it’s a shame that the only way jimin can get a moment of fame (yk what i mean) is only if his song gets viral on tiktok like, literally but the worst part is that only THAT song would get famous and that would be it… took a example of chappell roan, yes glb is super popular rn and most ppl knows the iconic bridge and even tho that’s it for most people she still is getting some fans from X artists to stream her music to see how good she is or wtv…. while as for jimin the only other way will be if he gets big names as features in his songs or gets linked to worked with artists that are famous atm.. as we know who. but yes, i guess it’s part of his journey, starting from scratch and building himself up during his time as a soloist, still i’ll always be there for him ❤️.
I get what you mean and yea it sucks. But tbh the way Like Crazy spread on its own was a true testament to how organic of a hit song it was and that was a lot more rewarding to see.
I don’t want Jimin’s songs to get artificial push like tiktok heating or autoplay on Spotify etc. Just good promo and a decent shot so we wouldn’t have to break our backs doing it ourselves or hoping that the public latches onto it to carry it into longevity. More than that though, I’d just like more people to experience what he has to offer. People who might’ve never heard of him before, gain genuine interest to become a fan because they listened to his discography and saw that he was talented.

Cirque du Soleil Drawn to Life review
I intended to write this review when it was still 2022. I really let work get ahead of me. And then the holidays. And then work again. And then Las Vegas where I saw two more Cirque shows and still hadn’t gotten my thoughts out properly about this one. I haven’t been this delayed since Crystal, and that is not fair to say because I am surprised and delighted to report...
Drawn to Life is a treasure.
I am still stunned by how much I liked it. I’ve never held onto negative Cirque assumptions so firmly only to find them so utterly destroyed by the end of the show. It is indeed different than a typical Cirque show, but it is not the Disney marketing mayhem I expected it to be. This is a true celebration of the art of animation, something I did not think they would be able to achieve, or worse, were secretly not interested in achieving at all. I was wrong.
There were some weak and intriguing spots: times when technology obscured acts, odd plugs for franchises I can’t imagine anyone ever really cared about, skepticism over whether this show demands to be seen more than once (and the implications for longevity that carries). I also question the efficacy of celebrating hand-drawn animation in a way that Disney has very publicly abandoned in recent years (tons more on that later). But this show unquestionably achieves a feat CdS has been chasing for some time: a true partnership that marries client vision with Cirque magic. It was neither too Disney nor too Cirque - it was a spectacular, playful, and heartfelt blend of the two. Childish in the best sense.
Act by act and all kinds of more thoughts below. This is a long one.
Theater/Animation - the lack of renovation is apparent. La Nouba is still very much in the room - though the new set is huge and stunning in its own way, there is something about the rest of the theater that feels like it belongs to something else. Shape of the stage, carpeting, seating arrangements, that kind of thing. The stage was playing dress-up. I wonder if people who hadn’t seen La Nouba felt similarly.
The Animators invited kids in the audience to create drawings, which were then projected onto the huge paper sheets that make up the set. It was a lovely hint to the way the show would later utilize the space. There was something about the female Animator that caught my eye and I couldn’t get Klara out of my head... and it turned out to be Ekaterina Pirogovskaya! So lovely to see her perform again, and it’s such a testament to her incredible mime work that I recognized her so quickly.
The pre-show announcements/warnings really prepare you for how kid-focused the show is going to be. “Tell your parents to silence their cell phones,” that kind of thing.
Opening - verrrry overt. There is a long voiceover in which Julie's mother reads a letter her dead father left behind for her, telling her she’s old enough to start using his old animation desk and would she please finish the animation he left behind for her. Mr. Pencil - whom I was prepared to hate and whom I still believe has one of the worst costumes in CdS history - is an immediate analog for the father, not dissimilar to Quidam’s John.
Rhythmic gymnastics - a team of gymnasts perform a synchronized tumbling act (same team that closed out Varekai). Through timing and sharp poses they form frames of animation in a very creative and effective way.
