These days seein' rappers be dyin', way before they even gettin' they shine
I never even heard of lil' buddy
'Til somebody murdered lil' buddy
Now I'm on the phone, searchin' lil' buddy name
Got 'em playin' his tunes, all day in my room
Thinkin', "Damn, this shit is wicked, to get they name buzzin' some niggas just gotta go lay in a tomb"
And media thirsty for clicks
I got a new rule
If you ain't never posted a rapper when he was alive
You can't post about him after he get hit
It's simple, it's the principle
On any tempo, I'm invincible
Don't even rap, I just vent to you
I rather that than an interview
Most days
Fuck 'em all like I'm goin' through a ho phase
Young nigga shoot out the whip like road rage
I pray all of my dawgs stay so paid
And the only thing that kill 'em is old age

“Experimental Song #123″
I just wrote it this morning. https://byrondeans.com/documents/experimentaltrack123.m4a.
It’s also available here, with more of my experimental rap songs: https://byrondeans.com/blog-details5.html.
The lyrics are:
Do I want to talk to mellow-looking Poles on acid
and GBL-type weirdos who want to change the world, won’t come nearo
no, it’s your bro, on the mricropho
GBL, game-based learning, who has heard of that, doesn’t sound very promising
there are some of course, but if you’re learning about the Norse
or the course, of history, as it winds to free
estimating the time that will last everything
do you want your head in a game
look on the bright side of this equation
the silence they’re enforcing, means i don’t need to make conversation
with my parents, we might as well have been in silence
where did all those years of talk get us
and people who refuse to be reasonable, terrorise us
and there’s a lot of that
the unbred generations, do all kinds of stuff
after all, that’s the whole point, it’s rough
and doesn’t make sense, just dollars and sense
allegedly the Chinese can help us
the chinese ambassador who did the tweet, can envelp us
like the moonlight scene with the gomnt juice
at least it’s funny, they’re the ones with the solushs
what to say about the industry that entertains, about the art game
about being creatave
free is how it was called in planet rock
free is the life they led, about what they talked
it might been on its way out, and very vague
if they do something systematic for you, openleigh
that would tend to equate
and if they don’t, well, that’s pretty typical, like famileigh
and if they do, well, someone their system will game
so it’s one or the other until the thing has to break
or some theories go
like an Afro
and whether it’s okay to let the hair grow
and look like that, use the word phat
dance til you’re distract
don’t live life with a pipe of crack
now I’m going to kick off from the bottom of the pool
this game of rap will take me up, listen to it in the Zul
-u nation, where they tend to be appreciating
a good rapper from those that can’t be differentiated
wrestling with this nervous. system, to keep it satiated
you bet I drank, last night, but i was working too
watching hot 100 like i sometimes do
new artists caught my eye, lil durk and morgan wallen, they’re new
I think, it certainly is the first time, I went through
some of their stuff, constructed acts, I thought, to check stuff
but they never go too far, there’s a head above
that keeps it real, the one you can feel
like jiggaman difference between the two is unreal
-ly hard to see, just a thread, or two, or three
what come down from on high comes from me
sort of, but i dont know where it comes from, you see
and if it’s rap it’s got me tres suspishee
that Im the channel, where does that take me
like the interview said, of dres early dehs
no one was getting cut, but someone was beaten every day.
a quote unquote good old fashioned version of it
was how it went, in england, three teeth were in teh man
who interviewed about the rap game
and that’s just the beginning of the reasons
why I worry, but who can be fussy
if I’m good, then I’m good, now back to the mic, in a jiffy.

