Szczecin Ch F: Vit Kopriva [5] def. Andrea Pellegrino 7-5, 6-2 Match Stats
đ¸ ATP official website
The start of the match might have been chaotic, but V. Kopriva appeared more stable as he went after A. Pellegrino's backhands. Besides aiming at his strokes, he also had decent shot placements under pressure, even producing crucial passes that complemented his service games, overcoming the pressure in some worse moments. As a result, the former generated 8 break points, converting 5 of them throughout the match compared to the latter's 33% break point conversion rate, which only came from the first set.
Furthermore, V. Kopriva also had more consistent serving rate than A. Pellegrino throughout the match. Scoring 5 aces than the unseeded Italian, the fifth seed won 10% more first serve points with 67%, which helped him escape several troubles stemming from his rushed strokes. However, even though V. Kopriva double-faulted 5 times, A. Pellegrino still won 26% of his second serve points, which did not help anything as it became more attack-prone in the second set.
This marked V. Kopriva's first Challenger title of the year, putting himself to 132 live by the end of the tournament. His next tournament will be the Bad Waltersdorf Challenger, where he will face wild card Sandro Kopp in the first round, while A. Pellegrino will face eighth seed Daniel Elahi Galan to start his campaign at the same tournament. Should be an intriguing follow, given the diversity of the field, despite being mostly interrupted by rain in its first 2 days.

Director Stratton Visits Germanyâs Canals & Waterways
Dear Canal Colleagues and Friends:
I recently returned from a remarkable and highly relevant experience, participating in the 2022 World Canals Conference in Leipzig, Germany. There, more than 270 international administrators, engineering experts, economic professionals and canal enthusiasts from 20 countries and four continents convened to discuss the global importance of our inland waterways: âReshaping Landscapes â Waterways in Transition.â
View a digital album of my travels here.
Within the context of a changing world, we discussed new technologies for sustainable water-based economic development, flood protection, options for environmentally friendly utilization. Like so many of our counterparts throughout the world, New York continues to grapple with the challenges of transitioning from an inherently industrial waterway to employing new ideas for a thriving and sustainable recreation-based waterway. My time at the WCC in Leipzig affirmed we are not alone.Â
Similar in purpose to our own Reimagine the Canals initiative, seeing how other countries and communities are addressing some of these very same challenges was both enlightening and inspiring.
Since 1988, Inland Waterways International has presented the World Canals Conference annually in Europe, North America and Asia. Our four-day conference in the heart of Germanyâs Saxony region concluded with an announcement by IWI leaders of the selection of Buffalo, New York as the official site of the 2025 World Canals Conference! Â
Conference Takeaways
Presentations and discussion by dozens of speakers throughout the week built a foundation for facing the key demands confronting our international inland waterways through central themes, including:
Reconciling the impacts of climate change with increased demands upon our natural resources;
Prioritizing drinking water over other anthropogenic uses;
Integrating industrial, commercial, residential land use with tourism to protect water bodies;
Ensuring equal and inclusive public access to our waterways;
Healthy urban waterways are essential to health protection;
Continued investment and modernization of waterway infrastructure in-line with growing demand;
International networking, exchange and collaboration.
Scottish Canals and Waterways of the Czech Republic
Two general session presentations especially relevant to our ongoing work here in New York were delivered by the directors of Scottish Canals and the Waterways Directorate of the Czech Republic.
Scottish Canal CEO Catherine Topley discussed the remarkable transformation and growing economic impact of Scotlandâs 140-mile network of five canal systems and waterways spanning from the southeastern coastal capital of Edinburgh on the North Sea to Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Largely abandoned and forgotten from the mid-1900s forward, Scottish Canals began an aggressive program in 2000 to reclaim its proud canal heritage and vintage waterways. Â
In 20 years, they have been cleaned, re-watered and reopened for tourism and economic development with environmental, health and broad-scale community benefits. Catherine Topleyâs full presentation can be seen here.