Aerial pencil - this was the moment I became sure I had been deeply wrong about this show. Not only was the act itself fantastic, but the way it used the space was remarkable. The artist draws on the stage with the pole and its marks are projected both on the stage and on the sheets above. I distinctly remember a big spiral turning into the Fairy Godmother’s sparkly little entrance and was enthralled. It’s difficult to communicate just how remarkable the union of act and set are here
Stilt walking - this was less an act and more just something that happened for a while. Lion King music strikes up and there was a big gasp of anticipation from the audience, but what follows is a guy on - admittedly - incredibly tall stilts, but there’s only so much you can do with that. It’s brief and a mismatch for the rest of the show.
Juggling - I don’t really care about juggling but oh my god do I care about this juggling. Similar to how rhythmic gymnastics was an overt reference to animation frames, this act is a lesson in the squash and stretch principle of animation, and the classic ball example becomes the balls the juggler manipulates.
The real star of the act though - THE REAL STAR OF POTENTIALLY THE ENTIRE SHOW - is the pillow. Oh my god that fucking pillow. When he’s first mentioned in the opening (the favorite pillow Julie used to hug while she watched her father animate), you’re like okaaay, I get iiiit, she’s a kiiiid, move along. No. This is no mere childhood signifier. This is one of several true kernels of magic in this show that forcibly yanks every adult in the audience back to a state of childlike wonder and pure love. Everyone knows what it feels like to have a security blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, whatever. And having this one along for the ride is a direct assault on the heartstrings. There’s a part later on in the show when he inches across the entire stage to settle next to a sleeping Julie. Like. Just kill me. Drown me in my own tears.
I cannot say enough about this fucking pillow.
Anyway I’m pretty sure there’s juggling in the juggling act but mostly there was the pillow. He yodels in this act. He has a little microphone. He has a little cowboy hat. Perfect no notes give the pillow a Grammy let me take a bullet for the pillow.
Cradle wheel - neat visual wholly undermined by the artists’ safety lines. They should have just lowered the entire act or given them a net. Instead the silhouette of the artists against these beautiful, great swipes of color is interrupted by the constant reminder of safety precautions. There are other ways to keep artists safe that doesn’t diminish the impact of the act.
Unicycle - one of the best acts in the entire show. Five artists, all women, all meant to be the Blue Fairy, glide across the stage in some of the tightest and most precise patterns I’ve ever seen. The real magic, though, is in the artists themselves. I can’t imagine there was a single little girl in the audience that didn’t want to be them. It was beautiful.
Double wheel - cancel all Cirque wheel of death acts that aren’t Kooza’s, all the rest are pointless. This one in particular is almost entirely obscured by all the projections in the background, and it all happens so fast (and twice over, given that it’s two wheels sharing an axle) that you never really know what you’re looking at. Very cool that they use The Old Mill as the basis for this act, though. (Also turns out I took a wheel of death class from one of the artists! Hi Junior! Sorry your old boss asked me how your show was and the first word I picked was “cute!”)
Hand to hand - really really pretty and delicate. The mother and father share a dance, and it’s held against other famous Disney dances like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, etc. to demonstrate the admiration Julie has for the love they shared. But this was the opposite of cradle wheel - instead of doing too little to hide safety lines, here they did way too much. What makes the act unique is how the mother slides effortlessly into poses with the help of lines, but they have to light the act very dimly to make it look real. Instead I would have liked to see them own up to the lines, maybe incorporate them, and the act could still have been as special while also being, y’know, visible.
Teeterboard - pointless tbh. Like I thought we covered squash and stretch with juggling. Why are we doing it again, and why are we doing it so obnoxiously? There’s nothing here that’s not already done better in Mystere, Kooza, Corteo, and believe it or not Paramour. This act could be cut with zero harm to the show.
Russian swing - I thought nothing could top unicycles until this. This act is a work of pure feminism. It actually didn’t occur to me how feminist this show was until this moment, and then I looked back and was like shit, it was right there the whole time! How lovely to have a story about an aspiring female animator, and how invigorating to punctuate her story by surrounding her with her own work, female Disney characters, and an entire team of female Russian swing artists. The crowning moment was a long dive from Pocahontas projected onto the sheets that pairs beautifully with one of the biggest tricks in the act. Completely phenomenal.
