chuuya x pm!reader —ᡣ𐭩 fic w/c: 0.9k c/w: chuuya calls reader 'doll', guns & murder (ur literally a sniper) a/n: this was gonna be a lot more angsty, but I wanted some cutesy gross relationship shit, so here u go, my babies. enjoy!!
Zooming in your scope, your eye is trained on a familiar redhead. You watch as he tries to talk his way out of an infiltration mission that had gone awry 10 minutes earlier, and with you as the Port Mafia's sniper, it's your job to ensure Chuuya gets out of there unharmed.
The earpiece lodged in your ear fizzles a string of words you can barely focus on, but you press it and talk anyway.
"Yes, Aktuagawa is on the roof," you mumble, lifting your head to confirm the questions streaming through your ear. Squinting into the setting sun, you see the younger boy walking along the edge of the building, hoping to get a better angle to attack. "Will take my shot. Over."
As you try to get comfortable, the leather of your vest and pants drag along the concrete roof you lay on. Steadying your breath, you aim for the head of the mastermind behind the organisation that had been killing ability-users for sport.
Now, you hold your breath and squeeze the trigger. There's no sound, but your hurried exhales, and you begin packing your gear instantly. There's no need to look to confirm your kill.
"—inside is clear—"
"—building empty, return to headquarters—"
The silence is deafening. The subtle ringing in your ear punctuates as such. A sudden crackle through your earpiece startles you as you descend the 38 flights of stairs to the street.
"You could've aimed a little more to the right. I got rat blood on me."
You shake your head. "Be grateful you're alive."
Chuuya scoffs, and you imagine him rolling his eyes. "He was an easy target; I would've easily taken him out."
"Just meet me downstairs, please," you sigh, adjusting the strap of your bag on your shoulder. The stairwell is humid, and you're starting to sweat under all the leather you sport.
"Yes, ma'am."
You twist the device from your ear and shove it in your pocket.
Emerging from the building, you're hit with a gust of cool night air, the feeling both relieving and chilling. You squint into the darkness. The door behind you slams, and you jump, tripping over your foot and falling to the ground. You put your hand out to stop yourself and brace for the impact.
Except you don't make it to the dirt and are, instead, held mid-air by a familiar force. You roll your eyes when the commander of said force appears before you in the shape of a five-foot-something redhead.
"Careful, doll, don't need you breaking your trigger finger."
You give Chuuya a deadpan look, still surrounded by a red aura. He stalks toward you, the hem of his coat flapping in the wind. You look at him through your lashes and wish he'd let you fall—he gazes at you so intently that if he weren't Chuuya, you'd have punched him by now.
You feel yourself move upwards and stumble once you're on your feet again. Chuuya walks ahead, but his hand hovers behind him slightly.
"Well..." you say, grasping his fingers. You walk toward the PM car, which is parked in the distance.
Chuuya gives you a side look. "Well, what?"
"Well," you say. "Make yourself useful and kiss me."
Chuuya's eyebrows fly up and he stops. "Useful? I just saved your ass from—"
You drop your bag and cover his cheek, smiling as your lips meet his. It's messy, and you swear you felt his teeth nip your bottom lip by accident, but it's nice. Chuuya's fingers tickle the sides of your neck, and he mumbles something incoherent.
You pull back an inch and peck his lips once more when he chases after you. "What?"
Chuuya sighs and leans his forehead against your shoulder, his hands moving to your waist. "Thanks for getting me outta there."
You laugh softly, burying your hands in his hair, moving his hat onto your head so it doesn't fall on the ground. He doesn't thank people often; he doesn't need to with his hatred of initially putting himself in that position and his constant obligation to save everyone.
You don't need his thanks; you never have, but you just kiss his cheek and reassure him. "Always."
Chuuya turns his head, and you feel him press delicate kisses on your neck. He trails his lips to your earlobe before laughing lowly in your ear, squeezing your sides.
You put your hands on his cheeks and pull him out of your neck. His face is squished between your palms, and you stop yourself from kissing him silly. Chuuya wraps his hands around your wrists, his thumbs rubbing soothing circles on your pulse points. His blue eyes stare into yours, and the butterflies in your stomach refuse to settle.
“You can stop staring now,” Chuuya mumbles, his cheeks blooming red. He'd blame it on the breeze if you tease him about it.
You shake your head, smiling bashfully. “No, you look pretty."
"Oh, please," Chuuya scoffs, eyes sweeping the building behind you. The subordinates deemed the perimeter clear before, but Chuuya scowls at the place anyway. "Let's go."
Sighing, you pluck his hat off your head and put it back on his. "Lead the way, pretty boy."
Chuuya begrudgingly fixes his hat and swings your bag onto his shoulder. "Only if you stop calling me that."
You tsk, wrapping your arms around his middle. "Can't deny what's true."
Grumbling, Chuuya throws his arm over your shoulder and draws you into his side. "Whatever."

”sing me a lullaby” was so beautiful and well written but it destroyed me!!! Pls can we have something happier now??😭😭
Wake me up (sequel to Sing me a Lullaby)
Tim Bradford x reader
Warnings/Tags: Angst, fluff, hurt, comfort, near death experience
Word count: 1.418
Authors note: cough, cough... I'm a monster, I know. But to make up for it, here's the sequel/part 2 for Sing me a Lullaby. You can just read Sing me a Lullaby as a standalone, or take the happy ending down here.
To be honest I wanted a happy ending for it... so I made one... guilty. I'm a little sick at the moment, so I need something happy, too.
Anyways, Enjoy!
Ears ringing, your brows twitched.
You felt like you'd just been hit by a bus. Your muscles felt sore, like they hadn't been used in ages.
Maybe that was the truth, the reason as to why your body felt like shit.
As you tried to open your eyes, you were blinded, instantly closing them again as you groaned.
A chair moved, it scraped over the floor, unpleasantly ringing in your ears. Flinching, you tried to open your eyes again, as you heard your name being called somewhere far away.
What the hell was going on?
As you finally were able to open your eyes, blinking rapidly to get used to the lights around you, someone sighed.
Swallowing, you felt how dry your throat was.
Breathing in deeply, you felt something stitch in your lungs as you did so, making you flinch. Grinding your teeth, you tried to look around you.
The light slowly became more bearable, as you were able to make out silhouettes.
You were at a hospital.
Your fingers felt numb as you tried to move them, your gaze wandering to your right, where you spotted a familiar face.
Tim was looking down at you, worry etched into every single one of his features. But he seemed relieved as well, eyes glistening.
Your eyes stung, as they filled with tears as well.
You couldn't place why you were at the hospital yet, but you were happy to see him.
"Finally." he mumbled, as you licked over your dry lips. You wanted to respond, but when you tried to speak, you began to caugh.
Grabbing the glass of water that was sitting on your bedside table, he moved your bed into a more upright position, before he held the glass to your lips so you could drink.
The cold water felt heavenly against your sore throat, as you eagerly gulped it down.
When the glass was empty, he removed it, setting it back aside.
"How are you feeling?" he wanted to know, brows furrowed in worry. "Like I just died three times in a row." you tried to lighten the mood, but his mouth twitched at your words.
"It were two times." he gave back, gaze unwavering. When he not even chuckled after a few seconds of waiting, you realized he wasn't joking.
Your face fell, the realization sending shivers down your spine.
"What?" you asked, shocked. Suddenly, you felt cold. "Do you remember what happened?" he wanted to know and you shook your head in response.
His gaze fell on the bedsheets, as he breathed in deeply.
"We went to arrest a drug dealer, but they were already waiting for us." he started to explain, his head tilting as he relived the moment. "When we thought that we had gotten them all, a sniper got you."
Closing your eyes, the memories suddenly came back.
"Your face was full of blood." you spoke, swallowing. "I remember how you tried to keep me awake, b-before-" Tears made their way out of your eyes, as you realized, that you had almost died.
Or at least that they were able to bring you back.
"You asked me to sing Lullabye." he reminded you, clearing his throat, as tears filled his eyes. "I thought that I had lost you. I wasn't able to find a pulse, you couldn't breathe- I-I thought you were dead."
A tear managed to spill, and he wiped it away angrily.
"They had you in there for so long, that I was about to get in there and see what takes them so long to stitch you back up." he continued, looking up, as your hand took his carefully.
"You had lost a lot of blood, they said that your lung was perforated. It was a miracle how you even made it to the hospital. They lost you two times, but they managed to bring you back."
