Okay I know no one actually asked about the fanfic idea but damn it I really wanna talk about it so here it is:
Invasion of the Ferb Snatchers features some of my favourite sibling interactions between Candace and the Boys. An entire episode of bonding and big sister concern? Sign me up!
Now, obviously, it doesn't actually involve a snatching, but when I only saw the song a while before I saw the ep, I didn't know that. And so, an idea rooted in the back of my mind and sprung once I saw the ep's direction.
Post Invasion of the Ferb Snatchers, Ferb goes to Candace’s room to talk to her alone. She's a little grumpy at first (usual post busting failure anger) but softens when she realizes Ferb wanted to thank her. He was honestly touched by all the things she noticed about him, even in terms of sound. Candace tells him that they would always notice if he was gone.
You probably realise where this is going.
The next day, a shapeshifting alien who Meap is trying to arrest ends up on earth and manages to switch places with Ferb. Said alien is a floating head in a jar, meaning Ferb is limited not to his hands and legs, but mouth (a fact that bugs the selectively mute boy). What's worse? Somehow, no one seems to notice at first (the shapeshifter is that good).
But Candace does. And like the good big sister she is, she won't stop until she finds her little brother, even if it means going to space alone. Meanwhile, Ferb is now stuck in a gladiator prison planet, having to use his very limited resources to escape.
Dw btw, Phineas will realize very quickly too, but I wanna use his obliviousness as a dramatic tool.

since you lovely people gave me horror movie recommendations, ill give some of my own!!
Autopsy of Jane Doe (a recent favorite, suspenseful and has supernatural elements but a lot of the scary stuff is done through implication)
Videodrome (for the freaks out there)
The Fly (im a sucker for anything by David Cronenberg)
Phantom of the Paradise (my favorite horror musical, the music and costume design are amazing)
Ginger Snaps (really compelling story about 2 sisters, once inseparable, growing apart. also werewolves)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (really spooky, its a classic)
Frankenhooker (batshit. absolute nonsense. its so fun)
Re-animator (Re-animator)
Altered States (local man takes so many drugs in a sensory deprivation tank that he devolves into a caveman)
Terrifier and Terrifier 2 (not so much a narrative film as it is a showing of the sickest and nastiest practical effects)
Vampire Clay (BONKERS)
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (real good fun with awesome practical effects)
Audition (Takashi Miike is a fucking menace, great film)
The Lost Boys (punk vampires in the 80s, what else do i have to say)
House of 1000 Corpses (i love you Rob Zombie)
The Love Witch (gorgeous, looks right out of the 60s but with a modern twist)
Suspiria (the original and the remake are great but are basically 2 completely different movies)
Teeth (its teeth)
Vamp (Grace Jones is a cool vampire lady)
The Stuff (BONKERS FUCKING YONKERS)
Mandy (Nic Cage goes crazy with it)
Perfect Blue (rest in peace Satoshi Kon you were a genius)
The Brood (David Cronenberg back at it again)
Arabella Black Angel (classic giallo stuff, murders and the most stunning Italian women you've ever seen)
Poughkeepsie Tapes (found footage thats actually scary)
mother! (most anxiety inducing thing ive ever witnessed, i never ever want to see it again. horrifying. be careful, besties)
Tetsuo the Iron Man (the most bizarre body horror ive seen, its great)
Bone Tomahawk (awesome Western horror)
Tenebrae (Italy loves violence)
there's probably more im forgetting but i can always add more later

This is probably hc territory but what if mc was from the same culture and spoke the language as our favorite monster boys? Like would they enjoy the relatability? And if mc wanted them to meet their family would that affect it. Like i'm Imagining a japanese mc who comes from a superstitious family absolutely fanboying over Mori is a cat yokai/demon.
I think generally that would be a yes across the board. Amir switches languages easily and would have fun speaking Arabic in an environment that didn't include dealings with his family as a nice break.
Mori can be a bit guarded with cultural stuff- mostly in that as an immigrant who spent a LOT of time isolated from any kind of cultural community, he's pretty on alert for people who- wittingly or not, maliciously or not- kinda see him as a novelty aesthetic. Plus, he has complex feelings towards his own background and the disconnect there that are really messy and both positive AND negative so it can be a little bit hard to navigate for him, even if you have the best of intentions as you get closer with him.
