closed starter for @hudscart out by the lake
With the crisp weather now overtaking the town, Kat was even more eager to spend as much time as possible outside. After a few days of more intense outdoor activities, she'd organized to spend the day at a little bit slower of a pace. Having recently caught up with Aspen and Cat, it had only made sense for Kat to reach out to Hudson and get some time in with him as well. Lounging back against the chair she'd brought, Kat adjusted the fishing pole in front of her, before lazily letting her head tip towards Hudson. "You know, sometimes I don't even care if the fish bite or not. It's just nice being out here," she hummed happily. It was a calmer activity than she was usually engaged in, but just the mere fact of being out in nature was well worth it. "So, catch me up on all things Hudson. Anything new with my guy?"

Crossover Masterlist
I did threaten to do this so the natural next step was to go and organize a list of crossovers! I tried to stick to main ones/ones that have been developed a bit more but I’m happy to include anything else so!! If anyone isn’t on the list but wants to be included lmk (I was sticking with people who interacted with the original post, happy to include anyone who might have missed it), if I’ve missed any specific crossovers you want included lmk, or if there are any that you want me to take off the list, lmk that too!!

"Exactly! Silence is just the worst," Kat agreed. Out in nature was the only time she could appreciate it and even then she could only do it for so long. When she was at home hanging around, even alone there was something on in the background or music playing to drown out the lingering silence. "I'm lucky that I have so many people that lack boundaries and just show up or else I'd be suffering." It was a big part of why Kat stayed on the road so much with work, finding extra reasons to plan trips so she wasn't spending too many days cooped up in a quiet house. "Totally that loud though. Absolutely that loud." It had been the best part of her childhood, growing up with the Cartwrights next door. They'd always made it feel like she was part of something bigger than just her small little family. Tugging on her fishing rod, Kat was already bouncing eagerly, ready to get it pulled in. The patience side of fishing was anything but her strong suit, but listening to Hudson's advice, Kat let the fish work itself into being reeled in. With the line coming back up to the shore, Kat gave a withering look to the thing when she reeled in what had to be the tiniest fish she'd seen. "Oh, come the fuck on, it felt way bigger."
@hudscart
"I've practically lived with seven other people for the majority of my life. With Odessa around, I've never really known what it's like to be truly alone," Hudson teased with a lighthearted tone. "Even before Delilah moved in, it felt like Aspen and Lucas were perpetual guests, just popping in and crashing. As much as I appreciate moments of quiet, complete silence indoors feels like nails on a chalkboard." Giving her a playful sideways glance, Hudson shook his head in mock disapproval. "Okay, maybe we weren't that loud!" he quipped, fully aware it was a blatant lie. Their household was anything but serene, especially during their frequent squabbles. The Cartwright residence was always bustling with some sort of activity or commotion. Spotting Kat's fishing line starting to move, Hudson sprang up, heading over to offer assistance. "You've got this! Keep your focus and don't reel it in too fast. Let the fish tire itself out before bringing it in," he advised with a supportive tone. @katerinadelarosa

"Something like that," Kat agreed with a soft laugh. Most days she didn't know if it was the growth and opportunities to learn that stood out to her when it came to the more tumultuous times in life. For Kat, she just thrived in the chaos, craved the uncertainty of moments where nothing felt stable. Complacency and stability had never appealed to her, the boredom of it leaving her feeling like she was missing that spark in life that came from moments of higher stress. "Don't get me wrong, I love my alone time, but I don't know. Living alone just kind of sucks?" she shrugged. Kat had always been one to have roommates on and off over the years, just to keep noise and activity in the house. A pet was out of the question with her travel schedule, but a roommate at least was something she could always find. Whether it was Austin or another friend that needed a place to crash, Kat's doors were always open. "Real, though, she's probably stolen at least three bags worth of my socks over the years. She wears 'em and stretches them out with her big ass feet."
@hudscart
"Absolutely," Hudson agreed, nodding at Kat's words. Change often carried challenges, but it was those very challenges that made the journey worthwhile. He understood the sentiment of fighting for the best things in life. "I'm with you there. Sometimes, it's those unexpected storms that bring the most growth." He chuckled softly, relating to the constant ebb and flow of intensity in life. As Kat expressed missing having someone around, Hudson couldn't help but empathize, remembering moments of longing for companionship. And, just general missing of his sibling. "I get that. It's tough when you miss having someone close," he admitted, a faint smile forming. The humor in Kat's comment about the socks lightened the conversation, prompting a laugh. "Ah, the shared socks saga, she will always steal them. But remember, it's the little things that make us appreciate her presence, and occasionally wish for a bit more personal space."

