A meal to remember. @iwtvfanevents
During the past year I have read and interacted with some of the most creative and talented writers. It astounds me the amount of skill that is in this fanspace and for this meal to remember I wanted to highlight some of my favorite writers and give them their well deserved flowers
Overview: With this fanspace I have traveled through many different universes, explored characters through an analytical lens that parallels the show itself, enjoyed these stories in fun, wholesome*, and interesting ways ! I have seen such beautiful creativity and I wanted to highlight some of my favorite fic writers and really delve into what I enjoy so so much about their writings in no particular order xoxo
@nakiaslilhoodoo | SnakesandRabbits
Your fics are truly like comfort food to me like I love sitting down after a long day and reading like truly sweet stuff. A lift truly did give me that christmassy feeling during the holidays. It’s stuff like that that makes you say aw this is sweet you know, like matched with Then Leave like yess innovative trans lou / Lily I love that so so much. And we also have comedic aspects in em’ too which I love how your fics never fail to make me smile-- I remember getting giddy at the Chess series (I was like oo what’s coming next like I loved the lil beef its just very fun). Ohh and I cannot forget to mention The Time We Have which is quite beautiful. I like the calm of it, yes I can feel the fresh morning itself--it's just like the little things you know, those little moments are oh so lovely.
@blacclotusss | BlaccLotuss
I love how you explore Jonah and Louis’ relationship like ion see much of it but you’re my go to in these especially alternate realities. Like the sweetness is off the charts in your fics and I love the fluffiness and how you branch out into that mix-medianess in Come Home to Me and your exploration of that sweet parts of Claudia and Louis together through Letters* . Also woahh just god the sweetness in Sexual Immorality I love how you write Louis and Armand together, dialogue is just so so nice. And the roleplay in the ending like oop you never fail to like get me with endings like reminding me of how shocked I was of Charred’s ending, just so good and so insane. I loved the gothic fluff of that one itself, woah.
@blueiight | southernhummingbird
Poeticism in unimaginable ways, you really have it. I remember first reading rhododendron and like just the feeling was of an instrument the way your words just literally string me along. And then it’s like you pull out bangers after bangers in the delta breeze [dare to breathe] it’s nostalgic, beautiful, lush and heart wrenching all at once, again the words strung me along so perfectly. Lipstick traces is so so vivid and I love the story being told here, you pack so much in small sections it’s so astounding and inspiring to me < 3
@dictee | boltcutters
I remember first reading dirges and oh my god not only are you somewhat of a prophet but you enraptured me into the beauty of your writing. It had lead me to the first taste just quite beautiful it feel like a page ripped out of season two... and l just love how evocative it is. I also feel like I’ve gone on and on to you personally about how astounded I am by i am amazed by peace just dyke loumand is presented so so gorgeously--you’re writing in this reminds me of a past memory. It is so absolutely insane how you display your writing chops just so wonderfully.
@knifeeater | serpentskirts
You have the type of writing style that makes everything so so beautiful. I think the romantic-eroticism in each of your stories are just shown in such a beautiful rhythmic way like in perpetuum mobile and also in glass--which when I read it I feel like I got so caught up in your words it’s like your descriptions are consuming me.
@enterprisery| flowerplots
Your writing feels like calm, the way your words are given to me. Like even in your erotic gore ( your heart inside my chest ) it feels like I’m just taking a breath-- and speaking of which breath, held just displays that your creativity knows no bounds, in every fic you write it just fits so perfectly for these characters and it’s so wonderful how you write them in their descriptors (like in push too far --which btw I love the way it is formatted, so so unique) and in their dialogue (like in hunger )--it’s all so beautiful.
@meastyeyes | meastyeyes
I really love Keep me Humming the fluffiness is really nice and I love how the vividness in it can match what we could see in the show. I enjoy how you show that love through Louis very very gorg the tension of it all amazing.
@weather-mood | weathermood
All your stories have an air of magic in them like of course with your incredible list of fairytales The Princess and the Pea (aa louis princess moments I love) , Once Upon a Wine Dark Sea ( Which just fits so well--siren-vampirism yeah I love just seeing how you display these characters as different mythos, your universes are so out of this world it is amazing.), and rumplestiltskin (which I remember when I first read you had that beautiful air of mystery in that beginning and to come to find out it was simply armanlou roleplaying antics--it kind of unlocked something in me) but also seeing that freshness and dreaminess that is featured in fairy tales also in your stories that are not necessarily based off of that (such as Train Tracks , Glass Coffins and Golden Roses, and mental topology experiments to the tune of bubblegum bitch ). Just an amazing selection of works--in your long fics they always keep me guessing where it’s gonna go and I love that.
