The clinking of cutlery upon plates and chatter among friends fills the small island tavern with animated joy and serene relief. Brook plays the violin somewhere to the left side of the room, though the eager blathering of the crew drowns out the more finer notes and melodies played.
A well-deserved interruption and a welcome change from the unpredictable nature of the past few day’s events – though for Zoro, it’s a distraction that’s come to an end. Despite the crew being whole again, he still feels a hollowness within – something no amount of eating or drinking or fighting can fill.
And it’s entirely his fault.
You sit across the table from him, sipping at a near-empty glass of wine and discussing something inaudibly with Usopp. He can’t quite read your expression from where he’s seated, but you look interested enough in the conversation.
And if it’s obvious to himself that he’s keeping you at arm’s length, it’s clear to anyone with a working conscience that he’s doing his utmost to avoid you. The many longing gazes from his peripheral do not go unnoticed, but he dares not to look – for the hurt in your eyes would crush him and sear and stain into his soul.  A far-flung difference from the camaraderie that came before all of this, when the two of you were rarely found an inch too far apart from one another – and now Zoro can’t even look you in the eye. After his many imagined intimate rendezvous, how could he?
With you distracted, he lets his eye wander across your face, to the length of your arm, down to the glass pinched between your fingers – but it comes to rest upon your lips. He watches, transfixed on the flight peek of your tongue behind your teeth when you speak, how your lips twist with each syllable, how they purse when you’re in thought, and the way they stretch across your cheeks when you smile.
Zoro’s throat tightens, a sharp dagger of guilt carving into his chest. He forces his stare to the table, the tiniest sliver of your form still lingering in the corner of his vision. You’ve journeyed this far, fought, bled, and laughed together. And now, for once, he’s unable to find the words to say.
The weight of his inaction bears down on him, leaving him listless. The only respite he’s found is in the distraction of a battle, a thudding, a clash, steel ringing against steel. In those moments, he’s alive, he’s focused, and the words that plague his every waking thought cease to exist. But without the battle, Zoro is left with nothing but the echoes of unspoken desires.
His hand trembles, gripping his mug of ale as he brings it to his lips. The bitterness of the brew does little to quell the fire in his chest. He’s a swordsman, a pirate – not a poet, bard, or a man of words. It’s a mess of feelings. Lust, want, longing, love, all these indescribable sensations that only serve to make Zoro feel weak and helpless and vulnerable when faced with them. He feels like a coward, daring never to speak to you again, never to confess his feelings, and never pulling you into his arms and kissing you senseless.
Zoro’s eye meets yours for one singular fleeting moment, the intensity of the connection making his heart race. He knows he can’t keep up this charade, this dance of avoidance – but how does one even confess to these feelings? How does one bridge the gap between comrade and lover? He scratches his chin, trying to come up with a solution, but all he can think of is a single, frustrating fact: he can’t keep running.
Whether it’s every empty bottle he’s seen the bottom of tonight, the last of his resolve wearing thin, or just the sheer guilt of it all that drives him suddenly to his feet, he isn’t sure. Inhaling one of the deepest breaths he’s ever taken, he silently trudges around the table to where you’re seated.
At first, he hovers awkwardly so as to not interrupt the conversation you’re having. Both hands come to rest at either side of the back of your chair and he can feel his pulse through his fingertips on the wood – and when you tilt your head up to look at him, a curious smile twitching at the edges of your cheeks, he cracks.
Zoro clears his throat and forces his gaze. “I need to talk to you for a sec.”
His voice is hoarse as he asks, and he hopes you can’t hear the nerves that lie beneath his words. Surprised by how much he’s sweating and how his heart races against his ribcage, he swallows to regain some semblance of composure.
“It’s important,” he adds, trying not to stumble over his thoughts. It’s a pitiful excuse, but all that comes to mind amidst the maelstrom of emotion in his head.
“Oh, yeah – of course!” You reply with raised brows and begin to stand. Zoro allows you the room to move, taking a step back from the table. “Sorry, Usopp,” you say as you turn and give him a weak shrug, “Remind me where we left off later?”
“No prob!” The sniper shoots a thumbs-up and the two of you exchange a wave before you turn to follow Zoro away from the lively table and out of the tavern.
Zoro leads you to a quiet spot by the docks nearby, where the salty scent of the sea mingles with the faint tang of fish and the distant hum of the island. He can’t bring himself to look at you, electing instead to focus on the water and the twinkling reflection of the night sky in the soft waves.
“Everything okay?” You ask softly, taking a few steps toward him and assuredly taking note of his hesitance. “What’s up?”
“I missed you,” Zoro replies, fixated on the sigh of the shifting tides lapping at the wooden posts below. “A lot.”
“I missed you too, Zoro, but what’s so urgent?” The concern in your tone is apparent and caring, and normally works to soothe him when his mind runs rampant – but this moment, this situation he finds himself in, it does the opposite.
“No,” Zoro shakes his head, his fingers twitching at his sides. “I missed you - differently from the others.”
“Differently?”
Zoro’s jaw clenches, and part of him wants to jump into the ocean and swim as far away from the island as his arms will take him. The honest admission hangs heavy on his tongue, the weight of the years of denial suddenly threatening to push it out. He pauses, opens and closes his mouth a few times, then finally, with a shaky exhale, he looks you straight in the face.
“I love you.”
The admission hangs between you, the weight of years of suppression. Zoro shifts his weight from one foot to the other, twinges of regret creeping up the nape of his neck.  It takes you a moment to reply, and considering the nature of the confession, it's reasonable. Zoro's nerves feel like hot coals beneath his skin as he watches your face for any sign of an answer.
“...for real?” Your gentle response fills his entire being with a wistful spark of hope.