Lubomir Fotju, Director of the Czech Waterways Directorate, reviewed his countryâs ongoing efforts to rebuild and modernize aged canal infrastructure for improving commercial and recreational navigation. In just 10 years, Czech waterways have seen an 80 percent increase in pleasure and passenger boat traffic, while additional locks are proposed to enhance maritime industry and power generation along rivers, while providing added environmental benefits. Â
Conference Excursions and Workshops
Berlin Pre-Conference Field Tour - Niderfinow Shipâs Hoists
A pair of colossal technological marvels, old and new, stand side by side on Germanyâs Havel-Oder Canal connecting Berlin with Szczecin and the Baltic Sea. Â The original steel riveted structure, which opened in 1934 under Nazi Germanyâs emerging Third Reich regime, remains fully operational, impeccably maintained and an engineering masterpiece.
Standing adjacent and soon to come online, a significantly larger and more efficient hoist will meet the modern parameters of a Class V European waterway, lifting ships more than 100 feet to complete the canalâs navigation connections above and below. Â
Ships hoists like these replace the need for multiple lift locks, as their larger capacity provides for more rapid transiting of both commercial and recreational traffic over the same distance in a single operation. Â
By isolating watercraft from the navigation channel in a single compartment and through the structureâs lifting process, the massive hoists could provide a protected chamber to ensure ships and recreational watercraft are cleaned of any aquatic invasive species prior to reentering the navigation channel.
Afterward, a peaceful cruise along the pastoral 400-year old Niederfinow Canal through the bucolic German countryside.
Grimma City on the Water- Curse and Blessing
The historic Town of Grimma along the River Mulde is where a âŹ46 million flood protection system of automated gates and architecturally adaptive barriers have been integrated into this picturesque waterside community to guard against repeated and historically devastating flooding.
Mayor Matthias Berger provided conference delegates with a walking tour of the comprehensive flood protection measures installed by the German government following record flooding, which all but destroyed his community in 2002.
Flood protection gates and walls are ingeniously integrated and concealed within the townâs historic walls and streetscapes facing the river.
Saale-Elster Canal and Hitlerâs unfinished locks
Leipzigâs scenic but never completed 18-kilometer Saale-Elster Canal is an economic engine for recreation, tourism and spurring new housing and business development for the cityâs growing millennial population.
But more than 80 years ago, Adolf Hitlerâs vision for the Saale-Elster was to create a large-capacity shipping lane for Germanyâs growing textile and coal industry exports.
Construction began in 1933, and later, a pair of enormous locks were designed to connect the White Elster River with the Saale River. Ultimately, this would enable Leipzig to connect to Germanyâs inland waterway network and on to the Baltic Sea.
The full onset of WWII halted construction in 1943, and the massive staircase of dual locks was never completed. Hitler ordered military and engineering resources redirected in his futile effort to sustain the doomed Third Reich.
The Allied Victory in Europe and the end of the war brought overwhelming and competing economic priorities for a broken Germany. Â
Completion of the project as originally designed, a goal of many local enthusiasts, would not be possible today, as the structure is a protected historic artifact. Meanwhile, Leipzig is actively moving forward on planning and construction of an 18- meter recreational cycling path adjacent to the completed and original planned route of the Saale-Elster Canal.
Frankfurt
An extended layover in Frankfurt allowed me to briefly explore some of this vibrant and cosmopolitan West German city. Â As countryâs historic trading capital for centuries, and todayâs international financial center, Frankfurt combines Old World Charm with a rich cultural vibe, and all at a modern metropolitan pace.
The River Main bisects the cityâs eclectic mix of old and new neighborhoods, providing a splendid walkable feast of museums, culinary offerings and amazing panoramic views of Frankfurtâs nonstop maritime tourism and shipping plying the waters!
World Canals Conference 2025 - Buffalo
The 2022 World Canals Conference in Leipzig was truly inspiring, but as with any extended journey, nothing is quite as enjoyable as returning home.
