"Money," Diego replied, "I have a kid on the way, I need all I can get," he knew he would need to stop boxing at some point for his own safety and to be there for his kid but until another job came up, he needed this money.

                      it may be among the poorest of excuses mu qing has ever had to hear, and he’s had to hear this particular one a lot. it just is like that sometimes— as though any adversity thrown at you should just be accepted without a fight. it’s weak, and in this specific case, stupidly foolish. mu qing rolls his eyes in disapproval, his voice ringing with a similar form of disdain, “it obviously will be, if you sign yourself up for such juvenile matches. what’s the purpose of these games, again?”
