Then in Trespasser, when the mask finally fucking slips and it feels like SUCH a vindication (esp with British Fem voice, the voice of like 90% of fem dalish inquisitors).

And of course the advisors are all shocked and aghast and meanwhile outside Sera's hidden behind a bush hooting AND hollering going "That's my girl!" while Dorian looks on with pride - only for Blackwall to suddenly start laughing his arse off. What, they thought he didn't know? Of COURSE he's known the Inquisitor's got a mouth that'd make the seediest tavern in Thedas blush, but usually he hears language like that in....places more intimate.

Scandalized and disgusted, Sera and Dorian flee, and Blackwall makes a note to let the Inquisitor know HE won the bet.

I find it so funny how Blackwall, when unguarded, is like, "fuck, balls, tits, whore." But 5 minutes from getting to know the lady Inquisitor, especially if she expresses interest in him, he's like, "My lady, I am but your humble servant, undeserving of your care or attention. Indeed, my sword-arm, nay, my whole being is at your disposal. I shall lay down my life at your word, or mere gesture, a look, even. I am but a stool ready to be stepped on."

Set Scene: The Wounded Coast, sun high in the sky, in a clearing surrounded by trees. Sebastian and Garrett Hawke out hunting, two rogues, ambushed by bandits that are quickly dispatched, but not quick enough.

“Wiggle your fingers. I need to make sure it’s not broken.”

Garrett tries. Maker, he tries, but his movements stutter at the elbow and explode into pain. He tries to bite back the cry of pain, tries--

“It’s alright, Hawke.” Sebastian’s Starkhaven drawl had always been something of a comfort, a reminder of easier times. Now it’s like music to Garrett’s ears, warm and comforting, even better. “Easy.” His fingers hover near Garrett’s cradled elbow, his useless wrist, bent at a troubling angle where it had caught a bandit’s shield in the ambush. “Let me see.”

“Just-- wait,” gasps Garrett, surprised at the breath missing from his throat. “It hurts.” He realises, “It is. It’s broken.”

“I know.” Sebastian sets his fingers, ever so gently, on the skin on his arm. “We’ll get it braced, slung up, and we’ll take the walk back to Kirkwall nice and slow.”

“That-- that sounds good,” he agrees, managing a smile. Sebastian doesn’t look concerned, as steely as ever, but worry rings through behind his eyes, in the rumble of his deep voice. Maybe it helps. Maybe it doesn’t.

Sebastian fashions him a brace out of two arrows, the arrowheads pulled off -- a task he knows will take hours to re-do. And a brace out of the leather in Hawke’s pack, coarse but will do the job. A little like them.

“On three.” Sebastian’s voice is not as slow now. His hands are on Hawke’s arm, his eyes holding Garrett’s gaze. “One, two--” Crack.

Garrett doesn’t even try to stop the scream this time, the clearing turning white as the pain runs up and down his arm, blinding and hot. “It’s okay, Hawke, it’s okay. It’s done.” Sebastian is holding his good shoulder, squeezing it tight. His gaze is piercing, strong.

It carries him through lifting his arm into the makeshift sling, and Sebastian helping him to his feet. He’s a little wobbly, but Sebastian is steady, firm. He loops Hawke’s good arm around his shoulders and Garrett leans into his side instantly, grateful for the relief. His legs are shaky, tired.

His heart is all the opposite.

“Come on, Hawke,” says Sebastian, in his ear. “Let’s go home.”

as someone who cares about hawkeye the most out of all the marvel characters, comic and movie combined, i agree nat should've been the one to live (although as a hawkeye fan i WILL say comics clint is better... :( they did my boy wrong in the mcu)

i know im so sorry, they really just did fuckall with his character for 7 years and then for some reason acted like a 48 year old man getting a mohawk was significant character development

the main things to learn to be good is how to one shot kill them post-hook, and also how to judge distances for your alternate fire to also one shot KO them. my friend can do the 2nd and it kinda horrifying as Hog.

Warden & Zevran: “Did you think I was gonna leave you like this?”

Set Scene: The party camp a mere few hours after Zevran’s assassination attempt on the party.