THAT BEING SAID, i don't think he's closed off to idea of sharing but he- moreso than the other two- would need a little bit of a slow build up to that- it's mostly kind of an intimacy thing for him. Like, first date, third base, second date, he spends the night, 25th date he might make Japanese food for you.
Amir and Mori both, however, take their demonic forms after traditionally pretty scary monsters and both of them will tease you relentlessly for gushing lol. Amir tells you all about how quarinah (one of the OG night seduction monsters of Arabic lore) could steal your mouth right off your face and Mori's pretending to have full conspiratorial conversations with every cat he passes like they're coordinating a cat-flavored Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
#thank you for asking!#amir#mori#go slow with mori he needs that trust build up!!!#he's probably been burned in the past for trusting too quick too#so patience!#but yeah i think eventually all three would be comfortable with sharing various aspects of their backgrounds

Just popping in re: my ask that you answered about movies and such like last week or so. I've been on an old sci fi movies kick lately, tracking down stuff to rent from my local video rental place.
It stems from endless wondering about the movies Ford missed while he was in the Nightmare Realm and what he'd think of them post-portal. And also, what movies he might have seen growing up, like The Day The Earth Stood Still.
It would be so fun to sit down with him and Stan for a movie night once a week and go down memory lane ☺️
Hope you're feeling a bit better, since you said you were a little under the weather ❤️
Love that for you!!!! I miss going to actually rent videos, we don't have shops like that where I am anymore so I have to use the Lord's illegal internet and I miss the nostalgia that comes with the whole trip out etc. Good memories attached to it as a kid.
As an aside, I think Dipper would have taken great joy in showing him all of the stuff below in canon, too. I live with this happy image of him showing his Grunkle every single one of the movies that came out during Ford's time away and them having a little roundtable chat to discuss each one afterwards haha.
Also you've opened a can of worms by asking me about movies, so good luck from here, soldier.
So, the 80's were THE most formative time for sci-fi movies (and horror) imo, which makes it suck even more that Ford wouldn't have seen them. I kind of write off most of '82 due to the position he would have been in mentally with Bill. I think he fell into the Nightmare Realm much earlier than literally falling in, if you catch my dramatic metaphor lmao.
In '82 alone, we (I wasn't even born then but let me live) got The Thing, Tron, Blade Runner, E.T, Mad Max 2, Poltergeist - which I think is probably more horror but whatever - and more. I mean getting The Thing AND Blade Runner alone in like the same month, I believe, is fucking insane and to think! They weren't even very popular at the time! Not to mention Alien, The Terminator, Predator, Robocop and all the others.
I'm going with this idea that he was a big sci-fi horror fan but he'd have enjoyed both genres separately too. Also monster movies, of course.
Ford really, really missed out on the cinematic decade of the 80's and I would be beside myself to get the chance to show him every single movie he didn't get to see just from that period alone. First time reactions to The Thing are SO good. It's my favourite, can you tell haha
Growing up, I would assume we're talking about a period from the 50's to the 70's? So to start early, we'd have classics like Godzilla and King Kong, for example.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers was '56 but I feel like he'd vibe with that. They remade it later on in about '76 or '78 or something, and it was really fucking creepy. Think he'd dig that. Forbidden Planet was '56 as well.
The Day of the Triffids was '68, I think? I loved that book as a kid and so I'm imprinting on Ford here, but I think he'd have enjoyed the movie and book, too.
In '68 we also have 2001: A Space Odyssey, with my beloved boy HAL. I can imagine Ford berating the crew through the TV like "don't listen to the demonic fucking robot AI! He's obviously going to kill you all, are you idiots?!" and then confidently explaining how he would never fall for HAL's lies (oh sweet subtle foreshadowing save me....).
Incredibly bias addition of Barbarella because HELLO why would he not love that. I bet Stan did too, you'll know why if you've seen it.....
Oh man, also War of the Worlds! He'd go craaaazy for that. Planet of the Apes.