Zoro's fingers curl into fists. "Yes, for real," he confirms, still not looking up. His heart thuds painfully in his chest, a heavy, leaden weight. All his hopes and fears rest on the outcome of this conversation. He's unsure if he could handle rejection, but he can't go back to the pretense any longer. Zoro swallows, tasting bile at the back of his throat. "I should've told you before now, but I... I'm an idiot.” He lets out a humorless laugh, his voice quiet.
He isn’t sure when you move, but a smaller, softer hand wraps around his – and in an instant, he feels himself relax into your touch. Zoro relaxes his grip, allowing your fingers to entwine with his.
He snaps his gaze towards you, his heartbeat ringing loudly in his ears. You peer at him, a sweet, crooked smile on your lips and a blush across your face. And when your free hand finds purchase on his cheek, Zoro finds himself leaning in.
You meet him halfway in a genuine, tender kiss that sends a jolt of electricity coursing through him. Zoro's arms wrap around you and pull you close. The world around falls away as you both delight in the embrace. The kiss is gentle, delicate, and filled with longing. It floods him with an unexpected warmth – and for once, he can't think of the past or the future. He's simply lost in the present moment.
When you finally pull away, Zoro can't help but lean into your palm on his cheek with a bit of a dazed smile on his face. Holding onto your hand, his other hand slowly moves to cup your cheek in return. His heart is pounding, his mind a blank slate tinged with overwhelming happiness. He's lost in your gaze, unable to speak, but he doesn't need to. The moment says everything.
"Do you know how much I missed you?" you murmur, lips ghosting his and thumb trailing upward to gently trace the lower half of the scar that now covers his right eye. "How often I thought of you?"
And then you say it - the words he's only imagined hearing you speak.
"I love you, too.”
Zoro's chest tightens, a lump forming in his throat as he meets your gaze, his heart swelling. Words fail him, the raw emotion in his gut silences his voice.  A slow smile spreads across his lips, a look of awe and joy shadowing his features. He doesn't need words. The simple fact that you feel the same is enough to fill him with warmth and peace.
Leaning in again, Zoro captures you in another deep kiss – a deep and soulful kiss that speaks volumes. He's consumed by the feeling of being with you, of finally being able to express his love. His hand moves to cup the back of your head, pulling you closer, and he kisses you with all the passion and longing he's suppressed for far too long.
You sigh into him, the sound willingly swallowed by Zoro’s growing hunger. Arms wrap around his shoulders and you press yourself into him, the opened-mouthed kiss quickly turning into a twist of tongues dancing together in a frenzied rhythm with audible smacks of saliva mixing with each meeting of your lips. His hand clutches your hair more firmly, his other hand slipping around her waist to pull you impossibly closer.
The gesture is all-consuming, a whirlpool of desire and affection that leaves him lightheaded. For the first time in years, he feels like he's truly alive, his heart beating in perfect harmony with yours.
Slowly breaking the kiss, Zoro's lips ghost over your jawline, trailing down to your collarbone as he breathes in your scent, savoring every moment. He wants to memorize the taste, the feel, and the sound of your breath as his hands roam over your body, his heart beating a furious tempo.
You let out a small gasp when his lips touch your sensitive flesh, your body reacting to his every move. Goosebumps raise in the wake of his fingertips as he nibbles at your neck, causing your grip to tighten and for you to moan softly into his ear.
Part of Zoro wants to take you here and now, but what remains of his will stops him. He growls into your neck and lifts you up fully and, – with a little assistance from you –  heads in the direction of the ship anchored nearby. The others wouldn't be back for a while, so why not take advantage of the privacy?
You’re weightless in his arms as he carries you away from the bustle of the small island village and towards the deck of the Thousand Sunny. Zoro can feel himself growing hard beneath the fabric of his pants as you kiss and nip along his neck, giggling in his ear when he retaliates with a playful squeeze to your rear and a rumbling growl against your skin.
He wastes little time pushing the door to the men’s quarters open with the tip of his boot, his grip on your hips tightening when he moves to lift you onto the nearest bunk, one hand still clutching your waist while the other travels up under your shirt to caress your chest, deft hands making quick work of unhooking your bra and tossing it aside to be forgotten.
Zoro’s breathing hitches, his eyes dark and lustful as he dips his head to suckle at the swell of your breast. He can feel himself twitching against your thigh, and despite his inexperience, he wants nothing more than to please you.
He kisses down your body, taking a nipple into his mouth and flicking it with his tongue while his hand roams, finding your core already soaked with desire. He pauses, fingers grazing over your clothed slit and feeling you shiver in pleasure. Zoro murmurs your name, and snakes his fingers beneath the waistband of both your shorts and panties before sliding them down your legs in one motion, leaving you naked and bared before him. His own pants follow suit, quickly discarded next to yours.
Zoro's hand finds its way between your thighs again, spreading your folds with ease, and he lowers his head to kiss you once more, his tongue probing your mouth as his fingers gently stroke your clit, drinking in your soft moans.
"Show me." He whispers just loud enough for her to hear. His expression is a loving one, though she notes the slightest bit of hesitance in his words.
Show me how you like it.
You nod and guide his fingers, taking two of the large digits and easing them in circles on your clit. "Not too rough, though," you say patiently, letting go of him with a soft sigh and an encouraging smile.
Zoro hums in acknowledgment, his thumb and forefinger doing as you ask, the slickness of your pussy allowing his fingers to move easily as he continues to tease at your clit. His other hand rests on your hip, steadying you as his thumb rolls over the sensitive bundle of nerves, eliciting small moans from you.
Zoro brushes the tip of his finger against your entrance in an experimental move, and by the way you wreathe and whine, he's urged to continue his work. He slides one past your folds and inside of you, making your toes curl and your back arch.
"Shit–" You sputter out between breathless sighs of desire. "Feels really good..."
