IPHC Women’s Ministries gifts more than $42,000 at 74th Annual Vision 4 Education!
The Women’s Ministries Department of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC) brought a generous offering of more than $42,000 to Emmanuel’s 74th Annual Vision 4 Education (formerly known as the Feast of Ingathering) on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Vision 4 Education represents years of commitment and hard work by the Women’s Ministries team to help provide scholarships for students to pursue a Christ-centered education at Emmanuel.
Emmanuel College President, Dr. Ron White opened the ceremony by welcoming the ladies to campus and expressing his appreciation for their faithfulness.
“For 74 years the women of the IPHC have brought financial gifts to this annual celebration,” Dr. White said. “We are grateful for the faithfulness and the devotion of the Women’s Ministries Department to our students and Emmanuel College.”
Women’s Ministries Department Director, Whitney Davis shared why the event is special to her and the mission of the Women’s Ministry Department.
“In this cultural climate that we live in today, we know that Christian institutions of higher learning are essential as we seek to raise the next generation of leaders for the Kingdom of God,” she said. “We saw many of those showcased here today and so thank you, President White, faculty, and staff for investing in the next generation.”
Joining Davis at the event were Brenda Grasty (WM General Board), Tammy Porter (Appalachian Conference), Janice Marshburn (North Carolina Conference), and Janice Evatt (Spirit Life), Natasha Pratt (Cornerstone Conference), Mr. Morris Smith (South Carolina Conference)
Emmanuel sophomore, Autumn Tuckey shared at the event how God led the way for her to attend Emmanuel.
“My junior year in high school, I accepted the call into ministry and began looking at Christian colleges,” she said. “I prayed that God would open a door for me to do what he had for me and a few days later I learned of a family in my church wanting to send someone to Emmanuel College. I realized at that moment that if I was supposed to go to Emmanuel, this was God’s way of directing me there.”
For Autumn, this was just one of the many ways that God confirmed that she belonged at Emmanuel.
“God knew what I needed and he provided that for me here,” she said. “I found a community and a family here at Emmanuel.”
She closed by reminding students to make the most of their opportunity at Emmanuel.
“You’re here for a reason,” she said. “No matter where you’re from, how you got here, or why you think you’re here. You are not here by accident. You are here for a purpose so take advantage of the opportunities you have while you’re here to learn, grow, and love others.”

The semester has burnt me out, a lot. It’s something we hear a lot about in the nursing field but I want to talk about what being burnt out looks and sounds like for me. Including apathy, loss of motivation, angry, depressed, anxious, and disorganized. I dislike group work. Period. From early elementary days up to and until now, I have a strong, passionate dislike for group work, especially for a grade. With school being online, it has amplified how much I dislike it. However I must preface with if there is good chemistry among all group members and all similar working ethics and motivation it can be a good experience- but I have had few of these in my education career. Nursing is an incredibly collaborative field. There are a large number of professions involved in the inter professional health care team including but not limited to UCP (family members, PSW/CNAs), nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, OT/PT (A), and many many more. So I do see the benefit of group work, but there is a different element between working in an IPHC Team, and working on a group project for a grade. This semester has been majority group work and group work with the same members over the course of the ENTIRE semester. So if you didn’t jive well with someone because of differing work ethics/schedules/motivation/education background/life experience/ age/ culture/ any other factor, you are with them for the entire semester. This becomes very demotivating and such a source of stress. So for me, group work was a major source of dissociation and burn out for me. I would go to work- use my breaks to work on assignments, come home and use the 1-2 hours before class after work to work on these assignments more, and then when I woke up in the evening before work I would work on them more. Nursing school is a passion for me and my grades are important, as I always want my work to be reflective of me, so I always want to give 100%. continued 👇 https://www.instagram.com/p/CM0iwZAh1DS/?igshid=1ftaxobjmn65h

News24.com | Barry Roux claims church murder accused and deceased belonged to the same faction
Advocate Barry Roux in the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court.
Ntwaagae Seleka, News24
Advocate Barry Roux claimed his clients, arrested for being behind the deadly attack at the International Pentecost Holiness Church killings, were innocent.
Roux said the deceased and his clients belonged to the same faction at the church.
Roux, representing 23 accused, claimed that the investigating officer was falsely implicating his clients.
Popular lawyer, advocate Barry Roux, has told the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court that his clients implicated in the International Pentecost Holiness Church killings are innocent.
Roux said the deceased and his clients belonged to the same faction at the church.
The infamous church has been split into three factions involved in a succession battle for church leadership, following the death of Comforter Glayton Modise.
On 11 July, five people were shot dead outside the church’s headquarters in Zuurbekom.
Two of the deceased were set alight inside a vehicle parked outside the church.
In court on Tuesday, Roux said his team had received an affidavit why the State was opposing his clients’ bail application. He is representing 23 of the 41 accused.
“My clients say police officers made them lie on the ground and told them that they were part of the assailants. This group of my clients was coming from different areas. They said there was a shooting between security officers and people inside the church.
“What the police did was to round up whoever they got there and let them lie down and found weapons and now those weapons are allocated saying they (accused) were found with weapons. There was a shooting between security and people. I don’t know who killed those people. The accused and the deceased belong to the same group,” said Roux.
Roux said some were in a car, and subsequently got stopped and arrested.

Roux said one of his clients, a lawyer, was called by a security company owner and told that his employees have been arrested.
The lawyer and the owner of the security company were also arrested.
“I don’t know what the real knowledge of the investigating officer is. We are forewarning the police. The group is made of different people. One was a security guard who was called and later arrested.
The smouldering shells of two cars that were set alight outside the IPHC headquarters in Zuurbekom where five people died in a hostage drama.
“They have nothing to do with the shooting. People who were killed belonged to the same faction as the accused. Police claim there is a likelihood the accused will evade trial and are flight risk.
“The investigating officer claimed that among the accused are masterminds of the incident. Who are those masterminds? He must show us those people. We are waiting for forensic evidence and [an] identity parade. We have an attorney sitting in custody waiting for his bail application,” said Roux.
“The investigating officer said the case has attracted local and international media attention. Must the accused be sacrificed because they are newsworthy?” Roux asked.
The bail application continues.