Life was always going to throw new challenges at people, it was just a matter of learning how to adjust to them. In this case, especially, it was a change that had every possibility of being a very good thing for everyone involved. "Exactly. It'll be great. Challenging, but hey, the best things in life are worth fighting for." Her head bobbed agreeingly, Kat feeling the exact way about the calm before the storm concept. That was always how her life felt, preparing for whatever the next big wave of intensity was. Whether something in her personal life or something professionally, things rarely stayed dull for long. Head dropping down a bit with a laugh, Kat couldn't help the wide grin that stretched across her lips in response. "Oh, I can't picture it either, but it never hurts to dream. I just miss having her around is all." Kat's nose wrinkled a bit, letting the sappy moment linger for just a beat before she shoved it aside. "Though, one more time of me coming home to her wearing my comfy socks and I might have to kick her back out myself."
@hudscart
Hudson chuckled lightly at Kat's words, appreciating her humor amidst the conversation. "You've definitely got the cool aunt title down pat," he remarked with a smile. Kat's perspective on change resonated with him, especially when it came to Alana. "Absolutely, any change that keeps us closer is worth embracing," he agreed, thinking about the adjustments ahead. Her comment about not trusting calmness struck a chord with Hudson. "I get that. Sometimes the calm is just a prelude to the storm," he mused, understanding the feeling all too well. But still wanting it every now and then. Something Delilah always told him was that he was her calm. It wasn't something he knew how to take most of the time. Her mention of wanting Austin to have more reasons to return and stay longer brought a thoughtful expression to Hudson's face. "Yeah, it's something to consider," he responded, reflecting on the idea of creating more stability for his oldest sister. "I just don't know if that's something she's looking for right now. I have never really been able to picture her with a partner."

"I've been lucky, I've gotten a lot of practice at being the coolest aunt on the planet," Kat grinned. Between all the Cartwrights and Baileys and every other friend in between, she had enough kids in her life to have gotten plenty of time in the role. "Change is good. Especially if it gets you more time with Alana," she hummed with a soft nod. It would be a transition period, certainly, and that always came with its own set of obstacles to tackle, but Hudson seemed in a good headspace about it all, which could only be a good thing. "Way off. I don't trust it when things get too calm." If her life was too easy, Kat could only assume things were about to blow up in her face. The constant chaos was something familiar for her, something she could thrive in and navigate through. "We need to get our girl wife'd up, give her more of a reason to come back and stay for longer."
@hudscart
"Entertaining and reliable, that's the perfect combo," Hudson responded with a chuckle, appreciating Kat's enthusiasm for looking after his kid. He trusted her ability to keep things fun, especially for Alana amidst the changes. "Yeah, change is inevitable, and I hope it brings some good for all of us," he agreed, considering the adjustments that moving Delilah and Alana in might bring. Kat's comfort in chaos struck a chord with him. "I get that. Sometimes, too much peace can feel a bit off," he admitted, understanding her preference for a bit of excitement. Her sentiment about missing Austin resonated deeply. "I feel the same way. It's tough when she's away, even if it's temporary. I wish she was around more."

"It's the worst. I've never liked being alone like that. Give me my own space, yeah, but there's just something about having someone else in the house that's nice," she shrugged. Kat was independent enough to not have a problem with long stretches of time spent alone, but something about being completely alone living in a house was something she'd never taken to. "I blame my inability to live alone on how loud it was next door all the time growing up. Always felt like there were people in my house." Which, in some ways, wasn't a lie in the least. Even if she'd had a pretty quiet household on her end with it being just her and her mom most of the time, the Cartwrights had never been far. A louder laugh came forth, Kat's hands patting down at the ground she was sitting on. "I'm absolutely texting her to let her know I'm not the only one that thinks her feet are fucking -" Kat started to grin, letting go of her fishing pole for just a moment to grab her phone. Right then, the line started to take off, almost dragging the pole with it before Kat leaped forward to grab it. "We're getting some dinner tonight, Huddie, hell yeah."
@hudscart
"Honestly," Hudson chuckled, glancing at Kat with a grin. "Living solo is tougher than I ever imagined, especially after Delilah and Alana moved in." The realization hit him unexpectedly. He had been so accustomed to his solitary routines, but having his two favorite people around changed everything. His love for his way of life was undeniable, yet it paled in comparison to the joy of having his two girls by his side. Being on his own felt isolating, a stark contrast from his upbringing amidst five siblings and the bustling environment he once knew. Initially, he believed he managed fine by himself, but the truth was, it was tough. He found himself habitually leaving the TV on or playing podcasts just for the background noise. Amidst Kat's playful complaints, he couldn't help but chuckle. "For someone so petite, she sure has surprisingly large feet!" @katerinadelarosa