Finale - I’ll be honest I don’t think I remember the finale very clearly. Pretty sure I was in tears so that’s gotta be part of it. She finishes her father’s animation in a stunning and emotional moment that does a fantastic job of tracking the nonlinear path to success of an artist. She thanks Mr. Pencil, the Animators turn out to be the father’s dead contemporaries (which I LOVED omg), I imagine she hugs her mom and the pillow. Bows. Tears. Love.
Clowns - fine! Unobtrusive, which is my favorite thing for a clown to be. An animation desk turns into a big horse puppet, which is kind of neat but repeated so many times you’re a little bit like, “uh, why.”
Miss Hesitation - like Mr. Pencil, I was prepared to hate her. Incorrect. She was a treasure. A little shrill at times, a little repetitive, but all was outshone by the utter pleasure of seeing Virginia again. She lends an almost inexplicable amount of charm to what could easily be a very irritating character. I know I spoiled basically this entire show but I won’t spoil what happens with her, because it’s everything you want.
La Nouba references - there are three: two in the music, the first of which had my hands flying to my mouth to keep me from saying “oh my god, oh my god” aloud. The second is less obvious and harder to catch. And the third is a small toy train that chugs the length of the stage. All three were extremely thoughtful and touching - wholly unnecessary details “only true fans will know” in a way that clearly communicates gratitude to audiences past and respect for the show that preceded it.
Music - largely forgettable tbh. The music mostly glides from one motif to the next with few pauses to help distinguish one piece from another. It was somewhat generic “theming” music, sweeping orchestrals in that classic Disney style. It’s just a four piece band and their costumes are rough, but they have a few cute highlight moments throughout the show that ensures everyone knows they’re there.
Costumes - bad. Like across the board really not good. The ones that aren’t bad are forgettable because you’re too busy thinking about how bad the others are. Weirdly Miss Hesitation’s wasn’t the worst offensive, nor even Mr. Pencil’s. That title probably goes to the guy who’s only thing is... having a lot of mannequin hands attached to his shirt. Why on earth.
Things I didn’t need
1) The giant hand. Why. Why are you here, and everywhere, constantly. Are you supposed to be Micky Mouse’s glove?? Why are you in stilettos? Kindly leave.
2) Julie saying “let it go.” The only English words spoken aloud in the show, and it’s a cheap Frozen joke. I genuinely tensed up thinking we were about to be bashed over the head with a Frozen segment.
3) All the Pinocchio references?? You could be reading this thinking “surely it wasn’t that many.” I assure you it was more. He was everywhere. On the giant paper sheets. As a prominent wire sculpture set piece. Just all over the place. I was constantly asking myself whether they were gearing up for a live-action remake. As far as I know they didn’t have anything to do with Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, so what’s the excuse? Do kids even like or care about him? Do parents let kids watch that anymore, or is it widely considered to just be creepy and pointless as hell? Stromboli had a pretty significant place in a little villains segment. You know, Stromboli!!! The beloved villain!!!! Everyone knows and likes him!!! Doesn’t he give Pinocchio cigars or smth??? True icon. You know who wasn’t in that segment? Fucking Jafar. But boy oh boy did we get Stromboli. What the fuck, truly.
Outstanding questions
1) Isn’t this show kind of a Disney self-burn? It’s entirely about the artistry, impact, and beauty of hand-drawn animation. But... they don’t really do that anymore. And the quality of their work has plummeted with each successive year. It’s bizarre to see the rough pencils that became the Beauty and the Beast ballroom scene, for instance, and then in the next moment be looking at that horrific dragon from Raya and the Last Dragon. It would be one thing if the more recent works had much heart to them, but they largely do not. The quality does not match up decade over decade. This show does a splendid job of celebrating the artistry and development of animation over time... and then suddenly you’re looking at some of the hollowest works Disney has ever created set right alongside historical advances in an art form.