@nlbv | nlbv
Your writing is just so so amazing, descriptors off the charts I must start with baby father in which you start off with me already visualizing everything. The mood is set in such a nostalgic way it’s vividness takes me into the scene. Exploration of Louis and Claudia is always so gorg and you do it so so wonderfully. And I remember, oh, I remember reading the different stories in Scenes From A Marriage how you can take moments from the canon out and expand upon it, keep the scene running all with gorgeous prose.
@shewhomustbecalledking | dirtygoldensoul
a holy love is so so atmospheric I feel as if I am in the universe itself when I read it. And I feel like that’s a common thread within your stories. Because whenever I always feel like I’m falling into the world whether it’s more grounded in the rivalry induced beautiful liars or being put into the true blood inspired Under the Blood Moon you just know how to create these worlds and quite wonderfully so.
@devotiondroid | themasterletters
Your ability to put these characters in the show in different situations so eloquently is so so astounding to me. I remember when I’d first started reading your writings and seeing how the plot literally kept me guessing and it had done the same in cord of communion and especially in quizas (which, I am obsessed with to this day it has an amazing grasp on me). And the way your genres can shift and morph from wolfsbane to in a lonely place like it feels like you can do it all and still enrapture me--such beautiful prose and such an engaging writing style just fantastic.
@diasdelfuego | gaypiratedivorce
Little Kidnaps was one of the first (if not the first) IWTV fic I have ever read so your writing instantly implemented a special place in my heart. And this fic--and nox itself-- is something that I always kept going back to and rereading every other time it’d update or come to my mind. You have such a beautiful vision of the IWTV story itself (and the VC as a whole) and how you balance these characters is just so wonderful--it kept me reading in times I was deprived from the show. But your lovely writing does not stop there of course--I’ll let you win really is so so gorgeous wow like you got me with the noir setting and it astounds me how vivid you write it and also try to swallow the wave is so amazing as well from start to finish and your writings just do that certain amount of re-readability that I will always keep coming back to you.
@iwtvdramacd18 | The_Lame_Goat
Your descriptions in stories are out of this world the tiptoeing between romance and horror and romance inside that very horror is very gorgeous--Lunacy is a great example of this, and the way it is set up in little fragments ( non- linear) it is just wonderful what you’re doing and continue to do. Prey Drive I feel like is also in this category and oh I do love me some prey drive (it’s one of those goat classics™ ) and I come back to it because it does pull me in with that chase with that hunt--just all of it is gorgeously written. I think what also just drives me to your writing is your characterization and I think in Wolfkiller it is especially on display. I love how you write Claudia and the horror of Lestat --Wolfkiller never fails to make me say ‘You get it’ because you really do and it drives me insane. And of course special mention to To Pluck Gently At Strings it goes so hard I became a Armand/Nicki understander because of such vividness in the descriptors just great !
@kittyldpdl | kittyldpdl
I’m not sure if it was the night island or bass in my body that I had first read but regardless I had been coerced by your writing. Like it is banger after banger with your fics, your prose so beautiful and it hypnotizes me into reading more and more. cleave/tie left me wondering what was next, left me thinking about it for days in and out and rereading it the effect just leaves me going back to it again. And I know I’ve talked to you at length about your fics (lol when I was reading the bloody chamber I was like was that an #kittyldpdl reference ) but I feel as though I could go on and on about how amazing your prose is. Footfall had me again feeling that same way, falling in love with your writing again, making me curious about it all--mixture of the gore eroticism. Fantastic and inspiring all around !
Collaborations:
dirtygoldensoul x gaypiratedivorce Collab:
And it’s quite amazing how both of yall can beautifully mesh their writings--this is displayed wonderfully in overlords I spent a whole day reading it and catching up on it, y’all writing combined truly encapsulates that air of mystery and a feeling of nostalgia (but in an ominous deja vu type of way). That just very thing entrances me immensely.
MasterMood Universe:
It was a holiday season gift, it was a valentine's day gift--and it keeps on giving. Like it was insane from the start and you both, as I mentioned, have a feature in your writings where you cannot tell where its gonna go and it leaves you anticipating and excited to see what happens next. And of course bonus points because of how wholesome* the whole teachers’ pet series is. I can tell y’all had so so much fun writing these stories because I can see it directly through the writing and it only added to my own enjoyment.
weathermood x nlbv Collab:
Pirouette is an amazing look into Lily and like I love how yall take this little bit we have of her in the show and expound on her in such a complex way. I love in general just taking off little parts of the show and making more of it but this is next level--and y’all did it so wonderfully woah.
