closed starter for @atlaswilliams at the farmer's market
Trudging around at the farmer's market, Yas had collected a basket full of an odd assortment of things that she honestly didn't have a plan for. None of them really went together, but her mind was anywhere but on the food she was buying. Reaching over to grab a bundle of bananas, Yas heard a familiar little voice calling out her name. Immediately her heart sunk, eyes welling up almost immediately with hot tears. She couldn't just turn and flee, having long since resolved to never treat Maggie any differently, even if her relationship with Sage and Asher was currently non-existent. Steeling herself to have to face one of the two, Yas was mildly surprised when she spun and instead was met with the much more hulking form of Atlas. The sense of relief that at least she wouldn't have to face another run-in with Sage was palpable, a feeling that she certainly never would have expected herself to have when it came to Atlas. "Sorry - um. Hi," she mumbled, hand anxiously running through her hair. It didn't feel right to step forward to greet Maggie, her hand instead lifting in a small wave towards the girl.

Back from her first trip of the new year, Kat was looking a little worse for the wear than she normally would. A part of her had been tempted to call Atlas and back out of hanging out so she could rest, but after a valiant twenty minute attempt at relaxing she knew it wouldn’t last for long and ended up going down to the lake anyway. All of her archery equipment was in tow and she was starting to get things set up when she spotted Atlas coming her way. Turning a tired smile his way, Kat lifted her arm gingerly to wave him over. “Just getting stuff set up, impeccable timing,” she greeted, stepping back to take a look at the targets she was getting hung up around the area for them to shoot at. “Brought a few different bows for you to try, see which one works best for ya.”

Who knew if things might have been different if Sage had been the one to break the news to Asher or if things had come out in a more planned out scenario. Her head dipped towards her chest as Atlas mentioned it, sighing softly. "I didn't...exactly mean to. It just kind of..." Yas trailed off, making a motion with her hands away from her mouth, as if the words had been just word vomited out of her in the moment. Which, admittedly, wasn't far from the truth. She gave a grateful nod in his direction, a weird swirl of conflicting emotions battling inside of her head. There had been a time where she'd hated if not just the idea of Atlas, the man himself for the role he'd played in everything crumbling down between her and Sage. As much as she recognized that he held no blame, it had been easier to shift it to Atlas than to keep it on Sage in the years following the initial wave of drama. Crouching down as Atlas assured her that there was no qualm on his end with her greeting Maggie, Yas held a hand up for a high five, face shifting to a much happier one as she got on Maggie's level. "Your dad's a pretty cool dude, huh?" she chirped, eyes flashing up towards Atlas. "So, she uh...pretty much told you everything, huh?" It was a weird spot to be in, feeling like Atlas knew far more about her life than she did about his.

While he couldn't say he'd ever had his heart broken by Sage, he could say that he knew what it felt like to be in a complicated place. "In my defense, I thought she was going to be the one to mention it to Asher. That's what I told her to do, at least. Heard you beat her to the bunch." He chewed at the inside of his cheek, ignoring the gentle tugs at the collar of his shirt from a playful Maggie. "I'm sorry, by the way." He had assumed one thing and it seemed the reaction was another. In the end, the truth was better than holding onto a lie, even by omission. "Right. Thing or not, Maggie doesn't have to be a part of it. So, if you want to say hi," he assured, wanting to clarify that he took no issue in the woman wanting to greet his daughter or even spend time with her. If Sage did, that was on her time. "Doesn't have to be. Right now, at least."

closed starter for @atlaswilliams at the sinners and saints event ft. red 🔴
In any other circumstance, Yas might have been flattered by the man that was doggedly pursuing her throughout the evening. However, after a night spent with Sage and a weekend away at a cabin looming, the last thing she had any interest in was flirting with a stranger. As handsome as he was, she wasn't interested, a fact that she'd made abundantly clear the seven times he'd approached her. Each time he grew drunker, a little more persistent, and was now bordering on belligerent. Managing to step away from him again, Yas was over in a corner sipping a drink. When she felt a larger presence coming from behind her, her brain was screaming that it was the guy again and without even looking Yas had turned, her drink flying out of the glass in hand. A look of slight horror flashed in her eyes when she realized the red drink was now completely soaking Atlas. "Oh, no. You're not Dave from Albuquerque."

closed starter for @atlaswilliams at the vinyl countdown booth
There was something rather soothing about the process of flicking through old records that Yas had always loved. She was no big collector, but she liked to see what was there. Plus, they made great gifts for a few of the people in her life, and it never hurt to get started early on holiday gifts. Moving to the next stack, Yas hadn't been paying enough attention and found herself bumping into the back of another patron at the booth. "Sorry, I didn't - oh. Sorry, I guess." Her initial apology was cut short by a look of annoyance and, perhaps, anger when she saw that it was Atlas, any of the usual warmth in her eyes dissipating almost immediately.