"Done deal, I can totally handle that. I'm very entertaining," she grinned, rubbing her hands together as if to hype herself up for the job. It was always an easy yes for her to put herself in the role of looking after the kids. Without kids of her own, being the fun aunt was always a task she appreciated. "Change is good sometimes and I'm sure this will be a change for the better for her. For all of you." Kat hoped that would be the case, at least. There was never anything guaranteed with a big change like that, but she hoped for Hudson's sake that everything went smoothly. "Exactly. The chaos is where I'm at my best. It's almost kind of concerning when life gets too relaxed," she admitted with a half shrug. As much as the down time was appreciated, Kat never lasted with it for long. If the chaos wasn't naturally there, she'd find a way to create it. "I hope so too. I miss her when she's gone. Even if it's just for a few months, I'll take what I can get."
@hudscart
Hudson was grateful for Kat's offer of support as he navigated the complexities of Delilah and Alana moving in. Her assurance lightened the load on his shoulders, and he expressed his gratitude with a smile as she squeezed his arm. "Thanks, Kat. It means a lot. Since you're so eager, I'm putting you in charge of keeping Alana entertained while we tackle the moving. She's excited about the move, but it's a big change for her too," he shared, recognizing the significance of this transition for his daughter. He nodded in agreement with Kat's sentiment about thriving in chaos, both sharing an understanding of the dynamic nature of their lives. "I get that. Chaos has a way of keeping things interesting," he said with a chuckle, appreciating the bonds he had with friends like Kat who embraced the unpredictability of life. In a softer tone, he added, "I just hope Austin sticks around for more than a while," voicing a concern about his sister's potential departure after just returning.

"I could never," Kat laughed again, leaning gently over into Hudson's nudge. The concept of being relaxed for any stretch of time was one that Kat could probably never get behind. A few hours of fishing she could handle, but much more than that without some level of excitement and she found herself getting entirely too bored. "Any time. I'm happy to help move shit or hang out keeping the kiddo busy. Whatever you guys need," she promised, reaching over to squeeze Hudson's arm a bit. It was a big deal, no doubt about that, so any support she could give, she was always willing. The Cartwrights were all like family to her and with her own family being as small as it was, she was glad for their presence in her life. "Honestly, I thrive on the chaos that she brings to the house. I've missed having her around anyway, so it's good having her home for however long she decides to grace us with her presence."
@hudscart
Hudson grinned at Kat's lighthearted comment about spiking her adrenaline, fully aware of her adventurous spirit. "Well, you know, some of us prefer a more relaxed approach to life," he teased, giving her a playful nudge. Her offer to help with the move-in didn't go unnoticed, and he appreciated the genuine gesture. "Thanks, Kat. I might take you up on that offer. Wrangling a five-year-old and coordinating everything with Delilah is turning out to be a logistical puzzle," he chuckled, the prospect of the move both exciting and daunting. As Kat shared her own updates, he listened attentively. "That all sounds amazing." He smiled softly. "Living with Austin is mostly easy, but it's definitely a lot," Hudson quipped, a shared understanding of the family's unique dynamics. "Are you excited to have a new roomie?"

For Kat, fishing was at most a once every few months thing, but it was an activity she didn't mind being a part of at all. It was an easy thing to get Hudson to agree to and that had been the real top concern of figuring out what to do with the day. "It's nice every so often, but my peace comes from spiking my adrenaline to the point that most people would be concerned," she grinned back, laughing warmly. To see Kat sitting still for any length of time was a minor miracle. Her head bobbed along as he went through some of the life updates, most of it standard fare. Her brows perked up with interest at the news of Delilah and Alana moving in, head shifting entirely in his direction. "Moving in, yeah? That's big news. If you need any help with getting them moved in, let me know," she offered, figuring he'd probably had plenty of his siblings already prying into the news. If she could just make the offer to be there if he needed it, that was enough for Kat. "Me, though, nothing that exciting. Travel, filming, working. Same old with me. The only cute kid I have moving in with me is Austin."
@hudscart
Hudson found solace in the tranquility of the waters as Kat joined him, the slower pace providing a much-needed break. Observing her adjust the fishing pole, a smile of contentment adorned her face. Her words echoed the sentiment of finding peace in the moment. "Why do you think I go fishing so often?" he quipped, sharing a knowing glance with her. As she inquired about his life, he chuckled, unraveling the tapestry of Cartwright chaos that defined his days. "The grandkids are keeping Mom on her toes, Dad has been loading me with more work lately, and having all the siblings back in town has made almost every night a busy one. Oh, and Delilah and Alana are officially moving in with me," he shared, blending excitement with a hint of nervousness. Eager to hear about Kat's life, he asked, "What about you?"