One finger becomes two, your inner walls clenching around them as he scissors them in and out of your pussy. There's a wet slosh of sound coming from where you meet, your wetness audibly coating his fingers and dripping down down his wrist.
Zoro's breath hitches at the sound of your pleasure, his eyes dark with desire as he watches your reaction. He's entranced by how your body responds to him, and he can't help but lick his lips as he continues to finger you. He adds a third, the stretch making you gasp and tighten around him.
His pace increases, his fingers swirling and thrusting within you, and he watches as your body writhes and arches beneath him. He can feel the tension building in you, the way your breath hitches and your eyes flutter closed.
"Do you want me inside you?" Zoro asks, his voice low and thick with need. He's anxious to give you pleasure, but he's struggling to keep himself from joining his fingers inside you.
"Please," you whine, eyes wide and watery with pleasure but red hot with the need for more. "Need you, Zoro."
Zoro's heart beats wildly in his chest, his own need for you overwhelming as he pulls his fingers from your slick warmth and licks them clean before sitting back on his heels to position himself between your legs. He lines his cock up with your entrance and looks into your eyes, the passion reflected in his own.
Without warning, he thrusts forward, plunging deep into your tightness. You're hot and wet around him, and he lets out a growl of satisfaction as he bottoms out. He pauses for a moment, allowing you both to adjust and to revel in the feeling of being connected. He pulls back, slowly at first, then picks up the pace as he leans over you, the headboard digging into the wall with each forceful thrust. Zoro's eyes never leave yours, his gaze locked as if he's trying to absorb every detail of your expression.
Each stroke of his cock against your walls feels heaven-sent, and the taste of you that lingers on his tongue drives him crazy with want. Nails dig into the flesh of his triceps and your back arches, a song of passion belting from between your lips, a serenade made for him and him alone.
Zoro grunts at the sound of your pleasure, his thrusts becoming even more ferocious as he watches your reaction, the sight of you so lost in ecstasy driving him to the brink. He grips your hips, holding you steady as he pounds into you, the sweat glistening on your skin as your bodies collide.
The moonlight trickling in from the window illuminates your body below him. It's a sight better than anything he could dream, your face contorting in bliss and ecstasy, hands clinging harshly onto him as if he'd disappear if you let go. Savoring a feeling that neither wants to forget.
"You're so fucking perfect." Zoro growls, leaning over you to kiss you feverishly, his tongue seeking yours as he fucks you. He can feel the tension building, the way your body tenses and your nails dig into his skin, and he knows you're close. He wants to give you this moment, wants to make you cum as much as he wants to feel it himself.
"Come on," he urges, his voice thick with lust. "Let go for me." The words were a warning, a promise that he wasn't going to last much longer..Zoro increases the pace of his assault, his own release imminent as he watches your face, your eyes half-lidded and flushed with pleasure. Together, you move, driven by the primal need for release.
Zoro's thumb meets your clit, matching the rhythm of his thrusts with the speed of his ministrations. The dual stimulation pushes you over the edge, crying out butchered attempts at his name as your body convulses around him, your orgasm washing over you in waves. Zoro can't hold back any longer, feeling his own climax building as he watches you.
With a roar, he lets go, burying himself deep as he cums, the spasms of your walls milking him as he shudders and groans into your ear, seed spilling inside of you. He pants heavily, leaning over you as he rests on his forearms, his forehead meeting yours. He stays like that long enough to press a quick kiss to your lips before collapsing atop you with a very exhausted, but very relieved sigh.
You breathlessly hold him close. Cradling his sweaty form to your chest, one hand makes its way into his moss-green tresses to lightly scratch at his scalp. Zoro lets himself relax, letting out a sigh and nestling into your shoulder. He closes his eyes, feeling thoroughly sated in your embrace.
Zoro pulls out of you eventually, gently rolling off your body to rest. He pulls you into his side as he nuzzles into your hair. "I love you." He whispers, his voice soft and tender and almost unrecognizable.
Snuggling into his side, your hand still lazily strokes his head. "I love you too," you reply, voice equally tender, and a smile playing at the corners of your lips.
Your soft touch and tender words soothe Zoro, your shared connection cemented in the aftermath of passion. He wraps an arm around you, pulling you closer as he feels himself drifting off to sleep, a smile still lingering on his lips. The words you whispered echo in his mind, a warm feeling settling in his chest – and together, in each other's arms, you find peace.

My brain is going whirr whirr whirr so here’s a random lesson/unhinged rant on romanization. What is romanization? It means using the letters of the Latin alphabet (in this case I really mean the English alphabet) to represent a different script. Obviously I’ll be talking here about how we represent the Thai script (which I know is technically an abugida not an alphabet, don’t @ me). The way I see it, there’s two basic reasons to do this.
To make the word more pronounceable/memorable/understandable for people who speak languages that use the Latin alphabet. For example you’re a learner who doesn’t know the Thai alphabet 100% yet and you want to make notes on a word you just learned. Or you’re putting up signs for tourists, where it doesn’t really matter if they can pronounce the name of the place properly as long as it matches what’s in their guidebook.
Technical limitations. For example, someone from a country with a different writing system has to fill out their name in a form that only accepts latin letters. Or maybe you want to message a friend in Thai over in-game chat but it doesn’t support Thai. Or maybe you could theoretically be typing in Thai but you have a US keyboard so it’s just easier to turn to romanization instead.
One thing relevant to me, and probably anyone reading this is the romanization of character names. I see it as a combo of 1 and 2. Obviously the audience needs a memorable way to think of the character and also it would be bizarre to randomly switch into Thai in the middle of the English subs, if the software even lets you do that.