There are so many. I feel like he'd have been a major film nerd in his down time from working. I know a lot of people have this opinion that he did nothing but work/study, and to an extent I agree, but the thought of him (when he was healthier) making time to go to the local movie theatre as a treat or him snuggled up in front of his teeny little television set with snacks is too fun to ignore.
And thank you for the kind words! I'm having days of good and not so good, you know how it is. Appreciate your thoughts <3
#asks#ford asks#oooh he is SOOOOOO!!!!!!!#all scrungly in his pjs in front of the TV watching war of the worlds on a rerun during winter when he first had the shack built!!

I’ve realised recently that animorphs is responsible for exposing me to the type of horror that freaks me out more than anything else; stolen identity. Invasion of the Body Snatchers shit. I was reading Animorphs so young that the concept of what the Yeerks did to people broke my brain somehow. Anyone you know, anyone you love, they could be gone, possessed, mind-controlled, corrupted - and you could never know for sure. All you’re left with is a death sentence of paranoia over whether they’re acting just a little different today, and who might be next.
Related to mimic horror is doppelgänger horror, which also freaks me the fuck out. Jordan Peele’s Us is an obvious example, but again as a child I read a horror story about a boy trying to leave his town through a mountain pass, and realising he’s being chased by this shambling, threatening figure. The boy runs until he reaches a dead end at the edge of a cliff - looking over, he sees his own crumpled body at the bottom. He turns to see the grotesque figure approaching him and realises that this too is himself - mangled and bloody from the fall to the rocks below. The story ended there and lodged itself in my brain.
How do you know if you are you? What if your parents were replaced with people who acted differently? How do you know you won’t be replaced? I think these concepts nagged at me due to (childhood events) and also - I can’t overstate how much puberty/adulthood/compulsory femininity hung over my happiness as a girl like a guillotine. “Oh you’ll change your mind” “You’ll grow out of this [tomboy behaviour]” “You’ll like boys/makeup/dressing up when you’re older” “Your biological clock will make you want kids eventually!” on and on and on. No matter how much I cried and protested that I knew myself.
What does this do to gnc children? To be confidently told by adults that you will be changed whether you like it or not? That the world and even your own body will decide it, against your will? Soon your body does start to change and it’s the most fundamental betrayal. The dysphoria and dysmorphia sets in and now your own reflection isn’t right. For years I was terrified by this. An accidental glimpse of Tetsuo mutating, screamingly aware of it, haunting me at school. Nine years old I was Donald Sutherland in Body Snatchers, sweating and paranoid that one day I was going to be replaced by an unrecognisable hyperfeminine version of myself, so different in every way that mattered to my own identity that I might as well be dead.
I would love to write a horror story about this stuff from the pov of a masc teenage girl… stepford high school… this must be a common fear for gay/gnc children, right? That adulthood meant either being forcibly replaced by a wrong and mutated mimic of yourself, or death? I never succumbed to the body snatching, but there were consequences. For so long the prospect of adulthood was a dark void of nothing. I was either to be the shambling wretched doppelgänger or the body at the bottom of the cliff

hi mx meat ^_^ do u have any horror movie recs for someone who’s trying to get into the genre? classics and such?
omg yes yes yes!!!!