The_Lame_Goat & kittyldpdl Collaboration:
Y’all writing together stuns me to the point of extreme amazement. The wrath of the lamb has some of the most beautiful and addicting prose ever, and it is such a wonderful blend of y’all two it scares me !! The story and the words itself just absolutely wonderful--it’s the type of thing you have to read over again and slow to just get that feeling of when you’d first read it. So excited but apprehensive for the second chapter (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a warning before yall post it I need to mentally prepare and I dont wanna die !!!!! )
I want to specially mention ‘House’ which just shows the talent on full display at full force. Like in general I have never seen anything like it before--for starters just the immense collaboration between 7 people who are so dedicated to not only the show but their craft as well--and to do that and for it to flow so beautifully is absolutely both insane and amazing to me. The whole concept of the story being akin to like a game--trying to essentially escape the house, being forced back in and in turn being plunged into little scenes of the house itself--excerpts of the past through the overall horror element of the house itself. Going through hallways to try to complete it and find every bit of the house--it is so vivid in the way that the chapters are set up. When you get stuck you really feel stuck and the high emotive chapters really get you and then you’re pushed into a calm moment and everything feels okay or not quite right--I love the many many combinations of the ways you can go (how the house gets bigger so it feel like the possibilities truly are endless !). I remember when I first read it and I was absolutely astounded. I felt every level of emotion, the happy, the sad, the nostalgia--just everything that makes the show the show is put into ‘House’ gracefully. Such a masterful collaboration, I wanna hang it up on my fridge. House inspired me to make D;I the way it is-- the interactiveness grabbed me and the story itself made me play along til’ the end (& again) and I will keep rereading until it consumes me whole. Mwah Everyone who wrote in it did such a lovely job even when I tried to look at a single chapter it entrances me and pushes me into reading the whole thing <3
That’s about it--I do feel like I missed a few fic writers ( but ofc if we ever have something like this again I’ll make a bigger list so I have more time~~) I always try to comment on stuff I enjoy so just know I see ur talenttt & I see you. I just love the creativity in general and woah everyone is so so amazing

You're so right. the sex industry is lucrative and fast money. Since the Du Lacs were months from bankruptcy an honest business was not going to cut it. He even says that his little corner grocery stores weren't making enough. And I'll bet getting that kind of big money that fast while also being the token/pet black was addictive.
he needed to get rich fast cuz his family was also unaware of how close to bankruptcy they were. i wouldnt say he liked being the token black person more than he liked the power n psychosexual performance of controlling what these rich white men have sexual access to. “the product was desire” his modern self says. and he was the plug. re: his fixation on acquiring the fairplay salloon in ep1-2 is motivated by that & etc etc etc. ep1 when lestat is like “u made me buy a townhouse in the quarter” louis is like “i know men of my race look the same to u ppl but i aint sell u no house” & as soon as he becomes a vampire in ep2 he kills the assessor (?) for calling him a “good negro”. lestat is a french white man he knows little about here other than this guy has more things than me & hes feeling up on lily while staring at me. i wanna be him , kill him, and REDACTED by him. it unnerved him bc lestat was likening him to lily in that moment of sexual tension. translating lestat’s sentence, snarking at him off the jump, then being mesmerized by him not to put my ship goggles on [for a canon ship ik lol] is a rly gr8 way to set up the lxl dynamic n how louis operates. show louis is someone with sum i deem interpersonal racial pride. he interacts with his particular black classed community of his era n shows a perfectly respectable face in the eyes of the black church, his baby sister w the tickets up the garvey line, but everybody know where that money come from& r perfectly fine eating off its benefits. louis strategizing to get ahead at the expense of the black ‘collective’ outside of his immediate network. claudia would be someone outside of that as a poor black girl. shes the type of girl louis couldve .. well. lets just say, the fact that louis saved claudia in the midst of the race riot n losing his family , their shared tie of being made immortal by lestat & decades of living with lestat brought this temporary show of solidarity in the murder plot btwn lou+clauds that otherwise may have not have been there had claudia & louis met in a diff situation n show potential to go a lot of places in parts of s2 when lestat is out the picture. anyways. louis is not a self loathing black man n he hates being the token, but he was hardly a paragon of racial solidarity in s1. n he was always aware that his privileges were extremely conditional & dependent on how much of himself he was able to comparmentalize in situations where he did not have the upper hand and had to put aside his pride. what better to set up a certain kind of person whod favor eternal life, than a suicidal bougie boule opportunist of a black gay man whos aspects of himself all existed on different bookshelves.. who had to lie about his family’s financial condition to them, who tries to maintain this double life even with newly bestowed immortality. hes not grovelling at tom or fenwick’s feet, he plays the game to stay afloat but despises having to smile in their face. thats why when hes a vampire & the laws r discriminating against him hes so much more transparent in showing how he feels about them. all that pentup aggression he felt as the only black man in those rooms is the fuel for why he gored fenwick& ripped up toms jaw. i think 1x01 louis was actually at a breaking point but 1x02-beginning of 1x03 b4 the vampire starvation shit louis was rly feeling himself when the dough was rolling in. he has the fairplay salloon, he has lestat, he can ‘control’ what white people have sexual access to. but all that crumbles…
#yn.#yn answers#iwtv#louis de pointe du lac#Hes not a buy back the block type nigga hes the ‘i can fuck & kill a honkey out ws’ type guy. jacob anderson saying lou can kill a racist#but cant kill Racism.