He looked like he hadn't slept in days, nor properly eaten. His cheeks were sunken in, his beard not having been shaved.
"You look like shit." you told him and he rose a brow, huffing. "You're not looking any better." he gave back. His own words caused him to crack a smile.
Finally.
"How long was I out?" you wanted to know, trying to orientate at the length of his beard.
He hesitated and your eyes widened slightly, not sure if you wanted to hear it anymore. Only then you noticed the flowers that were arranged all over the room.
"Two weeks." he then said, and your gaze snapped back to him. His eyes were fixed on your joined hands.
Swallowing you nodded. "Makes sense, given the circumstances." you spoke, biting your cheek.
"There were... complications." he added, shaking his head as his gaze found its way back to yours. "Your lung collapsed, scared the living shit out of everyone."
Huffing, you sat more upright.
At least his beard didn't look like a two week beard.
"I'm sorry." you apologized, swallowing. It still felt like needles poked your lungs whenever you breathed, but you would get over it.
"What for?" he gave back, confusion lacing his voice. "This wasn't your fault. Had I looked better, I would have noticed."
Shaking your head you sqeezed his hand, trying to stop another wave of tears. "No, Tim. It wasn't your fault. Not even Harper saw the sniper, and I didn't see him as well. He must have had a good hiding spot - too good."
"But-" he wanted to argue, body jerking forward in his seat. "No, Tim!" you cut him off. "Not even you would have seen him, I'm sure of it! So stop blaming yourself. Yes, I almost died, but that's the risk we take every single day. I can be lucky that I survived. Others don't have that much luck."
He fell silent, as he angrily wiped at his eyes.
"It's funny, cause Lucy said the same thing, after she was buried alive." he quietly told you, as your eyes met. "And I told her that it was the first day of the rest of her life. And that applies to you as well."
Sending him a reassuring smile, you nodded. "And no one can take that away from me."
He nodded in return, before he scooted a little closer.
Looking down at the bed you decided it was big enough for two.
Doing your best not to rip off the cables coming from you, you scooted over, beckoning him to join you in bed.
"Y/N, I can't." he told you, brows narrowed in worry as he shook his head. Sending him a pointed look, you made clear not to argue with you.
Huffing, he did as he was told. With the greatest carefulness he could muster, he lay down beside you.
Sighing happily, you breathed his familiar scent, head resting on his chest as best as you could.
His lips kissed the top of your head, as he sighed heavily, fingers circling on your arm.
"I don't know what I would do without you." he told you quietly, swallowing.
Smiling bitterly you placed a kiss on his cheek. "Did you sleep at all?" you wanted to know, worried. Shaking his head he leaned forward, his lips meeting yours.
You returned the kiss, before your lips parted. "Barely."
Sighing, your head rested back on his chest. "I love you, Tim." you spoke, drawing circles on his shirt clad chest. "I love you too, Y/N."
Swallowing, you snuggled more into his chest.
"Goodbye my angel, time to close your eyes." you hesitantly began, slowly finding your way back to the song of your childhood.
"And save these questions for another day. I think I know what you've been asking me, I think you know what I've been trying to say."
You weren't sure if he would accept Lullabye after what happened, but it was like a healing process for you as well.
You needed it.
"I promised I would never leave you, and you should always know, wherever you may go, no matter where you are, I will never be very far."
Looking up, you saw his eyes closed, face relaxed, causing you to smile.
"Good night my angel, now it's time to sleep, and still so many things I want to say, remember all the songs you sang for me, when went sailing on an emerald bay."
Closing your eyes as well, you sighed, feeling better.
"And like a boat out on the ocean, I'm rocking you to sleep."

Pro Heroes at the Olympic Games
Well, it's been another three years and another Summer Games has rolled around. Only seems fair I'd try again with a post about what heroes would belong in what games. This can be based on anything from powers to skills to whatever I think would be the funniest to see.
Kamui Woods-Archery: I just think it'd be really cool for Kamui Woods to make a bow and arrow from his wooden body. I don't need any more reason than that.
Midnight-Rhythmic Gymnastics: I mean, a whip is pretty close to a ribbon. And it's not like the outfit she has to wear is that much different from her hero costume.
Sir Nighteye-Golf: Sir Nighteye seems like the kind of guy that would be into golfing. That's it. I just thought it'd be fitting for the guy that looks and dresses like a stoic businessman.
Hound Dog-Handball: This is a sport all about catching and throwing a ball around and keeping it away from another team. Naturally, this should be no problem for the man who is part dog.
Beast Jeanist-Diving: The need for precision and elegance would, in this event, fit great with someone like Best Jeanist. That and it's the sport with the least amount of clothing for him to cheat with.
Mount Lady-Sports Climbing: She's got mountain in her name. Of course that means she's good at climbing. Oh, who am I kidding? She'll just turn giant-sized and reach the top instantly.
Snipe-Shooting: Considering all of his shots are guaranteed hits, I would want to see how disrespectful Sniper would get with this. Like doing it with his eyes closed or even shooting other people's targets.
Miruko-Basketball: I could have chosen any leg-based sport for her, but I wanted to pick the one with some more direct competition. Plus, there is the easy reference in putting her in a Toon Squad jersey.
Present Mic-Breaking: Yeah, apparently breaking dancing is considered an Olympic sport. And look me in the eye and tell me Present Mic of all people doesn't know how to break dance.
Nezu-Table Tennis: This is just the only sport that I think could fit him. Literally. He might be too small to use or do any of the sports on the roster. Even then, he's going to have to wield the paddle like a claymore.
Wild Wild Pussycats-3x3 Basketball: Considering this is one of the few team events that requires such a small number, it only feels fitting to place Ragdoll, Mandalay, and Pixie Bob here. And what about Tora? He can be a cheerleader.
Fat Gum-Wrestling: Could you imagine someone trying to wrestle as big and plushy as Fat Gum? They're going to go in for the grapple and immediately sink right inside of him. Now the real question is whether or not it counts as a clinch or a pin.
Eraserhead-Artistic Gymnastics: I wanted to give him Rhythmic Gymnastics so badly with how well it fits him, he even has the ribbon for it, but it's a women's only sport in the games. Still, this fits well enough with his impressive acrobatic skills.
Edgeshot-Fencing: Perfect set up for a fencer. He can make himself as thin as an epee and extend himself out as his pleases. Plus, it's the only official sport that lets you wear a mask in game, which should be no issue for Edgeshot.
Endeavor-Boxing: While I could say that I think that Endeavor is smart enough to handle the sweet science of boxing, the real reason is that he is that huge. I don't even think he'd need his powers to demolish someone in the ring.
Gang Orca-Water Polo: While Gang Orca would kill in any of the water-based events, he would definitely kill it in an event where hitting something really hard is part of the goal with his strength boost. Seriously, his spike might actually kill someone.
Ectoplasm-Rowing: This sport is all about being as in sync as possible with the rest of the rowers. Why bother when you can have your hivemind of clones work perfectly together? And if any of them run out of juice, just switch out one of your clones with a fresh one, no one will notice.
Hawks-Skating: Like Sir Nighteye, Hawks just looks and acts like he would be a skater. It wouldn't surprise me if it was part of his training at the Hero Commission to appeal to a younger demographic. Now he can truly become like his heroic namesake, Tony Hawk.

”Mhm I packed everything mom,” I assured the woman on the other side of the phone. “Yes mom! Down to my shirts to my underwear..” I instantly turned off the speaker and pouted in embarrassment.
I knew she was worried, I could understand, I wasn’t exactly the most prepared person in the room. Plus I was changing environments kind of, leaving the city to go and visit grandpa and grandma in the far away town they stayed at.
Mom lets out a sigh. “Baby, you know I'm just worried, after getting rejected... From that college you wanted to go too, you’ve been off lately. Me and your father had been noticing that recently. “ She says with her motherly soothing voice but the moment she said that I could feel my eyes getting dimmer. Like I wanted to cry for the 100th time already.
It was the classic story, I got rejected by my dream college, and I don’t really know what to do with my life anymore. I mean the whole plan was graduating from that college, and then becoming a [dream job], but life didn’t work like that. Shaking the thought away I focused back on the phone call. “You too don’t have to worry about me,” I started. “I’m not a kid anymore, trust me, I’ll be a fine mom. Love you bye.”
Before she had a chance to say bye too, I already ended the phone call. “URGHHHH” I yell pressing my forehead against the honk button letting out the loud beep noise.
