosing teen wolf. what im gonna say is so controversial but it's actually peter hale and it's not even fanon that did this IT'S CANON. i used to be a big peter fan and then it got completely ruined. ok so peter's whole thing, right, is that he's a deeply horrible person and that kate argent burned every molecule of humanity out of him during the hale fire. okay, got it. fuck yeah. that's rad. SO WHY THEN. IN THE SEASON 3 FLASHBACK EPISODE. WAS HE ACTING EXACTLY THE SAME AS HE DID AS AN ADULT. and this was the one thing that fanon was getting RIGHT. pre-fire versions of peter in fic were wildly different to post-fire versions BECAUSE THAT WAS THE IMPLICATION. peter works perfectly as a villain because his actions are reprehensible but his motives are justified which makes him COMPLEX and with one episode they RUINED IT. it speaks to a larger problem of jeff davis backtracking a lot of stuff that was said or implied in season 1 (such as kate preying on derek when he was underage) for censorship or what the fuck ever. now whenever i see peter in anything the only thing i wanna do is roll my eyes. they made him like him for ten whole minutes in 6A and that was the best it ever got again. sorry to peter hale fans.

i won't list my teenwolf rarepair here, but that. oh, wait, actually, my ff13 rarepair. fang & lightning are WAY BETTER than fang & vanille. this on the basis of 1. hot. that section where you can do double commando. sexy. 2. everyone keeps calling vanille a kid and it weirds me out to ship her with someone who calls her that/thinks of her that way 3. lightning/fang is sort of the same dynamic as lightning/snow which i love in a NONROMANTIC way in that lightning is the straight man, very stoic, and fang is so flippant and casual about everything and so open with her emotions that it gets on her nerves until it becomes endearing. and theyre both quite In Charge generally so when lightning is like well every monster is one step closer to rescuing vanille they keep each other going in that same way, out of sheer stubbornness. anyway 10/10 ship dynamic i completely understand and respect fang/vanille fans but i wish fang/lightning got the same amt of attention

(also,, i really don't think there was any sexual tension in atla?? since romance was mainly a backburner aspect of plot?? and they were kids?? to each their own interpretation, i guess?? im?? anyways lmao)

but to answer your main question... im really not sure? generally speaking, canon pairings are bitched about when there is a fairly popular/active fanon pairing in the same fandom. obvious example: k@taang vs zvtara. k@taang is more popular, because more casual viewers of atla ship k@taang. plus, since k@taang was a well-executed ship*, it again tends to have more fans (however active or not in fandom). however, zvtara is also very popular! there's a reason the zvtara fandom still lives - they have a lot of content creators making awesome content! so when you've got opposing ships like that, you tend to have ship wars. but the bitching about canon (specifically in the atla fandom) comes from zvtara shippers who think zvtara should have been canon. im pretty sure most zvtara shippers ignore them (because they're plenty smart enough to recognize k@taang as a core of atla, lmao) and have fun with their own fanon, but unfortunately, the "zvtara was robbed" narrative is perpetuated by a very loud group, however small, hence plenty of bitching about canon ensues. thus, the "[insert ship here] was robbed" narrative seems to incite a majority of complaints about canon pairings, at least in my experience.

that said, your "friend" was talking about a rarepair, which is a much less common experience. i ship a lot of rarepairs and have the sense to acknowledge that they'll never be/are not canon, lol. it's possible they were just looking for something to complain/fight about, anon - again, you're probably better off without that toxicity!

*not saying people have to ship or even like k@taang, duh, but it was well-implemented into the show and people who adamantly insist otherwise... possess questionable opinions at best.
