EXPRESSIONS USED TO TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE 🤔What else apart from future and present tenses can we use to talk about the future? 👉There are a few expressions that are worth mentioning: 1️⃣ BE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING You use it when something is going to happen very soon. Hi there! I've got another idiom for you today - one more from 👉Breaking Bad ;) In the last episode of the 3rd season there is a conversation between Gustavo and Gale. Gustavo comes to tell Gale that he has to learn to cook meth quickly because Walter won't be able to do it any longer soon. What Gustavo says is more or less this: 'Cause when push comes to shove, you will have to replace Walter' And then Gale asks: 'Why would push come to shove?' This is exactly the IDIOM I wanted to tell you more about today. WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE Basically, it means 'when there is no other choice' - jeśli zajdzie taka konieczność But when push comes to shove, you'll do your job. Ale jeśli zajdzie taka konieczność, zrobisz to co do ciebie należy. It can also mean 'WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT' (kiedy przyjdzie co do czego) When push comes to shove, it's women who make sacrifices for kids. Kiedy przychodzi co do czego, to kobiety poświęcają najwięcej dla dzieci. SHOVE means 'push very roughly': He shoved me towards the door. Popchnął mnie w stronę domu. PUSHING AND SHOVING is also idiomatic and it means 'the activity of pushing roughly' (przepychanki) There was a lot of pushing and shoving during the demonstration. Było sporo przepychanek w trakcie demonstracji. There is also a vulgar meaning to SHOVE ;) If you say 'SHOVE IT!' you mean that you will not do or use something (wsadź sobie, spadaj z czymś) Take your advice and shove it!