I chose Neither, because AMC's gone and effed me up; they completely changed how I think about Claudia now and I love it:
Back when it was just the books and movie, I'd've said Claudia de Lioncourt.
Lestat made her, he was the one in charge, he bought her clothes and taught her to hunt--he was her father; she was the blood of his blood, "evil of his evil," etc. They were just alike, in all the ways that mattered. Although hurt by her betrayal, Lestat is proud of her gumption.
Even down to their physical features, Claudia actually resembled Lestat. Claudia was a female mini clone of Lestat-- Gabrielle in reverse.
And just like Gabrielle, Claudia was strong and independent--but vampirism trapped her, stuck with Lestat in that doll-like little girl body. Meanwhile, vampirism liberated Gabrielle and empowered her, allowing her to shed the societal chains of feminine gender norms to live freely like a man, away from Lestat.
(It's deeply ironic how Viktor is a LITERAL clone of Lestat, while never interacting with his father during his own childhood. And how terrified Lestat was of becoming his own father. It's all wrapped up in the Chateau, and Lestat rebuilding it into something new and better for the next generation of vampires; finally cleansing the land (ie: himself and his family) of the Lioncourts' generational curse/trauma).
It's long been established that AR created Louis as a way to project her experiences as a wife & mother onto him. Lestat's the alpha male, the pater familias, and Louis is the homemaker.
But now that we have this glorious new twist from AMC, my knee-jerk reaction is to say Oh, it's obviously Claudia de Pointe du Lac, right? I mean, it's Daddy Lou and Uncle Les, after all. Aside from what this says about their family dynamic and the inevitable distance that would grow between them; the show itself is self aware enough to know that Louis is the only viable candidate to claim her:
Because AMC!Claudia is black, there's no way they could get away with her taking Lestat's surname without raising some serious eyebrows amongst those racist white people. Even in NOLA, (in)famous for its mixed races and Creole heritage and quadroon/octaroon balls, miscegnation/interracial relationships were an open secret but still kept hush-hush, especially during Jim Crow, when it was outright illegal. It was literally safer for her to have a black man's name (an ex-pimp of all things), than to invite more questions about who Lestat was sleeping/living with. In many ways, having Claudia exposed them too much--"there would be no Roaring 20s for us...."
At Florence's funeral, Louis takes full responsibility for Claudia when explaining her situation to Grace and Levi. Louis is the one in charge of Claudia now, since it's his family he'd need to talk to, and his community she's part of (eg: Louis' the one who had to talk to the black funeral home owner to even buy Claudia's coffin). Lestat is now firmly relegated to the background, removed from "human affairs" the way he insisted that Louis be all those years ago--"you wanted her; you fix her!"
