that moment in tlh when annabeth has an exact timestamp down to the second for just how long she'd been looking for percy makes me wonder if she always has an internal clock for everything. and like. this is further reinforced when she's timed percy's morning routine with a minute to spare in cotg. or in tlt!book when she used physics to calculate the best time to jump off the boat in the thrill ride of love. call it "scheduling" and "time management" if you wanna. all i'm saying is owls have an internal biological clock and it isn't improbable to assume annabeth inherited that trait from her mother, the patron of owls herself.

It's a dark sort of irony. It's almost poetic justice, even if it's cruel and unfair because Harry truly did nothing yet he's being punished. But so too did Severus do nothing yet lived his entire life in punishment.

And here's the thing. If James hadn't started it, Sirius wouldn't have either. Severus wouldn't have been bullied that badly. And while he always did have a liking to the dark arts, if he didn't have the trauma of the marauders abuse, he may well have eventually decided on his own that while he liked the dark arts he didn't need to join the death eaters. And here's the thing: James and the marauders essentially did to him what the Slytherins did to muggleborns, just without using the word Mudblood. If the supposed 'good guys' were no better than the 'bad guys' then it almost justifies him wanting to join the death eaters, at least they had a purpose. If James hadn't bullied him, maybe he would have been less able to justify the actions of his classmates because then the bad/good divide would be obvious. And if he hadn't joined the death eaters, he wouldn't have told Voldemort the prophecy. And if he hadn't done that, maybe no one would have, and there wouldn't have been any need to hunt the Potters, because the prophecy was canonically nonsense. It wouldn't have come true at all. None of it was real. But Voldemort heard it and believed it and caused it to happen. If no one told Voldemort about it, he wouldn't have hunted the Potters. James and Lily would have lived. Harry wouldn't have grown up abused by his uncle and aunt for just existing, have grown up being bullied and hated just because he existed.

James Potter ended up creating that fate for his son. Harry literally paid the price for James's sins.

Emma just told Killian she and Henry will leave again, and if that wouldn't be hard enough, he's presented with this wholesome family moment...

Look at that genuine smile, feeling happy for them, turning into a sad expression, being immediately reminded of not just what he doesn't have and probably never will — a family, but also of all the connections he'll soon lose yet again...

Because ever since their shared adventures in Neverland bonds had been knit, and not just with Emma — David had started to warm up, and he developed a caring, mentoring relationship with Henry after Neal's death.

The longing to be a part of them has never been more present...

He knows that they'll be apart the same way they were, when Emma and Henry had to stay, whereas he and everyone else was sent back to the Enchanted Forest a year ago. And even though David and Snow would stay in Storybrooke, they've a newborn to take care of and it wouldn't help curing his aching heart, either.

Making things worse, he once had thought it would be easy to just again become, who he was before meeting Emma and her family, but it was too late...His hardened heart had already softened.

He tried to pretend to be the same villainous pirate, in the end his real morale compass and awoken conscience made it impossible to continue being this person without feeling regret, though...

And he knows that the cycle is about to repeat itself as soon as Emma and Henry leave — the cycle that he'll end up all alone again, this time feeling ten times worse, though, because he's not ruthless Captain Hook anymore...

What's something from the show that's made it's way inextricably into your understanding of WoT as a whole?

Could be a visual detail from the effects/costuming/design, could be a actor's portrayal or appearance, could be a world detail, or a minor character's expanded backstory or characterization- just something from the show that you now are gonna have in the back of your mind when you re-read.