There are two basic categories of romanization. Transcription is where you use the Roman alphabet to represent the sounds of thai, and transliteration where you basically just substitute English letters for Thai ones. The big difference between the two is going to be with ending consonants, since there are different pronunciation rules for initial consonants than for when that letter is the final consonant of a syllable.
THERE IS NO STANDARD SYSTEM FOR ROMANIZING THAI
Okay, well there is the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS), and it is official, but even the government doesn’t use it consistently and also I hate it, which is what really matters. It’s terrible for English-speaking learners because a lot of choices are misleading. Think of all the people who cannot pronounce ‘Phuket’ because in English ‘ph’ is ‘f’ but in RTGS it’s an aspirated ‘p’ (so to me just a normal ‘p’). This would be okay though if you gained a basic familiarity with how RTGS worked, or just looked up a chart or something. Much worse is the fact that the combination of letters ‘ch’ are used to represent two completely different sounds in Thai. Part of me wishes translators would always use RTGS so we could have consistent subs, but then I remember it’s terrible and most Thais do not use it for their names in reality. The good thing about RTGS is that since it doesn’t use any diacritic markers or other non-Latin characters it’s useful when technical limitations are the issue.
Most materials for learners will use some form of transcription, but this will vary wildly. I had my own personal system at one point, but didn’t end up using it much because I stopped taking notes and switched to listening only. However, now I'm all about the Thai alphabet.
There are downsides to transcription. One is that many sounds in Thai simply do not exist in English, so any attempt to transcribe fundamentally won't allow an English speaker to intuitively pronounce it correctly. Another is that the pronunciation of the same word can vary, which you’ll see a lot with any word containing ‘ร’. Formally (or sarcastically), this will be a rolled ‘r,’ but normally people pronounce it ‘l’ (if it’s pronounced at all, in consonant clusters people just drop it and they also tend to drop actual ‘l’ sounds in clusters). So of course it makes sense to be written ‘r,’ but it’s not going to sound like that most of the time, so is that really transcription at all? Also our own letters don’t actually correspond to specific sounds in English, so English is a fundamentally terrible language to try to transliterate things into?
The advantage of transcription, where you just swap a Thai letter for an English one, is that it’s very easy for someone who is Thai. They can just spell the word in Thai in their head and make the substitution, no worries about how it actually sounds. I don’t mind transcription at this point, since I am starting to get the hang of final consonants, and in some cases it helps me guess at the Thai spelling of the word. Buttttt it’s not actually that helpful for that since there are lots of cases where multiple Thai letters make the same sound.
Whatever you’re doing, you have to wrestle with the fact that Thai has tones, so if you’re not representing the tones somehow, you definitely won’t be able to pronounce a word properly based on its romanization. And if you’re using romanization for reason 2, technicla limitations, it may be literally impossible to represent tones. RTGS doesn’t bother with tones. Or vowel length. So that’s great.
If you want to actually learn to pronounce a word in Thai and don’t know the Thai script, your best bet is IPA. The International Phonetic Alphabet is a standard way to represent sounds, so it’s super useful…if you know IPA. Or if you want to look through some charts and listen to some audio files to learn how to pronounce one specific thing. It’s not useful for resolving technical limitations because it uses lots of symbols not in the Latin alphabet. And unless you want to be a polyglot, why waste time learning IPA when you could just learn the Thai script? Also it doesn’t do tones.
Here’s a website where you can plug in any thai text and get a transcription, including in IPA. There are many options. If you do it with a character’s name, you can try those options and it’s totally possible none of those will match what you see in the subs because the actual human is using transliteration/their own random system that is not one of the things listed/there's a canon romanization of the character's name. But also because sometimes it's just wrong. Have fun.
For more resources on pronouncing Thai I recommend Stuart Jay Raj. His way of talking about things takes some getting used to, but his ‘indic compass’ is actually pretty useful. If you set it to show Thai, you can click on a letter to hear it and see how it’s supposed to be made in the mouth. I also like his video on vowels.
For more on Thai names, see @recentadultburnout’s posts on Thai name meanings.
Because I’m currently obsessed with Century of Love, the rest of this is using the two actors, Daou and Offroad, as examples:
Did you know that Daou’s name had two syllables? My mind was blown when I heard it.
Thai: ต้าห์อู IPA: tâː ʔuː RTGS: tau The way I would write it for myself: dta-oo
Absolutely no way I was getting that from reading 'Daou.' That first letter is an unaspirated, unvocalized alveolar consonant, and I know what that means because despite not being great at IPA, I am pretty obsessed with how in the mouth sounds are made. Basically it’s like ‘d’ or ‘t’ without actually being either of them. ต้า is the first syllable and ห์อู๋ is the second, but this is not a reading lesson, let's move on.
Offroad’s name is literally the English word ‘off-road’ like a jeep. In Thai script it’s ออฟโรด (not just his name, also when discussing motor vehicles). The site gets this one 'wrong,' putting an 'f' when that's not what 'ฟ' does as a final consonant, but closer to actual English word, so I used charts for this.
Thai: ออฟโรด IPA: ʔɔ̀ːp rôːt RTGS: oprot
There’s no ‘f’ ending sound in Thai, and consonants are always unvoiced and unreleased. If you read my Wat/Wad post, I said 'ด' as a final consonant makes a ‘t’ sound, but I really meant it’s the weird ‘dt’ sound. So lots of people pronounce his name something more like ‘awploadt.’ I kept thinking people were calling him ‘upload’ until I actually thought it through.
Feel free to send your burning questions about pronunciation/spelling, though I’m definitely not advanced enough to be confident recording myself saying anything.

heavy metal thunder
Tumblr media
Summary: Derek doesn't usually doubt his ability to get a situation under control, but tonight he's feeling just about useless as he tries to save everyone. This is right smack in the middle of 4x01 - Mayhem.