location; a playground tagged; @atlaswilliams
One of the most rewarding parts of Yasemin’s job was being able to see the children she saved grow up. She had the afternoon away from work and had met up with a family she’d worked with just to catch up and see how they were doing. The young girl that had battled through a rough few years of cancer was as cheerful and excited as any kid Yas had seen. While the girl and her brother played at the playground, Yas had been sitting with the mom catching up and getting stories of how well life was going now. It was this type of afternoon that warmed her heart and kept her motivation to keep doing what she did there.
As they were packing up to leave, Yas heard the little patter of footsteps coming in hot in her direction, head shifting to see a familiar face barreling towards her. “Oh, goodness, hey there,” she greeted, stooping down to stop Maggie from continuing to run away from what she assumed was Sage. Steeling herself to have to face Sage, once again unexpectedly, she was met instead with a different sight - Atlas Williams. “Oh - um. Sorry, here, she’s um. I’m Sage’s - her um. I’m Asher’s best friend, so it’s um. I’ve babysat before, so uh.”

Lounging was not something that Kat did a lot of, but every so often it felt pretty damn good to kick back by the lake, toss her feet up, and just soak in the sun. She was sipping from a glass that was surreptitiously filled with booze, shades on and bathing suit cutting a killer figure. Lazily letting her head shift to the side, Kat offered a wide grin to her companion that was stretched out next to her. “You know. I hate relaxing, I think it’s shit, but this is...not as bad as I thought it would be,” she admitted. The beauty of the lake was that they could hop up and do activities at any point in time, but for the time being at least it was a good day to just vibe.

“Okay, there’s no way there’s anything down those hallways that’s even remotely going to spook me,” Kat snorted, shaking her head as she and Atlas walked over towards where the lines were building up to walk through the scare zones. Kat liked to think of herself as a reasonably fearless individual, so she couldn’t imagine anything a hotel could cook up for the night would be enough to freak her out. “I’ve seen way scarier shit in real life, this is child’s play. I’ll go with you if you need someone to get you through it, though,” she joked, looking up at him with a glint of a smile.

It would have been an absolute tragedy for Kat if she had spotted Atlas out moving around in the snow and didn’t do something about it. Despite being in line for food, the second she spotted the guy on his own walking through the snow she’d dipped out to go heckle him just a bit for the day. Stooping down, Kat balled up a nice sized bundle of snow, launching it across the field to smash right into Atlas. Getting low and behind a bush, Kat circled around, not waiting to see his response before she balled up a second one and tossed it his way from the opposite side of the field. This time, rather than ducking back away, she popped up laughing, waving from across the way at the man. “You looked a little too warm,” she yelled over as she started to cross the field in his direction.

As much as Kat found it utterly irritating that men just had it easier at car dealerships, she knew it was the case. The last time she’d tried buying a car on her own they’d tried to pull things over on her to a ridiculous degree, so this time she’d just caved on the matter and asked Atlas to come with her and take the lead. “I can almost guarantee that the price he’s going to quote you is at least a few thousand less than what he told me a few weeks ago,” Kat huffed as they pulled into the dealership. All she wanted was to trade her old car in and upgrade to a newer model, something that could tolerate a bit more of the offroading and stress that she was putting on her Range Rover. “You sweet talk him down enough for me and make sure he doesn’t try to add any extra bullshit and I’ll buy you anything you want for dinner. Drinks included.”

Since getting her new car, Kat had been out driving all around the area to test out the capabilities of it. Now that she knew what it could handle, Kat had invited Atlas out with her as a thank you for all of the help he’d given her throughout the process. She had a picnic basket packed with dinner and a six pack of beer and was driving through some rough offroad areas to get them up to the top of the nearby mountains. “Getting up here isn’t even hard anymore. She does all the work,” Kat grinned, patting at the steering wheel happily as they spun into a clearing and cut the engine. “Seriously appreciate you helping me out with everything. I’ve got dinner and some beers as a thank you.”

It had been entirely too long since Kat had been out to practice shooting her bow, so she’d packed everything up and made plans to go out to a spot she liked in the nearby woods for a few hours. Usually she would go alone, but this time she’d invited Atlas along just to hang out, have a few beers, and shoot at the targets. Much as she loved her alone time, right now it felt like any time spent on her own just led to her dwelling on her problems too much. “You know, I built these targets out here back when I was like sixteen probably,” Kat chuckled as they made it out to the little grove where she’d long ago put up a bunch of random targets she could shoot at when she was out there. Some were standard bullseye targets, others in the shapes of animals, and others still just goofy wooden cutouts of random things and people she knew. “I had one for a long time of our old principal that used to give me detention all the time, but sadly that one got destroyed awhile back.”

Dave had certainly deserved it, but Atlas didn't, meriting a still apologetic look out of Yas. "He did. It's too bad he wasn't on the receiving end," she agreed with a soft laugh. Eyes scanning down to the now red stain, Yas cringed, knowing it wouldn't exactly be an easy one to fix. Beyond that, he'd be walking around with the stain for the remainder of the evening unless he happened to have a backup shirt on him. "You know, if he happens to come back around, I wouldn't be opposed to a good shoulder check. You're definitely bigger than him, you'd send him to the ground." Yas would never actually take Atlas up on the offer, even if it was nice to imagine. "Another drink sounds great, though. Can I get you one as well to apologize? Maybe something not red?"