2) How long can we expect it to last? I assume they could refresh it quite often with new acts, featuring new movies, highlighting other old classics in different measures (like chilling the hell out on Pinocchio). But something about Drawn to Life does not invite you to see it again. It’s very honest with its emotional intent, but that approach also locks it into a single interpretation that is somewhat at odds with the makings of an enduring classic. La Nouba you could see dozens of times and still see a new show each time - there was so much detail, so much depth, and it was best appreciated with years between viewings. Perfect for, say, an expensive vacation destination, right?? But once you’ve seen Drawn to Life, you’ve seen it. There will be no deeper meaning, there will be few new details. It’ll tug on your heartstrings just the same, but you won’t suddenly empathize with the Titan when last time you couldn’t look away from the romance between the Lost Ballerina and the Masked Pierrot. It is exceedingly effective in its target audience: children. But its audience will outgrow it whereas La Nouba grew alongside its audience.
---
Is this the longest review I’ve ever written? I’m exhausted. This is my catnip though - something with a lot of content to pick apart but also a lot of production questions worth teasing out. I love to examine circus in context, and this partnership offered a very unique opportunity to do so.
Anyway go see Drawn to Life, become a child, have a blast. It’s a lovely show.
I hope it enjoys a long run. I’d personally like to see it again, because I like to see practically every show again. But I’m interested to see how it develops.

Maverick, your vampire guest.. I noticed her sitting by the window in the sun. Is she not from the human world? I thought human-born vampires were allergic to sunlight?
Maverick was not only her ensnarer- rather he studied her. If she was meant to be more, he will spend each waking moment obsessing over her. The Dark Prince with his ethereal grace, smiled at the inquirer and replied, "Ah, dear friend, you have stumbled upon an intriguing aspect of Gemina's nature. While it is true that many human-born vampires are indeed allergic to sunlight, Mina possesses a unique quality. She is what we call a Daywalker."
Tumblr media
"I believe Mina is a marvel, a bridge between two realms." A sense of wonder filled the air as Maverick painted a vivid picture with his words. "You see, Mina's lineage traces back to a powerful vampiric bloodline known for its adaptation to the human world. Over generations, their biology has evolved, granting them the ability to bask in the sun's warmth while retaining their vampiric strength and longevity."
He looked at the window in the sun where she was sitting, trying to assess her facial expression. "Why do you think I am so enthralled by our vampire guest? Through her, the sunlight and the night sky intertwine, creating a unique harmony. For both vampires and fae alike, it is a testament to the intricate tapestry of supernatural existence."

Gordie Howe: Mr. Hockey — The Legend of a Lifetime
Gordie Howe, often referred to as “Mr. Hockey,” is more than just a name in the annals of sports history; he is an embodiment of the relentless pursuit of excellence, resilience, and passion that defines the very essence of hockey. Howe’s career spanned an unprecedented five decades, making him a true legend not only in the NHL but in the world of sports.
Early Life and Entry into Hockey
Born on March 31, 1928, in Floral, Saskatchewan, Canada, Gordie Howe’s journey to becoming a hockey icon began in humble surroundings. Growing up during the Great Depression, Howe’s family struggled financially, but the icy winters of Canada provided him with the perfect environment to hone his skills. Skating on frozen ponds, Howe developed the strength and agility that would later define his playing style.
At the age of 15, Howe caught the attention of scouts from the Detroit Red Wings. His raw talent and physical presence on the ice were undeniable, and by 1946, at just 18 years old, Howe made his NHL debut with the Red Wings. It was the beginning of an era that would see him transform into one of the greatest players to ever grace the ice.
Dominance in the NHL
Gordie Howe’s career with the Detroit Red Wings is the stuff of legends. Playing for the Red Wings from 1946 to 1971, Howe became synonymous with the team’s success. He led the Red Wings to four Stanley Cup championships (1950, 1952, 1954, 1955) and was a six-time recipient of the Hart Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s most valuable player.
Howe was known for his unique combination of skill, strength, and toughness. His ability to score goals was matched only by his physical style of play. Howe could dominate in all aspects of the game — whether it was scoring, setting up teammates, or engaging in the rough-and-tumble physicality that was common in the NHL at the time. The “Gordie Howe Hat Trick,” which consists of a goal, an assist, and a fight in the same game, became a testament to his all-around capabilities.