Words: 3k
Pairings: Hotch/Morgan
Warnings: explosion, canon character death (kate), vomiting (brief)
Read on AO3: heavy metal thunder
Notes: I wrote this in anticipation of taking a pinch hit in a fic exchange, however someone else was assigned the PH before me so...we got a quick fic out of it with no anonymous period. Throw it on the Mayhem pile baby! I wrote this entirely in 35 minutes of sprinting and did a quick and dirty edit.
**
Derek is no stranger to bombs. He’s worn the suit, gasped and felt sweat pooling at the base of his spine as he walks toward impending doom. Those suits weight a damn ton, and they won’t save you if you’re too close anyway. He’s walked down a street toward a device, trusting that his team has his back, that their guns are trained on everyone watching with fear or curiosity. Their eyes trained and keened in suspiciously for phones and cameras, remote detonators. He calls out how far he is from the target, he’s good at that. His voice carries. Once or twice he’s come upon someone who stares him down and threatens, who watches perplexed from a window as he disarms their hard work. He follows lead wires from where they’re immediately visible with some strange intuition most people lack, follows them with gloved hands until he finds where they end, finds the place that makes them worthwhile. He’s got a sixth sense for it, was told more than once that he was born for it. Like a bloodhound, he could sniff them out, and he was a little reckless. Just enough that he was willing to die to save others, even if he hoped he’d walk away in one piece.
So when he rushes past the barrier and yells “HOTCH!”, he’s acutely aware of the sound of his feet pounding on the pavement, he knows this silence. The silence of the scene around him as people line up outside the barriers set up to watch, catch a glimpse of the destruction, the bodies. No one is talking or shouting, everyone is watching now, watching the crazy man as he runs head first into a situation that is in all likelihood a trap. All of his skilled training goes out the window at the sight of Hotch crouched there on the street covered in blood, at the sight of his SUV reduced to a flaming metal skeleton. His feet crunch through glass and metal fragments, bits of concrete crunch and skip out of his way. The road feels hot, even this far away. That’s a feeling you never get over, the heat of it. You can’t imagine until you’re in it. As he gets closer he can hear the sizzle and pop of the leather seats and the last liquids still pouring out of the engine. He wants to get in there, to try and find the source of it, figure out what made it tick. He itches to do it, but there’s Hotch hunched over and wrecked and he’s drawn there instead. He might have been born to diffuse bombs (and maybe he’ll talk to his therapist about what that means later) but he’s here to diffuse a different sort of situation.
The smell of gasoline turns the smoke into an acrid stench that overwhelms his senses. He gags on the thickness of it and coughs, hunching over as he runs, refusing to stop and give in to his body’s desperate attempt at expelling his lunch. “HOTCH!”
Time moves so slowly, and the heat from the explosion plays tricks on his eyes. It doesn’t feel like he’s gaining any ground, he’s just running on a treadmill, getting nowhere until he skids abruptly to a stop before he steps on Kate’s hair. Her blood soaked blonde hair, sprawled and matted against the crumbled blacktop. There’s so much blood. Too much. He crouches, reaches out with desperate hands toward the ground, toward Hotch, toward anything that will have him. His fingers ache for the simplicity of a few colored wires, a switch, a little black box, some C4. There isn’t anything simple here.
“Hotch?”
It’s clear that the other man can barely hear him, is barely aware of his presence at all for a full beat. Maybe two. Like he’s operating on a delay. It’s scary, Hotch never skips a beat. He’s always right there, fully present, even when the shit is hitting the fan but he doesn’t have time to be scared, so he says Hotch’s name again a little more forcefully and that snaps him back to the plane of existence Derek is currently inhabiting. It’s something, the way his eyes flicker and catch the reflection of the flames that just won’t quit.
He listens to Hotch while he talks about moving Kate, but when he looks down at the woman beneath him he can see it – she’s not going to make it. When he locks eyes with her, it’s clear she knows it too and Hotch’s intense need to save her is breaking her heart. Derek leans down and whispers in her ear something that Hotch probably wouldn’t be able to hear, even if his hearing wasn’t shot to shit. “It’s okay,” he whispers, touching her temple, smoothing the hair back gently. He remembers rubbing Desiree’s hair like this when she was a baby, when she would cry cry cry and he was alone babysitting her so their mom could work her second job. He would stroke her hair and whisper that it was okay, that he was right there, that everything was good. “I got you.” Kate’s eyes flutter closed at that and he has to look away or he’ll cry, but his hand is still against her skin when Garcia calls him and tells him about Sam and now he’s the one who needs to be dragged back to the hell that they’re living in. This isn’t okay, Kate won’t be okay, but maybe he can still fix something. Sam is standing there mocking him, and he looks enough like a bomb to diffuse that Derek thinks he can be useful. He knows exactly which cord to cut.
“Hotch, it’s him. It’s the kid.”
He waits for Hotch’s consent to run after Sam, but he was going to do it anyway. Kate is beyond help, at least his help, and he can hear an ambulance coming closer – it should alarm him, he’ll regret it later with every damn ounce of his being, but for now he runs. He runs because he knows how to do it and he keeps repeating helping, helping, helping. This is how I help. I run, I break down doors and I catch the fucking unsub before he hurt anyone else.
He doesn’t see Hotch again until he’s destroying a small hospital room. Until he’s terrorizing the staff who are only trying to help and find themselves unlucky enough to be trying to care for his rabid honeybadger of a boyfriend. Or boss. Or...whatever the fuck they are right now. He’s not even sure right now, everything has been so weird. It didn’t really matter, not at the moment, because he’s the one in the hospital. The team are waiting for instructions, they’re all scattered. The only thing he’s done is tell Penelope to delegate out the grabbing of Hotch’s go bag, Derek already knew he’d need clothes. His were toast. Ashes and dust. A gasoline and blood soaked nightmare.