However.... 👀☝️
AMC is on demon time with the way they take the book canon story beats, twist the knife on them, subvert so many gender/societal norms, and all on a bed of racial discourse:
For all that "Uncle Les" is the more effeminate/yassified character, he is (deliberately) written more as the (stereo)typical father figure. He's the "crotchety" disciplinarian who hardens Claudia with having her kill "most ferocious" and watching Charlie burn; getting mad at her "histrionics" while he's the biggest drama queen in the VC. He's the one who buys/controls what Claudia wears (a la book!Lestat), and teaches her how to play chess & hunt, as a way of controlling how she thinks & acts. He actively tries to make her in his own image, another clone, as the coldblooded killer Louis failed to become, and is BIG MAD when Claudia exterts any independence (a la abandonment issues post-Gabrielle). Ultimately, Lestat becomes his own physically abusive father, the Marquis de Lioncourt, who refuses to let his kid (bb!Les/Claudia) run away from home (again) or take his wife (Gabrielle/Louis) away. The colonialist undertones are stark, especially with Lestat being a Frenchman who lived during the French Revolution, and Claudia (and Louis) being Haitian Creoles who dared to rebel against him (a la Toussaint) and slit his throat (a la guillotine).
For all that Louis is the "Daddy Lou" of the family, "this is your father speaking!," he is still (deliberately) written more as the (stereo)typical mother figure: the soft-spoken helicopter mom who's "smothering" Claudia--the "housewife" who desperately wanted a child "no sons, no daughters;" Claudia slept in his coffin; they bonded more (rowboats, bookworms, being new baby vamps together, spoiling/babying her, being more sympathetic over Charlie, etc); Louis didn't want to read her diaries but could still talk with her telepathically; etc.
IIRC, Lestat was physically distanced from them five times: as their Maker he can't read their minds; his fledlings shared a coffin together; as an absentee father he abandoned them in their broken home after Ep5 for almost a decade jfc; as a white man could not sit with them at the back of the bus; the murder plot and his reign as the Swamp/Dump King.
In many ways, Louis' power/authority in that household hinged on what either Lestat or Claudia let him get away with and how much they were willing to let him keep the peace--from who shared Louis' coffin, to how much access Louis had to Claudia's thoughts, to how long Lestat stayed away in Ep6.
Although Louis tried to protect her from Lestat's wrath, he ended up crippled for 3 years, and Claudia was forced to mother HIM instead; feeding and rehabilitating him. She had to be the strong one and face down the monster that had disrespected and attacked her, and beat her parent right in front of her, and turn Lestat and his stupid gifts away, when Louis would've folded like a leaf to take him back. Louis could no longer be her Daddy or look after her--he couldn't even look after himself--and even Lestat knew he wasn't fit to "pick an apple off a tree," let alone be there for his broken family.
TL;DR: Ultimately, it was Claudia who emancipated herself from BOTH her fathers, insisting that she be called their Sister and EQUAL. "Locked together in hatred," she stayed with them because she had no other choice--she wanted to leave for Europe with ONLY Louis, but over and over Lestat wouldn't let her; and Louis wasn't able to leave his husband on his own, not even for "his daughter" Claudia's sake. She was stuck between a tyrant and a vegetable, a real Caesar Salad of a situation, and as usual was forced to "make the best of it." Claudia earned the right to her mononym, surname neither desired nor required! 👸🏾

Some people are so pessimistic saying Lou won't be able to forgive Lestat which makes me wonder... how does it go in the books? How does he forgive him?
VERY MINOR BOOK SPOILERS BUT UNDER CUT FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT ANY AT ALL
An important thing to keep in mind is that their relationship is deeply complex within the books. The books cover nearly 200 years, give or take, of their relationship.
And another thing to consider is that it is different in the show. Book Louis doesn't need to forgive Book Lestat for the extreme physical violence because it just doesn't happen. Show Louis would have to be much more forgiving than Book Louis so it's hard to figure out how Louis forgives him in the show by basing it on the books. (A note here, I'm struggling to want Show Louis to forgive, and if he ever does, it should take literal decades).
But in the books, their relationship goes through several ups and downs. The first big down is the breakdown of the family relationship. And something to keep in mind is that by the time the breakdown is happening in the show, they've been together 20 years total. In the books, they've been together for 70 years by the time it comes crashing down, with Claudia with them for 65 of those years.
It takes roughly 120 years before they truly interact with each other again properly after that. Yes, there are moments where they see each other but the true proper reunion doesn't occur until 1985 in the books, and the family breakdown was in the mid 1860s. Between those two times, Louis meets and starts living with Armand (not in the show yet), but then begins to yearn for Lestat, leaves Armand, and tries to find him. When he can't, he writes Interview with the Vampire as a way to draw Lestat out; he purposefully exaggerated some events in order to force Lestat to emerge from his self imposed hiding and seek him out. The plan works and Lestat writes The Vampire Lestat and starts a rock band cause of course he does 🤣 Louis finds the now very obvious Lestat and renews their relationship. The forgiveness there comes from there being very little to have to forgive (in the books, the breakdown is due to Claudia's extreme frustration of being a 65 year old woman in a 5 year olds body and her violent reaction to that, rather than any direct action of Lestat). In the books, Claudia is responsible for the breakdown of the family, not Lestat, so Louis doesn't have to forgive Lestat for that. In the show, it's absolutely on Lestat, so it's difficult to gauge how Louis will forgive him based on the books.
