@whatsbehindthefacade / velma sent: i thought i knew what to do, but i don't.
most of the girls and jets don't come from good families. she can't name one of them that doesn't seem to have some problem in their home life. it's things like that keeping grazie awake at night. she can't always keep her girls safe. some nights she has tessie or baby john or one of the younger girls or jets sleeping in her bed while she took the floor. if she could keep them save even for one night, that was one night they were safe. velma feels responsible to take care of her younger brothers, but some days where she showed up more bruised than fair, she was tempted to beg her to stay the night at her place.
❝ hey you know my offer's always open to come to my place, right? bring your brothers with you. i've fit at least five kids in my apartment at once and we all slept comfortably. i can fit them. all of you. ❞ her apartment is cramped as it is, but graziella can't care about being comfortable when she knows her girls are getting hurt. they're in lot worse situations than she is. ❝ gonna keep you safe, that's what we gonna do. ❞ she reaches over to squeeze velma's hand. ❝ get the kids and come over. ❞

my url for the house rules for our muses, pick any muse of mine you've interacted with for it.
SEND ME A URL AND I’LL POST 10 HOUSE RULES THEIR MUSE AND MINE WOULD HAVE IF THEY LIVED TOGETHER ||Accepting|| @whiskeysmulti
Haru and Gokudera
As a safety precaution, anyone who is coming over for the first time, they have to be vetted first, as to make sure that they aren't going to be a danger. It came about because Haru has a trusting nature and she may very well make a friend with an enemy and be like, 'would you like to come over for some tea?' New people must be vetted first.
Absolutely do not stain the bedsheets or the rugs with blood. There is a tarp tucked away in the side closet to discard bloodied items onto before anyone can walk inside. Blood stains are a pain to get out, after all.
No smoking allowed inside, take that outside.
No indoor shoes inside. Wear inside slippers. The day she finds mud on the floors, she's making someone clean with a toothbrush.
No Lambo bullying allowed. Be nice!
Bianchi's cooking isn't allowed past the front door. Nothing can be done if it's food that Bianchi herself brought over or cooked while over. (It's a losing battle to tell Bianchi to leave her cooked food behind. She'll shove it down your throat)
Assuming Gokudera does a lot of dynamite maintenance, all of that dangerous mafia business has to be conducted in one room only. It should be locked if he's not in there. This is to ensure no one else can go in to tamper with anything and on the off chance her parents visit, she doesn't want to explain 'oh yeah Gokudera carries them around with him all the time'.
No loud fighting allowed after 8pm. Be considerate of neighbors. Whispered fighting is fine.
Unspoken rule: After a fight, there will always be a cuddling session, because it's nice to have a sense of validation that things are okay even after a fight no matter how big or small.
Unspoken rule: Can't leave without a goodbye hug/kiss from Haru. It's illegal. Wake her up, she doesn't care.
-
Trying my hand at Fiore and G [stopping at 5 bc this is harder than it seems!]
Any firearms should be properly stored away once inside to prevent anyone else from taking it and firing it. It's mostly a safety thing, especially for if kids are ever involved. Fiore won't risk the safety of children.
If you leave the home, leave a note stating where you'll be and with who if you're meeting someone. This is mostly to ensure that G can find Fiore if she's late. She's probably in trouble (again), or she got lost (again).
Unspoken rule: If working late into the night, the moment you hear crickets, off to bed with you.
At the dinning table, there is no place for work. Fiore really appreciates spending time with someone, like quality time. Eating together is a good time for that, so she disallows any work/business to be done while at the dinning table.
Home is not Daemon friendly, as i'm sure if they started living together it's post-betrayal. I feel like she wouldn't have been told the history behind what happened, so she's just told don't let this guy in for anything. Don't trust him.
#whiskeysmulti#Meme answered#Answered ask#Thanks for the ask!#Neo speaks#((This took me longer than I thought. Surprisingly a lil tricky to think through things kekw))

Celebrate International Women’s Day by reading a book by a woman scientist!
Our recommendation: Assistant Professor of Physics Jillian Scudder’s “curious journal through our cosmic family tree,” Astroquizzical; a “quirky guide to how things work in the universe.”
Scientists are more likely to publish research articles than monographs, of course. As indexed in the Web of Science, there are nearly 35 articles published in the past three years by Oberlin College scientists who identify as female. This is not an exhaustive list by any means, and it’s impressive to see the breadth of research.
Articles are listed after the break, arranged alphabetically by the last name of the first author; faculty names are show in bold font.
------ Publications by Oberlin College Women in Science 2018-2020: limited to current faculty/recent emerita in the departments of biology, chemistry and biochemistry, geology, neuroscience, physics and astronomy.

