Love Is Stored in the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie
On Lizzie & Ripred
The newest take Iām seeing right now, both in the TUC tags and on my ācontroversial TUC takesā post, is that Lizzieās relationship with Ripred is unfounded and that the inclusion of it ārobbedā us of a softer moment between Gregor and Ripred. I disagree with this take so much that I decided to write an entire essay about my thoughts on the subject. The most common argument I see against Lizzie is that she received Ripredās affection, as well as his tragic backstory, after being present for a very short period of time, while Gregor has known Ripred for months. At a surface level, this may seem counterintuitive, but when we dig deeper into the characters and their behaviors, motivations, and allegiances, the thematic significance of Lizzieās role in the story becomes apparent.
First and foremost, letās take a look at Gregor. I love this kid so much, but I do believe that the core of this argument hinges on his more subtle flaws as a character. Consider this: the entirety of The Underland Chronicles is narrated from Gregorās point-of-view. What does this mean for our perception of the story? We receive only the context that Gregor has, and we only receive the details that Gregor notices and finds important. Across the series, his understanding of the Underland and its denizens expands, grows, and solidifies. He is twelve by Code of Claw and very much still learning and growing, but some of beliefs have settled by this point.
This is where Ripred comes in. Gregor has more or less made up his mind about Ripred by the end of Curse of the Warmbloods. He wants to lead the Gnawers and will achieve that goal by any means necessary. Heās an ally, but probably not a friend, grumpy and abrasive and untouchable. Definitely not worthy of sympathy, because he can take care of himself. In short, Gregor doesnāt see Ripred as a multidimensional person, as someone with emotions outside of anger and self-importance.
In direct opposition, we have Lizzie. Upon first glance, she might seem inconsequential until Code of Claw, because her character arc is quiet and mostly happens off-screen. Sheās anxious about almost everything, and the Underland puts her through a lot of trauma in the earlier books without having ever set foot down there. It took her dad from her when she was only four years old, and when he returned years later, he was ill and severely traumatized. His absence and then his inability to work meant that she grew up in poverty, spending a large portion of her childhood food insecure and without a stable home life. Similarly, the Underland suddenly took Gregor, who by that point had undertaken a parental role in the household, and Boots away on more than one occasion. These traumas were then compounded on in Curse of the Warmbloods, first when her familyās apartment was swarmed by rats and then when Grace, the stable parent and breadwinner, contracted the plague and was unable to return home.
Lizzieās role in both Marks of Secret and Code of Claw directly opposes the effect that Gregorāand by direct extension, we as readersāexpects this trauma to have on her. Lizzie is afraid of almost everything, and the Underland has harmed her directly in the past. She should approach it with fear, maybe even hostility, like Gregor does in portions of the book. Lizzie is not Gregor, though, and her key trait as a character is that she is able to see the world as a whole through different eyes. So she chooses kindness, instead.
This is where the excerpt above comes in. Lizzie has never met Ripred personally at this point, and she really only knows anything about him from Gregorās storiesāwhich almost certainly donāt paint Ripred in the kindest light. Lizzie sees beyond the surface of these stories, though, and considers Ripred as an entire person, with depth and emotions. What she sees between the lines is up for individual interpretation. Maybe she latches onto Ripredās insistence that Gregor learn echolocation, a skill that might save her brotherās life. She does pester Gregor about practicing. Maybe she sees pieces of Gregor reflected in those stories about Ripred. A rager who doesnāt quite fit in where heās from or where heās fighting for, who can be stubborn and short-tempered and quick to hide his vulnerabilities from the people he considers himself responsible for. Maybe she sees pieces of herself reflected in those stories. Maybe, as someone who has lost pieces of her family, who has only one friend, who has likely eaten less than her share so that others could be full, she finds it easy to spot the humanity, for lack of a better word, in Ripred, like light through the crack under a locked door.