His longevity in the sport is another testament to his greatness. Howe played 1,767 regular-season games in the NHL, a record that stood for decades until it was broken by another legend, Patrick Marleau, in 2021. Even in his later years, Howe was a force to be reckoned with, often outperforming players half his age.
The WHA and a New Chapter
When Gordie Howe retired from the NHL in 1971, many believed it was the end of an era. However, Howe wasn’t finished with hockey. In 1973, he made a surprising comeback, joining the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association (WHA), where he played alongside his sons, Mark and Marty. This move not only prolonged his career but also allowed Howe to share the ice with his family, creating a unique chapter in hockey history.
Howe’s presence in the WHA was transformative for the league. He won two MVP awards and helped elevate the level of competition, making the WHA a viable alternative to the NHL. Howe’s return to the NHL in 1979 with the Hartford Whalers at the age of 51 added to his already legendary status. His final NHL season saw him play in all 80 games, showcasing his enduring durability and passion for the sport.
Legacy and Impact on Hockey
Gordie Howe’s impact on hockey is immeasurable. He finished his career with 801 goals, a record that stood until Wayne Gretzky, a player who idolized Howe, surpassed it in 1994. Howe’s total of 1,850 points remains among the highest in NHL history, a testament to his scoring ability and longevity.
Beyond the numbers, Howe’s influence extends to the way the game is played. He was a pioneer in integrating skill with physicality, proving that a player could be both a scorer and an enforcer. His sportsmanship, work ethic, and humility off the ice made him a beloved figure across the hockey world.
Howe’s contributions to hockey were recognized with numerous accolades, including his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972. The NHL’s annual “Gordie Howe International Bridge” award, given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey, is named in his honor.
Personal Life and Legacy Beyond the Ice
Gordie Howe’s life was not only defined by his achievements on the ice but also by his dedication to his family and community. Howe was married to his beloved wife, Colleen, for over 50 years until her passing in 2009. Together, they raised four children, and Howe remained actively involved in charitable work, particularly in supporting Alzheimer’s research after Colleen was diagnosed with the disease.
Howe’s death on June 10, 2016, was met with an outpouring of tributes from around the world. Fans, players, and coaches alike reflected on the immense impact he had on the sport and on their lives.
Gordie Howe’s legacy is not just one of records and championships, but of a life dedicated to the love of the game. He was a player who transcended generations, inspiring countless others to lace up their skates and pursue their dreams on the ice. As “Mr. Hockey,” Gordie Howe will forever be remembered as a giant of the sport, whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

A Clash of Titans: Architecture and Heritage at King's College School
In the leafy surroundings of Wimbledon, King's College School stands as a beacon of educational excellence, founded in 1829 and situated near Wimbledon Common since 1897. Recently, the school embarked on a transformative journey with Allies & Morrison, a renowned architectural practice led by Bob Allies and Graham Morrison. Their project aimed to seamlessly integrate new facilities into the existing historic fabric, enhancing circulation and access for the science block, adding six new classrooms, administrative spaces, and a multi-use hall.
Enter Sir Banister Fletcher and Michael Hopkins, esteemed architects with their own indelible marks on King's College School. Alongside them, Orinoco the Womble, the whimsical guide of Wimbledon, steps in as the arbiter in this architectural clash of titans.
Sir Banister Fletcher, with his deep appreciation for the historical and classical forms, raises an eyebrow at the modern interventions. "Bob and Graham, your work, while functional, lacks the soul of architecture. You’ve introduced a corporate sterility that diminishes the rich heritage of this place."
Michael Hopkins, known for his innovative yet contextually respectful designs, nods in agreement. "The spirit of education here is intertwined with its historic architecture. Your new block, though impressive in its own right, feels detached from this narrative. It is a collection of efficient spaces but where is the artistry?"
Bob Allies and Graham Morrison defend their approach. "We strive for simplicity, longevity, and technical precision. Our design for King's College School is about creating spaces that serve the needs of modern education, providing functionality and adaptability for future generations."
Orinoco, the wise and gentle Womble, listens intently. "The challenge, dear friends, is to marry the past and the present. Bob and Graham, your work must resonate with the legacy of King's College School while addressing contemporary needs. The true art of architecture lies in balancing these elements."
