The Stand, a series based on a best-selling book penned by Stephen King, will get a release on STARZPLAY.
The release of the post-apocalyptic series has been set to be January the 3rd for Europe and South America.
STARZPLAY is an upper-tier streaming platform developed by Starz, and today it announced that it has now owned the streaming rights for the limited series “The Stand”; a series adaptation of a post-apocalyptic novel penned by Stephen King in 1978.
Source:https://antivirusactivate.a6activate.co.uk/the-stand-will-be-premiered-on-starzplay/
STARZPLAY added that now it has owned the distribution rights of the film for the global audience. The streaming service will stream the series in countries such as Belgium, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Latin America, Japan, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the UK, and Spain. The release date for the premiere has been set to be January the 3rd, 2021.
“The Stand” is a 1978 post-apocalyptic novel written by Stephen King. The story dealt with a world crippled by a plague and reeling with an eternal fight between light and darkness. The future of humanity massively depends on the will and abilities of a 108-year-old woman Mother Abagail and her companions. Mother Abigail and her friends are the only few survivors left on the dying planet.
Mother Abagail’s adversary is none other than a nightmare of a man named Randall Flagg, aka the Dark Man. Flagg has unfathomable powers and a bewitching smile. The role of Randall Flagg will be played by Alexander Skarsgard.
Even if you have read the book, you should watch the series because it will feature an ending which will be quite different than what you have read in the book. The ending for the miniseries has been written by the author of the book Stephen King himself.
Whoopi Goldberg (Mother Abagail) and Alexander Skarsgard (the Dark Man) will lead the cast. Apart from the duo, the miniseries will feature James Marsden, Odessa Young, Amber Heard (who has also tasted success with the superhit DCEU film Aquaman), Henry Zaga (recently seen in the New Mutants), Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Irene Bedard, Nat Wolff, Heather Graham, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara(also known for Arrow), Fiona Dourif, Hamish Linklater, Natalie Martinez, Greg Kinnear, and Daniel Sunjata.
The show is a production of CBS Studios, and the responsibility for global distribution has been vested with ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.
Benjamin Cavell has done his bit for the show both as a showrunner and as an executive producer. He has been supported by Taylor Elmore, Jimmy Miller, Will Weiske, and Richard P. Rubinstein.
It might be a nice time to become a subscriber of STARZPLAY because all the subscriber of the premium streaming platform will also get access to high-quality Starz content such as the limited series “The Spanish Princess” and an entertaining second episode of the Power Universe titled “Power Book II: Ghost” which stars Mary J. Blige in the leading roles. Along with that, you can also entertain yourself with the insightful comedy “Ramy,” which is a production of a very talented comedian Ramy Youssef. There are also award-winning series like “The Act” and “The Great” available for view on the platform.
However, if you don’t like any of those, you can treat yourself via a library consisting of hundreds of blockbusters.
“The Stand” will premiere on STARZPLAY on January the 3rd, 2020.

The Stand: Trailer Drops for New Stephen King Miniseries
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
We’re just over two months away from the Dec.17 premiere of The Stand miniseries on CBS All Access, and a full-length trailer has surfaced at last following a brief teaser last month.
The trailer dropped this morning at the end of a 30-minute digital NYCC panel. The Josh Boone-helmed, nine-part series looks — from the scenes we saw — pretty damn faithful to Stephen King’s epic novel, which was originally published in 1978 and filmed once before as a four-part ABC miniseries back in 1994. Take a look:
The book begins with the escape of a biological weapon — a virulent form of plague — from a government lab and its destructive path across the United States and the world. With most of humanity wiped out, two distinct sides form in what’s left of the US: a group of righteous, basically decent folks who gather in Boulder, Colorado around a mystical old woman named Mother Abagail (played here by Whoopi Goldberg) and a collection of criminals, malcontents, and the weak-hearted in Las Vegas, gathered around an evil entity in human form known as Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård).
The trailer gives us our first extended look at a number of scenes and images that appear to be directly lifted from the novel, including the streets of New York City clogged with abandoned cars, hero Stu Redman (James Marsden) making his escape from a lab where he’s kept while the last remaining scientists try to discover why he’s immune to the virus, the initial meeting between Stu and world-weary pop star Larry Underwood (Jovan Adepo), and the first gathering of the Boulder community.
CBS All Access
We also see Larry and drug-addled socialite Rita Blakemoor (Heather Graham) surveying New York from a penthouse apartment in which they hole up before making their fateful decision to leave the deserted city, and there are glimpses of the dreams that Stu, the pregnant Fran Goldsmith (Odessa Young), and the deaf mute Nick Andros (New Mutants’ Henry Zaga) all have in which Abagail calls to them to come together in Boulder.