Whatever her reasonsāand maybe there are no reasons beyond āheās a person, tooāāLizzie goes out of her way to treat Ripred with kindness before she ever meets him. She sends some of her own food with Gregor so that Ripred doesnāt have to go completely hungry. She makes sure Gregor knows to share that plate of oatmeal raisin cookies with Ripred. Where Gregor rarely shows any gratefulness for his help and, in fact, rarely views him through a lens unclouded by a deeply ingrained bias against Gnawers, Lizzie is kind. Ripred notices.
This is not a matter of Ripred suddenly opening up to Lizzie for little reason after bonding with Gregor across the entire series. Ripred treats Lizzie differently because she acted differently. Their relationship is not built only on Lizzieās similarities to Silksharp, but on a history of compassion and respect. It isnāt shoehorned in, itās a necessary relationship that supports the central themes of The Underland Chroniclesāviolence, war, and colonialism are cyclical, but the refusal to continue living life based on the biases of the past can break that cycle and bring about a brighter future for everyone.
#you could say I have some thoughts on the subject idk#yes hello my name is Orion and I did write a thousand word essay on blorbos from my books#one of these days Iām gonna write about Hamnet and just never shut up lmao#formatting on mobile is a bitch and I did not do a solid proofread on this so sorry if something is a lil screwy#the underland chronicles#gregor the overlander

@mangosandchili aand last but not least, I think, Gyo.
š² What is the kindest thing your OC has ever done for someone? What is the kindest thing someone has ever done for them? On the flip side, what is the worst thing your OC has done to another person?
Mhmmmmm mhh I donāt think Gyo has ever EVER done something kind for somebody else for the sake of doing something kind for the other person, it has always just been collateral to him doing stuff for himself. So he saved those kids from slavery, but his impulse was less to save these children and more to preferably kill the slaver in some weird symbolical act of revenge. He might work for the empire and theoretically do a lot of good for them, but itās more for the sake of his own pride, for the admiration of the people and the image he wants to present, than it is to do good for the empire and itās people. He himself canāt classify if his dedicated protection of the prince is selfishness or devotion. He certainly does not lack kindness.. itās just never without himself gaining something from it too. Ā I think it might actually be him saving those children and then continuing too visit them, teach the older one. He would not need to do that, and heās mostly just doing it because he wishes someone had done the same for him when he was a child slave, but still, heās setting these children up for a better life. The kindest thing someone has done for him, itās probably a tie between his mentor freeing him from slavery and Priya staying by his side through everything. The worst thing is, uh, a question of definition, cause if the things are justified, in his eyes at least, are they really bad? I suppose killing his father and his first slave owner, quite slowly and brutally I might add, could be considered as the worst thing he has done to somebody else. They deserved it though.
š³ What does your OC do when they see others upset or in pain? An upset friend? A stranger?
I have literally never thought about this and it is really interesting. Cause it is not like he lacks empathy, he is not cruel for no reason. If he sees someone suffer, he will more often than not help, as long as it does not interfere with his own motives in any way. Itās his duty, in a way, keep people safe and all. Itās just not his main motivator. Heās not actually terrible at giving advise either, he has a pretty broad span of experiences, many of them unpleasant, he knows what suffering feels like, he has solutions for many things. He might not be super, uh, motherly about it, soft and cuddly, but he has compassion and he will help. But heās also completely capable of turning around and killing the very same person he just helped if he had a good enough reason to. He has very clear priorities.
šæ What is something true about your OC that they refuse to admit about themselves? Is there any reason to this besides embarrassment?
Heās just a big baby that wants to be loved. All of his actions are very much just results of him not having been loved as a child, as a teen, some years of his twenties, and heās BITTER about it. Full on: If these things have been done to me I have all the right to do everything I want. I was hurt and it will not happen again and if I have to hurt every single other person in return for that to happen then thatās how things will have to be. So he would admit that he is selfish now as a result of his pain, and that he has every right to be, but he would not admit that it is just because he isā¦ well basically butthurt about his bad experiences. He wouldnāt admit it to others, not freely, because he considers it a character flaw he does not want to show. In his eyes it is best to not reveal your motivations, your way of thinking, cause it lays bare some vulnerabilities, attack points, to foes.
