Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #21
May 31-June 7 2024
As part of President Biden's goal to bring the number of traffic deaths to zero, the Department of Transportation has sent $480 million in safety grants to all 50 states, DC, and all the US territories. The grants will focus on trucks, buses and other large vehicles. Thanks to DoT safety actions deaths involving heavy vehicles dropped by 8% from 2022 to 2023 and the department wants to keep pushing till the number is 0.
The Departments of Interior and Agriculture announced $2.8 billion plan to protect public land and support local government Conservation Efforts. $1.9 billion will be used to repair and restore national parks and public land, restoring historic sites, as well as Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools. $900 million will go to conservation funding, allowing the government to buy land to protect it. Half the funds will go to the federal government half to state and local governments and for the first time ever a tribal Conservation Land Acquisition program has been set up to allow tribal governments to buy land to protect nature.
The Department of Transportation announced that it had managed to get customers nearly $1 Billion dollars worth of flight reimbursements. The DoT reached an agreement with 3 airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, and South African Airways to pay between them $900 million to passengers effected by Covid related cancellations and delays. This adds to the $4 billion dollars of refunds and reimbursements to airline passengers under the Biden Administration.
The Department of Interior announced $725 million to clean up legacy coal pollution. This is the 3rd pay out from the $11.3 billion dollars President Biden signed into law in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to clean up coal pollution and invest in communities that used to rely on the coal industry. The money will be spent across 22 states and the Navajo Nation. Closing dangerous mine shafts, reclaim unstable slopes, improve water quality by treating acid mine drainage, and restore water supplies damaged by mining.
HUD launches the first of its kind investment program in manufactured homes. Manufactured homes represent a major market for affordable housing and the Biden Administration is the first to offer support to people trying to buy. HUD hopes the program will help 5,000 families and individuals buy their own home over the next 5 years.
The Department of the Interior announced $700 million for long-term water conservation projects across the Lower Colorado River Basin. The Colorado River Basin provides water for more than 40 million people, electric power to 7 US States and is a critical crucial resource for 30 Tribal nations and two Mexican states. The project hopes to save more than 700,000 acre-feet of water in Lake Mead. In the face of climate change causing a historic 23-year drought, there is record low water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The Biden Administration has moved aggressively to try to protect the Colorado River and make sure there's enough water in the West.
HUD makes $123 million for fighting Youth Homelessness available. This represents the 8th round of investment in Youth Homelessness since 2021 for a total of $440 million so far. The Biden Administration is focusing on innovative answers, like host homes, and kinship care models, with emphasis on creating equitable strategies to assist youth who are most vulnerable, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and youth with disabilities. This is part of the Biden Administration goal of cutting homelessness by 25% by the end of 2025
The Department of Agriculture announced a series of actions to strength Tribal food sovereignty. The USDA will grant tribes in Maine, Alaska, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington $42 million through the Indigenous Animals Harvesting and Meat Processing Grants to support native animal harvesting. $18 million for projects under the Tribal Forest Protection Act. As well as $2.3 million to support the service of Indigenous foods in school meal programs. The USDA also plans its first ever class of interns specifically focused on Tribal agriculture and food sovereignty. The USDA also plans to host a first ever international trade mission focused on Tribal Nation and Native Hawaiian Community businesses.
Bonus: President Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Secretaries of Defense Lloyd Austin and State Antony Blinken traveled to Normandy France to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. They were joined by a handful of surviving veterans of the landings many over 100 years old.

now that i finally got around to reading 166,,,,,
WHAT THE FUCK AKASAKA???? this feels so callous? especially those last few pages??? between ruby essentially going 'im not coping teehee' and honestly sounding almost dismissive over losing both her mother and brother (yknow,,,, two of the most important people in her life???) i just,,, wow
i liked the little snippets we got to see of everyone else, even if it was rushed, but ruby? ruby, i am so sorry that your story got done like that. and ofc,,,, the absolute non-mention of Ai? Our titular Oshi??? What the fuck Aksaka???? I love OnK, but somewhere along the line (*coughs* the Movie Arc *coughs*) we kind of lost the heart of the story,,,
It really is so funny how you can almost Feel us starting to tilt off the rails as soon as 123 hit lol. Like, I hate saying it like that because it sounds like I'm scapegoating the AquRuby stuff and it just makes it way too easy for overinvested shippers to dismiss what you're saying, but a lot of what makes this ending so abysmal really can be traced back to that chapter in particular. Ruby's trauma gets flipped off like a switch and her characterization is replaced by her just wanting to ride her brother's baloney pony with absolutely no time or page space given to how she might process or react to this sudden upheaval in their relationship. Those really feel like the first warning signs for the things that are going to drive the Movie Arc into the ground - overly convenient resolutions to conflict, a lack of character interiority and compromising the integrity of what should be the story's most pivotal and interesting relationship for lowbrow incest pandering that goes nowhere but gets a lot of clicks and engagement online.
