For InuKag Week 2024. Prompt: personal space. Something short and sweet.

Kagome was minding her business and staring at her geometry textbook when a shadow was cast over its pages. She grunted and looked up at Inuyasha accusingly, who stared intently at her in return. 

“What?” Her voice was a little muffled because she was eating candy. The look on his face told her he was gearing up to do something. “You said we were talking a break!”

“Whatcha eatin’? Smells good.”

“A lollipop.” Kagome pulled it from her mouth with a pop and showed him the translucent green sucker. She learned that Shippo’s least favorite flavor was melon, which meant there was a small stash she had to finish before going home, or else her mother wouldn’t replenish the candy stock. He stared at the glossy surface and it made her wonder if she’d ever seen him express interest in sweet food. “Too bad it isn’t ramen flavored, huh?”

Inuyasha took the lollipop from her hand and tasted it.

“Hey! Get your own!”

“Needs work,” he mumbled, smacking his lips. “I get why Shippo didn’t like this one.” 

“Melon is a fine flavor—” In the middle of her sentence, he stuck the lollipop back in her mouth. She closed it dumbly and she felt her face heat up. 

“What?”

She turned away from him and buried her face in her classwork. “I’m going to study now!” Her voice sounded a little nervous to her ears, but Kagome hoped that he wouldn’t notice.

This is genuinely one of my favorite little throwaway moments from the manga (that got cut from the anime btw). We have Kagome keeping up a relentless march simply because she saw how many people died to Naraku's latest attack, and that motivates her to stop him even if she's on the brink of wearing herself out. We have Miroku being a good friend and tactfully taking note to point it out to Inuyasha, who's too absorbed by a similar motivation at the moment. Then he just casually tells him he can't just tell a girl he likes her before being a slave driver, Inuyasha not bothering to try denying he did in fact confess to her (which Miroku was eaves-dropping on as usual lol) while Kagome claps in "you tell 'im" approval. Meanwhile Myouga realizes he's missed a lot since he's been gone. 😂

"Sorry, can't. She's too cute."

Hello, yes I'm still alive! Real life has been kinda crazy and I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up which puts a big dent in my creating time. But when @dawnrider sent me a pic of a dad and a toddler wearing these shirts, I couldn't resist doing a quick before bedtime sketch to add to that cheesy couple tshirt series I started ages ago.

You guys know on how InuYasha, the few times he talks about it, badmouths his father and says he doesn't care to avenge his death when he battles Ryukoltsei?

I wonder if InuYasha starts to regret his mindset towards his father once he himself becomes a father. Or at the very least, he starts to understand his father better. Especially if you want to go by the Movie 2 canon where part of Toga's death was from protecting InuYasha and his mom.

Just makes me wonder if InuYasha looks at Moroha or any of his other children and has the thought that it'd break his heart if any of his kids felt resentment towards him like he felt for his own father, especially when everything he ever does is to protect them. And I wonder if it makes InuYasha start to look at his father's memory differently, now that he's a parent himself and would do anything and everything to protect his kids, even if it meant dying and leaving them without a father.

Not that he'd go and try to get himself killed, as he wants to actually be alive so they don't have to grow up like he did, but you know he'd sacrifice himself if it meant his children could live, just like his father did for him (according to movie 2).

I don't know, I just wonder if InuYasha starts to ever regret the way he looked at his father's memory back when he was a teen once he becomes a father to Moroha and starts to understand his father's actions as a parent now that he himself is a parent. Ya know what I mean?

People who ship Sesshoumaru with Kagome because he would be more "mature" and treat her "better than Inuyasha" crack me up, tbh.

Y'all, where have you been? Obviating that Yashahime canonically turned him into a groomer, this is the most emotionally stunted character I've ever laid my eyes on. He's got anger issues, daddy issues, mommy issues, he's insecure, jealous, violent, classist, racist, petty, has the emotional maturity of a toddler and only knows how to solve problems by hitting things.

And sorry to be the one to tell you this, girlies, but just because he's quiet and weird doesn't mean he's smart. He's as dumb if not dumber than Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru's a HIMBO. He would most certainly NOT be good for Kagome, and I'm saying this as someone who actually likes Sesshoumaru. I just accept him for who he is, unlike y'all.