Now, our focus turns to the future. In that spirit and under the leadership of Governor Kathy Hochul, we join with our partnersâthe Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and Visit Buffalo Niagaraâon planning and preparing for the 2025 World Canals Conference in Buffalo. Â
So, get ready and stay tuned!Â

WinGD Strengthens Its Training As Gas-Fueled Fleet Grows
Marine low-speed engine developer WinGD has strengthened its training capabilities as the number of gas-fuelled vessels on order surges. Among the investments, the company has expanded its network of training locations and added new online tools, making it even easier for ship operators to give their crews the skills they need.
According to DNVâs Alternative Fuels Insight, the number of gas fuelled vessels in operation is expected to grow from 221 today to nearly 500 by 2023. While much energy goes into projecting the supply and bunkering infrastructure needed to support that growth, less focus is placed on the extra demand it will create for seafarer training.
âMarine engines in general are getting more complex and require more understanding from the crew to operate them in an optimal and safe way,â said WinGD General Manager Customer Training, Operations, Gregory Sudwoj. âOur investment in making engine training more accessible is just another way in which WinGD is adding value for ship owners and enabling crew to operate assets effectively and efficiently.â
Image Credits: WinGD
WinGDâs engine operating courses have traditionally been delivered through its owned facilities in Winterthur, Busan and Shanghai. Over the past few years WinGD has enlisted a global network of training partners at locations including the Philippines, India, Greece and Poland. Further locations will follow.
WinGD representatives were on hand earlier this month to celebrate the opening of the new low-speed engine training centre at the Maritime University of Szczecin (MUS) in Poland. The highly specialized training laboratory features a WinGD engine room simulator offering virtual reality training to equip crew with real-world experience. Proper operation and maintenance procedures of complex engine parts and subassemblies are explained with the help of interactive 3D animations.
âThe cost and hassle of travelling is a limitation for whoever delegates crew members for training, especially during the pandemic,â said Gregory Sudwoj. âTogether with partners like MUS we can make access easier and wider, respecting crewsâ time and removing unnecessary expense and complications for the shipowner. With the number of LNG fuelled vessels coming into operation, it is essential that we ensure that our customersâ crew are well equipped with the knowledge and confidence they need to optimize these vessels.â
Image Credits: WinGD
As well as the standard five-day engine operator course, these training facilities can offer a range of additional courses â including those for auxiliary engine-room systems â via computer-based learning.
Online training is another important element of ensuring that seafarers have access to the training they need. Since global travel restrictions began to emerge in February 2020, WinGD has been delivering training digitally. What started as instructor-led presentations with video from the instructorâs simulator have been developed into a full cloud streaming service delivering a truly interactive training experience.
Soon, every participant will be able to run their own computer simulation with the instructor able to monitor and provide feedback. The system has been tested in Asia and Europe and WinGD is now building up server infrastructure for a global roll out.
Aside from expanding access to training, WinGD has also worked with partners to build bespoke simulation training facilities for customers using its X-DF dual-fuel engines. And the company will soon unveil a simulator dedicated to LNG carriers, which feature a different machinery arrangement from other merchant vessels, deploying twin main engine propulsion concept.