“Using the gifts I have doesn’t make me a cheater, it just makes me resourceful.”
A B O U T
Name: Charlotte Thompson Nickname: Lottie Hero Name: Paper Crane Age: Twenty Two Date & Place of Birth: October 1st, 1995 & Montreal, Canada Sexuality: Panromantic Asexual Pronouns: She/Her Faceclaim: Jodelle Ferland Alternate FCs: Isabelle Fuhrman, Samantha Boscarino Status: OPEN
M O R E
Major: Studio Art + Criminal Justice Minor Classification: Junior Occupation: Student & Office of Disabilities Coordinator Rank: Hero Support Power: Papyrokinesis Limitations: User cannot generate paper, only manipulate from current sources. As well, the paper still has the same limitations of normal paper (i.e. can be burned, water softens it, sharp objects can pass through it).
P E R S O N A L I T Y
+ patient, focused, creative - mischievous, insecure, perfectionist
B I O G R A P H Y
Unlike most other children, when Charlotte was born there wasn’t any loud crying. Instead, she was breathing very heavily and the lightest of cries could be heard. It turned out that Charlotte had a defect in her larynx that would render her mute. Thankfully, the Thompson’s loved to take on every challenge they could find so as soon as Scarlett had recovered from child birth, she and William began learning sign language and researching all of the best schools they could put Charlotte in that would be accommodating.
Making friends as a young child was difficult. Although her whole family and her teachers knew sign language, not many other kids did, aside from the handful that were also mute or were deaf. So, much of Charlotte’s time as a kid was spent creating her own ‘masterpieces’. It was during all of these creative sessions that her powers of papyrokinesis showed. As she’d been attempting to learn origami and having immense troubles, she thought of what she wanted the paper to look like and it began folding in that way. Her father was the only other member in her immediate family with the ability, though he only used it for party tricks at home.
When her older sister got married, Charlotte had used her powers to make a stunning ‘stop-motion’ video in honor of the couple. But seeing the video projected on the big screen made her realize that she could make more movies like this. As soon she was in high school, Charlotte began taking more writing and animation classes so she could perfect her art while making sure that she was subtle enough that no one outed her for her power. But this became very tedious and played on her nerves for some time. It felt like someone would discover the truth at any second, especially since she had submitted her videos to contests and won, gaining some very jealous and suspicious peers. So when the time came for college applications, she only sent one to Skybourne University. A family friend had told her all about it.
There, she could practice the full extent of her powers without worrying about someone discovering the truth. While she was at it, she also decided to minor in criminal justice to help keep her in shape. She doesn’t actually want to join the field of crime stopping but all of the training is fun, even if her teams usually come near last place in competition. Now in her junior year of college, she’s started working for the office of disabilities to make sure the school provides the services it needs to. In that sense, she sees herself as doing good for the school.
F A M I L Y
William Thompson (father - alive) Scarlett Thompson (mother - alive) Sophia Kendrick (older sister - alive) Andrew Kendrick (brother-in-law - alive) Rose Thompson (younger sister - alive)
C O N N E C T I O N S
Luca Bianchi: Charlotte really enjoys interacting with him because he’s one of the few people around Skybourne that can keep up with her signing so she doesn’t have to worry about typing out her words.
Timothy Hughes: They were paired together as hero and hero-support for a semester and it turned out horridly. Neither of them took it seriously so they just ended up goofing off.