And it's not even good incest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All my relatives: Exploring Lakota ontology, belief, and ritual. Posthumus DC (2022)
This is a book all about Lakota traditional beliefs and therefore has a lot of information connected to Mitakuye Oyasin. “At the heart of both Lakota religious continuity and innovation is an underlying animist ontological orientation, a basic way of seeing, understanding, and being in the world that extends personhood— in the form of a soul or spirit— to nonhuman life- forms.” This is expressed with ‘Mitakuye Oyasin’ –meaning ‘all my relatives’ or ‘we are all related’, which refers not only to human kinship but also to the relationship shared by all life-forms, both human and nonhuman, and the reciprocal obligations, responsibilities, and mutual respect that naturally extend from it” (14).
This repeats much of the ideas from similar definitions: belief in the connection between all life, relationships, the power the phrase has. It also gives a lot of words to help define these beliefs in academic language. Another important thing to point out is the way mitakuye oyasin is recognized as being part of Lakota innovation; my goal here is to use mitakuye oyasin to an innovation of queer ecology–hopefully add to the conversation.
“The normative cultural values encompassed by mitákuye oyásʾį are the very foundation of kinship, relational ontology, and the overarching interspecies collective, of which humans are only one hoop, one oyáte ‘people, nation, tribe’, in the company of many others. The key constituents of this animist ontology and worldview, of mitákuye oyásʾį, are persons, a category that extends beyond human beings to nonhuman or other- than- human persons. [...] Importantly, the Lakota worldview sees humans as the least knowledgeable and powerful beings, requiring the most aid and pity, upending the common Western biblical assumption that humans have dominion to rule over all other life- forms and subdue the earth (see V. Deloria 1999, 50; 2009, 99– 100). For the Lakotas, the seed of all life is wakʿą ‘sacrality, mystery, divinity’; ́ hence all life- forms share a generalized interiority, whether human or nonhuman.”
This is important information to support my argument. Queer ecology is very critical of Western beliefs and dichotomies that separate humans from nature and thereby present mankind as the ultimate lifeform (anthropocentrism). There are many essays and articles that examine the influence Christianity has had on the colonialist project (Gaard is the first that comes to mind). The Lakota worldview of being the ‘younger siblings’ of creation are supported by science in that ‘humans’ as a 'species' haven’t existed all that long in comparison to other 'species' and like many indigenous cultures, Lakota people knew the key to knowing nature was to learn from the world around us, as the author later confirms:
“Deloria explains that “the oldest traditions say that humans learned politeness and courtesy from the animals. . . . Generations of elders had already observed the behavior of birds . . . and decided that emulating them was the proper way for humans to act” (V. Deloria 2009, 123). Standing Bear (2006a, 56) substantiates this, writing, “The Lakota enjoyed his association with the animal world. For centuries he derived nothing but good from animal creatures. From them were learned lessons in industry, fidelity, and many virtues and much knowledge.” (50-51)
In the author’s footnotes is Vine Deloria’s examination of mitakuye oyasin that is, I feel, a great support of my claim:
“Vine Deloria refers to mitákuye oyásʾį as the ‘Indian principle of interpretation/observation,’ calling it “a practical methodological tool for investigating the natural world and drawing conclusions about it that can serve as guides for understanding nature and living comfortably within it. . . . We observe the natural world by looking for relationships between various things in it. . . . This concept is simply the relativity concept as applied to a universe that people experience as alive and not as dead or inert” (1999, 34). (Posthumus 2022 p219 f)
Queer ecology’s goal in many ways is to critique the ways the Western scientific paradigm has created inequity. Many are seemingly searching for solutions and answers to the problems that have been perpetuated by the colonial empire, supported as it is by western science.
While we must always, always be careful of appropriation and misappropriation–I contend that the solutions are not ones that need to be ‘discovered’ or solved in the way that Western science is so often searching for–advancement, the future…but rather, the answers are in what has always been there…and it’s simply a matter of observation.

The wretched document woah!
This is long btw so yeah...
