it wasn’t as if arvensis wasn’t privy to the hardships of castle life. granted, his tasks were much different than those that chanwoo experienced, but it didn’t mean that their lives were more or less difficult than the other. they didn’t have to sneak around for the most part; the two had been together from the beginning. with arvensis’s fate as shield to the crowned prince, he had to be around the other almost every single day. their rooms were across from one another, they ate meals together, and when they were kids, they bathed together. despite all of that, however, arvensis was raised with the notion that he was less than chanwoo, and he believed it to his core. his life was worth less than his prince. even though he believed it, arvensis fell in love. the knocking at the door behind him brings the smallest grin to his lips, thoughts of his unworthiness leaving. he turned in chanwoo’s arms, the taller wrapping his arms around his shoulders.

“well, look at you, prince…using your princely duties as an excuse.”

a quiet giggle slipped past his lips as he hugged the other closer so their bodies were pressed against each other. “hey, i tried! you know how panicky i can get...” he wrinkled his nose briefly before he smiled up at the taller male, stealing a few kisses from his loyal shield. he then gave arvensis a squeeze, “don’t call me that... you know i don’t like it when you call me a prince.” he always liked to see them as equals, they did grow up together after all. he saw himself as nothing more superior than the other. chanwoo cupped arvensis’ face, his thumb gently caressing his cheeks as he smiled. “all i want to do is give you a ton of hugs and kisses.” he gave arvie’s cheeks a squish, giggling at the sight.

“i can’t reach the top, arvie. you have to carry me.” the prince grinned as he ran and hopped on the shield’s back, arms and legs clinging onto his lover’s body. “i just need to put the little angel at the top and i can go take the gifts to put them under the tree.” he smiled, giving his lover’s cheek a nuzzle. “there’s lights that i wanna put, too! oh– and a special ornament that i got for you, my love.” it was something that instantly made the prince thought of his lover and he had to get it. “it just reminds me a lot about you.” –– @oriscri

chanwoo instantly yelped the moment he was lifted up, leaving him with a shy smile on his lips as he automatically wrapped his arms and legs around the other. he loved it whenever arvensis carried him like this and one could tell that the two of them definitely differed in size. he tucked his nose in the crook of his neck, leaving a trail of soft kisses from his neck to his jaw, then to his face where he kissed his forehead, cheeks, nose, chin and finally, his lips.