Back to the books though...The Queen of the Damned happens and it messes with Lestats head (there's a lot to unpack with that book, it's easier read than explained and no, the movie of the same name bares zero resemblance to the book) and he eventually tries to fly into the sun but realises he's too powerful to be be killed. So Lestat has a bit of an existential crisis. By this point he's searching for answers and leaves Louis to find them. Body Thief happens, Louis refuses to help Lestat cause he thinks he's been an idiot, also Louis wails on Lestat's dog a bit so Lestat burns Louis' house down (Louis is not inside at the time), and at the end of the book Louis is like "you burned my house down, where do I live now?" And decides to live with Lestat.
The rest of the series happens and it's really more stuff like that; Lestat will get restless and need more answers and seek them out, or Louis will need a break from Lestat. Louis lives with Armand every time Lestat leaves, but every time Lestat reappears, he leaves Armand for him.
Ultimately it's a case of they love each other more than anything in the world. And they're vampires. They're not bound by mortal time. They will spend decades together and then need to take a break from each other before ultimately reuniting and spending more decades together. Both have other lovers in between, but that bothers neither of them because they know that their hearts belong to each other, and they always end up going home to each other.
So how does Louis forgive Lestat in the books? There's infinitely less to forgive, and there's nearly two centuries of love and longing between them. And they share a loss that no one else understands, but if you haven't read the books I'll say no more cause spoilers. The shift in timelines has made the time thing difficult in the show cause there's less years to work with. And the end of episode 5 makes a big change to their relationship from what we see in the books.
TLDR; Their relationship in the show is very different from the one in the books cause of the creative choices made with the show but it ultimately comes down to loving each other and being able to take literal centuries to cool off after arguments. Not sure how to apply it to the show though. Show Louis is going to have be infinitely more forgiving than Book Louis ever had to be if they're going to have their living-in-a-castle-dancing-at-a-ball-happy-ending (actual ending of the final book, truly).

terri @penspelled @quarterwitched is the one person on this blog I’ve known the longest and I could not love her more. every single one of her muses is well written and she’s always enthusiastic about writing and loves to scream about plots and she’s just the most supportive, greatest friend and i’m so happy we found each other again!
sam @ofblackhearts @tenebriselecti is one of those people where i could write against literally any muse they chose to write. we’ve been friends for a while now and i always feel like there’s more chemistry IN character with the people who I can talk to OUT of character as well and we can cry about posie or talk tv shows and i love that for us!!
tessa @nosestealer duplicate muses or even face claims can be stressful but LISTEN tessa makes it so effortless and easy to write josie and lou ellen into the same universe and it’s honestly impressive how much thought she put into not only the character, but how she would fit into different universes, even legacies where she has a doppelganger in josie. she’s one of the easiest people to talk to and she gets me thinking about different parts of my muses lives that otherwise wouldn’t cross my mind which is GREAT for development!
ashley @teendracula @mikaelsonbled somehow writes her muses perfectly. i definitely have mixed feelings about how legacies went with sebastian’s character but let me tell you, ashley more than makes up for that crappy writing with her portrayal of our favorite tortured vampire soul. i’m honestly so freaking impressed how ashley can write her muses SO FREAKING WELL even in the shortest interactions. aaand she’s cool people so. honestly ashley could write my least favorite character ever and i’d still stan.
hales @jadedvampiress quickly became one of my favorite people on this website and i don’t even know how it happened. we can jump from a conversation screaming about josie/jade/legacies/whatever to talking about random tv shows or whatever’s happening in our lives and it makes our friendship seem so effortless?? which is always a breath of fresh air. her jade is on point and i can like. actually hear jade’s voice when she writes on her blog and i love that. i pretty much stalk all of her threads but it’s fine. it’s fineeeee.
riot @chaosvibes is one of those people who impresses me every single day with how many characters they write and write well. i’ll be the first to admit that there are a LOT of characters that i can’t write well. (can i write josie well? debatable!) but every single character on riot’s blog/s are beautifully written and you can tell they care a lot about the characters they write. we haven’t written much YET but i lovelovelove riot. definitely recommend following!