As the debate continues, the new quadrangle garden stands as a testament to Allies & Morrison's vision—a green, tranquil space that complements the collegiate character of the school. Yet, the critique from Fletcher and Hopkins lingers, a reminder that architecture must serve not just the practical, but also the poetic. The bricks and mortar of King's College School must tell a story, one that honors its storied past while embracing the future.

Choosing the Right Inverter: A Deep Dive into Sine Wave and Square Wave Technologies
In the quest for uninterrupted power and the comfort it brings to our daily lives, the modern homeowner faces a myriad of choices. Among these, selecting the right type of inverter for one's home stands out as a crucial decision. This article delves into the fundamental differences between sine wave and square wave inverters, offering insights into how these technologies impact your home energy solutions. Drawing from the extensive expertise of Okaya, a leader in the UPS/inverter industry, we uncover the nuances that could guide you to make an informed decision tailored to your household's needs.
Sine Wave Vs Square Wave Inverter: Differences You Must Know
Electricity not only powers our homes but also enriches our lives with convenience and efficiency. However, with the increasing frequency of power outages, the reliance on a dependable power backup solution has never been more critical. Here, the choice between sine wave and square wave inverters emerges as a significant consideration, impacting the quality of life and the longevity of household appliances.
The Fundamentals
1. Supported Appliances
Square Wave Inverters: These devices cater to basic, motor-driven appliances and are a cost-effective option for powering items such as fans and lighting fixtures. Their simplicity, however, limits their compatibility mainly to less sensitive appliances.
Sine Wave Inverters: Okaya's Ultra Pure series exemplifies the versatility and capability of sine wave inverters, supporting a wide range of devices from high-end electronics to delicate medical equipment. These inverters provide a safeguard for smooth operation and protect against potential damage.
2. Power Waveform
The essence of their difference lies in the type of power waveform each inverter produces. Sine wave inverters offer a smooth, consistent output that closely resembles the electrical grid's supply, ensuring compatibility with nearly all household devices. Square wave inverters, with their abrupt power transitions, cater to more basic needs but may introduce compatibility issues with more sophisticated electronics.
3. Overall Safety and Noise Interference
Safety: Sine wave inverters, particularly those in the Ultra Pure series from Okaya, prioritize the safety and longevity of household appliances with their true sine wave output. In contrast, the uneven power output from square wave inverters may pose risks to more sensitive devices.
Noise: The operational noise is another aspect where sine wave inverters excel, operating quietly and suitable for indoor use. Square wave inverters, on the other hand, might emit a level of noise that could be intrusive in home settings.
The Okaya Advantage
Okaya stands out in the inverter market with its commitment to quality, innovation, and understanding of modern household needs. From the energy-efficient Smart Wave series, based on Quasi Sine Wave technology, to the Ultra Pure series catering to high-end electronics with True Sine Wave output, Okaya addresses a broad spectrum of energy solutions. Their Hi-Capacity UPS options further emphasize the brand's dedication to robust, uninterrupted power for both residential and commercial settings.
In Conclusion The journey to choosing the right inverter for your home is paved with considerations of appliance compatibility, safety, noise levels, and the overall quality of power supply. With the insights into the differences between sine wave and square wave inverters, courtesy of Okaya's deep industry knowledge, homeowners are better equipped to make choices that align with their energy needs and lifestyle preferences. Okaya's range of inverters not only stands testament to its commitment to innovation and reliability but also assures homeowners of a seamless, uninterrupted power supply, ensuring a lifestyle unhampered by power disruptions.