“Hotch! Hotch!” He’s starting to feel like a broken record, but this time Hotch seems to hear him. He looks at Derek like he hung the sun and the moon and the stars, with this goddamned painful look in his eye that says he knows Kate isn’t going to make it but don’t you dare ask him how he’s doing or how she’s doing because he will absolutely fucking snap and now is not the time. Derek reads all of that in an instant and he places his hand on Hotch’s chest like he’s a lion tamer sticking his hand right into the lion’s mouth. “Your go bag is on its way. I got you.”
He’s acutely aware that he says that too much. It’s overly optimistic in this situation – as near as he can tell, he doesn’t actually got anyone. He ran after Sam and Sam died, he got to Kate but he knows how that ends, and he’s looking at Hotch and thinking about acute acoustic trauma and shrapnel but he’s thinking there’s no way that’s it, that’s just all he let you look at. The look in his eye, that wild animal feral look frightens Derek – he’s had plenty of concussions in his life, and every time someone has told him he looked wild. Like he was about to snap. The lights aren’t just on, they’re a blazing fire, but no one is home. Total evacuation. That’s the adrenaline, and once that wears off he’ll be left barely conscious. Dead on his feet. They’re on short time.
“Aaron?” he chances the name while they’re alone and Hotch looks at him, the ferocity in his gaze melting into pleading. He’d powerless when Derek calls him that, it’s like closing the door on the world and it’s suddenly just them. His shoulders sag a little and he almost looks helpless. Derek wants to take the word back now.
“The profile is wrong,” he says, because work always makes sense to him. He can always find those cards even when his deck has been shuffled good. Even when he’s standing there without any real memory of how he got there or what happened. “We got something wrong.”
“I know. I know baby. The team will be here soon, we’ll figure it out. We’ll get there.” He takes a chance, calling him baby, and Hotch doesn’t flinch away or admonish him for it. That feels like a victory and he’ll let it carry him the rest of the night. He’s sure it’ll come up again later, that Hotch will regain some of his faculties and tell him to never do that again, but for now...for now he’s good with it.
He’s about to ask Hotch to sit down, just until his bag arrives, when Hotch’s knees buckle and his legs go out from under him. He just crumples in slow motion, doesn’t even try to catch himself. Derek reaches out just in time to catch him beneath the arms but instead of hauling him up he just helps him relax to the floor. “Easy,” he says, trying to gently arrange Hotch in a way that looks somewhat comfortable. All of the color has drained from his face and Derek has about 0.2 seconds to think fast and grab for the little plastic trash can before Hotch is throwing up. It’s barely more than dry heaving, it’s more tears than anything else but Derek holds one hand firm on Hotch’s shoulder and the other holds the trash can until it passes. It’s over quickly. Hotch doesn’t look any better when he finishes, but that isn’t really the point. It’s not food poisoning, it’s adrenaline and concussion and smoke inhalation and a shit storm of other things he’s only guessing at. Probably a hefty dose of vertigo and oopsie daisy he’s on the ground, sea sick on dry land. He tries not to make a big deal of it as he glances into the trash can, glad not to see a mess of blood left behind. There is a little, some bright red tendrils in the bile, but it’s not what he had imagined. It’s a tick in the positive column that had previously been empty.
“Let’s go get you cleaned up,” Derek says, sliding the can out of the way and helping Hotch slowly to his feet. He’s not putting much weight on his leg while they stand and Derek is careful to watch it while they walk slowly toward the sink. Garcia calls him while he wets paper towels and wipes blood away from tHotch’s chin. He’s just staring at the bloody mess that is Hotch’s ear when he answers, speaking before she even has a chance to start her barrage of questions.
“I’m with Hotch,” he says quietly, leaving Hotch to do the rest at the sink. He’d edged his way in there like he wanted to do it himself, leaning against the weight of it, and the last thing Derek wanted was an argument, not now. “He’s okay.”
“Define okay,” Garcia replies. He can hear the frustration in her voice at him not divulging specifics. They aren’t his specifics to divulge, and even if they were, now wasn’t the time.
“He’s standing on his own, cleaning himself up. I don’t know what else to tell you, mama.”
“Is he really okay?”
“No, I don’t think I’d say that but...he will be.”
“How is Kate?”
He hesitates there, lowers his head and closes his eyes and she reads that silence like an open book. The worst book she’s ever read. “Oh God...Derek…”
“I don’t know anything for sure right now. There’s not a lot of staff here to ask.”
“But you don’t think…”
“It’s not good.” He thinks about the look in her eye. He’s held people as they died before and she had that exact look, the way the light starts fading and they seem to realize it and all of the fear just sort of melts away. She was half gone when he told her that it was okay, that he had her. She was half gone when he touched her hair. “We gotta focus here. Hotch thinks the profile is wrong. Get the team down here, okay? Can you just do that for me?”
“Sure. Yes. Yeah. I’ll...uh...I’ll call them. Take care of him, okay?”
“Already on it.”
A nurse hands Derek Hotch’s go bag, passed off by an Agent who wasn’t allowed inside the hospital because of the bypass order. He frowns at the bag, like that should tell him something, like that’s a clue. His mind is a little foggy too. He’s distracted like it’s him that’s been blown up and smashed around. But there is something there, he’s absolutely certain.
“Here Hotch, let’s get you into some clean clothes.”
There aren’t any shoes in the bag, those are back at the hotel probably sitting on the floor beside the door, freshly shined and waiting. He brings two pairs and alternates. If he’d just oiled and shined them, he wouldn’t put them into his bag, not until they were sealed or they’d rub off on his nice clean clothes. He’s particular about how he presents himself, and it doesn’t often backfire but in this case...it’s not ideal. Derek hunts around for Hotch’s melted and filthy shoes, finding them at the nurse’s station in a trash can with his bloody clothes. He reaches in and grabs them, decides he’ll have to do his best while Hotch fumbles through dressing himself. What other choice does he have? He can’t run around in socks. (He shouldn’t be running around at all, and if this was any other member of the team no one would allow it but...it’s Hotch. No one will stop him, in fact, they’ll encourage him.)