@atlaswilliams
Shirts were replaceable, even if it meant wearing a cherry stained shirt until he could make the effort of replacing it. "No need to apologize. Dave deserved it." He peered down at the stain and sucked in a breath of defeat. His luck was simple: he simply had none. Nodding, he side stepped to grab a few napkins from the dispenser to try and brush off some of the drink. It was a fruitless effort, but he tossed the used napkins anyway and kept a smile. "Sounds like he really sucks. You want me to rough him up a bit? I could give a good shoulder check. Unless you want to get another drink and save it for him?"

It would have been impossible to resist at least a small smile when her gaze landed over on Maggie. Even with the weight of all of the emotions she was still battling with, she would never deny the young girl a hello. Striding forward a bit, Yas knelt down to get on Maggie's level as she greeted her. Her eyes shifted up as Atlas spoke, a flush of red immediately starting to spread to her ears with embarrassment. She hadn't expected him to know, didn't realize that Sage was talking to other people about it now. "Oh," she mumbled in surprise, the word coming out before she had a moment to collect herself from the surprise. "It um - it's not...there's not um, it's not a thing." Her teeth bit down into her lower lip, an awkwardness now settled in her chest. "I'm sorry, this is just - you know. It's weird. And a lot."

Having been privy to a hike with Sage, he knew more than he should have. His advice had been given without hesitation, but with a warning that it was rare he knew the best thing to do in any given situation. Though, honesty did go a long way and clearly Asher had stumbled upon the truth anyway. Just years beyond the fact. The happy go lucky toddler at his side had screeched in excitement upon noticing the woman. It was a risky move to make, but he called out and stepped forward to appease her. "We just wanted to say hi," he assured through a toothy grin, gaze sweeping over Yas before falling down to the bouncing blonde at his side who was furiously waving and giggling in between. "I know about the thing," he added with a shrug, "and as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't have to be a thing. Not with me, at least."

When Asher was mad, the world knew it. It didn't surprise Yasemin in the least that Atlas had somehow been pulled into it, even just tangentially. "Yeah, she ah...she doesn't hide her feelings well. When she's mad, boy...she is mad," Yasemin chuckled, the fondness for her best friend coming out in her voice. It was one of the things she loved about Asher. You never had to guess where you stood with her, you just knew where her head was at. "That's fair. She deserves all the time she wants to be mad," Yas agreed, sighing softly. It wasn't easy being on bad terms with Asher, but Yas also understood it. "As long as she's able to get things fixed with Sage, that's...really what matters most. They need each other. Always will."

The Franklin temper was not to be toyed with, but it was better Yas than him, though he'd gotten a taste of it at the bar. "Trust me, I think I figured that out. I wasn't even a part of your mess and I somehow got a front row seat to her show." He'd stumbled in for a drink, but had ended up taking a seat next to a scorned woman. His mistake had been to think that he hadn't deserved the burn in the first place. Yas' question caused shoulders to lift and a look of uncertainty to pull on his features. He knew her, but not well enough to determine the anger that flooded her veins. "No clue. I know that she'll eventually come around, but I don't know when. I think if I were her, I'd just need a bit of time to be angry first. Once she's gone through the motions, then try again."

"Okay, you make a fair point. Hard to deny a woman when she's on a mission," she agreed with a bit of a laugh. Yas wasn't usually one to pop off and make a scene, but she had a fiery streak in her when she needed it. If someone did something that genuinely pissed her off she could be a sight to behold that was for sure. "I don't know about always, but...yeah, probably. Trust me, the collection isn't anything special," she admitted, not wanting to over-exaggerate the odds and ends of records that she'd gathered over the years. It wasn't something any real collectors would be impressed by, but it was enough for her. "That wouldn't be creepy at all to have staring at you, you're right. It's...a good album, though. You should go with it." The cover might have been questionable, but at least the music on it was worth bringing it back for. "I should probably go check out with this one. I'll...see you around."
Tumblr media
"Trust me, I've seen how fast a determined woman can move. Doesn't matter if fast or not, you'll catch me. No doubt about that." Joking or not, he knew better than to be the person who underestimated anyone. That was how arrogant people failed. If the time ever came, he at least wanted to know what he'd done. "Better not say that too loud, people might not like it." By comparison, The Beatles were far more iconic, at least, from the conversations he'd had. Of course, those people had never watched the 1985 film Teen Wolf either. "Are you always so humble? 'Cause you don't have to be. Especially about music." No, he took pride in his collection, one that he'd been building since he was a teenager. Aware of her question, the male stayed silent for a few moments longer as he thumbed through the stack, only pausing to pull out a record and flash it's cover in her direction. "Who doesn't want five dudes staring at you propped up on a shelf while you try and enjoy music?" The Out Of Our Heads record by The Rolling Stones was one he didn't have anyway.