Citron Kinase Deficiency Leads to Chromosomal Instability and TP53-Sensitive Microcephaly.
PubMed: Citron Kinase Deficiency Leads to Chromosomal Instability and TP53-Sensitive Microcephaly. Cell Rep. 2017 Feb 14;18(7):1674-1686 Authors: Bianchi FT, Tocco C, Pallavicini G, Liu Y, Vernì F, Merigliano C, Bonaccorsi S, El-Assawy N, Priano L, Gai M, Berto GE, Chiotto AM, Sgrò F, Caramello A, Tasca L, Ala U, Neri F, Oliviero S, Mauro A, Geley S, Gatti M, Di Cunto F Abstract Mutations in citron (CIT), leading to loss or inactivation of the citron kinase protein (CITK), cause primary microcephaly in humans and rodents, associated with cytokinesis failure and apoptosis in neural progenitors. We show that CITK loss induces DNA damage accumulation and chromosomal instability in both mammals and Drosophila. CITK-deficient cells display "spontaneous" DNA damage, increased sensitivity to ionizing radiation, and defective recovery from radiation-induced DNA lesions. In CITK-deficient cells, DNA double-strand breaks increase independently of cytokinesis failure. Recruitment of RAD51 to DNA damage foci is compromised by CITK loss, and CITK physically interacts with RAD51, suggesting an involvement of CITK in homologous recombination. Consistent with this scenario, in doubly CitK and Trp53 mutant mice, neural progenitor cell death is dramatically reduced; moreover, clinical and neuroanatomical phenotypes are remarkably improved. Our results underscore a crucial role of CIT in the maintenance of genomic integrity during brain development. PMID: 28199840 [PubMed - in process] http://dlvr.it/NP2SjH

@whatsbehindthefacade / riff sent: [ pepper ]
her wedding day isn't what she imagined. the shot gun, there's-a-baby-in-the-equation-we-should-get-married part of it seems about right for her. not that it's the only reason they've getting married. grazie's in love with riff and she's pretty sure he's the only person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. the fact that she spent the morning of her wedding day crouched over the toilet and mumbling curses to herself about being so stupid for getting knocked up like this, wasn't the image she had in mind when she was a little girl. the girls are under the assumption graziella's nerves were getting to her. she wasn't making today into a pregnancy announcement. nor was getting rushed to the courthouse because of a stupid idea to uphold an equally stupid tradition.
but the rest, the standing next to riff in her best dress, the gently intertwining their fingers together as they stood there, even the way she sloppily signed her name on the certificate, that was how she imagined it. despite stuffing her feet into her dancing shoes earlier that morning, graziella still had to get on the tips of her toes to reach riff's mouth to kiss him. there was applause around them, but she couldn't think of anything else except for riff.
she didn't expect the kisses peppering across each inch of her face as they step out of the courthouse. she smirks back up at her husband, squeezing his hand in return. he knows she can't reach him like that. he did that all on purpose.
❝ how does it feel to be married, mr. bianchi? ❞ smirk widens. as if she hadn't just signed herself away to be mrs. graziella hoffman for the rest of her life. ❝ you're the prettiest groom i've ever seen. ❞
#she really just gave herself away by trying to convince everyone that the reason she was throwing up was because she was nervous#sorry about that#i'm sure everyone now has a wager for when they'll actually reveal the pregnancy#interaction: g. bianchi#whatsbehindthefacade#pregnancy tw#vomit tw#vomiting tw#sickness tw

@heygutlcss cont.
despite trying to be serious, she can only go so long without cracking some kind of joke. the fact that she's sober through all this doesn't help either. any form of alcohol is the last thing she can afford right now. that doctor's appointment already scabbed her dry and that was only the beginning. grazie shrugs. ❝ maybe, but i’ve succeeded in getting it, didn’t i? i’m a lunatic, but a rewarded one. ❞
that gets a small laugh from her. ❝ you get slapped with a metal stick if you asked questions? if i was in that class and you asked what was in those paper bags, i would’a hit you before sister joanne morton had the chance. poor girls. ❞ tucking her hands into her pockets, grazie lets out a low whistle. ❝ wouldn’t’ve minded some jerk guy getting hit for being a prick and asking anyway. ’ she can think of a few former classmates she wouldn’t have minded having a stick knocked against their knuckles. ❝ yeah? why not? i wanna know what was in those bags. tampons or pads? or did your catholic school have that whole thing about tampons taking your virginity or whatever? ❞
grazie gives him hell every time he shows up with a new bruise or scar. this jet business has been getting more and more tiring as time goes on. when she was younger, it made her feel like it was protecting her from something. now, it's just stupid. ❝ everyone needs band aids, riff. you never know when your girlfriend’ll go up to you and tell you that you knocked her up and you burn your hand on the stove. ❞
there's already a cat in mind. the little tabby she found in the dumpster and she secretly nursed back to health for as long as he needed her. that cat was a lot easier than taking care of a human baby. when that tabby didn't need her anymore, grazie could open up the door and let him wander around as much as he wanted to. can't just do that with her own kid, despite what her mother did to her and her brother. ❝ nah. that's a stupid name. ❞ she wouldn't name that poor cat after the enemy creature. it would be as if they named this kid shark or emerald.
❝ i don't know what i'm gonna do. told you that. i just - ❞ she runs a hand through her hair ❝ - it seems wrong to just give them up like that. ❞ her parents didn't want her. who is graziella to continue the bianchi line like that? parents giving birth to kids they don't want and giving up on them. ❝ it's you and me? we're figuring this out together, right? ❞
#feel free to ignore this because i literally took three thousand years and i transferred it over to here because i was halfway done sjgkdj#look even johanna got him to talk and johanna is a prude victorian of course grazie was gonna be like this#i feel like they're not getting much done other than talk about period products cats and band aids. nice.#interaction: g. bianchi#heygutlcss#pregnancy tw#menstruation tw#periods tw

