Disclaimer: I am not angry or upset with anyone, and this is not directed at anyone in particular. I am just taking this as an opportunity to ramble about a subject that I love thinking and talking about.

While I definitely agree that there are fun things to explore with alpha/alpha and omega/omega relationships, I think it's also limiting and incongruous with the reality of our society, and the vast amount of variation available in the fictional world of omegaverse, to think of these two as the only options for a relationship to be "queer"

I think by the standards of our actual real society, the only type of relationship in an omegaverse setting that can maybe be considered straight is that of a monogamous vanilla relationship between a allosexual alloromantic heterosexual heteroromantic Beta Male and a allosexual alloromantic heterosexual heteroromantic Beta Female.

Maybe maybe, depending on the specifics of the omegaverse au in question, a monogamous vanilla relationship between a allosexual alloromantic heterosexual heteroromantic Alpha or Beta Male and a allosexual alloromantic heterosexual heteroromantic Beta or Omega Female.

Any time male omegas or female alphas are involved, that is a queer relationship (by general standards of at least USAmerican society). Also any time there is anyone nonbinary involved. And any time the relationship is male/male or female/female. And anytime there are more than 2 people involved in the relationship. And anytime anyone in the relationship is not both allosexual and alloromantic. And anytime anyone in the relationship is not heterosexual and heteroromantic.

And as for standards within an omegaverse au...

yeah sure, there could be a version of omegaverse where the only kinds of relationships that are considered queer are alpha/alpha and omega/omgega ones...

because omegaverse is a fictional alternate universe and anyone can do anything they want with it

but i don't think that that is a very realistic, popular, or fun version of omegaverse, personally.

I personally think that in a universe with six combinations of binary gender and designation ( alpha male, alpha female, beta male, beta female, omega male, omega female ) the hetero / homo binary wouldn't really be a thing (or at least much less of a thing)

Imo in an omegaverse au trying to be idk realistic? or close to current society? while bringing in the omegaverse elements would probably break down orientations (and the positive or negative views of them) on the basis of assumed reproductive capability.

So like, depending on setting specifics, we may end up with something like this:

beta male / beta female, alpha or beta male / beta or omega female and alpha / omega (of any gender) are considered to be able to produce children and are thus acceptable.

and alpha or beta male / alpha or beta male, beta or omega female / beta or omega female, and omega / omega (of any gender) and alpha / alpha (of any gender) would be considered unable to produce children and are thus unacceptable.

But! That’s just depending on setting specifics. In some settings male omegas cannot get pregnant, in some they can but it’s not very likely. 

And just because i think it’s realistic for a near ours society to break things down along the lines of presumably able to produce kids / not able to produce kids doesn’t mean that’s the only option. 

Religion can’t really be underestimated when it comes to shaping the history of how we see gender and orientation. Who knows what that history would be like in an alternate universe. Maybe omegas get associated with an evil or fallen entity and are thus considered unworthy and unclean, and any relationship with an omega is thus considered queer.

And all that isn’t even to begin to delve into nonbinary genders, transgender people, or intersex people. And the possibility in an AU like this for nontrinary designations, transdesignation people, and interdesignation people.

This is a big part of why i love omegaverse, theres just so much room to explore and play with the subjects of gender and orientation.

TLDR:

And idk I just think thinking about it as alpha/alpha and omega/omega are the only queer options is limited. The gender of whoever someone is in a relationship with isn’t actually the ultimate determining factor of whether a person or a relationship is queer. Thats just. Not how it works.

The same is, in my opinion, true of omegaverse designations.

What’s the word for someone who is interdynamic in A/B/O?

I generally use interdynamic or interdesignation and I feel like they would be the more Official/Accepted ways to refer to it in-universe.

More than happy to hear other suggestions as well. Especially more slang/common-language ones.

Interior & Colour Script

We had a team meeting about how to proceed with the concept work once Kal's storyboard was complete. Mica had been working on a blueprint for the interior but there was still a lot of design required for each shot and the placement of props, etc.. I pitched the idea of me creating the grey box block-out for the interior that would combine Mica's blue print as well as the elements required for the story board to work - such as the idea of levels, replacing the water with a garden because of the spiders, the placement of the pillars for the mural, and a platform for the Geisha to signify power imbalance, etc. This would also allow me to set up the cameras for each shot and lighting for the colour story. The 3D environment and Unreal artists could take my file and use it as a base for their 3D modelling and set dressing and use the camera settings as a guide for the focal length & field of view etc.

I created Arnold mesh lights and rendered a colour story of all of our shots using manikins from the content browser.

The colour journey was important for the narrative as it had to convey the moment when safety and familiarity became betrayal and danger. The colours were carefully balanced in the opening scene to still have a cyberpunk element, but also to appear inviting. This couldn't happen with either the absence of the greens or the reds as a monochromatic pallet would denote sickness on the green spectrum, or threat on the red, which we leaned into hard during the betrayal shots. The blue in the doorway also linked the exterior colour design to the interior. The main inspiration (supplied by Kal) the team used for the lighting was a series of stills from Cyberpunk 2077 when things took a dangerous turn after the death of a high profile character.

We assigned different shots to the concept artists to better design lighting and character acting. I worked on the 2D rendering the shots that would inform the majority of the design for the interior.