This is going to be a long drive…

“Why is this suitcase so damn heavy!” I groaned trying to roll it out of my trunk but it ended up hitting my foot. “Ouch, ouch, ouch!” Holding my feet up I jumped around trying to stop the pain, But I ended up making a fool out of myself…
A guy with black and yellow hair started to walk up to me with a confused expression. His cat-like golden eyes fell on my foot. “Here.” He said, grabbing what looked like an ice pack from his bag and placing it towards my foot. And ofcourse like the idiot I was I stood there dumb-founded.
“Uhm…uh than–thank..you?” The boy with the cat persona vanished before I could even thank him. “Gosh that's so embarrassing.. He probably thinks I'm a weirdo. Great going Y/n!” I scolded myself, gaining weird looks from people.
The pain quickly went away thanks to the ice pack the mysterious guy gave me. I smiled at it softly before putting it away in my pocket. I made it to the small town my grandparents stayed at, the little town of Sendai!
I parked a little bit away from the location of their home, so I had to walk while dragging the stupidly heavy suitcase. “I shouldn’t have packed so much.” I whined rolling the suitcase across the concrete as I started to walk. Finding my grandparents house wasn’t hard since it was a small town and there was only one home that had a blue roof.
Finally I made it to their house and I knocked on the door. “Anyone home?” I asked and earlier than I could say something I could see a white haired small frame opening the door. “Y/n!” Grandma cooed, wrapping me in a hug. “Grandma!” I said back with the same enthusiasm, she started asking me questions like ‘how are you’, ‘what are you doing nowadays’, yada, yada.
Grandma invited me in and after a long bear hug with grandpa we started to chat again. “Yeah, that’s what I'm really up to these days.” I sighed crossing my arms with a tiny smile. “We missed you a lot Pumpkin,” Grandpa says with a wrinkled smile. “Especially someone in town.”
The last sentence Grandpa said was hidden under his breath so me or Grandma couldn’t hear it. “Sweetie, why don’t you go out and explore, it’s your first day back! You might find something surprising! Plus we’ll unpack your stuff.” Granny giggled as Grandpa rubbed her back. I give a guilty expression though. “Are you sure though?” I questioned them both and saw nodding from both backs.
“Okay, I’ll be back soon!” I yelled walking out of the house, I took the fresh air of the outside in. The city was never like this, never had open space, just filled with annoying crowds. But the tall beautiful skyscrapers did make up for them. I was about to continue walking by until I got tapped on the shoulder.
“Hu–” I got interrupted because I was wrapped in a hug by a muscular build. “Y/n!I missed you so much..” The voice said hugging me even tighter, I pursed my lips in confusion and looked up to see a guy with black and white hair. And there's only one person I know who has that.
“Bokuto,” I screamed, hugging him back and pressing myself deeper into his shoulder. “I missed you too, it's been like ages!” Little did you know his heart was beating 10 times faster. It was his childhood crush!
The tight loving hug was released and a goofy smile was placed on Bokuto’s face. “I just can’t believe your back..” He whispers hugging me again, slowly making me feel guilty for leaving before. I rubbed his back, smiling softly. “So, what have you been up to?” I asked, looking up at him when he released the hug. “Nothing much really. But now that you're here, everything's going to be 100 times better!” He chimed, picking you up and twirling you around causing you to hug his shoulders.
“Bok–Bokuto! Let me down!” I yelled with a faint blush of embarrassment on my face. “Oh c’mon, you used to love when I did that when we were kids!” Bokuto grinned, not letting me down and only spinning me faster. That only led to him getting dizzy, and falling.. And ofcourse I had to land on his lap.
It's like the universe was laughing right at my face. We both were embarrassed and quickly got up. “That u-uh.. Reminded me yeah! Everybody in town is waiting for us, come on.” Bokuto says, grabbing my hand, and leading me towards his motorcycle?!?!
“What the…” I say in surprise. “You never told me you had a motorcycle!?” I said as I looked back at him, as he got onto his shimmering black motorcycle. Bokuto’s eyebrows furrowed a little bit.”I mean you didn’t really call or anything after you left...” He mumbled but I heard it.
What he said made me feel horrible, how stupid could I’ve been? I was so busy trying to get into my dream college, I forgot about him.. AND I DIDNT EVEN GET IN! I wanted to apologize to him but it was too late, because Bokuto was already sliding his extra helmet on my head. “Just for safety precautions.” He chuckles with his sly smirk.
“Can’t we just walk!” I whined trying to avoid riding on his motorcycle. “I never knew how much of a scaredy cat you were Y/n~!” He teased, causing me to puff my cheeks. “Hmph! I’ll show you scaredy cat.” I declared as I tried to get on the big motorcycle, I tried to climb on it but I ended up falling. Luckily Bokuto catched me, “I forgot how short you were.” He grinned, easily lifting me up onto the motorcycle.
“Shut up!” I grumbled with a small laugh after. Bokuto then got in front of me and he started to start the engine of the motorcycle. Letting out the loud noise, causing me to press my hands against my ears. “Hold on tight, Y/n!” He yelled so I could hear him over the loud engine, before I knew it we flew, he was the quickest one in the road. I held on so tight to his waist and closed my eyes the tightest I could.
This was going to be a LONG ride.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“Y/n you can open your eyes now,” Bokuto laughed. “We're here now.” Bokuto was the definition of YOLO (You only live once) on the road, he would drift so carelessly and push the engine as fast as he could. But I felt as though he was being much more careful than he usually was for some reason..
I opened my eyes to see colorful lights and a… welcome home banner? “What's this?” I asked with confusion at the banner and the fairlights that seemed like that led to something deeper. “Your grandparents, me, and everyone in town decided to pitch in to make you a welcome home party Y/n..” Bokuto says softly with a gentle smile.
“C’mon, everyones waiting for you!”

Amnesia made you grieve again
TW: amnesia, grief, loss of a loved one, medical trauma, and emotional breakdown
GN!Reader x Johnny "Soap" MacTavish
Day 25: Reader gets amnesia, forgets that their love, Soap, died

The wind howled through the broken windows of the high-rise. Concrete dust hung in the air, thick and sharp in Y/n’s throat. Gunfire cracked in the distance—close, but not close enough to stop moving.
“Movement on the third floor!” Soap’s voice came through comms, laced with adrenaline.
Y/n was already moving. They pressed their back to a wall, weapon raised, scanning. Soap’s silhouette darted just ahead, checking the hallway.
"Clear left," he called.
“Clear right,” Y/n answered, then added "You good?"
Soap glanced over his shoulder with that crooked grin, eyes sparkling even behind the grime on his face. “You kiddin’? Haven’t even scratched the paint.”
Y/n rolled their eyes, but couldn’t help the smirk tugging at their lips.
Then— A flicker. Just a glint. Up high. Across the next building.
The world snapped into focus.
“Sniper!” they shouted, voice shredding through the comms.
Instinct hit before thought— Y/n lunged forward, shoving Soap hard in the chest. His eyes widened as he stumbled back behind cover.
Then, Pain.
A punch to the shoulder. The air left Y/n’s lungs as they hit the floor. Blood bloomed hot and fast through their gear.
Soap was on them instantly. “No no no—stay with me!”
His hands pressed to the wound. The shouting over comms turned frantic. Ghost’s voice barked something. Price cut in sharp.
“You’re gonna be okay, love, stay with me.” Soap’s voice shook, but his hands were steady.
Y/n blinked up at him. Blood in their mouth, cold creeping in.
“I got you,” he whispered, like a promise. “You’re not going anywhere.”
Y/n closed their eyes, and the world went black.
The next thing they registered was rhythmic beeping. Soft. Steady. The smell of antiseptic and something sterile stung their nose. Footsteps, quiet ones, shuffled somewhere nearby. A voice murmured. A curtain rustled.
Their body ached—dull, distant pain that flared sharper with each breath. Chest tight. Shoulder burning. Mouth dry as ash.
Then— “Hey. Easy now.”
That voice. Familiar.
Y/n's eyes cracked open, vision blurry and whitewashed under the ceiling lights. Their head pounded. Their tongue felt too big for their mouth.
“Price…?”
The blur beside the bed shifted. Came into focus. It was Price. Beard a little more gray than they remembered. Eyes heavy, tired, but soft. “Yeah. I’m here.” He stepped closer, careful. “Just breathe. You’re safe.”