He tries not to look, but the sounds Hotch is making...the little grunts and whimpers and sighing groans...they make Derek feel sick. He focuses on the shoes, though. Paper towel, water, soap. Scrubbing the toes, picking at chunks of metal that melted into the leather, at concrete embedded in the soles. He’s just got to make them work for the night. He just has to be able to wear them to see this through.
Hotch is dressed when Derek turns around finally, and he looks...better. Or worse. He’s not sure. From the neck down, no longer draped in a too large gown, he looks like nothing happened. His thumb works over his nails furiously, the only real outward sign of the storm going on in his head. But his face...his eyes have a tired look now, the fire is gone. He looks ready to collapse. His skin is pale, still covered in flecks of crusty blood, hair still matted with it in places. He’s got a vest lying on the bed, the last piece of his armor and Derek knows that’s going to hurt. He didn’t look when Hotch changed out of the gown and into the shirt but he’s seen enough victims of bombings to know how tender the flesh is after that kind of impact. How easily it rips and tears and burns. There will be blood that stains this shirt, too, given enough time.
“Derek,” Hotch whispers, and Derek comes to him automatically. He helps Hotch slip into his shoes, no way he was going to manage that one on his own. His body is locking up, the drug-like effects of the adrenaline wearing off gradually. He’s in pain and he can’t hide it. Down on his knees, Derek ties the shoes and thinks about the flaming SUV and the device situated beneath it meant to take his world from him. He gets angry as he makes loops of the laces, bunny ears and tunnels and fuck the world. He’s not allowed to be just angry, everyone tells him to take it easy, calm down, but if he can’t be mad now then when can he? Someone put a bomb under the seat of a vehicle being driven by someone important to him – isn’t that the time to get mad?
Derek stands once his shoes are tied and then they’re close, so close, as Derek helps him into the vest. They don’t kiss during active cases, there are rules that make this whole thing work, things they agreed to from the get go, and usually he’s more than okay with that rule but right now all he wants to do is kiss Hotch hard on the lips. “Thank you.” Hotch says it like a magic spell, like it’ll fix everything. Like it’ll fix him, it’ll fix them.
“I got you,” Derek says with a little smirk, and what he means is I’ll take care of you, what he means is I’ll never stop running to you, what he means is I love you. Derek may be an expert when it comes to bombs, but he thinks he’s not too bad at figuring Hotch out too. He’s kind of like a bomb, anyway.
That’ll have to do for now. They have an unsub to catch.

hi!! if its okay with you ofc, i would be so grateful to get a free reading bc there's a circumstance that's stressing me a lot lately.
i feel a weird smell at certain times and i'm not 100% sure if its me (which i really don't think so bc i keep myself very clean), if its just in my head or if it has something to do with bad energies around me. if you please could enlighten me abt this subject, i would be very very grateful. thank you so much in advance and hope all is well with you ❣️
Hey! Firstly, I'm curious about when, and where do you smell that? I think it'll be good to know that, since it could be something in your environment that you are not seeing and it's rotting, mold, or a health issue.
For example, a few months ago, I used to smell something at certain times while I was in my room, I used to have a garbage can there exclusively for papers. One day I threw a banana peel there and forgot to take it out so it rotted but the smell wasn't that strong and for days I wasn't sure what that was until the can got full, I took the garbage out and found that banana peel with mold. 😖
I would check for that sort of thing, mold, old stuff that could hold bad energies and smell as well, depending on what it is...However if you feel that in any place at any time, sometimes it could be a health related problem, even if you are clean. Smell hallucinations exist too, and they have different causes like infections and allergies, even brain conditions. I think it needs to be ruled out
Ok that's enough!! I'll pull some cards for you 🪷
oh! I'm not getting bad energies from the cards: The Empress, The High Priestess, The World.
Being honest, I'm not sure how to answer this question but I like the challenge, so here it goes:
High Priestess is pointing out something unknown, a mystery. Something that only you know, sense, smell. You already have the answer for this. You can sense the smell because you are connected to the unseen and this is a psychic power that you have or its rising at this time. Your intuition and psychic abilities are high, you know something is off or different, not necessarily outside of you tho. It could be something in your current subconscious realm, or something that your mind or your body is trying to communicate. The Empress is also present, there's a lot of feminine energy and power here. 🤔 I don't know your sex/gender but... The Empress and The World together is giving pregnancy 😭 and it's curious because women's senses are often stronger when they are pregnant. However that's too specific... pls come back after you read this and tell me what you think tho. Bc something with fertility could be significant. Something with your feminine side, something is going on in your body, pay attention to that. If you are a woman I'm also thinking about vaginal ph changes. On anoother note The World is completion. Maybe the cycle of something is ending, and that's the smell. The smell is foreign, you are smelling something new that's coming/arriving to your life?
3 could be a significant number.
The energies of these cards are not bad at all, they're actually good, but in the context of your question, I think I'm done here.
I'm sorry if this was messy! This was a challenging reading since I never did a reading about smells, and also English is not my native language, so I hope it was clear anyway and it helped you at least!! 💋 Again, please tell me what you think, I'm curious about this smell thing.