Drill’s Impact on the Rap Industry
“Baby Welcome to the Party”... What a hook? I’m not sure about the rest of the world but based on the reaction from the small Rutgers Newark community I could predict the trajectory for Brooklyn artist Pop Smoke. In 2019 Welcome to the Party emerged as the hit of the summer and probably the year, allowing Pop Smoke to take the hip-hop industry by storm. By the end of 2019 Pop Smoke had already dropped his hit song Dior, exposing the world to Brooklyn Drill Scene once again but this time he grabbed the attention of major powerhouse artists such as Quavo, 50 Cent, and Travis Scott. Due to his untimely death, Pop Smoke was unable to witness the insane amount of love people had for his music and his New York style. Here a link to Welcome to the Party https://youtu.be/usu0XY4QNB0
In the Summer of 2019, there were plenty of amazing and catchy summer hits to choose from but at every frat/sorority party or regular summer cookout vibe, Welcome to the Party took the cake as the littest song of the night that everyone was waiting for. Pop’s distinctive scruffy baritone voice attracted the ladies but the Brooklyn lango and drill topics attracted the attention of the men. An online blogger site, The Cultured Nerd reviews Meet the Woo Vol.1 and the author makes a striking statement detailing Pop’s voice. He refers to Pop’s style as, “ [a] murderous junkyard-dog energy that makes his music stand out” (https://theculturednerd.org). Of course Pop was talking street shit, however it appeared as a great party anthem notorious for causing excitement in the crowd. After Genius posted a youtube video featuring Pop Smoke describing his lyrics, one particular clip of the interview went viral on social media, drawing more attention to the single Welcome to the Party.
Drill music emerged as a subgenre in hip-hop that started in the early 2010’s in Chicago. Artists like Chief Keef, Lil Bibby, Lil Reese, Lil Durk, and most notably King Louie introduced the world to their sound, however messages about gang activity and gang violence caused the genre to be silenced by record labels and police authorities. At the time drill music came to prominence Chicago had been named the murder capital in the US, hence it only makes sense as to why drill music was always going to inherently contain themes of gun violence and drugs. When the scene was phased out in Chicago, drill music found a new home in the UK amongst rappers living in the Brixton community. Rap groups: 67, Harlem Spartans, and Skengdo & Am made drill music the face of the UK rap scene after 2016. The genre was then reintroduced to mainstream Hip-Hop in the US when producer 808melo collaborated with Pop Smoke to create Welcome to the Party. When drill music reached New York it revitalized the sound of east coast rappers and there were plenty of hungry artists eager to stake claim over the genre. Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G, 22gz, and Sleepy Hollow were of the New York rappers who gained popularity talking about gang culture in New York but also putting on for Brooklyn and the Bronx. Ever so often we get major stars emerging from New York, but these artists were apart of a larger movement and it's still too early in their history to codify specific impacts their movement has made on the industry. The forerunners Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign drew attention to New York with their songs Welcome to the Party and Fivio’s Big Drip, another big hit for 2019. Here’s a Chicago Drill classic that gives some context to what themes recurring in Drill Music.
youtube
After the release of Dior, another single released from his debut mixtape Meet the Woo, Pop gained attention from 50 Cent. The song PTSD poses a strong resemblance to the voice of 50 Cent, which consequently led the pair to meeting. As mentioned earlier Quavo and Travis Scott collaborated with Pop to produce his second mixtape Meet the Woo 2.A Pitchfork review of Meet the Woo 2 by Reed Jackson writes, “but Pop’s lyrics aren’t built for close inspection; they work best hurling out of a big speaker system”. Jackson is accurate when he describes how Pop Smokes charisma and illustrious status compensates for his simple and lackluster lyrics. As a 20 year old emerging rapper, Pop's lyrics weren’t the greatest, however his ability to shake a crowd was more important.
After Pop’s tragic murder rapper 50 Cent took the initiative to get all Pop’s unfinished music cleared so they could create Pop’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon. All three powerhouses saw tremendous talent in Pop and wanted to spread his legacy globally. Of course Shoot for the Moon, Aim for the Stars included several different music styles including drill, however the drill sound didn’t dominate the sound of the album, it was simply the phenomenon that stratified New York rappers and drill rappers into mainstream hip-hop. Pop smoke represented Canarsie, Brooklyn and New York until his passing. The culture of New York and drill music was reintroduced into the Hip-Hip scene because of Pop Smoke and 808melo’s vision. The success of Shoot for the Starz, Aim for the moon was widely celebrated in commerated not only in Canarsie and Brooklyn but around the world.

