My basement is chilly and I noticed the pastas' ambient temps were like. 70. And cranking their belly heat wasn't doing much. So I moved my radiator over right in front of them and Udon has taken it upon herself to shove all her subtrate against the glass and burrow into the pile so she can enjoy the Big Warm in her DIY hide. It is very cute.

Unfortunately this means she has jammed the door tracks with substrate and I am treated to a cascade of Repti-chip every time I open her enclosure.

I love to tell people about my mother and my childhood home cuz it all sounds made up. The rooms in my house were color coded and almost all illegally built, and poorly at that. There was the main house which was just three bedrooms and a bathroom and then there was: The red room, blue room, green room, purple room (later became the white room), the yellow room (also known as the art room). Most every room had random holes in the walls, the flooring was often just plywood. My mom painted a giant super mario on the walls of the green room and in that room where there usually would be a ceiling there was only insulation poorly nailed in and filled to the brim w spiderwebs and bugs and instead of just finishing the ceiling like a normal person my mom just put up one of those giant parachute things from gym class and it slowly filled with dead spiders over years but if you turned the light on the room would be filled with all the rainbow colors from the parachute . And also in this room were two arcade machines (time pilot 84 and puzzle bobble to be specific) and a pinball machine (little chief by Williams) that made loud noises and only worked if you hit them really hard and a lot. My dad got them for cheap off craigslist when he started to make money from working at the university. Also lots of spare Vespa parts to the scooters he would never repair. The red room was just an enclosed porch with concrete painted red it was virtually empty apart from an air hockey table, that moldy Homer Simpson animatronic I talked about before, and a long pole used to open the skylight cause the ceiling was absurdly high.