What is HTML? - steno vocab list
im practicing using hard copy today, and the webpage i just completed is:
i only know as much HTML and CSS as needed to customize a Neopets webpage at this point.
my goal for taking this course is to be able to redesign my Tumblr blog. the color scheme isnt where i want it to be. not high enough contrast for ppl who rly need the high contrast, and it definitely makes it awful for basically anyone, tbh. not good or accessible.
anyway, by practicing to this webpage, i think im rly hitting two balls with one bat here. or maybe im not actually taking in any of the info at all lol idk
this wont be an exhaustive list of all terms on the page (that would literally be most of the words lol). this is just what i needed to note while writing

How to choose the right water Ionizer
Choosing the right best water ionizer involves considering several factors to ensure that it meets your specific needs. Here are some key considerations to help you select the right water ionizer:
1]Water Ionization Technology: Understand the different types of water ionization technologies available. The two main types are electrolysis and electrochemical activation. Electrolysis is commonly used and divides water into alkaline and acidic streams, while electrochemical activation creates ionized water through a chemical reaction.
2] pH Range: Determine the pH range that suits your requirements. Consider whether you need a water ionizer that primarily produces alkaline water, acidic water, or both. Some ionizers offer a broader pH range, allowing for more versatility.
3] ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential): Consider the ORP levels the water ionizer can achieve. ORP measures the antioxidant properties of ionized water, with a negative ORP indicating higher antioxidant potential. Look for an ionizer that can produce a desirable negative ORP value.
4] Filtration System: Evaluate the quality of the water filtration system incorporated into the ionizer. It should effectively remove impurities, contaminants, and chlorine, while preserving beneficial minerals. Look for features like activated carbon filters, sediment filters, and multi-stage filtration for optimal water purification.
5] Flow Rate and Capacity: Consider the flow rate and capacity of the ionizer. The flow rate refers to how quickly water is processed, while capacity relates to the volume of water it can ionize before requiring a refill. Choose a model that can meet your household's water consumption needs.
6] Installation and Maintenance: Determine the installation requirements and maintenance procedures involved. Some ionizers require professional installation, while others can be easily set up by the user. Additionally, check if the ionizer requires regular cleaning or filter replacements, and consider the associated costs.
7] User-Friendly Features: Look for user-friendly features like an intuitive control panel, adjustable pH settings, and automatic cleaning functions. These features can enhance usability and convenience.
8] Brand Reputation and Reviews: Research different brands and read customer reviews to gauge the overall reputation of the water ionizer. Choose a reputable brand known for producing high-quality ionizers and providing good customer support.
9] Budget: Determine your budget range and look for water ionizers within that range. Keep in mind that higher-priced models often offer more advanced features and better build quality, but there are also affordable options available that can meet basic ionization needs.
By considering these factors, you can choose a best water ionizer in Mumbai that aligns with your preferences and requirements. It's recommended to compare multiple models, read reviews, and seek expert advice if necessary before making a final decision.

Top natural and herbal products range
History of organic skincare
In 1972 the word first organic skincare brand was born in France .to pursue the beauty with skin care is a kind of human intuition. The cosmetics industry has been developing for nearly centuries. From the ancient times to the industrial revolution, the core ingredient of cosmetics was from the nature. Therefore, people appearances and make up at that time were quite natural. The chemical synthesis industry was born out due to industrial revolution in the early 19th century, with the development in science new planting methods comes in being which opposed the natural phenomena and began transgenic technology that weakens the evolution of plants and animals. It shows its bad effect on medicine and our skin care cosmetic also. Organic skin care products undoubtedly brought the development of organic skincare to new heights standard certified system for organic skin care products with the profound knowledge and rich experience of organic products reached; this industry reaches the desired market. Missing the discussions on your readings regarding HC-NV and MM-PH. Your readings seem to be incredibly accurate. I think you have great intuition. Even though I don’t think we would be hearing what we would hope for. Do you think you will publish anytime soon. Have you been reading but in private?
Thank you so much your kind words, means a lot. I haven’t do any reading on those couple or any celebrity for a while. I don’t want to do a HC-NV reading yet because tbh they seem extremely boring and I don’t know what can I say after my business reading on him come true. I haven’t really tapped into their energy but I don’t see significant change in his life.
Now PH-MM… those two intriguing me so much, so much sh*t going on and there is this Markle-Markle lawsuit so this is all vey exciting but I cannot force myself to touch their energy. Even the thought make me anxious and unsettling. That’s why I am hesitant.
However I am here to discuss them and basically any topic if someone has a question or want to share something or want to start a conversation. :)

February General Reading
New month calls for a new reading! Here's a general reading for the month for February. There's a spill of January's juju over the first week or so of February but worry not, good things are coming your way! Keep the faith, trust in life and its many processes.
Remember, this is a general reading. Take was resonates. Leave what doesn't. You may take nothing at all.
Tumblr media
January must have been a rocky start. There is or was a struggle in finding your independence which left you in a situation that is causing a great deal of dissatisfaction and unhappiness, the Eight of Swords suggests that.
The Emperor card is telling me that there is an authority figure, possibly a father, significant other, boss or someone who exudes male energy, you're in conflict with which is not making your situation any easier. With these cards, Eight of Swords and The Emperor, show that you're feeling trapped or lost but know that there are options available to you. This bad situation you're in is temporary, I promise you. You have the power to create your own path and break down barriers that have been preventing you from living your life.
This emotional journey will lead you to abundance and self-satisfaction. There will be this new found, unapologetic energy as doors open and opportunities will come you way-- the Nine of Cups and Six of Wands confirms that. When you embrace this energy, you are harnessing your strengths and talents that will get you the recognition and respect you deserve.
In regards to the authority figure, this person can be overpowering and controlling but with this new you, have the courage to set boundaries to heal this relationship as well as protect yourself. It is also possible you've gained a better understanding of this person which can smooth things over.
You're meant to shine in life and The Star is here to remind you of that! This confidence will open a new chapter for you where you get to use your talents and strengths to conquer obstacles that come your way and revel in the gifts the universe has given you.
