Yes, we love to try out new restaurants.
Although, this was actually just The Cheecake Factory, but can't get enough of it.

so, I have a genuine question for americans:
I got in a “argument” with a person on the clock app bc she state the Saide Kane was black, and me as a Brazilian, viewed her as white
that’s Sadie’s description according to the books:
She has fair skin, deep blue eyes, a mischievous, lopsided smile, and caramel hair that she usually has bright colored streaks in
(her hair is also said to be straight, it could by design and not genetics, but the books never touch on that topic, so it is open to interpretation. and I don’t remember any other instance where other features are mentioned, like her nose or something similar)
and that’s Carter’s:
Carter is an African American teenager. He used to have short, curly brown hair, but it grew out messily as the series progressed, and brown eyes.
you see, here in Brazil we did not had and apartheid nor laws against interacial marriages, as well as having big immigratory groups from all over the world: were the country with the biggest population of Japanese, Italian and Lebanese people outside of their homeland
and as such, we view race differently from the way the US does, using the Kane siblings as an example: the siblings have a white mother and a black father, which I know would make them “mixed” in American views, but here in Brazil we would see the siblings as black (Carter) and white (Sadie), since that’s their phenotypes and that’s what will dictated how you’ll be perceived/treated in society
But what tricked me was when this person said that even with a white mom and having “white passability” Sadie was still black, not mixed or white
And my question is: how?
I would understand saying she’s mixed, since she does come from different ethnic backgrounds, but I can’t understand how a girl who’s described as white, to the point that people do not think her and her brother and father are related, and was raise by their white grandparents for the sole reason that’s she’s white (as far as i remember, the grandparents hated their father, and after the death of their mother decided to only keep and raise Sadie bc she looked like their daughter) to be viewed as solely black

Funger mod!Terry Jr is such a guy like
He has never loved someone he was allowed to. His current existance as a constant battle. He is not willing to risk loosing what he has, loosing his friends, loosing his family, loosing his lover, loosing his job, his house, his life, but he fights by just existing, by going through his daily life, by loving quietly and unashamedly. The quiet, subtle revolution of being happy in a world that wants him to die. It feels like every stranger hates him, but he's loved by everyone he's ever know. He will die alone in a silent bunker, poisoned by an unwilling godhood. If he'd lived just 6 more years, he would've seen the dismantlement of laws banning interacial marriages in his state, the first of their kind. If he'd lived just 6 more years, he could've actually, legally become a father to the child he loves like a daughter. His body is not buried nor cremated, but a kind stranger will close his eyes and wish him peace. He is alone. He is loved.
He's also eyeing up the younger man with an eye patch and a silk vest in a homosexual way

Random actually intelligent thought, but it really bothers me when people think they can separate a work from its author. You can absolutely take your own meaning, but be aware of the authors intent and biases.
A monsterfucker is not going to read The Terror Over Innsmouth in anyway similar to how HP Lovecraft intended, and its important to be aware of that

*rip* *tear* *destroys* anyone who ever hurt Radclyffe Hall.
I’m still in the middle of reading The Well of Loneliness and you cannot convince me that she isn’t Stephen Gordon. I’m sorry, but after reading into her life story her life is just far too similar to her character.
Sorry, I won’t be normal about this novel.
Wow, I’m glad I live now but history is important and it’s good to remember the people who came before you (especially if you’re in a group where your history is purposely hidden from you).

just a note to any students wondering why the hell they need to learn about the author of the books they read: it does actually matter. The opinions of an author inevitably color the meaning of their story.
my favorite example of this is H.P. Lovecraft. His stories of cosmic, eldritch horror are a staple of the genre and his creatures influence plenty of modern horror movies/stories. I honestly love his stories, but only because I actively choose to view them at face value as stories about literal eldritch monsters.
but for those who don't know, he was horrifically racist and literally the second you realize that all his stories of white protagonists being corrupted/terrorized by the "other" have a far more real and upsetting meaning.
So yeah. There are no flawless creators or creations and the best you can do is learn about them so you understand the intentions, but you don't have to agree with their views to derive your own meaning from it and enjoying it doesn't inherently make you a bad person.

Y'all know Love Languages were fucking made up by an Evangelical preacher that gave himself the title of "Marriage Counselor," within his church? Like he had a phD in adult education, but no qualifications to be giving the advice he gives. And as nice as they might sound on the surface, the shit in his books is often useless at best and harmful as fuck at worst. He actively discourages LGBT and interacial relationships, and blames "reverse racism" for most problems faced by white Christians.
Love Languages really aren't a thing, they're just things people like in a relationship. And Gary Chapman is a swindler and a fucking creep.

This is why we don't stop protesting until every single one of these rights is codified and until we get an ERA passed that covers all genders, sexes, sexualities, etc. This time, we cannot afford to stop marching, voting, writing to politicians and influential figures, donating, etc.
The GOP has gone too far, and we need to hamstring the party while most of the country is behind us. Not saying it will be easy or quick, but enough is enough. The consequences of giving up are catastrophic.
I also want to add that they are already going after trans people. They will absolutely go after them even more after they've been able to legally take away the bodily autonomy of everyone with a uterus.