Mediterranean Diet 101
Tumblr media
https://youtu.be/SMsy_XuofMo video Discovering the True Mediterranean Diet: A Journey to Crete Embarking on a journey to demystify the true essence of the Mediterranean diet 101. Bill Bradley, a registered dietitian, takes us through his transformative experience on the Greek island of Crete. Known globally for its heart-healthy benefits. And as a beacon of longevity, the Mediterranean diet's authentic version might not be what many of us imagine. Bradley’s firsthand insights shed light on the genuine dietary practice. That make the Mediterranean lifestyle the gold standard for healthful eating. The Authentic Mediterranean Diet: High in Fats and Vegetables Upon arriving in Crete, Bradley's initial encounter with the local cuisine—a sugary. Cheesy pastry—prompted him to delve deeper into the traditional diet of the region. His explorations revealed a diet significantly higher in fats than commonly perceived in the West. Contrary to the modest olive oil servings mentioned in many cookbooks. Traditional Cretan meals are rich in this heart-healthy fat, sometimes incorporating up to a cup of extra virgin olive oil in a single dish. This high-fat consumption does not translate to higher obesity rates; instead. Cretans maintain healthy weights and exhibit lower instances of heart disease. Vegetable intake on the island far exceeds the average. With residents consuming 9 to 15 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, all drenched in flavorful olive oil. This generous use of vegetables and olive oil not only enhances the. Taste but also significantly contributes to the diet’s health benefits. Debunking Mediterranean Diet Myths Bradley addresses several common misconceptions about the Mediterranean diet 101: - Carbohydrate Consumption: Contrary to the belief that the Mediterranean diet shuns carbs. It is indeed a high-carb diet, embracing bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes. These staples are balanced with high fat, primarily from olive oil, debunking the myth of it being a low-carb lifestyle. - Affordability: Initially, the Mediterranean diet was the sustenance of peasants, crafted out of necessity by those with limited resources. Despite its perceived costliness in modern times, especially in the U.S., Bradley suggests that the diet can be affordable. By prioritizing vegetables, beans, and whole grains, and consuming less meat, one can enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle on a budget. - Global Benefits: The health advantages of the Mediterranean diet are not confined to the Mediterranean region. Studies have consistently shown that no matter where you live, adopting this dietary pattern can lead to significant health improvements. Including reduced risks of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. The Role of Alcohol in the Mediterranean Diet The consumption of alcohol, particularly wine, within the Mediterranean diet is often celebrated but remains a topic of controversy. While alcohol is a staple in the diets of many Mediterranean cultures, its health impacts are mixed. Moderate consumption may increase good cholesterol levels, but risks, including negative effects on the brain and an increased risk of breast cancer in women, necessitate a cautious approach. Experiencing the Authentic Bradley’s narrative concludes with a family meal, featuring horta (greens) with potatoes, a Greek salad, and bread—highlighting a day without meat, fish, or beans, yet rich in flavors and nutrients. This simplicity and flexibility in meals underscore the Mediterranean diet's essence: a focus on whole foods, plant-based ingredients, and a balance of macronutrients to support a long and healthy life. Through Bradley’s exploration in Crete, we’re reminded that the true Mediterranean diet transcends beyond just food; it's a testament to a lifestyle that values freshness, simplicity, and the joy of eating well with family and friends. It's an atmosphere that exudes a sense of community and belonging, a testament to the vision of its owners, the Kasapis brothers, and their successor, Lee Drouillard.
Lee Drouillard, the current owner of the place, is the driving force behind maintaining this soothing ambiance. His dedication is mirrored in each detail, from the delightful decor to the background music that brings a sense of tranquility. His vision is not merely to run a restaurant but to create a place where the community feels at home, a place where memories are created.
The staff, the true backbone of Ram’s Horn Restaurant Fraser, play a significant role in upholding the franchise's reputation. They are carefully chosen - not merely for their ability to carry out their duties efficiently but for their capacity to embody the spirit of the franchise. Their friendly and professional demeanor, coupled with a commitment to providing top-notch service, helps create an environment where every customer feels valued.
The secret behind the exceptional teamwork lies in the franchise's belief in valuing every member of its team. From the kitchen staff meticulously preparing each dish to the servers diligently delivering the orders, everyone has a crucial role to play. Each staff member is seen as an integral part of the Ram's Horn family. This feeling of belonging and being valued fosters a sense of responsibility and dedication, which is evident in the seamless service customers experience.