dysney @hcllhnd @sltzvamp honestly i was always a little intimidated by how different and REALLY FREAKING COOL dysney’s interpretation of alaric was since he’s very au but still… very alaric. that’s hard to do and super impressive. we stan. then there’s alex. oooh alex. i love his relationship with josie already. and josie kind of likes her hellhound boyfriend. i’ll probably follow any blog of dysney’s i come across forever just because their characterization is always so well thought out and well written and amazing!!
sunshine @avisplumis is probably the person i’ve known for the least amount of time (we only followed each other days ago but idk what took us so long tbh!!) but it feels like we’ve known each other forever?? sunshine is… exactly what their alias suggests. actual sunshine. the type of person i can scream and cry over ships and headcanon relationships with and i could honestly write josie with any of their muses so that’s always a plus!
claudia @hybredtm @hvretica @ghovlish is another person i’ve kind of known here and there over my years in indie rp. i actually followed & wrote with klaus on my lizzie account that i had like. before legacies started into the early part of season one and i remember always thinking her interpretation of klaus was sososo good and honestly?? klaus is one of those characters that i think is SUPER hard to write (i could never!!) so props to claudia for writing him so well. her valerie is amazing too and she was quick to jump on the jade salvatore-tulle crazy train with me so that’s fun.
jennifer @naturesloopholed @geminiloopholed is the type of person i admire for how much she just… loves her characters, and it really shows. like you can tell just from reading (stalking?) her interactions how much she cares about her muses and that’s a quality i definitely admire. lizzie is another character that’s very hard to write and she handles the character so well, and her hope is very well written too. jennifer is just a nice person to talk to and puts as much love into other people’s muses as her own which i adore!!

All we ever do in this house is LIE!!!
Armand acting like he Rashid and muslim/praying*
Daniel acting like the way Rashid looks up at him with those innocent (LIE) beautiful big brown eyes isn’t giving him bi panic.
Louis acting like he just resting when really he prolly spiraling bc we’ve approached Claudia’s era.
*very interested to see what they do with this aspect of Armand in considering what other’s who have read the book have said about his relationship to religion.
the Houshold Help/Rashid file sends me every time
Claudia’s room is what i dreamed of when i was young only ida had barbies where her dolls are.
Omgsh how cute!! Louis and Lestat’s outfits really compliment each other’s in the scene where Claudia telling Les he gotta knock!! They could have been the cutest fathers, but they’re insane. I imagine Louis probably did knock first but i think its funny that Les getting kicked out while Louis gets to stay in there. Rules are Rules
So the extravagance of the kill don’t bother you at the birthday party Daddy Lou?
Louis: We’ll find one in your size
instead of acknowledging that she’ll never grow. oh i hate it here. pleeeaaasseee put me down.
God this sequence is so sweet 😭😭. except we’re seeing everything from the inside of the glass jar Louis wants to keep her (and her memory) in.
Sam’s physical performance is truly top tier. I can tell they had so much fun filming this.
Louis no longer pleading for a place within his living family now that he has his own immortal family. Louis being able to push back from where they try to push him into a corner of shame. I don’t believe he would have approached this interaction with Grace and Levi like he is in this scene if they had never adopted Claudia. He hold himself up a lot firmer in their presence with his own family beside him—defined in a new purpose.
Grace pulling back from Louis’ second cheek kiss is soooo…..
Did Daddy Lou say who’s fault it is that you have to be away from people while he admonishing your behavior Claudia? (please tag me in! i am begging!!)
If this was a healthy family affair instead of a traumatic gothic family affair i think Les and Lou would have balanced each other out as parents. Les doesn’t shy away or obscure from things that Lou wants to “protect” Claudia from. I think their relationship could have developed really beautifully if he wasn’t so unhinged and in love with the patriarchy (also if they hadn’t killed her and tried to make her their immortal daughter for eternity).