Y/n blinked slowly. “What happened…? Where’s Soap?”
The world stilled.
Price didn’t answer at first. He looked toward one of the nurses, gave a subtle shake of his head. She nodded and slipped out, drawing the curtain part way closed behind her.
The quiet got heavier.
Y/n tried to sit up, panic pressing at their ribs. “Where is he? He was right there, I—there was a sniper—he should’ve been right behind me—he said I’d be okay—”
“Y/n,” Price said, gently but firmly, pressing a steadying hand to their uninjured shoulder. “You need to listen to me.” Their heart thundered in their chest.
“You’ve been out for a week,” he said slowly. “But… that mission—the one with the sniper… that wasn’t last week.”
Y/n stared, confused.
“It was two years ago.”
Silence. Beep. Beep. Beep.
“No,” they breathed. “That’s not—no, that’s wrong, that was just—Soap was just here, I saw him, he—he pulled me out—”
Price’s voice cracked just enough to betray the weight of what came next.
“You’ve had a head injury. Bad one. Docs said it might… mess with your memory. You’re remembering the day it happened. But not what came after.”
Y/n’s mouth went dry. Cold started to seep under their skin.
“I don’t…” They shook their head. “I don’t understand.”
And then—quietly. So small it barely made it past their lips “Where’s Soap?”
A beat.
Then the shatter “He’s gone.” The words didn’t make sense.
Y/n blinked, eyes glassy and wide. “No.”
Price didn’t move.
“No,” they repeated, shaking their head harder, voice rising. “You’re wrong—he was there, he—he was with me, I pushed him, I saved him, he said—he said I was gonna be okay, he was okay, I saw him—”
“I know what you saw,” Price said softly.
“No, you don’t!” Y/n snapped, their voice cracking. Their hands fumbled for the IV, the monitor cables. “Get this off—get this off me—I need to find him—I need to talk to him—”
“Y/n, stop—”
“Let me see him!” Machines started to beep faster. One of the nurses pushed back through the curtain, a look of worry on her face. But Price lifted a hand, keeping her back.
“Don’t sedate them,” he said firmly. “I’ve got it.”
Y/n was halfway out of the bed before the pain knocked them back. Price caught them before they could fall, holding them steady as their breathing hitched and their body trembled.
His voice dropped low. A whisper not made for battlefield commands, but for the pieces of someone breaking apart. “He didn’t make it, love.”
Y/n went still.
“Six months after that mission. You were back on base, still recovering. Soap went out with Ghost, a quick op. Supposed to be. They were ambushed. He didn’t come home.” Y/n stared at him like he was speaking a language they’d never heard.
“I’m sorry,” he said. And then it hit. Like a freight train. With no warning.
Y/n broke.
The sob came without breath, without grace—just raw and full and empty. Their hands clutched at Price’s jacket like it was the only solid thing left in the world.
He didn’t let go. Just held them tighter, already on the edge of the bed with Y/n pressed into him—his arm still around their shoulders from when he caught them. His other hand came up to shield the back of their head, grounding, steady, like he could hold them together just by staying still.
And when the sobs finally began to fade away, Price’s voice broke the silence. “I’m here,” he said quietly. “And I will help you get through this again.”

A novelization of "Full of sandwiches" by Eltorro64Rus
Once upon a time Medic was lying at the bottom of a chasm.
At the top, Heavy poked his head out of the giant metal fridge and bellowed, "I AM FULL OF SANDVICHES AND I AM COMING FOR YOU!"
This displeased Medic.
Heavy then jumped his entire fridge off the chasm, smashing all of Medic but his head.
Very bewildered by this turn of events, he asked for help. "Help!"
Just then, Engineer came yippee-kai-yay-kai-yipping by. He grumbled as he saw Medic.
"Help!" Medic repeated.
"Nope," said Engineer.
Medic then vomited a daredevil helmet. Engineer examined the helmet, then put it on head-first. After that, he held up a remote. Elf Scout jumped out of Engineer's oversized holster to push the button.
This caused the fridge to teleport away, leaving only Medic's head.
This displeased Medic.
It was just then that Soldier reverse-honked the helmet off of Engineer using a bugle horn. With one swift head poke, Engineer then wobbled over.
Meanwhile, Medic's head screamed in rage.
Frightened, Soldier ran off across the entire map. On the other end was a bloody rake tied to a fireaxe. Soldier stepped on the rake, which sent the axe into his skull for a critical hit. Not visibly wounded, Soldier rubbed his forehead while Heavy laughed at him.
Heavy said, "The medal!"
"What?" replied Soldier.
"It is so eouoagharret!" answered Heavy. He then pressed the button on Soldier's medal, shrinking Soldier's head to non-existence.
The elderly RED Sniper then wobbled up, asking for help capturing the little point he kept in his pocket. Heavy happily obliged.
"Thanks," croaked RED Sniper. He then wobbled off, directly into his good pal, BLU Spy. Spy pushed Sniper over, killing him instantly.
RED Demoman collapsed in a drunken heap next to BLU Spy.
"Huh?" said Spy.
Demoman then kicked Spy into a different part of the map. He collapsed onto a shell-shaped button by the cart tracks, sending a dispenser to Soldier.
The dispenser tossed a health pack into Soldier's headless torso. This replaced his head with a remote.
"Beep," said Soldier.
This worried Demoman, who was still in a drunken slump.
Soldier then pushed his head's button, starting a countdown from 10. Demoman and Heavy both started screaming and flailing. But when the countdown reached 0, the Remote just made a c: face.
A cactus then erupted from the ground, slid over to Soldier, and slowly killed him with Minecraft poke damage. He dropped a grenade-on-a-stick on his death.
"Ugh," thought Heavy, looking at the grenade. "Not good!" He then flew in a spiral deep into a cave.
Meanwhile, Demoman just chuckled devilishly as the grenade flew into him. He picked it up, but the grenade looked like a delicious ham shank, so he bit into it. The grenade exploded and launched him out of bounds.
Elsewhere, in DeGroot Keep, alien Soldier and alien Engineer had a conversation over chess beyond mortal comprehension.
"Blal," Soldier would say.
"Bidlidli," Engineer would answer.
"Boop," interjected cowboy Scout, wielding a revolver.
Alien Soldier was devastated, but alien Engineer only grinned.
Just then, the Demoman from the other map crashed through their chess table.
Cowboy Scout was horrified at the sight of their ragdolled bodies and pushed the Unsee button on his remote until it changed to a Send SMS button. Scout lost $2.99 and felt annoyed.
Demoman got right up in Scout's face with a shit-eating grin. They had a quick blinking contest, and then Demoman held two fingers up towards Scout's eyes.
"Help!" cried Scout. "I'm dyin' here!"
Demoman thrust forward, capturing the two control points that replaced Scout's eyes.
"Thanks," said Scout. Then Scout flailed away.
BLU Engineer fell onto Demoman. "Medic!" he cried.
"Ja," said robo-Medic, while Luigi watched them both.
Engineer frowned. He put his hands on Medic's shoulders and said, "Robot." He pushed Medic off the ledge and onto a ramp.
The momentum propelled Medic to capture a control point and go through an open doorframe that Pyro closed behind him.
He fell onto a log in the swamp. His singular wheel for feet meant he couldn't escape the rolling log, and he screamed. The end.

I keep putting it off, because I don't stand to gain much from it until I can get some prisoners to manufacture more mech cores (the chance that defeated enemies instantly die goes up the larger your colony gets, and raids have been bizarrely scarce lately), but things are uncomfortably calm right now, so... fuck it. Time to progress to the final tier of mechs.
It looks like a decal you'd see on an overpriced mid-2000s gaming PC.
And it broadcasts map-wide psychic hatred that makes everyone uncomfortable.
I won't even pretend that the colony is the scrappy underdogs this time. The most normal person here is Jam, and he's a cyborg with a pet thrumbo, which is like if a rhino and a giraffe had a kid.
The apocriton's resurrection ability helps it get most of the scythers through the traps alive... but it has limited charges, so that means that it won't be able to do that during the fight.
Come on out, asshole, that EMP mine is only a few more steps away.
Nope, it never actually triggers the EMP mine. It gets held up at the end of the hallway trying to use its one weapon to shoot people, and... basically doesn't hit anything.
The killing blow goes to... Yoshiko, blowing its leg off with her fancy new sniper rifle. Which, I will remind you, is named Night Barracuda. She was a real champ during this fight, actually. Used her freakish robot legs to do hit-and-run sniping attacks on the robots and got one-hit KOs on something like three of them.
