Super slow day at work so I identified and labeled every recycled android we have in our parts bin.
Isn't it beautiful
#i color coded them by manufacturer so itd be easy to find a specific phone when digging around for spare parts#this shit is easy when i can actually hold the device for clues#used imei check for anything that still had one printed on it‚ anything half open i can find the model#number on a flex cable or something#and anything without those identifiers i just searched gsm arena for a visual match#like iding from images is hard cause i only have one image to go off of so one ID could take hours (if its obscure)#but this bin of like 80 or so phones took me like 3 hours tops#also i didnt id the iphones cause everyone in my store can id them on sight so it would be a bit redundant lol#also we have like a million recycled iphones#not id#work#smartphone

praying with all ive got that somewhere during in the y2k trendiness cycle this decade phone manufacturers will see a wave of nostalgia for smaller/chunkier phones and go back to releasing mini versions of their modern devices!!!! i want small phones back sooo bad!!

sorry i saw a long post complaining about iphones & i am compelled to remind everyone that you can just buy a cheap android phone? figure out what your personal dealbreakers are, google around a little, read some reviews. i have a unihertz phone that cost $200, has expandable storage & a headphone jack, & also just for kicks has an IR blaster & FM radio receiver. you can have a good life! you do not have to buy iphone!
#sucks that the culture of forking android has more or less died. i would love to run a degoogled android fork#however nobody has made one that supports my weird phone. so like if your real dream is to run a de-googled device#you should probably buy a google pixel. they have solid privacy features at a hardware level & there are active android forks for them#you can get a refurb model so you're not buying straight from google if you want. personally my dealbreaker was headphone jack#i'm just continually baffled by how other people interact with their technology. they can't make u do stuff guys. u can just not buy phone.#also also if you have any reason to expect that police might be interested in your phone you shouldn't set up biometrics#because the current jurisprudence says that it's a violation of your 5th amendment right to not self-incriminate to make you#hand over your passcode but it is NOT a violation of same to make you touch the fingerprint sensor or whatever. just fun fact#sorry again for being gadget-y. yes i listen to the vergecast no i will not improve#please do not buy iphone unless you actively want iphone & honestly even then are u sure? really? iphone? come on

im so tired of exclusives like in general actually. its like You wanna play this game? well you have to have this exact device to play it sorry. yeah we know that the ones you already have would be able to run it just fine and theres no logical reason why we couldnt put it on there too but we just dont feel like it sorry. Well theres like 500 different streaming services out there and only one highly specific one has it . please give us your money now . its so annoying everything i like should always be available on the exact devices and services that i have forever