š Describe a regular day for your OC. What is their schedule (if they have one). Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Different days have different schedules, but parts of it are usually either being on body guard detail for the prince, following them like a shadow for whatever activities they have planned, sometimes traveling with them, or duties surrounding the army and his regiment. Training, inspecting, meetings with court officials, planning, reportsā¦ Sometimes being sent on missions, since there is no war at the moment and fighting is rare, they are sometimes used to investigate rumors, crimes or otherwise volatile situations. Rarely there will be a monster sighting, and it is usually Gyo that is sent to deal with them, considering his power level.
š What is your OCās most traumatic experience? (If they donāt have just one traumatic experience either pick one or describe them all!)
Eehh I hate talking about this, his first slave owner was a pedophile that bought him from his parents so thereās several levels of awful right there, the betrayal, the sexual abuse.. like I said Gyo had any reason to gut everybody involved once he had the power to do so. Other traumas come from his parents generally being abusive, starving him, locking him away, having him work all day, being a slave for most of his childhood and adolescent life, and later his mentor trying to kill him, the one person that had been nice to him turning around to be just another person wanting to hurt him.
š How would your OC react to the death of a friend/family member/loved one? Is there anyone they can confide in?
Hm, heād feel hurt, lonely, heād consider it unfair, to have to experience something like this. He tries to prepare himself, for losing more of his loved ones, cause itās inevitable. With him being immortal it seems like itās happening much faster than in should, watching his son age, him being almost twice Gyoās physical age by now. It makes him feel quite hopeless, but he forces himself to think about it, to prepare, so it wonāt destroy him as much when it happens. He would not readily confide in anybody. If someone came to him and asked him about it he would not hide his pain, but it would require considerable trust in the other person, say the prince for example, to get him to share honestly.
š¾ What would your OC be like if they were evil. Or if theyāre already evil what would they be like as the good guy?
Heh. I donāt consider Gyo truly evil, I donāt consider him good either. Heās whatever he currently needs to be. With his selfishness Iād say heās more on the bad side, it just happens to be that the things that benefit him currently are generally considered morally good things. Evil Gyo would be him, but him not being satisfied anymore just with other people not being able to hurt him, heād develop hunger for more power, hunger for more control. Heād try and gain more power, not just to be powerful and protect himself, but to actively use it on others. I see him overtaking the empire himself. Good Gyo would.. I donāt know, it would be him, but actually truly working on bettering everybodyās lives, not just his own. It would also be him letting down his guards more, show more of his thoughts and feelings.
š How would your OC react to somebody telling them that they love them? (+ bonus give another characters/OC name!)
Indifferent is probably the most accurate answer to most people. For the prince it would be quiet enjoyment, just pride in being the person that gets to be loved by them. For his son and sister it would be.. painful in a way. Good, definitely, but it would make him think of all the time they have been distant, and how much more they could have been together if heād known that theyād enjoy his presence, that things would work out. For his granddaughter it is actual laughing, picking her up and spinning in a circle kind of joy. I donāt know what it is about her, she has him wrapped around her finger, his pride and joy. Maybe because he sees so much of himself in her, but in a good way, while it is bad in him.
š· What does your OC hate about themself? What lies about themself do they believe? On the flip side, What does your OC love about themself?