Z-316 - Codename: "The Wretched" was an early prototype of the B.U.P.W.M program. With the many experiments being conducted on it, it had become horribly disfigured, with skin parting and eyes growing on the exterior, horribly mutilating the shark. The eyes and most of the rest of the interior, unlike Z-317, the successful experiment, had became a glowing neon purple, the pupils becoming the shape of a sparkle, or an upright X. With other side effects being places in the skin parting without eyes, sharp black points emerging from the skin like an infection, this is theorised to be connected to the rotten coral used in the eyes. The muscle, flesh, and tissue connecting the lower body and the tail together has been severely thinned, making it unable to swim, strangely, it appears even though it still has large gills, it is able to survive on land, Being able to shuffle around with its large fins. Instead of it being neutralised like any other failed experiment, we have decided to keep it in containment for further research, another bull shark that shares the same genes had been put to use instead. Thus becoming Z-317 - eyefestation. The wretched, along with being able to survive on land, had seemed to pick up how to somewhat communicate, listening to agents talking. Z-316 appears to understand it's appearance is utterly disgusting, with when any agent looks in it's line of sight, it will cover it's 'face', it will 'cry' and whisper things such reported as "please...don't look at me" and "please help", it is currently unknown how it has learned these things. The extent of viewing is unknown, with it acting similarly to J-123, it is able to know when it is being watched even when it is through CCTV. When Z-316s containment is opened agents were advised to constantly be looking at it if personnel weren't present on the CCTV, with Z-316 becoming no longer ashamed of it's appearance and becoming very hostile, being able to very quickly using its flippers to crawl toward the nearest human, making a loud slapping sound against the hard floor. Usually ending up in the agent being torn apart and eaten in a matter of seconds. When Z-317s experiment was completed, having thought to come from the same immediate family, was presented to each other in a safely contained way, with a camera being secretly set up Z-316 didn't seem to realise with it's curiosity being set on Z-317, although, strangely enough, Z-316 didn't cover it's eyes in shame, and Z-317 didn't try to radiate Z-316 to death. They appeared to have a level of understanding. 5 hours and 56 minutes into the lockdown, Z-13 opened its cell somewhat accompanied by Z-317. With Z-316, crawling and devouring personnel, it is thought that it is doing this out of pure rage, wanting revenge for its horrible disfigurement, this is also to be exterminated once the lockdown is dealt with.
It is noted that, like when it was in experimentation, it should be constantly looked at while traversing the room, with if being looked away from, will no longer be ashamed and will grow violent, it will quickly crawl toward an operative going to rip apart and eat them. If the room is exited the wretched will see this as a way to escape, no longer being enraged, it will crawl away into a nearby ventilation system. Acting strangely like Z-V06, with some of the appearance being relatively similar also. V-316, like it's cousin, is unable of sympathy, with it hunting down any personnel it can find, no matter the role.
If these documents are shown to unauthorized personnel, you'll be put up for demotion, any cover-up fees will be sent to your relatives.

She shouldn’t be surprised the place Rooster came with his mother was a small mom and pop shop hidden in her middle of the city. She loved how cozy it looked even from the outside, with the dark colors and the wooden beams - one of them had a little bear engraved on it, almost as if it was climbing up to the roof. Beatrice walked close to Rooster while she held Nicole to her chest, covering their daughter with part of her open jacket even if Nikki was bundled up as warm as possible.
She was having fun just by hanging close to her mother, her cheeks rosy red and eyes squinted because of the cold weather, but she was just happy to be around. “Thanks,Roos.” Beatrice whispers when her husband keeps the door open for her, smirking and winking in her direction as she walked past him towards the warm interior. The bell jingled as the door closed with Rooster shrugging off his jacket and telling her to hand Nicole over so he could remove hers.
“This is a lovely place.” she says, looking up at the ceiling and placing the coat on the hanger by the door, “It’s so…familiar.”
“It does remind a little bit of the cabin, huh?”
It did, albeit it was smaller than the cabin was, very warm and it smelled great. Beatrice couldn’t help but grin at the several pictures on the walls: a beautiful gradient from black and white to color, showing the generation of owners that passed through this establishment, “It does.” she turns to Rooster, stretching her arms to pick Nicole, “Where are we going to sit?”
He looks around for a few seconds, then does a double take at the corner, smirking, “There.” he speed walks towards it, but he’s not so fast that Beatrice can’t keep up with him, in fact he’s holding out his hand for her to take it and the three of them could get to the booth that faced the large windows. Beatrice couldn’t help the smile on her face, it reminded her of their very first date - at Trooper’s - a few years back. “You can sit down,I’ll get Nikki’s booster seat.”
“Okay.” she says once she settles, her husband leaving her alone to talk to the lady on the counter. She watches as the woman’s face widens in recognition, her hands coming up to cup her cheeks in surprise before she walks around the counter to give Bradley a hug. She hears the lady calling a male name and an elder gentleman walks out from a little room with the word ‘Office’ above the walls.
Both of them hug Rooster, then spend a few minutes talking to him. She,however, stills a bit - like a deer in the headlights - when Rooster gestures towards her and Nikki. His mouth forms the words ‘my wife’ and he grins, brightly, like the sun when he says so, his cheeks flushing ever so slightly.