And then there’s Flagg, a.k.a. the Dark Man: we watch as he intrudes on the dreams of the Boulder folks, before gradually recruiting others to his side, including petty thief Lloyd Henreid (Nat Wolff) and the jealous, sociopathic Harold Lauder (Owen Teague), who will start out in Boulder but betray the people there in horrific fashion with the help of the conflicted Nadine Cross (Amber Heard).
This version of Flagg’s Vegas seems even more circus-like than the book or the 1994 adaptation portrayed it, with Flagg heard in voiceover exhorting his followers, “In the world that was, they told you it was wrong to want more — their time is at an end. Our time has begun!”
The final image of the trailer is an iconic one to fans of King’s book, which is generally regarded as his masterpiece: Stu, Larry, sociology professor Glen Bateman (Greg Kinnear), and Ray Brentner (formerly Ralph Brentner, gender-swapped from the book and played here by Irene Bedard) walking down a desert highway on their way to Vegas, where they will make their stand against Flagg.
The panel itself was largely uneventful, with Marsden, Heard, Young, Goldberg, Kinnear, Adepo, and Teague — alongside showrunner Benjamin Cavell and executive producer Taylor Elmore — going through some basic exposition about their characters and the story, and how this version modernizes both (Whoopi Goldberg, for example, is adamant that Abagail not be portrayed as a “magic Negro”). It was also noted how eerily relevant King’s 42-year-old tale — with an unstoppable virus and an evil leader wreaking havoc in the US — still is in 2020.
We’ve heard that this version of The Stand will rearrange events to some degree and not necessarily begin or end in the same way that the book does, but as one of those readers for whom the novel is a revered text, the trailer today was full of promise.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Boone (New Mutants) has directed the first and last episode (the latter featuring a new ending written by Stephen King and his son Owen), while the rest of the directors have yet to be announced. Writers on the show include Boone, his frequent collaborator Knate Lee, Cavell, and others, with the Kings, Boone, and original The Stand producer Richard P. Rubenstein also on the list of executive producers.
The Stand debuts on CBS All Access on Dec. 17.

Today saw Aer Lingus reveal its new look uniform which will be graced by its 4,000 cabin and ground crew around the world from 10th February. Created by the same Irish fashion designer who brought its previous threads to life – Louise Kennedy – the new look reflects Aer Lingus’ recent brand refresh.
The airline hasn’t departed too far from its previous incarnation. Guests flying with Aer Lingus in the coming months can expect to still see iconic green, now dubbed ‘Kenmare Green’, as well as a greater inclusion of navy, entitled ‘Midnight’, throughout. In all, 25 garments have been designed giving crew and ground staff a greater variety of styles from which to choose.
Diversifying its range, changes to the uniform include the addition of trouser and dress options, new jacket and coat designs for male crew, and easy-care shirts and blouses for the convenience of all crew. “For added comfort, garment materials have a level of stretch and are designed to fit and flatter all body shapes and sizes,” states the press release.
While the new look uniform is the culmination of a two-year project between Aer Lingus and Louise Kennedy, involving extensive staff engagement as well as external research in Dublin, London, New York and Paris we can’t help but feel a little flat about the execution. The silhouette sadly isn’t that contemporary, and the Kenmare Green female jacket is quite boxy, but the attention to detail on elements like the cuff motif is certainly worth celebrating.
Speaking at the announcement, Aer Lingus CEO, Sean Doyle said: “Our guests’ main engagement with our brand is with our 4,000-strong workforce of ground staff and cabin crew, therefore our uniform is an embodiment of who we are as an airline. The adoption of a capsule collection reflects the trends found in North America, the strongest target demographic for the carrier.
“As with our logo and livery, our new uniform needs to reflect the modern, international airline that Aer Lingus is today; while also ensuring that our unique identity is retained and our values as an airline are reflected. Louise Kennedy has achieved that in the uniform that we are unveiling today, and it is the final step in a process that has seen over 500 points rebranded over the last 12 months.”
Irish fashion designer Louise Kennedy said: “We were honoured to be chosen to design the new Aer Lingus uniform. The brief from the airline was very clear and we were confident we could deliver a modern and stylish capsule collection which would endure for several years.”
Louise Kennedy’s latest design for Aer Lingus is the airline’s eleventh uniform, with previous designers including leading Irish fashion names such as Irene Gilbert, Neillí Mulcahy, Digby Morton, Ib Jorgensen and Paul Costello. Aer Lingus’ first-ever uniform was a military-style rich brown suit designed by Sybil Connolly in 1945, which then became green a few years later in 1948.
The uniform is certainly on brand, but doesn’t seem to offer more than a professional, colour-blocked, on-brand capsule collection. We can’t help but feel there was a missed opportunity to push the brand further. What do you think?