Might have to take the thrumbo to the vet, though.

I SOLO'ED SPIRE OF THE WATCHER IN DESTINY 2!!!! ✨🙌😤✨
Here's my adventurer's notes, maybe they'll be useful to someone out there!
(Also, this will all be assuming you know how to already do Spire of the Watcher, but I can make a guide for the basics of that too if you need! I can even take you thru myself sometime if you're curious!)
Intro Encounter: Entering the Bunker (Easy) - I did this all on my Warlock. For this first encounter I used Nova Warp for quick and easy/panic add clear, those new Briarbinds that let you pick up your child of the old gods, Leviathan's Breath for taking out the 4 cyclops that spawn on top of the cliffs, and Veles-X, which is Seraph Season's ritual weapon that has Repulsor Brace and Golden Tricorn - I ran with the Devour aspect for survivability, and of course Child of the Old Gods - For fragments I would really recommend the one that gives devour from picking up orbs/breaches, the one where finishers make you invisible, and the one where killing a volatile target drops a void breach - Really this encounter wasn't too much of an issue for me, as I could just use a finisher to go invisible at any point I was about to die, and my child of the old gods was sucking the life out of everything to the point that I hardly had to add clear. If you're struggling here, consider running helm mods that drop orbs on weapon multikills, as those will act like health packs that instantly give you devour - VERY VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: I learned that supplicants ONLY SPAWN ONCE YOU'VE COMPLETED AN ARC NODE!!! If you get all 4 of them to the last node, then complete them all at the same time, the encounter finishes before they can fully spawn in and become a problem
Second Encounter: Ascending the Spire (Easy) - Solar Warlock this time. If you get Heat Rises, it becomes literally SOOOO EASY to hit all the different nodes that you have to parkour to shoot normally - Ignitions will wipe out ALL the adds very easily - DON'T KILL THE HYDRAS!!! They are annoying yes, but killing them spawns supplicants, it's not worth it. (If you're in the air, their bad aim means they hardly ever hit you! Most of the damage you take from them is when they land shots on the ground close to you, so being off the ground negates that!) Third Encounter: Akelous, The Siren's Current (Difficult) - I'm sure there's better ways of doing this, but I did this by running Chaos Reach with the Geomag boots for DPS, the Manticore of all things for survivability, and my favorite ever crafted Stasis sniper, Thoughtless, with Overflow and Focused Fury - My overflow sniper has 16 rounds in the mag, which is enough to take out every single eye at the start of DPS and ALSO miss a couple of times, I highly recommend it - ALWAYS TAKE THE TIME TO TAKE OUT ALL HARPIES IN THE ARENA AS WELL AS EVERY OTHER ENEMY ON THE SIDE YOU'RE ABOUT TO START DPS ON - It doesn't matter too much what heavy you use because Chaos Reach + Geomag lasts so so long that you have hardly any time to do any damage beyond that. I actually ran an add clear grenade launcher instead just to keep me safe - THIS IS AN ENDURANCE RUN. Stay safe by sectioning off different sides of enemies so only a few can shoot at you at a time. The minotaurs have really long ranged lobbing which is always avoidable but will kill you if you don't. Run helm mods that drop orbs with weapon multikills and the 2 of the boots mods that gives you health on orb pickups and you should have no problem staying alive even when you've got nothing for survival other than that. Fourth Encounter: "IT'S GOING PROMPT CRITICAL!!!" (Easy) - I swapped back to my solar build I used for ascending the spire and it was totally easy. If you need to, take the time to find all the 5 nodes before you start shooting them, and it becomes a lot easier. Remember that there's 1 node in the middle in that 3rd room, then two on the left and two on the right!
Fifth Encounter: Persys, Primordial Ruin (Hard) - You know it, you hate it, we've got supplicants all over the darn place, purposefully hiding behind things so you can't shoot them, not to mention the giant angry chicken always on your tail! BUT, I have a secret weapon that nobody would recommend that I think will do just the thing - USE TELESTO!!! Supplicants, if killed by fusion rifles, DON'T EXPLODE, and just disintegrate! But Telesto gets even better when you realize you can shoot the GROUND too! The supplicants like hiding in the bottom middle for when you go to open the door, but shooting a spread at the mouth of the opening they hide at means they all disintegrate right as they chase you! - I used those Briarbinds again, which helped HUGE amounts for the 2 hydras you have to kill, along with the continuous spawning adds inside the core when you're trying to do the puzzle. I would just say "Go cook!" and it would give me devour every few seconds as it sits in the middle of the spawn area and sucks up anything that spawns before it can really be a problem - I recommend using an anti-barrier primary weapon because of the hydras. It's so annoying having to sit and wait for the shield to spin back around otherwise, nobody's got time for that! - FOR DAMAGE: I used a lasting impression + cluster bombs Osprey, and the good old fashioned slowva bomb. To get Optimal DPS: First, you send out your child of the old gods, then you shoot it with the lasting impression rocket, reload, shoot it again, then nova bomb. If you do it right, all of those should hit before the boss leaves the weakness range of your void buddy - 1 shot of Telesto is enough to get the minotaurs down to finishable health, meaning you can go invis as you pick up the buff and run to start shooting nodes! And that's pretty much it!!! I never use guides for any of this stuff so I could be missing out on some things, but this is just what a little low leveled kobold was able to piece together! I hope it helps! 🙌😋

Click here for the rest of the series!
Chapter 35
She didn’t move, hands still raised. Red had known Oliver all her life, but she didn’t know this version of him, the person the red dot had turned him into, pushing him to the farthest point. But it must have always been there, somewhere inside, this Oliver. Dormant, waiting until he was needed.
Boom, there it is.
This behaviour didn’t come out of nowhere.
“I’m not working with the sniper, Oliver,” Red snapped back. “I’m the witness, they’re here to kill me.”
Considering how certain they were that the secret was the death of Jack… Why don’t they simply fucking ask Mr. Sniper if Red being a witness to a mafia hit is the secret he’s after?
Red stood, in this RV, in her underwear and socks, and she looked up at the others. She wasn’t ashamed to be standing here in her underwear. Red knew real shame and this wasn’t it.
Red proceeds to talk about the survivor’s guilt following her mum’s death.
But the problem is that in this situation, being held at knife-point and forced to undress… The shame of the situation here doesn’t and shouldn’t belong to Red. It’s 100% on Oliver, for forcing this literal CHILD to do all of this. Simply because he’s become paranoid and unhinged.
He bundled the iPhones up in one hand and walked over, passing them to Maddy.
SPONSORED BY iPhone!
It’s funny because up until this point, they’d simply been “a cell phone”. No brands whatsoever. They’d talked about networks like AT&T and Sprint… But my own network piggybacks off from AT&T without me actually BEING with AT&T.
“You don’t have to!” Red yelled back. “Just because Oliv—”
Oliver turned on her, brandishing the knife. “She’s made up her mind, Red, stop trying to manipulate her!”
Pot. Kettle. Black.
“Go on,” Oliver whispered, guiding her forward. Maddy stopped.
Chapter 35 summary: At knife-point, Oliver forces Red to undress, and then Maddy puts on what Red had been wearing. There is a brief interlude where Simon brought her other clothes first. But there’s also a moment where Red is in her underwear, standing in front of everybody, being held at knife-point… So I’m not quite sure what the point even was.
Anyway, after Maddy changes, Oliver goes so far as to start hacking off his sister’s hair because it’s longer than Red’s is. Then there’s a long section where literally everybody tries to convince Maddy that this is the stupidest idea of Oliver’s yet.
She goes outside, and for a moment, they think that this could actually work. Then the gun goes off. Because were you seriously expecting anything else?
Chapter 36
“Could have severed the femoral artery, I’m not sure.”
You would know because then Maddy would have almost instantly died. If not within seconds, then in the 15 minutes that it took Red to get Maddy inside.
Static. Red’s breath snagged in her throat. Interference.
Chapter 36 summary: They’re stunned that Maddy actually got shot at. Then a little relieved when they hear Maddy screaming outside. Red knows that she has to be the one to go out and get her, so she goes. Maddy was shot in the leg, but she’s losing a lot of blood really quickly.
It takes ages for Red to even convince Maddy that she needs to get up and move. It’s a lot like every war drama that you’ve ever read/watched. But eventually, Red gets Maddy to the door, where Arthur and Reyna help get Maddy in and on the ground of the RV.