Another round of surprised gasps and congratulatory comments were thrown his way, even if she couldn’t get all of it. He leans closer to the couple, once again pointing to his girls on the booth and the man nods with a face that clearly says ‘as if there was any doubt!’ before he walks away.
The lady pats Rooster’s shoulder and then turns him around, shushing him back to their seat. He comes back laughing like a little boy, his cheeks still flushed, “They are going to bring a booster seat,” he says, not sitting down in front of Beatrice and propping his hands on her hips, creating a Rooster shaped shield from anyone who walked into the restaurant, “And the menus.”
“They didn’t have to! We could’ve got it from the car.”
“Yeah,I tried telling them but they said with the snow they didn’t want neither of us walking outside.”
Beatrice smiled softly “They seem to know you.”
“Hah, yeah, they are the same people from when I was a kid.” he says, ‘They were…really happy to see me and even happier when I told them I got married.”
“They appeared as such.” she says, “You looked so flushed it was adorable.”
He pursed his lips with a shy little ‘hm’ escaping his throat, almost as if he wanted to laugh but couldn’t yet, like a little boy who was just told how handsome he was. That boyish charm that made her knees weak only made her feel like flying, “Yeah, well.” he digs his hands in his pockets, smiling more when the male owner walks out of the room with a booster seat - brand new too - already speeding up to meet them mid way.
Introductions were made, this man’s name was Jim and his wife’s name was Cheryl, they owned this place ever since Rooster was ‘smaller than the palm of his hand’ mentioning that Carole and Nick used to come here when they were dating. Beatrice thought it was so sweet how they remembered them and how this spot became a beacon for Goose and Carole’s relationship and, of course, Rooster’s childhood.
The man was so kind to them, he was curious about Beatrice because ‘her accent was not from ‘round there’ and she told him she was from San Diego. The look he gave Rooster, followed by the subtle jab on the pilot’s ribs - and the not so subtle wink- made her blink in confusion. And then he turned to Nicole, who immediately grinned at him, ‘ha!’ she was starting to connect sounds to words, it was adorable seeing her trying to speak the best way that she could.
After Rooster set the booster seat down and Beatrice placed Nicole in it, her husband finally sat in front of her with a gentle sigh. He kept his eyes on his watch for a second, pressing the button on the sides to light up the visor, “We are just in time for lunch, nice, and we- what?” she was grinning at him, making him laugh confusedly, “What?”
“What was that about?”
“What was what about?”
“When he asked about where I was from,” she said, “He looked at you funny and he elbowed your rib as if he knew something I didn’t…soo, what do I not know about you?”
Rooster looked shocked, and amused, at the same time, only sputtering a quiet laugh before he crossed his arms, leaning back against the seat, ‘It was just a joke my mom liked to toss about.” she arched her brows waiting for him to continue, “...she used to say that my girl was going to be as warm as the sun from San Diego.” he smirks, folding his arms over the table so he could lean a bit closer to her.
Her cheeks immediately reddened and her lower lip slipped between her teeth as she chewed the soft flesh when his voice went down an octave, a deep purr that sent shivers down her body, “...really?”
“I could also say that the girl I was going to be with is also as hot as San Diego.” he smirks, “Because, well, you are aren’t you?”
“Roos.”
“And you know, I thought about it for a long time but then it escaped my mind…in fact I was only reminded of this now, when he mentioned it.” he says softly, “You are pretty much like that, Bea. Warm and beautiful…and you look amazing in a bikini.” she blushes harder, covering her face with her hands as Rooster returns to his previous relaxed position, smirking at his wife’s adorable embarrassment.
When Cheryl comes over with the menus, she gives the two a sweet look, almost proud of what she was seeing then walks back, “...well,” Beatrice clears her throat, checking what they could order while Nicole busied herself with the teething ring they brought along, “What…what should we order?”
“Hmmmm…” he taps his chin, holding the laminated paper up with his eyes narrowing just enough, “They have a great bbq here, so I might get that.”
“Oh, I think I’ll get it too then.”
“You sure?” he asks, “It’s a lot of food, gorgeous.”
Beatrice blinks, then looks down at the menu again, “W-Well, I…I want to try…we can take some back if I can’t handle it,right?”
“Of course.” he smirks, setting the menus aside as they waited, “And we can get some apple puree for Nikki…ooohh and some apple pie later. I’d love some apple pie.”
“You sure it’ll fit?’
“Oh I’ll make it fit.” he smiles, winking at her, “Why do you think I didn’t have breakfast?”
That’s true, he only had black coffee that morning…maybe she should’ve skipped as well. Beatrice, however, smiles at his expression…he’s relaxed, he’s so happy and it was like he went back ten years with how bright his expression is.He always mentioned that he wouldn’t live in Virginia again, but it was hard to ignore how elated he always looked whenever they came over to visit.