He does hate the bitterness. It is not a comfortable feeling to have. Wrath and revenge fuel him, they are literally the base of his power, his anchor, the thing that made it possible for him to generate so much power. Itās no coincidence that his sword is known for itās cruel owners, it was attracted by exactly this energy. And he does feel it gnaw away at his life and the connections he could have to other people if he didnāt choose to stay away for so many reasons. He just canāt help himself. He does not know how to heal these things that have happened to him, how to accept them, come to terms, and get over them. So he just hates instead, heās angry and jealous and hurt. He does not want to be, but he canāt let go. I donāt know if he believes too many lies. Sometimes he wants to believe in the empire propaganda, the honorable savior they make him out to be, he wants to see what the prince sees when they look at him, he just canāt cause he is so aware of this darkness he hides so well, they all have no idea who he really is, no wonder they can see something good. I suppose one lie he tends to believe in is what he was led to believe as a child, that he is nothing past his usefulness to others, and even that is disposable. Something that makes healing for him so difficult is probably that some of these things he wishes he could let go off are things he also loves about himself. He loves the strength it gives him, the tenacity, he loves being ruthless, it makes it able for him to do things he needs to do without regret. He feels superior this way, most of the time. He is absolutely, entirely in love with his abilities and what they allow him to do.
š„ What is something your OC blames themselves for and is it really their fault? Does it keep them up at night and is there any lingering trauma?
I guess somewhere in a way he must have thought, at some point, that it was somehow his fault, that people always just wanted to use and hurt him. Most other people got away better, so itās probably something about him.. He quickly managed to focus on blaming the perpetrators for what they have done to him, but sometimes he comes back to that thought, that it is in his nature, that he is inferior in some way, worthless maybe, that he did something wrong. His biggest regrets probably have to do with the relationship between him and his son. Itās another habit he finds no way out of, he knows what he could have done better, he just hasnāt been able to get himself to do these things because of a whole plethora of insecurities he has about being a father and failing.
šŗ In what situation would your OC be pushed to commit an act of violence? Would they go as far to kill someone if they had to? How would this affect them and their relationships with others?
Heh, basically always, it does not take a lot, heās always ready to kill if he has to, sometimes he enjoys it greatly. Itās his job, so that works out. I think the prince will definitely always try, if they are there, to keep Gyo from killing if it is not necessary, and Gyo will comply, but heād more often than not rather just kill. People like him for it more than hate him, he is their general, he keeps them safe. Violence, for the right reasons, is not a bad thing in the empire, culturally. Noor would try and change that, given the power. So thereās a little conflict potential maybe, Noor coming to terms with how readily Gyo kills, not only when it is necessary. They have always seen him as the person who kills for the sake of the empire, only for important reasons, regrettably, but necessary. They would have trouble with learning that Gyo more often than not just does not care about the life he takes.
šø What would your OC do if they were given god-like powers or the ability to change anything about the world for a whole day?
Hmm, I donāt know, nothing, really, it would seem a little useless to him, a day is nothing. He would actually greatly enjoy seeing his wife again, just spending some time together. On a bad day he might chose to be able to enact all the revenge he ever wanted to (not that he does not get these chances either way). If heās smart about it he might just try to learn things that will help him become more powerful.
š¼ Describe one of your OCās worst nightmares.
Noor dying. Failing to protect them. Seeing them die. Maybe having caused it somehow? Being exposed for who he really is on the inside, the people of the empire would quickly turn on him, consider him a monster. His son dying is on the list too, his son dying with hate for his father in his heart. Being powerless.
š» What advice would your OC give to their younger self? What advice does your OC need now?
I.. I donāt know. The thought of Gyo meeting his younger self is very painful. Iām not sure he could even look at himself, he just wants to forget about the person he was then, weak, used. Maybe heād try and tell him about how to fight, how to get stronger, that he will get out of this and he will get better and he will be loved even. Now? Maybe that he could just be the person people think he is, he does not have to play this role, he could actually truly become this person. He would just have to let go of the bad things of his past.

Hi Kana, do you mind doing all of them for Rika? :3
Sure Emi!! Will be glad to answer all of this!! Dont mind at all! ā”ā” It was really fun to answer because the questions are all interesting :00
Akira, Shigure and Yuri were mentioned!! STAN TALENT, STAN ZETA, STAN MY FRIEND!! GO FOLLOW @zetacomic !!
š² What is the kindest thing your OC has ever done for someone? What is the kindest thing someone has ever done for them? On the flip side, what is the worst thing your OC has done to another person?