Oliver wants to know why the sniper somehow clocked Maddy, but didn’t shoot at Red. But Reyna tells him to shut the fuck up for once. Reyna starts to issue orders, what with her being in medical-slash-nursing school.
For lack of anything better to do, Red starts to cycle through the walkie-talkie channels again. There, she happens upon the crew working to fix the cell tower (It’s now 5 AM, and the perfect time for that.)
However, in the middle of Red trying to call for help, Arthur reaches over and smashes the walkie-talkie.

guess who just played their first Lancer one-shot!
(i got most kills as a hacker mech and fired a Loading weapon twice)
(i didn't even pop core)
(in all seriousness the gm/other players were fantastic we're so fucking back)
here's the mech i was piloting btw, ROUTER
HIGHLIGHTS:
Pulse Rifle McGundam Pilot stressed twice but tanked it, did good work with its damage potential
Classic Witch Tomfuckery™
an enemy fired a Hound Missile at me (counts as a drone, takes turns to reach the target, but the turn it is fired on it's just next to the user). i immediately grew a devious grin as i hit it its ass with Balance Control Lockout, causing it to slam into the ground immediately, annihilating both the Bombard that fired it and the Bastion standing next to it (second multi-structure Bastion i killed in the session)
"I LOVE GENERAL MASSIVE SYSTEMS" was said multiple times
last attack of the scene was our sniper hitting a max-damage AMR crit on a Support, killing it instantly and making the third two-structure Bastion retreat immediately
Range 8, 2d6+4 Kinetic
everyone else was in an Everest with their core power active yet i took neither Stress nor Structure while getting three of the party's seven total kills

"I'm really sorry you got electrocuted." nami to usopp klasjdfs
@apaise | lisa frankenstein meme | accepting
with chopper tending to her bruises, she can only squint her eyes in accusation at the other. " even though you hid behind me, huh? " would usopp have done the exact same thing in her shoes? absolutely. but that's neither here not there right now.
" you know, you're lucky i took the hit for you. it's all because i'm so damn strong that i'm still standing. " her attempt at grandeur is instantly shot down when chopper wraps her arm just a little too tightly and has usopp yelping in response.
the sniper slumps back down in mild embarrassment. it's only then that she notices nami didn't get out entirely unscathed from the fight. there's only a few scratches on her arm, but it's already more than usopp can bear seeing.
" was it the clima-tact? " her voice is smaller when she speaks now. it's possible nami had simply panicked in the face of danger, but usopp couldn't help but worry it was an issue with her weapon that caused all this. " did it not work right? i'm still working out the kinks. "
#apaise#( ic ask ; usopp )#ok we're testing out the fem version for now#girlfail usopp IS a pretty good flavor#love them bickering#but also had to throw a lil bit of angst there at the end :))))

You seem to instantly regret that last statement the next day. Immensely. You wake up from a long shift of reaping souls and are instantly called into Price's office for an emergency meeting about a mission that went south, and if it weren't for your magic as a grim reaper, you wouldn't be in gear as soon as possible, running to Price's office. He gives you a quick briefing that Ghost had been taken hostage on a mission he was sent out on last night, and that your skills were needed. Good thing you had your gear on already. You're teamed up with Soap, Roach and Gaz and the four of you get to the helicopter, while you're internally going 'fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!' Hopefully they don't kill him. You'd like to NOT take things into your own hands. Oh you poor son of a bitch. As the four of you land on the ground and get to work, you instantly catch sight of a sniper on the roof aiming for Soap's head so you tackle him to the ground behind cover, the bullet missing and hitting you in the leg instead. " FUCK! " You look at the wound and grab a knife from your pocket, prying out the bullet and wrapping your leg quickly in bandages before you get up and take out the sniper with your own gun. Sadly before the sniper died, he set off the alarm and now doors are opening, more enemies are swarming out, and Price had the grand fucking idea to send out FOUR of you??? You groan and rather than have Soap, Roach or Gaz risk their lives, you instead put your life at risk and take on the enemies. Roach stayed behind cover and fired into the crowd, making sure not to hit you which you are forever grateful for while Gaz and Soap head into the building to clear it out. Little did they know, there are too many fucking enemies in the goddamn building. When you try to get in touch with them, their comms are silent and you instantly know what the hell happened. They got taken too, and you just groan a bit before looking to Roach. [" They have Gaz and Soap, I want you to get out of here. I'll handle the rest. "] Roach looks at you like you're an idiot. [" You're nuts! "] [" And I'm about to get even nuttier, JUST GET GOING! "] You call in the helicopter to pick up Roach, who looks at you one final time and heads to the helicopter before it flies off. Now that you're alone, you whistle and through the shadows, your scythe appears and flies into your hand. You don't change forms but you know this'll be handier to use than your gun. Stepping into the building, you're approached by more enemies and with lightning fast reflexes, you phase in and out through shadows and take them out, leaving them dead on the floor. Blood covers your gear but you've had worse, and you proceed to take out your handgun and shoot whoever comes running while spinning your scythe and throwing it to take out 6 guys in a row. You're trying your best not to use your powers, unless you want to get exposed, so when you get to where the three are, you fling your scythe into the shadows and use your gun to take out the rest of the enemies before running through the locked door and yelling " OH YEAAAAH!!! " When you're trying not to lose your shit, you tend to get a little goofy. Ghost, Soap and Gaz look at you like you've lost your mind, surprised that the door shattered into wooden shards, before you cut them out of their ropes and let them get their gear back. Today was a close call to you losing your patience but when you got back to base safely and the debriefing was settled, you went quickly to the gym to try and calm yourself down. As you run at the fastest speed on a treadmill, you feel yourself lose your grip on reality and start laughing when you feel incredibly lightheaded from how long you've been running. You stop and can barely feel your legs, panting a bit before you sit down and drink a lot of water from your water bottle. You think that maybe after this day, things couldn't get any worse. You dumbass.
" Shall I have this dance? "
Ghost has danced with Death countless times and only watched Death take his friends and loved ones with no ability of doing anything to stop it even more. He likes to imagine he's Death itself, until the day Death arrived atop a black horse in his dream... or should I say vision?
- - -
You are Death, not in a 'I'm-so-war-torn-and-edgy' way but in a more legit way. You were once a man named Garret, you had been slaughtered in captivity of the enemy and then woke up to find yourself being interviewed by the former Grim Reaper who instantly hired you on the spot as the new Grim Reaper.
Your horse is apparently your old cat named Midnight reincarnated so when you found him, you two were happy to see each other and an old bond between you both came back from the dead.
Some perks of being the Grim Reaper is wielding the scythe, yes you'll admit you're still a dork, and getting to travel the world freely. Since you're as dead as a doorknob, you also get to see the spirit world so you're a frequent visitor to Japan for the festivals held by the Mononokes and Yokais.
- - -
Every Day of The Dead, you visit old friends who've long died and still use your skills of speaking Spanish so they don't get rusty. It's great partying with them, and speaking of languages, you've mastered every language before you were signed up for field duty.
One night after being a sweetheart to a lonely dying man, letting him cross over to the afterlife, you hear your phone go ding so you take it out and see you've been given a new assignment. What strikes you as odd is that this isn't your usual task of finding a certain person across the world to help them move on but... to find a group of people who need to stay alive.
You accept it anyway, whistling for Midnight who comes galloping with a whinny. " New task Midnight, I gotta keep a group of individuals alive this time. A little strange but I'm always one for something new. " The pair of you start heading off with a portal opening up quickly in front, which you both enter through.
Upon entering through, you're back in your personal room with a letter on your bed. Midnight morphs into a black cat and sits on your bed, meowing while softly papping the letter. " Oh, thanks Midnight. " You pick it up and start reading it.