After ordering their food, and Nikki’s, Beatrice tried to not appear too shocked when that huge tray appeared in front of them. She widened her eyes, there were ribs, mac ‘n cheese, cornbread and so many other things that Beatrice didn’t even know what it was anymore, only that it smelled so good, “...o-oh wow.”
“I told you it was a lot.” he says, already licking his thumb and forefinger once he grabbed the ribs - shaking it and making the meat fall off the bone- ‘You don’t have to eat it all.”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to.” she laughs nervously, choosing to open Nicole’s plastic cup where the apple puree was, their daughter clearly interested since she stopped chewing her teething ring to pay attention on what her mother was doing, little mouth parted open in wonder as the thin film that kept the cup closed was peeled off and Beatrice crumpled it into a ball, “Are you sure you can eat it all?”
“Hell yeah,I didn’t had this in years.” he smirks, taking a bite of everything and smiling with his eyes closed, almost as if he stepped into paradise the second those flavors invaded his mouth, “Fuck this is so good.”
Nicole giggles at her father’s antics, but opens her mouth to receive the apple puree at the same time, her mother just smiles at the scene and keeps her eyes on both of her favorite people in this whole wide world. Rooster is having a blast, Nicole is clearly enjoying herself but there’s more than that…it’s the fact that they were all here, in Virginia, in a place that was literally part of Rooster’s story and his parents as well.
She didn’t know why she was emotional.
Well, she did know why, it was also because of the twins but…it was so special. She hadn’t met Carole nor Goose, but she felt that Rooster was making her meet them through his eyes and…it was so sweet the way he was doing it. The first time they came they spent only a short weekend there, now they had a whole week and she couldn’t help but wonder what else he had in store for them.
Bradley looks up from his food towards her, “Baby,” his face turns serious immediately, “What’s the matter?”
“Huh?”
“You are tearing up.”
“Oh,” she quickly wipes her eyes and sniffles, laughing nervously, “Sorry, the hormones are getting to me.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah,” she smiles after wiping Nicole’s lips with the adorable bib they gave to them - it had a tiny black bear on it - “I’m just happy to see you happy.”
Rooster’s mouth slowly turned into a smile, his cheeks darkening slightly - a hue of reddish orange on those high cheekbones of his - and his eyes shining even more, not with tears but just…pure bliss.
“I’m just happy we are here.” she whispers, “I…I had no idea that you had a whole past with this place, Roos…it’s really nice,it really is.And the fact we are here as well, with Nikki…it’s special,it really is.” and she didn’t want to elaborate on that because she was already emotional, she didn’t need to cry more, ‘I just feel…honored? I guess that’s the word, that you brought us here.”
Bradley chews his food for a while longer, then smirks at her, holding his face on his closed fist, ‘There’s nothing like that. Baby, you are my girl.” another blush, darker this time, “And Nikki is our baby girl, I want you to enjoy a few things I did too. And if I’m able, then I’ll bring you along.”
“Well, it’s still special.”
“It is because you are here.” he adds softly, “Of course I have memories with my mom and very few with my dad…but when I bring you two- well four - along it’s because I think it’s time we…make our own memories.”
Her eyes brimmed with tears, “Roos…that’s so cute.”
“I’m just bein’ honest. What I want this week is for us to have the best time of our lives, with Nikki and the dogs…and us of course. It’ll be an amazing New Year because we’ll be together for the…second time to enjoy it? Not being deployed helps a lot.”
Beatrice’s smile gets soft again and she tucks a few hairs behind her ear, “...you think you’ll get deployed when we get back, don’t you?”
“It’s very possible.” he mutters, “I hope it’s not too long, I’d want to see the twins but…I don’t know.”
A hard silence takes over after he says that, Beatrice knows that he didn’t want to think more about it, so she cuts the convo to something else, “Are there any other places you’d like ot tell me?” she finally takes a bite of her own tray, widening her eyes and covering her mouth with a hand, ‘...oh wow this is so good,Roos.”
“Ain’t it? I thought you’d like it.” he is so proud when he says that, tapping the back of his fork against his plate and thinking about it, holding his head up still, “...there are some, I really want you to see my old school, my old high school.”
“Why? You mentioned it before.”
He pauses, the constant tapping of the fork against his plate adding to the now comforting quietness that surrounded them - the gentle voice of Etta James echoed on the speakers around the restaurant - “I can’t say my high school life was good. It was doable, it was good to handle, but I really liked the structure itself. We had a lot of trees. A lot of them, there was one right before the gymnasium, it was huge and you could climb on it and hide there during lunch if you wanted.”
“Did you and your friends do that?”