“Are you alright?”

Surprisingly, it’s the Warden herself, peaking through the fabric of his tent. Zevran has been busying himself pitching said tent, and now, cleaning the grime off his leathers from where he’d been prepared to die -- in the mud and the dirt. 

“Why, I’m perfectly fine,” he responds, trying to hide his surprise. And suspicion. Perhaps she would finish him now, quietly? Have him let down his guard?

“You haven’t tended to your wounds yet,” she notes. No, she is not peaking into his tent, but hovering in the entranceway. 

"It was the next item on my long list of ‘surviving a suicidal assassination attempt’. After pitching a tent within your target’s camp.” The party had shared an elfroot potion with him, after helping him up, but some cuts and bruises lingered. Perhaps he looked worse than he thought. “But no, I’m quite alright, Ser Warden. You don’t need to concern yourself with me.”

“Did you think I was going to leave you like...” She looks him up and down. He’s definitely looking worse for wear, then. “... this?”

“That’s very kind of you, Ser--”

“Nolla.”

“... That’s very kind of you, Nolla. But I’m alright.”

She doesn’t appear to believe him, but she doesn’t seem to care for arguing it with him, either. “You know where to find me, if not,” she says. “We don’t have a healer with us, but my time in the aliengage taught me a thing or two about tending wounds.”

And then she disappears back out of the folds of his tent, as quickly as she had appeared.

nooo but s2 was so good especially bc we got a lot of focus on other characters (like blue beetle! he was honestly a highlight of s2) and the plot was *chefs kiss*

Dragon Age 4!

So, we know from the teaser trailer that the Red Lyrium idol is gonna be a big part of the next game, and is in some way connected to Solas (does it belong to him, or is it a tool that could be used to destroy him?). This artefact has had quite the journey:

- Bartrand steals the item from the deep roads, where it was found on a pedestal. No amount of natural magical resistance prevents him from the idol’s corruption (assuming that the idol is ‘magical’, though dwarves can suffer from lyrium addiction- there’s a bit from Origins where one of the merchants in Orzammar displays lyrium addiction). He sells the idol to Meredith and keeps a shard for himself.

- Meredith fashions a sword ‘Certainty’ from the idol. This corrupts her greatly and she suffers from the potency of the red lyrium. Hawke and Varric discover Bartrand and either kill him or send him away. The red lyrium shard can be made into either a rune (by Sandal) or an upgrade for Bianca.

- After Meredith is defeated, her corpse is taken to the Black Emporium (red lyrium-ified) and the sword’s fate is unknown. Later, Samson appears to wield the same sword named ‘Certainty’, so it can be assumed that he picked it up likely as a successor to Meredith. I don’t remember anything about Hawke and Varric vowing to destroy the idol, either before Meredith takes it, or after she fashions it into a sword, but I could be wrong.

- During Inquisition, it is discovered that the lyrium idol was not unique. Corypheus uses it to strengthen his Templar cronies, via Samson’s control. Whether or not the Inquisiitor decides to side with the mages or the Templars is irrelevant- they can still loot the idol-sword ‘Certainty’ from Samson’s body either in Haven or in the Arbor Wilds. If this sword really is the idol, then it can be assumed that it has particular qualities not seen in any other piece of red lyrium- there’s a whole dlc pack of red lyrium weapons!

-We know from the Descent dlc where normal lyrium comes from and also how important it is. Could the longevity of the red lyrium idol indicate that it is the source of the substance? That all red lyrium comes from this one, Andrastean-looking idol that seems to avoid destruction? That might be an obvious one!

- It’s hard not to miss the symbolism of Meredith, wearing her spiked coronet, reminiscent of many images of Andraste found around Thedas, and on the idol itself.

- All this aside, there doesn’t appear to be much that connects the red lyrium idol to Solas. I have a feeling that the connection is to do with what the idol looks like- a figure of Andraste, which as others have pointed out, is similar to that of Mythal/Flemeth. It’s probably way to early to speculate!

Note: I used the Dragon Age wiki for some of the specifics- I don’t remember every detail off by heart!