" 'Dear Mr. Reaper, upon accepting this task you hereby are required to wear a human disguise and it is important you do so as to not startle anyone. You are still free to go about your other tasks but you cannot forget that your group of particular individuals are of great importance.' Wow they still always seem so posh in these letters. Anyways... 'Upon further notice, your records from your previous life will not be used but you will go under a new alias with a secret life. It is up to you to remain anonymous, and once your task is fulfilled, you will be free from this task and go onto other tasks.' " You notice there's another slip of paper so you swap it with the other letter. " 'Your task will last until the designated timestamps of each individual.' " Below is a list of names and the ages they die. John Price - Current age: 48 - Death age: 90 " Goddamn. " Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick - Current age: 28 - Death age: 86 John 'Soap' MacTavish - Current age: 28 - Death age: 84 Simon 'Ghost' Riley - Current age: 29 - Death age: 85 For a moment you think the last two names are going to die together until you find a little sidenote. 'Simon Riley and John MacTavish are to die at the same time. They are bound by the chains of Fate and their love is written in the stars.' Huh. You've heard of those kinds of deaths, where love continues to live on even in death. You know a few guys like that too, but you've never experienced it in person. There are other names too. 'Konig' - Current age: 32 - Death age: 80 Kim 'Horangi' Hong-jin - Current age: 31 - Death age: 79 Another pair bound by chains. OP Usopp x Sick!Reader - What would you say?
Summary: Usopp, wondering why he hadn't seen you all day, finds you very ill in the girls' quarters. After taking you to the sickbay to see Chopper, he refuses to leaver your side.
Warnings: A lot of fluff, a bit of angst, sick comfort.
You groaned, brows knit and chest heaving as you rolled over to face the door of the girls' bedroom. Pulling the covers over your shoulder and against your face, you couldn't help but huff. Why was it so goddamned hot in here? Loosening the tuck of your blanket, you were immediately stung by freezing air, opting to just suffer under the heat of your quilt, than the agonizing needles of the air. What the hell was going on?
Elsewhere, Usopp sat at the dining table eating breakfast with a few other crew members, who lounged as they usually did on a sunny Sunday morning. "Hey, Robin," he asked, breaking the tranquil quiet that seemed to blanket the entire ship. She looked up from the novel she was reading, glancing up at him, and using the break of focus as an excuse to take a sip of tea. "Have you seen (Y/N) today? She never sleeps this late." He wondered, noting that they hadn't docked in weeks, and that they weren't even close to land, so she couldn't have gone on an errand without him knowing.
"I'm not sure she feels well today." Robin answer with a kind smile. "She was still asleep when I got up, and when I offered to bring her anything she declined." Usopp thought on her answer for a moment before she continued. "I touched her forehead and she seemed warmer than usual, so I asked Sanji to brew her some tea that might help a fever come down."
"That's really sweet of you," the sniper remarked, silently worried over his friend's well being. As if on cue, the chef walked over to the table, setting down and small tray holding a cup of steaming tea, and a jammed biscuit on a saucer.
"Here it is now, thank you Sanji," the ravenette nodded to the blonde appreciatively.
"Hey, wait," Usopp interjected as Sanji began to exit the kitchen, tray in hand. "I'll take it to her. I was gonna go check on her anyways." The chef quirked a brow at his friend's sudden willingness to help, but ultimately passed the it over.
"Just make sure she drinks that tea, I hand picked all the herbs myself and I don't want my time going to waste." Sanji advised, turning back to what he was doing before the request. "And you better not drop that, either."
Usopp simply rolled his eyes at his uptightness, descending the hall toward the sleeping quarters. When he arrived at the door of the girls' room, the carefully held the tray in one hand and knocked with the other, wanting to make sure no one else was there. When he got no response, he cautiously twisted the knob and opened the door to reveal you in the first bunk he found, curled up in a pitiful little ball.
"(Y/N), you okay?" he asked inching towards you timidly. "I brought you something from Sanji." You failed to respond, simply panting from under your blanket. Setting the tray down on another bunk, he slowly made his way to your bedside, laying the back of his hand on your forehead. "Shit, you are hot." he remarked, a bit surprised that what Robin had said earlier was true.
"'M fine...go away." you finally mumbled, rolling away from him to face the wall. Usopp sat beside you on the bed, his hand once again against your head, to gauge just how bad your fever was.
"Maybe you should go see Chopper." he suggested, brows knit with concern. "You seem pretty sick." You growled in annoyance, forcing yourself to sit up, and eventually dragging yourself out of bed, standing on the terribly cold floor. He watched you as you walked over to your dresser, picking out your clothes for the day with a worried expression. "I think you should lay back down,"
"I've got too much to do today to just lay in bed all day. I told you I'm...I'm fi...ne..." With that, you instantly hit the floor, fainting in the middle of the room. Usopp bolted up to catch you, but was unfortunately not able to get to you in time.
"(Y/N)! Are you okay? Please wake up!" he panicked, shaking you gently as he cradled you in his lap. When you came to seconds later, you looking up at him, confused and delirious.
"Usopp...what are you doing in here, this is the girls' room..." His face paled as he struggled to find an answer, befuddled that you'd forgotten that he was even there.
"I've gotta get you to Chopper, he'll know what to do." he concluded, trying his best to calm himself down, before scooping you up into his arms and carrying you out of them room. On the way to the sick bay, he noticed you fading in and out of consciousness, your head occasionally slumping to fall limp off the side of his forearm. Once he reached the doctor's office, he immediately burst into the room.
"There's something wrong with (Y/N)!" he shouted to the small doctor, who instructed him to lay you down in one of the beds that lined the west wall.
-----
Some time later, your eyes fluttered open to see that your surroundings were different from how you'd left them. Almost instantly, you were hit with an absolutely splitting headache, surely a side effect of the pressure in your sinuses, and the time unconscious certainly couldn't have helped.
"Oh, (Y/N), I'm so glad you're awake." a shrill voice voice called, accompanied by cloven footsteps making their way over. "You really had me worried." You rolled over to find the Straw Hats' doctor strolling to your bedside, a clipboard in hand.
"Chopper...?" you verbally noted, deducing that if he was here, you must be in the infirmary. "How'd I get here?" you asked, sitting up a bit and looking around.
"Please don't try to get up," he advised, gently pushing you back down. "Usopp said you fainted in your room, and he carried you here." You blushed a bit at the thought, more embarrassed than anything else. You probably looked like such a mess. "Don't worry, though, you haven't been out very long."
"How long exactly?" you wondered, tilting your head a bit, only to correct it, finding that the action made your migraine worsen.
"Almost four hours."
"Four hours?!" you panicked, jumping out of bed, looking all around for your shoes, only to remember you probably hadn't worn any to begin with.
"Please calm down!" Chopper stressed, running to the door to try and block you from it, and pressing his hooves to your shins, in an effort to force you back into bed with his little brute strength. "You're still sick, you shouldn't be out of bed!" Just as you reached the door, you were able to step over him and the corners of your vision began to darken. The last thing you felt was the doctor tugging backward on your left leg, before both buckled under your weight.
Luckily for you, Usopp opened the door just in time for you to slump forward into his arms. He thanked his lucky stars he was able to catch you this time, now maybe he wouldn't feel so bad for the last. Your eyes had hardly even shut before they fluttered open again, gazing up hazily at the sniper for the second time today. "Usoppppp," Chopper whined. "Tell her to stay in bed, she won't listen to me!"
The man's eyes softened exponentially when they shifted back to your sleepy face and he sighed with a kind smile. "You really should rest," he said lightly, helping you back over to your bed and getting you laid down. The small reindeer huffed with crossed arms as he followed the two of you, taking his chart into his hooves again.
"You might as well get comfortable," he pouted, still upset at your lack of care for his professional opinion. "I'm gonna have to keep you overnight, possibly longer."
This perked your interest and you snapped your head to him as he began to read off your chart. "Wait, all night? Why, it's just a little fever, right?" your fretted. "Right?"
"I'm afraid it's not that simple." he sighed, flipping through the pages on his clip board. "(Y/N), have you ever eaten a Devil Fruit before?"
Your eyes widened at the question. Of course you hadn't, you were just a normal person! You didn't have any powers! "No, I think I'd know if I had, Chopper." you rolled your eyes. "What could possibly make you think that?"
"I didn't understand it at first, but your symptoms all align with sea water poisoning, but that could only be the case if you were a Devil Fruit user." He explained, offering for you to look at some of his notes. "Is it possible that you have been in contact with and sea water lately?"
"No, but it wouldn't matter if I had," you answered flatly. "I'm not a Devil Fruit user." Chopper sighed with frustration, rubbing his head and walking away to sit down and review his notes.
"I'm sorry, maybe I made a mistake, I haven't been feeling very good either." he confessed with little energy.
Usopp sat and thought for a moment, looking around for a clue as to what could help solve the mystery. He eventually took to looking you up and down. Maybe you'd been bitten by something and they'd just glossed over it? That's when he noticed how swollen your feet looked. He curiously stood up and studied your soles, which didn't go unnoticed. "Hey, what are you looking at my feet for, you creep?!" you shrieked, pulling your legs up to hug them and hiding your feet.