slashers: halloween (1978), a nightmare on elm street (1984), the texas chainsaw massacre (1974), scream (the ultimate slasher, i would watch this after watching the first three listed here), black christmas (1974), you’re next, and a couple of 00’s slasher remakes i think everyone should watch at some point for being total encapsulations of how mean the 00’s were: house of wax (2005) and sorority row (2009)
zombies: night of the living dead (1968), dawn of the dead (1978), day of the dead (1985), 28 days later, train to busan, shaun of the dead, return of the living dead
paranormal: the shining (1981), poltergeist (1982), the changeling (1980), the innocents (1961), crimson peak, the devil’s backbone, ju-on, ringu, pulse (2001), talk to me, candyman (1992)
vampires: the lost boys, interview with a vampire (1994), near dark, fright night (1985), dracula (1931), bram stoker’s dracula (1992), buffy the vampire slayer (1992), the hunger, let the right one in
dark magic/possession/devils and demons: jennifer’s body, rosemary’s baby, the exorcist, the witch, the craft, the omen (1976), evil dead (1981), evil dead 2, suspiria (1977)
creatures: ginger snaps, the thing (1982), alien, aliens, american werewolf in london, the mist, the faculty, the fly (1986), invasion of the body snatchers (1978), it (2017), the babadook, jaws
other: teeth, donnie darko, american psycho, get out, the rocky horror picture show, the phantom of the paradise, carrie (1976), videodrome, may, it follows, hereditary, saw, hellraiser (1987), child’s play (1988), final destination (2000), psycho (1960)
here’s a lil smattering of what the genre has to offer!! i tried to give you some range in eras and subgenres and mood while also maintaining a pretty classic intro list to horror! i hope you enjoy a few of these and if you like one, the best thing about horror is there’s literally 100+ more movies just like it out there, so if you ever need a more niche curated list once you’ve found out what you like just hmu again and i gotchu!!!!! <33333
#bsideheart#ask#<33333#this is my fave ask!!!!!!!#why did i have so many wrong years on here anyways i think i fixed them all

hi you are literally my favorite fanfic author and I love your writing and characterizations so much!!
Hiii thank you, you are too kind!! I’m so glad you like my works!!
(Also if y’all have preferences as to fandom with this ask game let me know. If you’re not on anon I usually try to figure out what fandom you’re following me from so that way you aren’t getting a response about a fandom you’re not a part of but if you have a request from a fandom I’ve written for before I’ll do my best to pick an unwritten fic from that fandom. Absent direction we’ll go with Jujutsu Kaisen for this one since I’m hyper fixated on that right now)
Fic where Fushiguro is unleashed into junpeis school like an invasive super predator.
Yuuji accidentally sees Junpei’s cigarette burns from the bullying while he’s hanging out at his house. And he’s instantly like Come To Jujutsu High This Is No Longer A Murder Investigation It Is Now A Recruitment You Are My Boy Now And Forever Ijichi This Is Junpei Hes Getting In The Car Too Junpei You Are Getting In The Car Too and he gently kidnaps junpei away to the school. He's so damn nice about the kidnapping that everyone cooperates with it. He's just that lovely of a guy.
Nanami: I’m sorry did you not only tell our prime suspect about the investigation but also bring him with you to the school
Yuuji: you don’t have all the facts
Nanami: which are?
Yuuji: I love him
The thing is that Yuuji sweeping him up to the school with him butterfly effects it so that way they discover sukunas finger before his mom is killed by a curse. This also means that Mahitos in the wind and they’re still trying to lure him out. Gojo and Nanami think that Junpei as bait will work, but Yuuji refuses to let him go back to a school where he’s getting hurt alone That’s His Boy Now.
At this point Gojo decides that he can instigate the funniest deep cover mission of his career and says that fushiguro is PERFECT for this job.
He will not explain why.
Yuuji, bouncing with excitement: what do I say to him I haven’t seen him since I got my heart ripped out and died in front of him
Junpei: wait what
Yuuji: I’m so excited
Junpei: go back to the heart thing can we go back to the heart thing
Fushiguro is pulled for a deep cover mission and gets the fun, confetti filled surprise that it’s with his dead best friend.
There’s a lot of shouting.
He refuses to do anything until Kugisaki is brought in too and told yuuji is alive, are you fucking kidding.
There is more shouting.
Now all three of them are going undercover in Junpeis school as a protection detail, ostensibly against mahito but really, it’s because of the bullies. Yuuji has Marked Them For Death. That’s His Boy Forever And Always. He’s only known Junpei for a day but if Anything Happens To Junpei He Will Kill Everyone In This Room And Then Himself.
and so the Junpei Protection Squad is born.
THEIR PLAN IS THUS:
They don’t care about their records. This is a deep cover mission. They go to fucking wizard school. They’re taking junpei in the divorce. There are no consequences for their actions. They can and will cut loose over his safety.
If anyone so much as looks at him weird Yuuji and Kugisaki will descend on them like vengeful gods and kick their fucking ass.