belladonnic beauty is such a slay
They way they avoided the conversation of Claudia never seeing the other side of puberty like how human parents avoid the puberty conversation all together. Les gave her the mathematical equivalent of the birds and the bees and then showed her porn. i cannot 😭
iwtv ep 4 rewatch thoughts
ep 4 starting with a sunrise bc the baby trap—the vampire Claudia—is the start of a new dawn in hell. only just like paul, she’s dead too…
ive shared some thoughts on this opening scene here
it breaks my heart that the first time we see the library with all it’s threads to Louis’ humanity/past (the books, the bench, the rocks etc. etc.) is when we’re properly introduced to Claudia given all she represented in Louis’ undead life. He brought her home to make up for what he was losing in the natural world/humanity (his sister/family etc. etc.) and to make up for his sins. but neither could ever truly live under his expectations or be what he needs (to no fault of theirs. tbc i don’t believe Claudia should have had to be what he needed). Claudia expected to play the role of their eternal child could not survive in their castle of lies in her own truth. a real magnolia tree could not survive within the confines of his penthouse coffin of self imposed (and maybe also imposed/enabled by Armand) delusions.
a magnolia tree is said to symbolize luck and stability (according to my quick google search) it’s first introduction in the show is being juxtaposed against the introduction of a character who suffered terrible luck and whose outcome contributes to Louis’ emotional instability. truly dreadful times.
the pink flowers symbolize: grace and femininity as well as joy, youth and innocence which reflects how Louis wants to remember Claudia i think. also the fact that it symbolizes Grace makes me want to be shot into the stratosphere. like please 😭. This is the pain with the vampire show.
i like the joyful and hopeful tone of the soundtrack as we dive in and get to know who she was. it really doesn’t give away what’s to come. it really speaks to the positive shift her addition to the rue royal townhouse brought, even though there was something much more grim happening beneath it. it also juxtaposes Daniel reading out a passage from her journal that is also bitter against the sweet feel of the soundtrack.
i also like that when Daniel picks up the journal that describes Claudia feeding from POWs there’s a wide shot that includes a blurred branch of the tree. which makes me think about that innocence symbolism in regards to how Claudia and her fate is viewed. Every decision that was made for this scene is encouraging/seducing the viewer to have a nuanced approach in how to we perceive Claudia before we get to the grit of it. Just like Louis/Rashmand encouraging Danny to start from the left—the sympathetic beginning—like i spoke about in the link above.
we see a quick shot of a drawn image of a bell in the journal Daniel picks up to read. bells are usually rung at the beginning and/or the end of something. in this case it is both the beginning and the end as we are introduced to Claudia when she is already dead.
and as we transition into Claudia’s pov Daniel takes the journal closer to the magnolia tree in a shot where the branch is once again blurred in the foreground.

BLOODLINE PLAYERS: As was already discussed with you all, we’re hosting our first ever thread pair up. The idea behind this is that we’ve paired characters and players that may not have written a thread together before either IC or OOC. Our hope is that you will all use these pairings to jump start conversation, plot something you may not have before, and think outside the box of whatever our main plots are that are happening. Because we have so many players who play multiple characters, we’ve split the assignments into two rounds. That way, no one feels really bogged down with threads and plotting that they aren’t prepared to handle.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to characters OUTSIDE of these pairs if you need their help in a plot you think of. For example, if your character would interact with their assigned partner in a way that you think should be promoted by a request or suggestion from another player, go ahead and ask them to make it! The more the plots expand and grow is great.
And if you’re not sure what your characters could do together, why they’d hang out, or what they might need from each other, go ahead and hit me (JJ) up. I’ve made sure I have at least one suggestion for every pair as back up. With the round divide, no one (except me) should have more than one character involved at once. If you do, let me know. And everyone should have at least one character in pairing. If I missed you ALSO PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
The pairings for the first round of this pair up are:
Haven : Lou
Thierry : Mika
Lucio : Ana
Minni : Devon
Victoria: Monty
Ericka : Claudia

i dont think the park cruising scene necessarily involves armand even like if its 1946 that means louis and claudia just arrived in paris who knows if armand has even intro'd himself yet. it could just be louis exploring the more sexually liberated city on his own like jonah told him decades ago the whole reason why he went to europe.
yeah i said myself im unsure if its definitive yet that armand would be involved in the post ww2 euro swingers bench bc we dont rly have an understanding yet of how the show tl will handle the latter cour of iwtv exactly? cuz iirc book wise l+c didnt rly have a long time in europe b4 their interactions w santiago, armand+ the other vamps. i imagine why ppl went to this line of thinking is cuz in the only qotd chap ppl know of mand watches dan fuck other people n in the show s1 ep6 shows us louis + daniel meeting in the gay bar w armand as this shadowy figure suddenly emerging in dan’s dreams, cuing the viewer in further that rashid is not an ordinary guy. maybe ppl think the show would est. a precedent for a voyeuristic armand w louis & the five guys on the swinger’s bench? if the five guys do freak on lou fr can i audition?