Tea's Music Reviews #004
Artist: Lil Durk
Album: 7220 (Deluxe) (2022) [link]
I discovered Lil Durk through features on NAV's and Gunna's albums. My first listening experience was Just Cause Yall Waited 2. Before 7220 came out I had already become a fan through the singles he was releasing prior to this drop.
I've been wanting to review this album for awhile because it holds a special place in my heart. Lil Durk is someone that knows how to pull on my heart strings. I relate heavily to the things he writes about.
Back when the 1st and 2nd versions, 7220 and 7220 (Reloaded), respectively, released in March, I was going through one of the roughest periods of my life. This album held me down when everyone around me turned their backs.
From betrayal and addiction to deep self reflection on life and issues in close relationships, this album really hits home for me. Whenever I'm feeling a way, I turn this album up as loud as my ears can handle and bask in the cathartic overtones accompanied by a cornucopia of tightly wound instrumentals.
The day I sat down to review this album, I discovered he had released the Deluxe version 4 months after the original drops. With 13 extra songs, I really took my time to marinate with it, so here's my official take:
Durk is unmatched in my opinion. His signature flow, while somewhat repetitive, is addicting. You can really hear the experiential pain in his lyrics, but he still keeps the energy high in every song. Something I feel isn't easy to do, nor something I hear done well enough to be commendable. Durk's lyricism feels like reaching into a bag of jellybeans and getting your favorite flavor everytime. Truly something to behold the way he weaves his words together.
Smurkio exhibits a deep sense of self that I feel is often missing in modern trap music. The mixing could've been a bit better, but given how much content he put out this year, I'm definitely not complaining. Durk is one of my favorite artists hands down. This album has been on repeat ever since it released.
This isnt a no skip album for me though. Some of the features just don't fit and I could've done without the little country flavor added towards the end. Regardless, this is his best work in my opinion and I'm hype for his next album.
Notable songs: So What, Risky, Computer Murderers, Shootout @ My Crib, No Interviews, What Happened to Virgil (feat. Gunna), Smoking & Thinking, Pissed Me Off
Overall rating: 9/10

Quando Rondo Gets $1 Million From NBA Youngboy
NBA Youngboy gives Quando Rondo $1 million! NBA Youngboy is fresh off a win in his gun case. This gift apparently cheered Quando Rondo up as he is in the middle of a breakup with his girlfriend. I guess he isn’t thinking about her as of right now. Never Broke Again Takes Chicago Quando Rondo is on NBA Youngboy’s record label, Never Broke Again. Quando Rondo is also associated with Atlantic Records since Never Broke Again is under Atlantic. NBA Youngboy is going on tour and will be stopping in Chicago. His manager, Alex Junnier, confirmed the Windy City will in fact be the first stop. We all know this will be something to watch out for as Youngboy and Chicago’s own Lil Durk have an ongoing beef. Quando Rondo was allegedly involved with the murder of King Von, Lil Durk artist. A fight broke out involving Von’s crew and Quando Rondo’s crew. This led to King Von being shot and killed. Rondo’s friend and fellow rapper, Lul Tim, is being charged with the murder. https://twitter.com/saycheesedgtl/status/1549205873909719041?s=21&t=8YJ3NDPy647AtGeTEM24rw Rondo vs. Durk Lul Tim’s side supports him throughout all this, especially Quando Rondo. This energy led Lil Durk to make the diss track “AHHH HA”. Lil Durk threw shots at NBA Youngboy, Rondo, and associates in the song. At this time, Lil Durk claimed the song to be #1 on YouTube, but that wasn’t the case. Apparently, fans had to inform him that NBA Youngboy’s song, “I Hate YoungBoy” was actually the #1 song on YouTube. Then, Quando Rondo took the time to chime in with fans to let Durk know too. He posted on Instagram a screenshot of how many views “I Hate YoungBoy” received with the caption “Naw fucc n**** this real numbers”. It’s hard to beat out NBA Youngboy on YouTube as he has been the most viewed artist on there for the past few years. After releasing “I Hate YoungBoy”, in only 5 hours, it racked up 2 million times. Last year, in an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, Quando Rondo claims rappers don’t like him and NBA Youngboy. To explain, Rondo says it’s because they keep to themselves. He claims people don’t like that they don’t move with the industry politics. Apparently, Quando Rondo, NBA Youngboy, and crew are on a different type of time. Crypto TREND - Second Edition
In the first edition of CRYPTO TREND we introduced Crypto Currency (CC) and answered several questions about this new market space. There is a lot of NEWS in this market every day. Here are some highlights that give us a glimpse of how new and exciting this market space is:
World's largest futures exchange to create a futures contract for Bitcoin
Terry Duffy, president of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) said "I think sometime in the second week in December you'll see our [bitcoin futures] contract out for listing. Today you cannot short bitcoin, so there's only one way it can go. You either buy it or sell it to somebody else. So you create a two-sided market, I think it's always much more efficient."