“Sometimes. My coach was always very vocal about me training. He used to say I had chicken legs and- don’t you start.” she is trying to cover her laughter, proceeding to do so by chewing some cornbread and offering him a shrug, “...and that I had to fatten them up. Which was a lie, my legs were fine back then, not so different from now. Plus I was really good, he knew I could skip a few days…” he pauses and a horrified look appears on his face, “Oh God I think he had a crush on my mom.”
“What?”
‘Oh no,oh God that’s–that explains so much.” he groans, rubbing his eyes with his fingertips then inhaling deeply once he placed his palms against his face, “Ew, eugh, fuck…anyway, let’s focus back on what we should think about and not the sudden traumatizing memory that resurfaced, please.” he drops his hands to the table, holding out his fingers, “There’s also…the bar I used to go during college, uhhh, the park where I’d go with my dog - we can take the dogs and Nikki there if it’s not too cold.”
Beatrice smiles, a lot because of his previous reaction but mainly because of his suggestions, “Yeah,we can do that, no worries.” as long as they had a good time, there was nothing wrong with that “Oh!Can I see UVA?”
“You want to?”
“Yeah,I’ve only seen pictures online and I saw your graduation pic,” he looked so handsome, his mustache was already as thick then but longer and so was his hair, he looked like a surfer guy from the 70’s, “And it was so nice…please?”
His eyes softened, “When you ask like that, how can I say no?”
“Aaa!”
“And so does Nikki,” Beatrice smiles at their daughter who’s just slapping her little hands on the seat, there’s apple puree all over her face even if Beatrice cleaned her seconds before, “She wants to see where daddy got his education.” Nicole babbles more, as if agreeing and Beatrice just laughs at their daughter’s antics, “I just want to know more about you.”
“Well, you do know about me.”
“Yes,but there’s some stuff I only found out now…like how everyone thought you’d end up with a California girl.” she blushes with a sweet grin, one that makes his own heart jump in his chest, “I need to know all your secrets.”
“It’s not a secret, I just forgot.”
“Same thing.”
He huffs a laugh, then clicks his tongue, “Alright, alright…but only,’ he points his fork at her, “Because you are cute and I’m head over heels for you.”

Salisbury Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England. The cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Salisbury and is the seat of the Bishop of Salisbury.
The building is regarded as one of the leading examples of Early English Gothic architecture. Its main body was completed in 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.
The spire was built in 1320. It was heightened to 404 feet (123 m) and has been the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom since 1561. Visitors can take the “Tower Tour”, in which the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wooden scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain at 80 acres (32 ha). It contains a clock which is among the oldest working examples in the world, and has one of the four surviving original copies of Magna Carta. In 2008, the cathedral celebrated the 750th anniversary of its consecration.

Recent volcanism on Moon
Extensive geologic evidence of ancient volcanic activity can be found on the Moon, but how long this volcanism persisted has been unclear. However, Prof. LI Qiuli’s Lab at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS) has recently identified three volcanic glass beads from lunar soil samples collected by the Chang’e-5 mission. Their research shows that the beads were formed 123±15 million years ago (Ma), thus representing the youngest lunar volcanism confirmed by radioisotope dating so far.
The study was published in Science.
Dating of lunar volcanic basalt samples returned to Earth by the Apollo and Luna missions or delivered to Earth as lunar meteorites has shown that lunar basaltic volcanism continued until at least 2.9–2.8 billion years ago (Ga). However, analysis of lunar samples returned by China’s Chang’e-5 mission has demonstrated that basaltic volcanism persisted until at least 2.0 Ga.
Remote sensing observations have indicated potentially even younger volcanism during the late Copernican era (<0.8 Ga) on the Moon. However, none of these remote observations provide a precise date for the potential volcanism. In addition, the proposed extrusions of late-Copernican mare basalt cover only restricted areas, no samples of which are available.
Eruptions of gas-rich magma can generate magma fountains, which produce submillimeter glass beads. Such beads could potentially be deposited over wide areas and subsequently be transported further across the lunar surface by impact. The volcanic glasses could be a trace component in existing samples.
Under the guidance of Profs. LI Qiuli and HE Yuyang, graduate student WANG Biwen and postdoctoral researcher ZHANG Qian investigated ~3000 glass beads in lunar soil samples and identified three volcanic glass beads, based on their textures, major- and trace-element compositions, and in situ sulfur isotope analyses.
The δ34S values of the three volcanic glass beads apparently differs from impact glass beads, thus providing criteria for distinguishing volcanic glasses from impact glasses. Uranium-lead dating of the three volcanic glass beads shows that they formed 123±15 million years ago (Ma).