The popularity of real estate investment is undeniable given its annual worldwide transaction volume of approximately Us$300 billion a figure that is steadily rising. All in all the total wealth stored in real estate is estimated to run into the trillions of dollars. But investing in real estate has its own challenges especially in investing from one part of the world into another. Unfortunately vast amounts of capital are typically required on order to invest in real estate to enjoy both protection and healthy return on investment and so this asset class is out of reach for most individuals and companies even extremely wealthy ones. The real estate business is by nature a local affair governed by local networks and relationships. They build and/or buy apartment blocks or large scale commercial properties. This requires buying or building expertise and requires identifying and involving the right industry players and government actors using experts who know the medium size/ risk method. Even for those investors who have the necessary capital, conventional methods of real estate investing can be very inefficient. Scope to Polish Real Estate market The housing market in Poland is also marked by phenomena that we have already observed in 2016, but now they have gained additional dynamics. There is still a very good economic situation - both in the segment of new flats for sale and in the secondary market. Probably developers will beat last year's sales record, or over 65,000 new apartments in major cities. Unfortunately, this situation will be translated into prices. Developers build a lot to balance demand. According to government statistical data, from January to the end of September 2017, more than 60,000 apartments for sale have already been delivered. In relation to the same period of 2016, the supply increased by nearly 15%. The companies have started construction of nearly 80,000 flats, which is up to 26 percent higher than in the same period a year earlier. As for the number of building permits - this number was over 98,000 and is close to 30 percent. higher than a year earlier! A sufficiently large supply has so far offset the demand and has not translated into a marked increase in prices. However, many indicate that this period is already behind us. Demand is still very high and prices have started to grow faster. This applies to apartments for sale from both the primary and secondary market. Data from the National Bank of Poland for the third quarter of 2017 shows that price increases were even above 10% during the year in some markets. In the primary market, the highest increases in home prices for sale were recorded in Szczecin (the average price in the third quarter of 2017 was less than PLN 5,400 / sq m, which is a jump of over 11% year on year), then in GdaĹsk, Gdynia, Krakow and Opole . In each of these cities, new housing within 12 months - from 3Q 2016 to 3Q 2017 - went up by 8 percent. What makes a great sale of apartments? The most important elements are: - record low interest rates, hence cheap loans and high creditworthiness of Poles, - general optimism in the national economy, improvement of the financial condition of households Overview of IBA Token The Ethereum blockchain is an open blockchain that works as a decentralized computer, and as such, its source code is nonproprietary and visible to all. Although Ethereum has its own cryptocurrency (Ether or ETH), it also accommodates other cryptocurrencies. Here come our Ethereum token which is built on Ethereum blockchain. The IBA token, because this is its name, adheres to the standards of the Ethereum blockchain and shares with Ethereum a philosophy of creating access and transparency. Ethereum tokens such as IBA naturally offer a number of benefits over traditional currencies in efficiency of transfer. But for a non-government issued token like IBA to be acceptable as an instrument and medium of exchange it needs to be backed by providing real underlying value people can rely on beyond the speculative aspects of many cryptocurrencies available today. Support for currency value traditional or crypto can be achieved with limiting supply or regulating the creation of new tokens allowing people to trade the tokens for other currencies through public exchanges supporting a base value of the token through open market purchases providing an income stream associated with the token or creating a merchant and service provider network that will accept the token as an instrument of exchange. Investment strategy The real estate market offers exceptionally high returns to investors who are diligent and have in-depth market knowledge. House or apartments building have demonstrated strong and stable overall growth. The objective of our IBA token ICO is to raise funds to scale up building companies in the Bielsko-BiaĹa region particulary. From IBA funds we will carefully choose which real estate projects to back up. These projects will offer high yield returns that are otherwise unattainable to individual investors with limited capital. The finals then continued with the Szczecin Challenger, as Andrea Pellegrino, who knocked out Gerard Campana Lee 6-3, 6-4 in a straightforward manner, took on fifth seed and defending runner-up Vit Kopriva, who saved 5 match points to defeat second seed and defending champion Federico Coria 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(4) in the semifinals. While the first parts of the match turned out to be a chaotic encounter, the more consistent one with their range stood out at the end as they got more solid once they finally found their footing.
The setup of the match appeared a little bit topsy-turvy as V. Kopriva initially went after A. Pellegrino's backhand a few times, which also contributed to his earlier break points before the latter's forehand error secured the early break (1-0) only to be broken back due to A. Pellegrino targeting V. Kopriva's more error-prone forehands under pressure (1-1). Despite the possible nervy start, A. Pellegrino continued by holding his serves to 2-1.