I have a LOT of these, but the biggest one has got to be the channeling special effects. It has just utterly changed what I imagine when I read the books now (and made me realize that what I was picturing previously wasn't actually all that in line with what Jordan describes).

something about Interior Chinatown that scratches the itch to me is how perfectly meta the casting is. Willis first gets the precinct’s spotlight as Tech guy; Jimmy O. Yang was Tech guy for six seasons on Silicon Valley. Fatty goes viral because his frustration is ‘funny’ to white people, meanwhile Ronny Chieng does stand-up. Lana is treated as the precinct’s connection to Chinatown in Black & White and secures her spot when she busts out her fighting know-how, and she’s portrayed by Chloe Bennet who was team muscle and a token (fictional) minority member for seven seasons on Agents of SHIELD. They got the perfect people to deliver these characters on-screen because they’ve been there. Casting directors, i love you.

au where emilie doesn't "go missing." gabriel fully believes in his plan to bring her back with the black cat and ladybug miraculous, so he doesn't want to fill out a police report and label her as missing as it would both put more attention on him as well as make it more difficult to explain her disappearance when he brought her back.

instead, he stages a tour for her. she's taking a break from her acting career to focus on the gabriel brand, traveling the world to learn about different cultures and their clothing for a new line they'll be releasing.

the press is excited, conspiring and making predictions about which countries will be included. many people wonder why emilie decided to make such a stark career change so suddenly, but no one really questions it as suspicious.

adrien, who has seen his mother less and less over the past few months. adrien, who has been nervous to speak to his father ever since his irritation has spiked. adrien, who can't remember the last time he had a meal with both of his parents. adrien, whose only friend is chloe.

he begins to think. all the times his mother left for months to film a new movie, his father burying himself in his work for days on end, adrien being left in the care of his parent's assistants while they filled their schedules as much as possible — keeping busy and far away from one another.

he wonders if he's just be oblivious this entire time, if his family has been drifting apart and he's been forced into photo shoots and advertisements as a way to keep him distracted from it all. he notices the way his father looks longingly each time they pass a portrait of his mother, as though he's lost something, and the way natalie's eyes soften when she notices as well.

he stops asking his father why he didn't tell him about the new line. he stops asking his father why he can't call his mother, why she won't call him either. when he comes across his father sitting at his desk, holding his wedding ring is hand and looking at a framed photo of their family, he stops asking questions all together.

adrien doesn't know much, but he has a strong feeling his mother isn't coming back.

Raven gets seriously hurt on a mission to the point where the ac has to autopilot back, and Walter gets down there because his one of a kind, 'best mercenary ever' that he accidentally pulled out of a human bargain bin is very badly injured and he's gotta try to do something.

He gets the core open and Raven's unconscious. And completely covered in Coral. And it's, if not actually fixing them, at least stabilizing them. Because Ayre's not willing to just let them die either.

And there's a minute of. Hey, that's not supposed to happen, Coral doesn't just. Do that. before his brain kicks back into gear and he drags Raven off to whatever passes as a medical area.

Then. Once Raven's up. They are gonna have a conversation about. 'Hey so that’s 100% Not Normal' v 'yeah I told you, that was the voice in my head, she said she was helping'

And then Walter just. nods. leaves. calls Carla. 'hey so I think I'm losing it but-'

okay i'm glad to see you bring up the teasing of seungmin bc it was also rubbing me the wrong way but i didn't know if i was just being sensitive or what. obvs we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and obviously they all care about each other and tease each other as friends but when time after time the joke targeted towards seungmin is "we don't like him and he doesn't understand things" it's like. hm. it starts to feel mean spirited!!

Yeah, tbf I think it's just one of those things where even if Seungmin is 100% unbothered by it, and the guys dont mean anything by it, its still fine and understandable for people who have ever been on the end of jokes like that- whether in your own friend groups or at school, at work, etc. to not really enjoy it.... So I don't think you're being sensitive! But also I did question even making my post last night for the same reason.

The jokes are also just not funny 90% of the time lately which makes it more egregious bc seeing any joke get beaten into the earth gets old eventually- like they do make jokes at his expense sometimes that /are/ funny, so I'm not saying they cant ever do that, it's just that the minute the jokes arent funny, well then its awkward at best or actively uncomfortable at worst so 🤷‍♀️