If it was a kindest thing she did for somone, I think it would be taking care of them--- so this mostly goes for her children figures. I think taking care of them and giving them the best she could is the kindest gesture she ever did. The kindest thing done to her is probably making her believe in herself because that's what she lacks a lot, and reassuring her that she has done enough or more than enough!
The worst thing she has done to someone would probably me murder, considering she takes someone's whole life away and not giving a chance for redemption.
š³ What does your OC do when they see others upset or in pain? An upset friend? A stranger?
Her maternal instincts kick in. She tries to talk to them, but she will never force them to talk if they don't want to. She reminds them that she is there for them when they need someone to talk to, and she will definitely offer some hugs or little actions which may help. Those reactions are to her friends! To strangers, she usually tries to help in it by mere talking and trying to understand the person! She just never feels at ease when somebody is upset or in pain while she can't do anything IF the person isn't an enemy.
šæ What is something true about your OC that they refuse to admit about themselves? Is there any reason to this besides embarassment?
She refuses that she actually craves for things sometimes. She would always say she doesn't want anything but this could be a lie. She doesn't find it embarrassing, but instead, she finds it troublesome for the person who she would have said this too.
š Describe a regular day for your OC. What is their schedule (if they have one).
She gets up early in the morning to have a shower then makes breakfast! After breakfast and a small break, she often goes exercise or train. After, she'd cook lunch then do her paperwork. She has a lot of them, and she does get some work of the rest of the leaders so they could have more free time. Then she cooks again, eats and then do something for fun, usually little activities or the famiglia. Sometimes she may do paperwork or train though! She would shower again and then sleep after!
If it's a weekend, she's more free! She mostly loves going out to the mall or go for a stroll! Or bond other people! (They bond a lot already but still) She also loves practicing the piano/ukulele too. And every Sunday, she actually goes to church!
š How does your OC think they will die? Does death scare them? Is there any reason for this?
She thinks she will die by a gun. She won't be surprised if she does. She only expects to die by the mafia hand. She would love to die by old age, but she can't see it happening. Death doesn't exactly scare her, but she does fear people dying around her. She fears more about how people may cope to her death, considering how close she is to several people.
š What is your OCās most traumatic experience? (If they donāt have just one traumatic experience either pick one or describe them all!)
I'll only pick one because a lot go on spoiler territory. The most traumatic experience that I can mention is when her father reminds her about all she could have been but failed to reach. That kind of words really affected her mentality, and that's why she grew up with that kind of thinking. She sometimes has dreams of it too, and his harsh words will stay there for a long time. She just knows it.
š How would your OC react to the death of a friend/family member/loved one? Is there anyone they can confide in?
She would cry her heart out at first. She would end up not being able to hide it. She might end up in sleepless nights and it is easy to tell because her eyebags will be evident. However, after the initial sadness, she would choose to remain strong for them and realize that they wouldn't want her to remain like that forever. She ends up going through the 5 stages of grief sometimes actually, so there's that too.
Usually, she'd confide in Hiyaro. He's her big brother who's been with her for the longest time, so he knows how to handle her very well. Also Akira, because she trusts him that much and she feels free to show him majority of her feelings. Yuri and Ayame because she considers these two very close to her, and she feels they can handle it well. Shigure too, but she'd feel bad if they end up in a crying session together. Basically, the longer she's known you and if you are very close, the more likely she would confide with you.
š¾ What would your OC be like if they were evil. Or if theyāre already evil what would they be like as the good guy?
An interesting question! I never really thought about this before. But if she were evil, I'd want to take the concept of a boss who prioritizes power and money more than her own famiglia. Probably be a murderer of the rich, but would never consider so much factors unlike her canon self.
š How would your OC react to somebody telling them that they love them? (+ bonus give another characters/OC name!)
Well, if you're somebody she likes (Akira)- she would fluster red. She would be dying. She would wonder why they chose to love her. Like why her from all people? She wouldn't really know. She's going to end up frozen in place and take some time to process this. Probably mumble gibberish. To be honest, no matter who you are, she'll probably be silent for seconds to process it.