Two service game holds later, the Czech fifth seed once again aimed at A. Pellegrino's backhands, asking the necessary questions to his baseline game before he broke to 3-2, where he strengthened his position with a hold to 4-2. Subsequently, a smart forehand pass finish to the unseeded Italian's volley secured V. Kopriva's break point, but the former still kept in touch with a service game hold to 4-3. V. Kopriva then earned the opportunity to serve for the first set within the next two games, but his erratic forehands allowed A. Pellegrino to get back into the match with a break-back (5-5).
However, V. Kopriva strived to shift the moment back in his favor as he started the eleventh game with a functional drop shot, followed by a working volley to set up his two-point lead before forcing A. Pellegrino to err his forehand several points later to break back again (6-5). As a result, V. Kopriva earned his chance to serve for the first set, which he successfully did (7-5) to start this match on the right foot.

Amazon to open its fifth logistics center in Poland | Reuters
WARSAW U.S. online retailer Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) will open its fifth logistics center in Poland this year, it said on Monday, seeking to benefit from the countryâs relatively low wages and proximity to the large German market.
The decision adds to a trend of multinational companies opening shared services and logistics centers in the European Unionâs largest eastern member to tap its relatively large and skilled workforce.
The new logistics center in Poland, where unemployment is already at a record low of about 8 percent, could also help insulate Amazonâs business from the risk of frequent labor strikes in neighboring Germany.
Amazon currently employs over 7,000 people on regular job contracts in its three centers in western Poland, close to the border with Germany.
Last year, it announced the opening of another center in the north-western city of Szczecin, also near the German border.
The company said it had created more than 2,500 jobs in Poland last year and invested more than 3 billion zlotys ($737 million) in the country since 2014.
âAmazon has confirmed today that in the fourth quarter it will open a new logistics e-commerce center in Sosnowiec,â the company said in a statement on Monday. Sosnowiec is a city in southern Poland, near Katowice.
In comparison, the U.S. retailer had about 11,000 warehouse staff plus thousands of seasonal workers last year in Germany, Amazonâs second-biggest market after the United States.
German labor unions have organized frequent strikes at Amazon since 2013 to press demands for the retailer to raise pay for warehouse workers in accordance with collective bargaining agreements in Germany.
Despite robust economic growth in Poland over the last two decades, average gross wages in the corporate sector in Germany are still nearly four times higher than in Poland.
Also on Monday, Amazon said it is set to create more than 5,000 jobs in Britain and more than 1,500 in France this year.

Szczecin Ch QF: Federico Coria [2] def. Jacopo Berrettini 7-5, 7-5 Match Stats
đ¸ ATP official website
Jacopo was supposed to serve for the first set after starting more strongly, but Fefo steadily turned the tables thanks to his offensives. Thanks to his daring approach from the baseline, he also began the second set confidently, but there was a slip of a service game that brought Jacopo back to the match briefly before he regained his offenses in time to break for the match as he capitalized on the unseeded Italian's scoreboard pressure. As a result, even if both players generated 12 opportunities to break, Fefo converted 33% of them throughout the match.
Furthermore, it appeared that both players had their distinct service game strengths throughout the match. Even though the Argentinean second seed scored 2 aces, Jacopo won 7% more first serve points, which helped him alleviating some pressure midway. However, even though both players double-faulted thrice, Jacopo's second serves became more vulnerable, thus he only won 30% of his second serve points compared to Fefo's 42%.
In the semifinals, Fefo will face fifth seed Vit Kopriva in a rematch from the 2023 finals, as the latter defeated qualifier Alexey Vatutin 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. This could be intriguing to see how they dealt with each other's offensives, where out-grinding and how they used their return depths to control the flow. Should be one of the headline matches of the day!