He simply tilted his head in confusion. "What are those on the bottom of your feet?" He asked causing you to blush with embarrassment. This caught Chopper's attention, who wandered over to see what the fuss was about.
"What's wrong with my feet, huh?" you defended, still hiding them and refusing when the doctor asked to see. After a bit more prodding, you hesitantly, and humiliatingly let the two study your soles for any potential clues.
"They're almost like the pads on cats' paws," Usopp remarked, poking one, causing you to squirm.
"You've had these all your life?" Chopper asked, finally ending his observation and walking to your bedside.
"I wasn't born with them, no, but I've had them since I was little," you answered, still pouting over the whole ordeal. "They just kind of showed up one day. You mean you guys don't have them?"
That's when the pieces fell together for the reindeer. "That's why your steps don't make noise when you walk!" he exclaimed, finally solving the puzzle. "You must have eaten the Shh Shh fruit as a child! It grants the power of stealth, but you've never needed to use it, so you never knew you had it!"
"But I don't ever remember eating a special fruit?" you asked, puzzled by this new revelation.
"Some fruits can look really mundane, or even disguise themselves!" he explain, retrieving a large book and setting it onto your lap, open to a very specific page. "And look! It says here that it was last seen on the island you grew up on!"
You were having a hard time wrapping your head around what he was telling you. You had powers and you never even knew? That seems a little far fetched. "That still doesn't explain why I feel so bad." You reminded him. Chopper thought for a moment before his eyes widened and locked onto the necklace you were wearing.
"When did you find that stone?" he asked, pointing to the pendent.
"Last time we docked, why?" you cocked a brow, holding it close to your chest, afraid he might confiscate it.
"But when did you start wearing it around your neck?" he pressed.
"I just put it on the chord last night, and then I wore it to bed. Again, why?" You were beginning to get irritated with his interrogation. "Chopper, just tell me what's going on."
"That's a seastone." he said so matter of factly. "It has to be. It has the same effect as sea water on Devil Fruit users. That explains why I've been feeling so tired since you came in. You have to take it off."
You hesitated, having grown attached to rock, unwilling to just throw it away, it was special to you. With a bit more persuasion, you reluctantly took it off, dropping it into Usopp's waiting hand, who then pocketed it to keep it from falling into unexpecting possession.
Instant you felt a weight lift off your shoulders. The entire room felt lighter, and your throat ached a bit less. "Now that that's out of the way, we can get you better!" The doctor chirped, already feeling much better himself.
-----
Nearly an hour had passed since your diagnosis with seastone poisoning, and you were still in bed, only this time with a tray of delicious food, curtesy of Sanji, who'd forgiven you for wasting his time by not drinking his tea. Usopp had also left for a bit to take the rock to his workshop, thinking that the shavings from of it might make for a useful bullet for his Kabuto. Chopper had taken this time to fashion a regiment of treatment for your sickness, which consisted of rest, fluids, hearty foods, and a special cocktail of medicines which he made himself. He also recommended you still stay with him until you were better so he could monitor you.
Now that you were fed and hydrated, and had had the first dose of your medicine, all that was left was to rest. A part of you was nervous about spending the night alone in the sick bay. You had gotten so used to sleeping with others in the room through bunking with the girls that you had forgotten what true silence sounded like.
Chopper had long since retired to his sleeping area, a small closet conjoined to the infirmary, and you laid wide awake, staring at the wooden ceiling, wondering when you'd finally fall asleep. A small creak startled you and you shot up to find the door slowly creeping ajar, before you began to make out a long nosed figure peaking in. "You can come in, Usopp."
He accepted your offer, quietly shutting the door behind him, as if he could disturb any other other patients. Tip-toeing, he made his way over to you and sat down at the foot of your bed. "How do you feel?" he asked softly glancing over to you.
"Better." you answered blandly. A beat of silence passed between the two of you before you spoke up again. "I just wanted to say...thank you for bringing me here. You probably saved my life."
Blood rushed to his face as he smiled, a part of him wanting to boisterously accept your thanks, shrugging it off as what any hero would do, but for whatever reason, it didn't feel right in this case. "You're welcome, I was pretty worried about you, ya know?" You nodded in response. This felt so awkward, Usopp could hardly stand it. "Well, it's getting late and you're probably tired so-"
"I can't sleep." You corrected him, looking more passed him than at him. You were incredibly tired, but your anxieties wouldn't allow you and rest.
"Oh," he stiffened at your sudden melancholy, before softening with pity. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"I just don't want to be alone." you muttered somberly, pulling your blanket higher over your legs.
"Well," he cleared his throat, looking to the ceiling with a slight blush. "M-Maybe I can sleep with you tonight?" His eyes widened when he realized his poor choice of words and he immediately back tracked. "N-Not like with you, with you, of course! Like in the next bed, I mean. Or in the farthest one if that's what you want, or not at all or-"
"Would you please?" The tenderness and desperation in your voice was almost enough to startle him. "Please, I just won't want to be alone."
His gaze softened as he cast it over you. "S-sure." He confirmed, standing to set himself up in the adjacent bed. As he sat down, untying his hair and kicking out of his shoes, you took a second to take him in. You rarely got to see him in anything casual, let alone pajamas. His hair was wild and free, yet well maintained, forming a spherical mass of coils that spilled from a shallow widow's peak. He lacked any of his common accessories, only dressed in a baggy tan t-shirt and sweatpants. He looked so comfortable as he massaged his fingers into his scalp, releasing some of the residual tension from his ponytail.
Without noticing your admiration, he easily slid beneath the quilt on his bed, snuggling down onto his side, facing you with a kind smile. "Goodnight, (Y/N)." he cooed, letting his eyes fall heavy.
"Usopp?" you whispered guiltily. He had just tried to go to sleep and you were already waking him. He popped one eye open with a snicker, only to have his expression fall into frozen shock when he found you, scooted as far away as you could, holding your blanket up, inviting him into your bed.
"Y-You want me to..." he stammered, failing to find appropriate words for the situation. He didn't want to admit to having the wrong idea.
"Can you could sleep with me?" you asked timidly, unknowingly batting your lashes. "It's just that...my bunk is a little smaller than this so the bed feels so big."
"I could take up some space. I-If that'll help you, I mean." he answered, already sitting up. Before long, he was in your bed, laying on his back, stiff as a board. You wanted so badly to lay your head against his chest. Maybe this was a bad idea after all. "Are you sure this is okay? 't's a little cramped." he admitted with a nervous laugh. Your cheeks burned from embarrassment with the possibility that you were making him uncoverable.
"I'm sorry, I just want to be close to you." you confessed, the urge to cry welling up in your chest, though you suppressed it.
"Really...?" he asked, in awe that someone like you wanted to be near someone like him so badly. You nodded bashfully, before rolling over, already too humiliated to deal with his need for validation. A moment later, you gasped, feeling his strong arms encase you in a loving cage, pressing your back to his chest. "Is this okay?"
You nodded again, feeling your heart swell in your chest. "That feels really nice, actually." you sighed, shimmying your shoulders to be even closer to him. "If I told you I liked you right now, would you leave?"
"No," he confirmed, nuzzling his forehead against the back of your scalp. "If I told you that I think you're the most dazzling woman I've ever met, would you still want me here?"
"I would," you answered, bringing your hands to cover your face, as it was glowing far too bright for your own good. "If you said that, would you mean it?"
"Every word. I wish I could tell you that you're the most inspirational person in my life, that just looking at you're pretty smile makes me want to be the best man I can be." he confessed, his finger tips gently tracing up your arm to find your hand and interlacing with yours. "But I'm worried you'll think I'm a creep."
"I wouldn't think that." you mumbled, pecking a kiss onto the back of his hand. "Would you think I was a creep if I told you that I've wanted to kiss you since the day we met?"
"No," Usopp grinned form behind you, gently breaking away from you to pull you back to face him. "Would you think I was a creep if I told you I wanted to kiss you right now?" You breathlessly shook your head, looking into his eyes as both his hands came up to cup your cheeks, sweetly connecting his lips to yours. Though the contact was short lived, the meaning behind it spoke volumes. He held you like this for a moment, his thumbs just caressing your cheeks lovingly.
"If I told you I loved you, what would you say?" you finally asked, entirely entranced in him.
"I'd tell you it's about time."