Meanwhile fushiguro will remove junpei, who they’re so happy is here junpei we’re all SO HAPPY you’re in the squad now, from the situation and summon a dog for him for love and happiness. Junpei Fushiguro can summon dogs at will they know it’s the sickest fucking power ever it’s so cool.
That’s it that’s the plan there are no further details to the plan.
The thing is while Fushiguro is the angry emo child of them all, he’s also weirdly the politest of them all? Like, if they’re taking down a purse snatcher, yuuji and Kugisaki are the ones wrestling them to the ground while fushiguro is politely returning the bag. They dont think he has it in him for delinquency. he's just a polite dude even if he's an angry one. he's very organized. he reads nonfiction for fun. he's not a delinquent. He will be in charge of leaving the scene with Junpei so he doesn’t have to become a Delinquent like them.
Fushiguro, who has figured out that gojo pulled him for this mission because he was the most notorious delinquent for thirty miles in middle school: *sweating*
THE ISSUE IS THUS:
Kugisaki and Yuuji are bad at this
They are completely inexperienced in delinquency and it shows
Dear fucking god the incompetence
What do you MEAN you threw down the gauntlet to some bullies and then let junpei go to the bathroom ALONE
Oh god he has to do everything around here doesn’t he
Junpeis trying his best. He actually feels really weird about this all. On one hand he has friends and is going to wizard school after this? On the other hes the embodiment of an angry schnauzer and doesn’t vibe with being a princess in a tower. But also he’s cornered by like five guys twice his size and doesn’t have a huge amount of options to defend himself. This is when the Squad arrives.
The thing is that one of the bullies cornering him presently was a bully in Fushiguro's middle school, for all of ten minutes, because Fushiguro kicked the ass of every bully in the area and forcibly installed his own regime of peace like an angry sea urchin. The reaction of seeing Fushiguro here, with him well within punching distance, while he's fucking with someone who is apparently a personal friend of Fushiguro Megumi is around the kind of reaction that someone would have during the Resurrection when 72 hours previous they were the guy holding the hammer and nails. he apologizes profusely, cries hard enough to pass out, and has to call his mom to come pick him up. He immediately drops out of that school and is never heard from again.
It makes an impression.
Yuuji: :o
Kugisaki: :o
Fushgiuro: *sweating* we're late for math
This basically is enough on its own to signal a struggle for dominance within the school's bully hierarchy that fushiguro doesn't actually want to be a part of. The sister he never once mentioned before this moment is going to be sad at him if she finds out he did this again. he's trying not to do this again. his sister will be SAD.
But also his delinquent instincts run deep and he succumbs before lunch is over. Fuck it he's returning to his delinquency days and taking over the school. Kugisaki stop filming this.
And Yuuji and Kugisaki would help but somehow it was decided by the rumor mill that they + junpei were Fushguro's mob wives (Yuuji Climbed On Top Of Him and pressed his forehead directly to fushiguro's and said "fushiguro fushiguro what are they talking about what did you DO to them" and everyone decided that he had to be a mob wife to not get his ass kicked for this and Junpei and Kugisaki were picked up by the rumor mill due to proximity) and this is quite frankly the funniest fucking thing that's ever happened to them. actually you know what? YES. they are his mob wives. they are each other's mob wives too. They're living a slice of life student anime bliss while fushiguro is getting in fights behind the school three times a day minimum. they love being mob wives. there's so much power and so little effort and endless potential to tease fushiguro with. they're taking videos for future blackmail.
Of course Mahito eventually has an entire attack, but he puts his filthy bitch hands on fushiguro and sukuna immediately rocks his shit so hard that the curse is simply Blitzed in a matter of seconds.
and then Sukuna has to cover up the fact that he's willing to protect fushiguro so he pretends that this is just a capricious whim because Mahito was annoying and has to save everyone to cover it up. He can be helpful sometimes. Ohhh look at him he's soooo helpful you know what just shut the fuck up and be grateful. he hates all of you.
Kugisaki: so are we going to talk about it
Fushiguro: under no circumstances no
kugisaki: okay but that was WEIRD right
Fushiguro, hasn't been this distressed since the last time he had to deal with sukuna: stop talking about it
Junpei, who no one told about sukuna, has had a long day: sorry who was that. why did he rip off his shirt.