In Szczecin Challenger, the evening continued with the headline match between Jacopo Berrettini, who previously defeated an in-form Jan Choinski 7-5, 6-3 in rhe second set, took on second seed Federico Coria, who defeated Federico Arnaboldi 6-1, 7-6(5) in the Battle of Federicos of the second round, where the second set turned out to be a grindfest between them. As this match turned out to deliver the goods, their final shot execution under pressure turned out to play a significant role in shaping the ending of the match.
Jacopo initially started the match strong as he volleyed his finish to an aggressive beginning before breaking to 3-2 due to Fefo's forehand error. He then consolidated to 4-2, but there was a backhand winner coming from the Argentinean, where even if the latter tried to break, the former still held his serves to 5-3. Fefo then kept in touch with a service game hold to 5-4 before the unseeded Italian earned his chance to serve for the first set, but his 2 failed drop shots set Fefo 2 points ahead before he ended up having break points, where he broke to 5-5 by the end due to a forced error from Jacopo.
Afterward, Fefo strengthened his position with a service game hold to 6-5. Somehow, Jacopo might have been affected by scoreboard pressure, where his backhand error put Fefo two points ahead before the Argentinean had several set points, which was converted 2 points later due to Jacopo's +1 forehand error. As a result, the second seed broke for the first set 7-5 as he started his match on the right foot.

Headlining the evening in the Szczecin Challenger was the "Battle of the Federicos" between Federico Arnaboldi, who knocked out Javier Barranco Cosano 6-3, 7-6(6) in the first round, and second seed Federico Coria (hereby referred to as Fefo for disambiguation purposes), who stunned wild card Olaf Pieczkowski 6-0, 6-3 thanks to a dominant performance. This match evolved to be a pushfest toward its end as the moment shifted back and forth, but only the more consistent one under pressure prevailed as they tried to stay balanced.
Fefo had an aggressive start to the match as he fired a backhand down-the-line winner for an equalizer before going after F. Arnaboldi's forehands, whose errors caused the early break to 1-0. The Argentinean second seed then followed it up with a solid hold to 2-0, and continued targeting the unseeded Italian's forehands before the error caused Fefo to double the break to 3-0. By then, Fefo strengthened his position with a service game hold to 4-0.
Subsequently, even if Fefo pulled a forehand pass winner for another equalizer and forced a deuce somewhere, F. Arnaboldi remained on the scoreboard as he held his serves to 4-1. After the former held to 5-1, he asserted more pressure to F. Arnaboldi, creating his break point through another smooth backhand down-the-line winner, where even if the 2 of the set points were saved, Fefo still baked the first-set breadstick (6-1) to put himself ahead in this match.

Szczecin Ch F: Federico Coria [5] def. Vit Kopriva 6-1, 7-6(4) Match Stats
đ¸ ATP Challenger Livestream (via website)
Kopriva had his moments somewhere, but it was insufficient to turn it around thanks to Fede's power and pace, which overwhelmed Kopriva a lot in the first set. However, Kopriva tried to dig deeper but still did not work at the expense of his pressure point errors right in the second set tie-breaker. This resulted in Kopriva's 100% break point conversion rate, but at the same time, Fede had 20 opportunities to break but only converted 9 of them.
On the other hand, service games became a prevalent issue for Kopriva throughout both sets. Even if both players had a 51% first serves winning percentage, Fede complemented it by scoring 3 aces. The biggest problem from Kopriva lay in his second serves, where he had 7 double faults that faded his winning percentage 15% below Fede, who ended up winning 7% more points from his second serves than his first.
This marked Fede's second Challenger title of the year after the Concepcion Challenger, likely getting him back on track as he marked his return in the Top 100, solidifying it by landing at 82 after this Challenger. On the other hand, this fortnight could still be a positive one for Kopriva, as there would still be ways to reach the top.

While parts of the second set could be chaotic, Kopriva ended up waking up in the middle of the set. However, it was insufficient due to the pressure points, and how Fede ended up utilizing it to shift the moment back in his favor thanks to the aggression that carried him in the first set, just more paced. Here was how everything unfolded.