@heygutlcss / riff sent: [ bed ] - for receiver to push or pull sender back on the bed when they try to get up
springs creak and she squeezes her eyes closed. to her utter disappointment, she can feel sunshine shining in through the window. there's no reason morning has to come so early. especially since morning is the worst time of day. sleeping is a luxury graziella is so rarely awarded these days. it feels like everything's getting bad again. there's another kid who can't go home sleeping in her bed and she's waking up on the ground after an unrestful sleep. there's another kid banging on her door with news of another emergency ( karen did something stupid the night before, someone got sick and is need of ginger ale, etc. ). last night was just the two of them. no interruptions. nothing but the brief opportunity to catch a few more minutes of rest. why is he up?
barely keeping her eyelids open, she wraps her arms around riff's waist in a child-like attempt to keep him in bed. ❝ don't, ❞ she whines. ❝ come on, buddy boy, this is the one time . . . ❞ sleep nearly takes over again before graziella shoots her eyelids open again, just to make sure she doesn't fall back asleep. ❝ come on. too early for anythin'. go back to sleep. it's good for you. just lay down next to me, 'kay? ❞

HISTORY.
was obviously not a wanted child. money was already tight between her parents and her older brother, ricky. it was common for her parents to get into shouting matches at night, making them less than popular with their neighbors. to get away from this, ricky took her around town. her father eventually left when she was about six years old.
because of their financial problems, her mother sunk further into her alcoholism to the point she usually passed out on the floor. the responsibility of locking the door was placed on ricky's shoulders. he fell asleep early one night, leading to a juvenile gang to break in. grazie's screaming alerted a neighbor to call the police. she doesn't want to think about what would've happened if she hadn't.
what happened made ricky more paranoid. he allied himself with a juvenile gang to protect themselves. they became the first friends grazie really had. one of the members was her first kiss. one was her first time. one was her first relationship.
didn't care much for school. reading and writing was difficult for her, due to her undiagnosed dyslexia.
ricky was caught with a group of friends partaking in illegal substances. he wasn't doing any of it, but since he was caught around them, he was arrested. his choice was to either get shipped out to vietnam or go to prison. he chose the army. grazie still doesn't know that he was arrested and thinks he left according to his own will. letters were few and far between until they disappeared entirely. she doesn’t like to think about him.
without ricky around, their financial situation got worse. her mother had to move them to san juan hill. grazie cut everything off with ricky's gang. upon moving in, she find a new group of girls to hang out with, which lead her to meeting the jets.
she knew ricky had friends, mostly other italian immigrants that their daddy was friendly with, too. graziella didn't know that he'd asked one of the families -- the oscuro's -- to look after her once he was gone. they owned a bakery. they offered her a job which could only be described as an informal accountant. she managed the finances of the place.
after high school, grazie slowly and quietly started to move the few things she owned into an apartment she rented for herself. occasionally, she goes back to her mother's place to take some cash. she'll only use it to get drunk anyway. if her mother knew she moved out, she didn't say anything.
the jets are her safety net. they keep her safe and they won't abandon her.

MODERN. for any threads or muses set in the modern era.
HOLLYWOOD. one. after escaping from her home, graziella is spotted by a talent agent and leaves home for hollywood. one a visit back home to nyc, she meets the jets for the first time. two. grazie is discovered by a talent agent and seeing a better opportunity for herself while san juan hill is getting knocked down, she leaves for california. she visits riff and the jets as often as possible.