š· What does your OC hate about themself? What lies about themself do they believe? On the flip side, What does your OC love about themself?
She hates the fact that she has a lot of doubt in her own abilities. These thoughts can really make her do worse than usual if it comes to mind in the wrong time. She also makes herself think a person may be lying if they do compliment her sometimes. She normally believes the lie of she can't do better than several people. However, if there is one thing she loves about herself, it would be how people feel like they can depend on her! She loves that she finds herself as someone who can be good for advice!
š¹ Does your OC have any scars? How and when did they get them?
She does have scars! Majority of it came from a figure in the past, but some came from her father. They all came from childhood, and she is very concious about them. More will be revealed in the comic!
š„ What is something your OC blames themself for and is it really their fault? Does it keep them up at night and is there any lingering trauma?
One is a MAJOR spoiler so I have to pick another one. There is one spoiler, but I can discuss bits of it since it's not too major, but it's something to do with Ko. It's his current position and how she feels like because she convinced him to join, he's not able to bring out his potential and failed to reach what he truly wanted. Since she feels like his mother figure, it feels like she is a mother who is pulling her child away from their dreams for their selfish needs. It really is not her fault because it was his decision at the end (and he knew the ups and downs). It used to keep her up at night, but not anymore! Also there is no lingering trauma for this one.
šŗ In what situation would your OC be pushed to commit an act of violence? Would they go as far to kill someone if they had to? How would this affect them and their relationships with others?
The only thing that pushes her is when it is for the greater good + crimes that are too much to forgive in her eyes. But in a daily life basis, she would kick someone's ass or slap them across the face for any kind of harrassment to her or someone she is close to. For the first one I mentioned, yes. For the second one, no. But she will keep an eye on them. This doesn't affect her relationships in a negative way because she's in the mafia and well, it is normal. But sometimes, she does worry if she did the right thing. However with others, she usually earns respect when she does kill somebody. She would never kill for no reason, after all.
šø What would your OC do if they were given god-like powers or the ability to change anything about the world for a whole day?
She would definitely go for world peace. Having no crime or fights, and having everybody safe is something she would want. She wants the world to be a safer place, after all. Sad it's just for a day though.
š¼ Describe one of your OCās worst nightmares.
Seeing the people who are close to her dying because that's what she is trying to avoid most and if that happens, it just proves that her father was right about her being too weak. She wants to stop death in any way she can and she would prefer to die before anyone close to her does.
š» What advice would your OC give to their younger self? What advice does your OC need now?
She would tell her younger self that she will get to find people who will love her, so she still has to stay strong even if she feels like that's something which is impossible. What she needs now is that she should know that she has done enough and she makes the people around her proud and they are happy to have her around. She would cry if you say that all in one go, honestly.

The Sun represents vitality, a sense of individuality and outward-shining creative energy.
Sun in Virgo
It is rare to find the stereotypical nitpicky, exacting, "clean freak" in modern-day Virgos. Although the sign of Virgo has evolved with the times, there are some unmistakable traits that remain. Virgo people are generally respectable, hard-working individuals who have a love of knowledge and know-how.
Virgo's symbol, the Virgin, shows itself in the lives of Virgos through a love of all that is "natural" and a certain purity of spirit that keeps Virgos self-sufficient and self-contained, at least on the surface. Virgos are sensitive to their surroundings, and they tend to embarrass easily. They are generally reticent when faced with anything or anyone new. However, once they feel comfortable, they can talk up a storm. Many Virgo Suns are not too comfortable in the limelight. These types are just fine living in the background, as long as they feel useful and appreciated. Solar Virgos have a strong sense of responsibility. Even when they've convinced themselves to be irresponsible about something or the other, they worry about it.