The seating arrangement, varying from comfortable booths to communal tables, caters to different dining preferences, from a quiet meal to a lively gathering. Isn't It Now- Animal Collective
Tumblr media
It's a rare thing for a band to continue releasing great music 2 decades into their career. To go that kind of distance requires a rare combination of restless creativity, open-mindedness, curiosity, and amicability (in addition to sustaining a captive audience) that necessitates keeping one's ego at the door. It's hard to imagine many people who followed the chaotic early years of Animal Collective could've anticipated this sort of longevity, but here we are, 20 years after the formation of (and retroactive classification of their early records under) the "collective" as we know it, and their recently released 12th record, Isn't It Now?, is another triumph. It's not one of their strongest records, but it's another compelling record that continues to build on the lush sonic developments of its predecessor, Time Skiffs, without being rendered a retread. It's still a little disarming to hear a band once better known for screaming through delay pedals and battered floor toms than writing anything resembling hooks making such downright conventionally "pretty" sounding music, but it's a testament to the band's ingenuity and exploratory impulses that they can wring such potency out of such seemingly foreign (to them) forms of songwriting. I can't imagine IIN? will convert any of the band's detractors, but there's plenty to admire about its cozy construction for the heads and newcomers alike.
At 9 songs in 64 minutes IIN? is their longest record to date, which is a fun twist as a follow-up to TS instead of the usual companion EP that follows each of their albums. And while IIN? deviates the least from its prior LP than any of their other albums, there are enough strong ideas here that it never overstays its welcome, and actually feels like another fully-realized record instead of a collection of leftovers from the TS sessions. The sound of IIN? is easy-going and relatively straightforward, and composed with a standard guitars, bass, drums, piano setup (in addition to Geologist's hurdy gurdy and usual sample work), but there are some welcome new wrinkles throughout. The drifting ambience of "Magicians of Baltimore" moves at a glacial pace, but Panda Bear's unusually funky drumming is the perfect counterpoint to the droning guitars and Avey Tare's wispy delivery. The sparse kick/handclap rhythm on "All The Clubs Are Broken" smacks of deconstructed club music, but the hazy vocal harmonies keep the proceedings deliriously strange, while "Soul Capturer" has the feel of a vintage AnCo classic retrofitted with hurdy gurdy and an analog low-end. And "Defeat", the record's colossal 22 minute middle point and the band's longest song to date, is an unconventional epic that harkens back to the dreamy soundscapes of Ark but is imbued with a more accessible palette despite its lengthy droning passages. While most of "Defeat" wrings beauty from the subtle shifts in dynamics and tempos, the middle section features a brief, jaunty hi-hat shuffle with Avey and Panda trading vocals in their infectious, inimitable fashion, and it rivals anything I've heard this year in terms of pure immediacy. The thrills aren't as overt this time around, but the songs reward your patience multiple times over.
While the appeal of AnCo records is predominantly centered around their mesmerizing arrangements and production, their lyricism is a severely more underappreciated element of their music, and on IIN? they continue to write from a strikingly wholesome vantage. "Broken Zodiac" espouses the importance of community and making concessions to try to understand those on the other side of an ideological aisle "And once it's given its due/Doing things that are true/Hard to misunderstand/When it's giving a hand" while closer "King's Walk" folds a few brief comments on what scans like resilience in the face of climate change "This old world is almost getting cooked/This old world is tougher than it looks" into a series of gorgeous cascading harmonies. As usual, Avey and Panda's idiosyncratic voices dominate the proceedings (solo as well as in tandem with one another), but, as on "Royal And Desire", the ornate closer on TS, Deakin makes a rare star turn on the wistful mid-album dirge "Stride Rite", delivering casually devastating and cathartic verses that his mellow delivery belies "Lost one to cancer, two to sorrow/Three by losing patience/With the people who we are/Let us tend what's not grown, nothing's wrong, let it go". And the aforementioned literal and figurative centerpiece, "Defeat", delivers the record's thesis on the importance of perseverance in the face of habitual difficulties, in characteristically singular fashion "Isn't it now?/Defeat!/Oh no, not now". For a band as obsessively exploratory as AnCo, IIN? presents a refreshing recalibration by expanding on more conventional forms of expression, and it might be their most audacious move yet.