CME intends to launch Bitcoin futures by the end of the year pending regulatory review. If successful, this will give investors a viable way to go "long" or "short" on Bitcoin. Some sellers of Exchange-Traded Funds have also filed for bitcoin ETF's that track bitcoin futures.
These developments have the potential to allow people to invest in the crypto currency space without owning CC's outright, or using the services of a CC exchange. Bitcoin futures could make the digital asset more useful by allowing users and intermediaries to hedge their foreign-exchange risks. That could increase the cryptocurrency's adoption by merchants who want to accept bitcoin payments but are wary of its volatile value. Institutional investors are also used to trading regulated futures, which aren't plagued by money-laundering worries. More here lil durk
CME's move also suggests that bitcoin has become too big to ignore, since the exchange seemed to rule out crypto futures in the recent past. Bitcoin is just about all anyone is talking about at brokerages and trading firms, which have suffered amid rising but unusually placid markets. If futures at an exchange took off, it would be nearly impossible for any other exchange, like CME, to catch up, since scale and liquidity is important in derivatives markets.
"You can't ignore the fact that this is becoming more and more of a story that won't go away," said Duffy in an interview with CNBC. There are "mainstream companies" that want access to bitcoin and there's "huge pent-up demand" from clients, he said. Duffy also thinks bringing institutional traders into the market could make bitcoin less volatile.
Japanese village to use crypto currency to raise capital for municipal revitalization
The Japanese village of Nishiawakura is researching the idea of holding an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) to raise capital for municipal revitalization. This is a very novel approach, and they may ask for national government support or seek private investment. Several ICO's have had serious problems, and many investors are sceptical that any new token will have value, especially if the ICO turns out to be a another joke or scam. Bitcoin certainly was no joke.
INITIAL COIN OFFERING - ( ICO )
We did not mention ICO in the first edition of Crypto Trend, so let's mention it now. Unlike an Initial Public Offering (IPO), where a company has an actual product or service for sale and wants you to buy shares in their company, an ICO can be held by anyone who wants to initiate a new Blockchain project with the intention of creating a new token on their chain. ICO's are unregulated and several have been total shams. A legitimate ICO can however raise a lot of cash to fund a new Blockchain project and network. It is typical for an ICO to generate a high token price near the start and then sink back to reality soon after. Because an ICO is relatively easy to hold if you know the technology and have a few bucks, there have been many, and today we have about 800 tokens in play. All these tokens have a name, they are all crypto currency, and except for the very well known tokens, like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, they are dubbed alt-coins. At this time Crypto Trend does not recommend participating in an ICO, as the risks are extremely high.
As we said in Issue 1, this market is the "wild west" right now, and we are recommending caution. Some investors and early adopters have made large profits in this market space; however, there are many who have lost a lot, or all. Governments are considering regulations, as they want to know about every transaction in order to tax them all. They all have huge debt and are strapped for cash.
So far, the crypto currency market has avoided many government and conventional bank financial problems and pitfalls, and Blockchain technology has the potential to solve many more problems.