Kopriva's powerful cross-court forehand pass resulted in the 3 break points, and Fede's forehand rush resulted in the early break for Kopriva to 1-0. However, Fede ended up breaking back 1-1 before Kopriva's forehand rush, followed by a double fault, resulted in Fede breaking back to 3-1 before Kopriva's break-back again thanks to his forehand winner to create the break point, then the volley to convert it to 3-2.
Fast-forward to the ninth game, where Fede should have served for the match at 5-3, this turned out to be another moment where Kopriva had his volley to get back in the match, breaking to 5-4 before leveling the play to 5-5. While hope for a comeback exists when the tie-breaker came two consecutive holds later (including saving 3 match points along the way), it was insufficient at the expense of his backhand error to precede a failed smash, which resulted in Fede's match point before it was converted at the expense of a cross-court forehand rush (+1 misfire), taking the second set 7-6(4) as well as winning his second Challenger title of the year, solidifying his position in the Top 100 after getting back to it this week.

Another Challenger final commenced with Vit Kopriva seeking his second consecutive Challenger title within two weeks after last week's Tulln Challenger, facing fifth seed Federico Coria, who last won a Challenger title back in February (defeating Timofey Skatov in the Concepcion Challenger). While Kopriva advanced at the expense of fourth seed Alexander Shevchenko's retirement down 0-6, 0-1 in the second set (with likely all the three-setters taking a toll on him), Fede scored a solid win by alternate defeating Francesco Maestrelli 6-4, 6-2 in a solid showing.
The first set started with 3 consecutive breaks of serve, where Fede appeared to control the flow through his forehand. He notably had 3 break points, in which the latest came from his forehand passing shot. However, Kopriva's 3 double faults did not help either, hence he got broken only to be broken back before his error spree resulted in another break of serve. Fede successfully held his service game 3-1, but it turned out Kopriva's backhand errors could not help, one of which resulted in Fede's latest break point before he doubled the break 4-1.
Fede then proceeded by consolidating his break point to 5-1, but his aggression did not stop there. After another string of errors from Kopriva resulted in a forever deuce situation, Fede's forehand winner contributed to his latest set point (around the second or third of the set) before he proceeded to serve the breadstick (6-1) thanks to a working smash. This denoted Fede's aggressive play, outplaying Kopriva from his forehand to the latter's backhand side, which might also be visible in the second set.

Szczecin Ch QF: Alexander Shevchenko [4] def. Adrian Andreev 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 Match Stats
đ¸ ATP Challenger Livestream (via website)
The margin was thin between A. Shevchenko and A. Andreev considering their controlled aggression and how they tried to put each otherâs balance off, but most of them came from the scenic routes they took. A. Andreev had his chances with 20 opportunities to break, but A. Shevchenko was clutch enough to save 14 of them, some of which came from his own unforced errors. He maximized his chances by converting 7 out of 15 break points, but the mere question also came from the service games, which contributed a lot in the scenic route.
Despite firing 3 aces, A. Shevchenko had a 1% lesser percentage in his first serves winning percentage than A. Andreev. However, his service games turned out to be risky as he double-faulted four times than A. Andreevâs 1, which faded his second serves until it equalled A. Andreevâs percentage (47%). While the reliance to the second serves might not help in some ways, the risks might have worth the reward as A. Andreevâs follow-ups were often insufficient, but in some cases also resulted in some unreturned serves in the moments that mattered the most.
In the semifinals, A. Shevchenko will face Vit Kopriva, who is on a roll after his Tulln Challenger title against Sumit Nagal, and earlier defeated Flavio Coboli 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. With the second set dip becoming another different question, V. Koprivaâs improved aggression and power could be a good test to A. Shevchenkoâs pacing and balance, whose momentum were often questioned as the match went by, judging by the rollercoasters he had to go through in the past three rounds. Could be an interesting match to see where the moment leaned to!