The radioisotope dating of the three Chang’e-5 volcanic glass beads provides definitive evidence for 120-million-year-old volcanism on the Moon. The presence of such young lunar volcanism implies that small celestial bodies, such as the Moon, could maintain sufficient heat to sustain internal vitality until a very late stage. These results contribute additional constraints for geophysical models on the thermal history of the Moon’s deep interior.

Love Island S10 June 5th.
Getting excited for Love Island S10 next week. Here is Love island control room. The producers of UK Love Island show say there are 70'ish cameras inside the Villa (interior and rear garden)? There looks more like +/-120 to 123 here. (possible up to 12 screens per section= 12 sections total. Some are black=not used) Must include challenge stage (located in field behind Villa), Villa front and some of the screens include islander close ups so maybe the cameraman? I read somewhere there is a 1-2 cameraman in the garden and they probably have one inside the Villa so no sneaky chats or kisses happen without getting taped. All in all it's quite an impressive production for 24/7 filming for +/-7 weeks and only 1 hour/6 nights a week gets aired!

Between Akane, Kana, and Ruby, which do you think is the best written, and has more depth outside of their relationship/crush on Aqua? The argument I’ve been seeing most often from diehard fans of any of the three girls is that the other two (or one of the other two) don’t have any depth beyond liking Aqua. Been seeing this especially from people who hate Kana, but also from Akane haters and Ruby haters
Anon I truly believe you sent this with nothing but good faith in your heart but never before have I received an ask that looked more like the internet equivalent of someone handing me a baseball bat and pointing me in the direction of a hornet's nest. AND BROTHER, I'M ABOUT TO START SWINGING!!!!
In order from best to worst I'd say right now, it goes Kana -> Akane -> Ruby. If you'd asked me this question in a pre-123 world I probably would've said it's Ruby -> Kana -> Akane but… well i'll be getting into what existing in a post-123 world has done for ruby's character soon enough anyway lol.
I fully expect to be hit with accusations of bias in this regard both because I just have generally always liked Kana and fandom lately has been so fucking weird about her but the reason I like Kana is because I think she's the most consistent and fleshed out beyond the scope of her relationship with Aqua. Like, to be clear, all the girls definitely revolve around him way more than they should - to a degree, this is just kind of the nature of the beast in a story like OnK where a lot of characters' foothold into the story are their personal relationship with the protag. But so much of their screentime and story relevance is eaten up by the romance subplots that it ends up coming at the expense of giving the viewer a strong sense of who they are outside those relationships.
This is the trap I think Akane falls into, to the detriment of her character writing. On paper, she's a super interesting character with a lot of potential to add to the story's themes and overall commentary but her actual role in the story and the context within which she's allowed relevance is purely just Being Aqua's Love Interest. Hell, her foothold into the cast period is just that she and Aqua are fake dating and Akane is catching both feelings and a sense of indebted gratitude towards him, so she's totally down to match his freak about it. There's a reason I think Tokyo Blade is her best post-LoveNow arc and it's because while the developing relationship between her and Aqua is an important part of the story, it's absolutely not Akane's focus when compared to everything else she's got going on with Kana. After this arc, though, she's given basically zero plotlines or things to do that aren't wholly predicated on Being Aqua's GF and the interesting underlying issues suggested to exist in her character go largely ignored in favor of her serving Aqua's story. She doesn't really have any relationships with the other cast members outside of Kana and even that ends up devolving into love triangle slop. The result is that, based purely on what exists in the text of the story, Akane is isolated from any other character that she could interact with to create a sense that she has a life and interior world unrelated to Aqua.
This is also why I say Ruby is the worst hit by the Love Triangle Brainrot Disease out of the three heroines because she had an interesting, lively character with a full world and social life that had nothing to do with Aqua only for 123 to come along and infect her with terminal love interest brainrot. Honestly, Ruby being Like This with Aqua right now is probably the biggest singular issue with OnK at the moment, because it means one of the series' primary protagonist is stuck in this malformed relationship cul-de-sac where the feelings we've spent the entire series building up and fleshing out have somehow simultaneously taken over her entire character at the expense of all her other ongoing plotlines while also going entirely unaddressed by the narrative. 123 essentially wiped Ruby's slate clean of anything that wasn't the AquRuby stuff and then proceeded to treat it like a massive joke for literally 20 entire chapters - once again, at the expense of what was a genuinely really necessary arc for her. Ruby's so-called 'revenge' peters out with a wet fart because all the moments leading up to it that should have given any of it weight are offscreened in favour of yet another panel of Ruby splooging over her brother. But despite this being like the one singular thing her character has going on right now, Akasaka is simply refusing to address the massive incest elephant in the room, which means that both Ruby as a character and the story as a whole are robbed of opportunities to develop and be developed by an exploration of how that massive taboo intersects with and affects… literally anything! Since 123, we've gotten exactly one chapter that bothered to even pretend it was taking Ruby's feelings seriously but despite it ending on perhaps one of The Biggest Status Quo Shifts in the whole series… it too has gone entirely unaddressed!!!