Festivids Recs
What a bonanza of great vids! I received three wonderful vids this year:
So Wrong (Desert Hearts): A lovely, romantic vid to one of my favorite lesbian films, set to one of my favorite country songs! Perfect ending.
Movin' Right Along (Wizard of Oz): This vidder had the clever idea to make a road trip vid for WOZ! It's set to a Muppets song, so peak childhood nostalgia on two fronts.
Twistin' the night away (Wizard of Oz): Obsessed with this concept! Love all the topsy-turvy-twisty clips they found — so fun to watch. And, of course, Sam Cooke!!
Beyond my gifts, I enjoyed so many vids this year. Trying to narrow down my list a bit (and limiting myself to one vid per fandom for now), here are 22 of my faves:
If You Tolerate This (Casablanca): This vid is uncompromising. Really appreciate the focus on politics over romance.
What I Did for Love (Pushing Daisies): Did not know what to expect with this song choice, but wow! It works so well for the terrible trade-offs Ned's gift has, while the vidder also captures everything I love about him and Chuck.
Dollhouse (Mad Men): Killer Sally and Betty vid. Perfect clip selection and a POV I've been dying to see vidded.
f a b u l o u s (Derry Girls): Both Derry Girls vids were a blast but I was so chuffed to see a Sister Michael vid. More eye rolls than any other vid has ever contained!
Tightrope (Blazing Saddles): Captures Bart in all his Bugs Bunny-esque glory. Obsessed with featured artist Gene Wilder.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Some Like It Hot): Terrific cover for this! Just a blast from start to finish.
Hall of the Hot Ones (Hot Ones): Speaking of amazing song choices...this one just made me laugh like crazy. Vidder did an amazing job on the build up.
Things Are Gonna Get Easier (Abbott Elementary): I don't watch the show but I'm a sucker for sitcom vids and really loved both vids! This one hit me right where I live as a teacher.
Campaign Playlist (Dungeons & Dragons): Super clever concept, well-executed.
Plastic (Problemista): I was so hoping someone would make a vid about Julio Torres making weird little things, and they did! What a great song choice. The "Is there recycling?" sequence goes on so long and just gets funnier.
Unwritten (Stranger Than Fiction): I was surprised by how much I liked this movie, and this vid captures it so well! An oft-vidded song that I never get sick of but that also has rarely been deployed so literally and so well.
I'm a Man (Challengers): Loved all three Challengers vids and want 10000 more but I was especially thrilled that someone made a Tashi character study!
I Just Wanna... (Feel Good): Feels like it could be a (terrific!) promo for the show. Great, economical Mae Martin character study and I love the use of a song from a standup album.
Cross My Heart I Hope U Die (Severance): Again, I was really into all three Severance vids, but shouting this one out specifically for the very clever song editing. The whole vid keeps you off-kilter.
The Breaking Light (The Stand): A very moving vid all about a community coming together to face great hardship and evil. Everything I love about the source.
Don't Rain On My Parade (New Life Begins): I know nothing about this source, but all the food!! The energy!! The song clearly matches the chutzpah these women are displaying.
Body of Years (I Saw the TV Glow): Incredible editing. It's incredible to see someone do something so different with a source you've vidded before.
Pisonia Prologue (Invasion of the Body Snatchers umbrella): So cool that someone took Tessa up on this prompt! Love all the shots through windows and shadows. Such a creeping sense of paranoia throughout.
Remember I'm Alive (Wayne Family Adventures): Jason!! My boy! This is so emotional and does really great work with a static source.
The White Tent The Raft (Films from the National Board of Canada): Such a labor of love. It's 9 minutes long and worth it — reminds me how much I love the art form of animation.
Arnaq (Woman) (True Detective: North Country): The vidder's clip selection is so thoughtful as they find the moments of women in the background, women's hands at work, women coming together. Very cool.
Maps for the Getaway (Holiday): For some reason DW ate my first review of this which is fine because it was very tl;dr. The short version is I LOVE this, it feels like it was made for me, I cry every time, and "all we have is time" feels like the thesis of this movie.