Not all Virgos are workaholics. However, when Solar Virgos are not involved in some kind of project, there is generally a vague feeling of discontent. Even when their lives are filled up with work, they are restless and somewhat nervous creatures. The fear of under-performing is often strong. Virgos want to do things well. Some are exacting and thorough, and those Virgos who have convinced themselves to do a less-than-perfect job will generally feel incomplete. There's an odd combination of the intellectual and the practical in Virgo that is sometimes mistaken for coolness. In fact, Virgos are often self-effacing and shy. They'll brush off your compliments quickly and, sometimes, critically; but don't let that fool you. They need your respect and appreciation. In fact, the happiest Virgos are the ones who feel appreciated and useful. Add plenty of worthwhile projects to keep them busy, and Virgos can be some of the sweetest, kindest people around.
Keywords: analytical, intelligent, reserved, critical, helpful, conscientious.
Sun in X
The urge to work toward a goal, for success and accomplishment, and/or for power is part of your make-up. You are uncomfortable in any position in which you must "take orders" from someone else. Recognize your ambitions and your need for authority without going overboard. Seek out a career that allows you to manage, rather than be managed, if possible. It is crucial that you accept the part of you that is ambitious, but take pains not to over-identify with an image that is not really you! Successful career is guaranteed, but may sometimes come late.
770 Conjunction Sun - Mercury
Because your ego and your mind are aligned, you possess much mental energy. You are always in a position to think about what you want, and in many ways, this is an interruption of the will. You are highly intelligent with a great drive to communicate with other. You invest a lot of pride in your intellectual capacities. You may not always listen as well as you speak, however! You might be too busy thinking about what to say next. But you are very curious and although you enjoy expressing yourself, you usually don't dominate conversations completely. As far as studying or learning goes, you are better off reading the material than listening to a teacher. These traits come from a strong need to take an active role in communications. It is very hard for you to passively listen and absorb information.
Your opinions are usually strong and you are an independent thinker. You tend to be proud of your opinions and thoughts, and might easily get a bruised ego if you are not "heard", if your opinions are pushed aside or ignored, or if your opinions are criticized. You are expressive and possibly a very animated speaker. You are also very witty and others enjoy your playful and sometimes mischievous sense of humor.
176 Sextile Sun - Mars
You are enterprising and have powerful stores of energy that you can draw upon when needed. You respond to problems or challenges with a spirited and enthusiastic confidence that is admirable. You are naturally competitive, and this trait is generally well-received by others simply because it is unforced, unaffected, and sincere. You truly believe in fair play, and you seem to be in love with life. When you are expressing competitiveness and courage, it's easy for others to smile and accept these traits as positive ones rather than being rubbed the wrong way. You have good physical vitality. Although competitive, you are not naturally combative. You may enjoy sports or games that are competitive, but not violent. Breaking the rules of a competitive game is particularly upsetting to you. You are more able than most to control your desires, aggressions, and instincts. You know how to be fair, and you expect others to be fair. As such, sneaky behaviors, uncontrolled impulses, violence, and rage are offensive to you.
-40 Square Sun - Pluto
You may be prone to inner tension and negative, self-destructive behavior. When things are going well, you suffer from fears that something will come along to change that. At times, you can be intensely dissatisfied with your personal accomplishments and expressions of self. You put a lot of pressure on yourself regarding your own endeavors. You can be quite dissatisfied with your creative self-expressions, and want to hide your expressions from others until you feel the output is "right". This is largely due to a perceived inability to express or reveal your true personality to others. You struggle with a deep need to control yourself and life itself. You are especially sensitive to criticism, and feel the need to "redo" yourself often. There is a marked fear of losing control, and this might stem from some traumatic event in childhood, or the childhood might have been crisis-ridden or emotionally-charged in general. As such, you can be intensely fearful of, or threatened by, change. This can express itself through attempts to control your life in such a way that you can manage your fears of being taken off guard. Of course, this generally backfires! You have an intense need for privacy at times.

Over time, imbalance in their relationship is sure to make them unhappy, and when it comes to this, they may try to even the score in subtle, roundabout ways.