Both Akane and Ruby are trapped in this bog of having their entire characters reduced to revolving round Aqua while being disallowed from meaningful development that would probably advance or give closure to that relationship. Akane… sort of gets this with her whole "i'm his mom now btw kana you should suck him silly" thing and her big dramatic haircut but even then, she's still orbiting Aqua and his revenge quest because apparently she has nothing better to do. Ruby, meanwhile, is in this baffling place where the story is having to twist itself into so many pretzels to avoid addressing whatever the hell is going on with her and Aqua before the Akasaka ordained Most Dramatic Moment that she is not getting any moment-to-moment development that might even risk letting her address or untangle any of this stuff. She and Aqua are not allowed to have any direct on-screen interactions and even when they did in 157, it just felt plastic and artificial and honestly kind of forced because of that failure to so much as acknowledge UH, HEY, REMEMBER WHEN RUBY STUCK HER TONGUE DOWN AQUA'S THROAT?
anyway. ALL THAT UP ^ THERE ^ is the reason I think Kana is the character who feels the most fleshed out beyond the bounds of her relationship with Aqua, ironically because of having comparatively less romantic focus and explicitly romantic interactions with him. Because less of her screentime is taken up by romance drama, it allows her to just breathe and exist as a person without her entire role in the story being Aqua's Love Interest. Her major moments of development are all built on Kana's own backstory and baggage which has basically nothing to do with Aqua and everything to do with her own insecurities, her history of abuse and abandonment, her obsession with acting and her fervent desperation to cling to the entertainment industry even when it has made clear that it doesn't want to make a place for her anymore, because so much of her personhood is warped by and tangled up in her childhood growing up in the public eye. That's not to say Aqua isn't involved in Kana's arc and he has an undeniably huge impact on her, but when you look at the ways his interactions with her push her story along it very much feels like Kana is just having her own arc that Aqua is serving and sometimes intersecting with rather than the other way around (as it feels for Akane and Ruby).
WITH ALL THAT SAID… it is just blatantly a bad faith reading of the series to the point of flat out lying about the contents of the story to say any of the three heroines have nothing going on outside their relationships with Aqua, even if we don't get as much focus on that stuff as I'd like. Ruby has her whole history as Sarina and the experiences of abuse, disempowerment and abandonment that have created the bullheaded high-energy Ruby of the present day. Akane struggles with low self-worth and tendencies towards creating narratives for herself and other people in her head that don't always survive impact with reality. Kana has… well, I rambled about all that up there lol. In fact, all three of the heroines are interested in Aqua for imo, at least hypothetically well developed reasons that have observable and tangible roots in their own histories and personal baggage and how Aqua, as a person, has impacted them.
The issue is not with the girls themselves or their feelings for Aqua. The issue is that Akasaka is a romcom guy flying by the seat of his pants trying to write a murder mystery character drama and it's just not what he's cut out for. So he falls back on what he knows - the romance stuff - regardless of how it does or does not cohere with the arcs of the characters involved or the wider story at large. He simply doesn't have the chops to balance both halves of the story at once and his clear interest in playing shipping drama for all its worth has ultimately compromised the integrity of the surrounding story, to the detriment of the characters involved.

Data Entry: THE IRKEN EMPIRE
The Irken Empire stands as a formidable and ambitious organization, recognized as the most powerful entity within the universe to date. With a dominating presence, the empire encompasses a total of 193 galaxies, forming alliances with an additional 123 galaxies, while also laying waste to 1,341 galaxies. This dominance is a testament to their relentless pursuit of universal conquest, marked by a track record of never having suffered a defeat in war.
The roots of the Irken Empire trace back to an era predating many neighboring stars, underscoring its extensive history and longstanding prominence. While the empire currently follows a strategic straight-line expansion plan, its territorial influence predominantly radiates from the artificial planet of Irk.
Irk itself is a colossal metal planet, its interior hollowed out for comprehensive utilization. The planet’s surface is adorned with sprawling cities, while the internal structure is a vast facility divided into various sections. Irk’s size and configuration provide it with a rotation comparable to Earth’s, albeit with significantly colder temperatures.
At the helm of the empire are the Tallest, who currently comprise Red and Purple as the ruling figures. Notably, the previous two rulers, Miyuki and Spork, met untimely ends, with their demise attributed to the actions of ZIM (ERROR REDACTED) Superior model one. The role of the Tallest is to oversee the care and governance of the Irken Empire, and Commander Tem, at present, plays a pivotal role in assisting with a multitude of essential tasks within the empire.