Costa Blanca Bowls Roundup - 20 Oct 18
A Double Six proves unlucky for El Cid at Monte Mar By Paul Trunchion Sitting top of the league with 2 wins El Cid travelled to Monte Mar hoping to build on their good start to the Winter League. Out of 90 ends El Cid won 50 which should result in a win but dropping a 6 on two tight games proved very costly. Over the 5 Rinks Monte Mar took 3 wins pipping El Cid by 1 shot for shot difference and resulting in a 8-4 defeat. Stars for El Cid were the two all ladies teams of Betty Anderson, Geraldine Scutt, Hazel Brown and Yvonne Briden with a 20-11 win and Ros Dingle, Shirley Payne, Anita Randall and Pat Metcalfe winning 18 – 13. Well done to Monte Mar and must do better for El Cid. Next week sees El Cid back on the coach to Greenlands. Stewart Beattie AWAY SUCCESS FOR THE SWORDS! Good day for the Swords again on Monday, travelling to Finca Guila and coming away with 8-2 win (80 shots to 47)and a win on the Challenger Rink. In the scoring rinks best result went to Alan Hall, Jim Sissens and Ian Brown romping away to a 31-6 win. Wins also for Betty Anderson, Hazel Brown and Jill Glastonbury 20-14 and John Carr, Clive Bidel and Paul Whitmee 18-11. In the last scoring rink Pat Coburn, Paul Trunchion and Alan Ferrand were all square in to the 16th end, holding 3 to go ahead in the 16th only to see Finca’s Marjorie Parnham fire and take the jack back for 3 shots. No way back sadly and they lost 16-11. Big win for the Challengers, Dave Forret, Stuart Branch (who says this will no doubt surprise and please all his UK Mainland bowling friends!) with Stewart Beattie taking the game 27-12. Our Friendly losing out 18-11 on the ever challenging Rink 1! Next weeks match is now on Tuesday afternoon and sees the Swords take on BBC Tigers at El Cid. COME ON THE SWORDS! COUNTRY BOWLS CLUB Country Bowls ‘Cubs’ headed out to La Siesta for their second game of the season and for many of the team their first away league game. After a shaky start on all but one rink the newly formed ‘Cubs’ started their comeback. Winning 10 – 2 against the ‘Silvers’ with 4 rinks winning in a nail biting finish and the one loss that went to the last end. A very proud moment for the club and the team captain after a hugely successful summer programme introducing new players to the sport. The ‘Geckos’ in the B division finished with a 6 – 6 draw against San Luis ‘Leopards’ and the ‘Flamingos’ on Monday got off to a great start beating Emerald Isle ‘Saturns’ with a score of 8-4. All in all a positive start to the season for Country Bowls. For any information on Country Bowls please ring 966191552/635086742 or e-mail [email protected] . El Rancho Bowls Club Monday found two of our teams playing each other in the Voyager league, the Palominos being the home team, playing the Raiders. The Raiders proved to be the stronger team on the day 4 rinks with the other drawn, but the scores were close on most of the rinks, so all had to battle for the win, a great scenario for a morning’s fun. In the afternoon the Pintos were at Quesada playing the Rubies and had a good afternoons bowling, great company and a good result. Taking 3 rinks and drawing one, a fine end to an away fixture, a good start to the league. Friday morning found the Rangers playing host to Vistabella Conquistadors, playing very well to take full advantage of the home mat in taking the rinks by 4 to 1 and the overall shot by a good margin. Ngaio Baldwin, Pete Baldwin and Malc Elmore 33-14. Kay Griffith, Gary Dunstone and Brian Taylor 13-16. Dolly Ford, Ann Abbott and David Wright 31-05. Ron Edwards, John Richards and Mike Ager 27-09. Meanwhile the Mustangs were at Emerald Isle playing the Cavaliers, whilst we came away with just the one rink, we had fun though the bowling was a little challenging. Horadada Bowls Club By Irene Graham This week is the start of the two league matches per week for us and Monday wasn’t a good day at the office for the first match of the Discovery Division. We were at home to San Miguel Dalmations and after a poor start we found it difficult to keep up to a better side on the day. However we did have one winning rink and that was: Irene Graham, Les Davies and Terry Hucknall. Well played Guys. The final score was 75 shots for and 95 against, giving us 2 points to San Miguels’s 10. Friday, in the Southern League, wasn’t a great deal better. We were playing away to El Rancho. This is not one of our favourite playing venues, it is difficult to adjust to the speed of the green. In saying that, some of the rinks had very close scores and it could have gone either way. One rink we only lost by 1 shot and another by 2 shots. Our 1 winning rink was: Irene Graham, Alan Miller and Brian Eatough. This was actually a very good match for us although the final scores don’t show that. Total shots for 71 to 87 against and the overall points were 2 for Horadada and 10 for El Rancho. The match was played in a very friendly, sporting manner. Horadada offers a warm welcome to new or experienced bowlers, and provides the necessary equipment. Our roll-up days for this friendly club are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings. Please contact Fred Trigwell on 659139129 for more information
