KnY does an excellent job of establishing and building its characters and their traits, familiarizing them to us one way, and then using this knowledge to make us emotional when they act differently than we expect. There are many moments in the story where this happens, like when Inosuke finally says Tanjiro's name correctly just as he admits he can't bring himself to kill him, or when Zenitsu fights Kaigaku while fully awake. We see it in Kanae's seriousness when she encourages Shinobu to keep fighting and in Tengen's surprising gentleness with his wives.

But my favorite example of this is in chapter 179. Prior to the moment where Sanemi loses Genya and breaks down, pleading with God to save his little brother, we've never seen anything like this from him. Until that point, Sanemi has been portrayed as a menacing, violent, and volatile figure, someone who is fiercely independent highly competent and incredibly strong. He even dismisses his brother for being weak takes out a group of Lower Moons in one blow and goes up against the second strongest demon in the world. While we’ve seen him get emotional before, like shedding frustrated tears at the loss of the master or a quiet tear while reading Masachika’s will, we’ve never seen him truly fall apart. Not even when he lost his entire family in one night, he just stood there empty, like a puppet.

This made the moment in Chapter 179 hit even harder. When I first read the manga, I didn’t exactly favor Sanemi. But when this scene happened, I was struck by how upsetting it was to watch this formidable man beg for something he knows is impossible. Seeing someone who's the embodiment of hurricanes be helpless like that was heartbreaking. It hit me so hard because the story had built up his image so well up to that moment, making the contrast all the more impactful.

Chapter 11

“Oh my.”   

You opened your eyes quickly realizing you had fallen asleep on Inosuke’s chest. You looked up to see Shinobu in the doorway. Inosuke was awake but didn’t say a word.  

“Glad to see you’re awake Mr. Hashibira... Well, it seems you are well attended to, so I'll be on my way.” Shinobu announced and walked out of the room.  

You felt your cheeks warm up, you hadn’t intended to fall asleep here or get caught. You started to get up.   

“Good morning” Inosuke said.  

“Good morning,�� You responded sitting on the edge of the bed. “My apologies I didn’t mean to fall asleep here. I’ll get started on breakfast I'm sure you’re hungry.”  

“I’m starving!” He said. “But first... You said once you fixed my wounds you would kiss me again.”  

Inosuke was right, you had promised him that. As happy as you were that he wanted to kiss you again, you felt your heart begin to race. Without the adrenaline you had running through your system last time it was a lot harder to approach him.   

“What are you waiting for.” He said impatiently and grabbed your wrist pulling you back on to him. He smiled seeing the shock in your eyes. “I’d do it, but I don’t want to give you a bloody nose like last time” He said grinning.  

You were taken off guard by his boldness but relieved that he was willing to take initiative. It made you feel less nervous.   

“The trick is to be gentle Inosuke. You don’t want to knock out the person you’re trying to kiss.” You said letting out a small giggle.  

“Hm..” Inosuke grunted. He couldn't remember being gentle with anything his whole life. You moved slowly closer to his face.  

“This is so slow.” He said.  

“Sometimes that makes it better.” You said, moving even closer and placing your hands on both his shoulders while you moved in to slowly press your lips to his. You stayed a few moments before pulling back to look at him. He looked at you with wide eyes and his cheeks slightly pink.  

“Is that it?” He asked. You felt the blood drain from your face. What did he mean by that? Was that bad?? Or was he asking for more than just a kiss?  

“Um I uhh wh-” You stammered trying to collect your thoughts.  

“I want to try.” He said and grabbed you by the front of your uniform pulling you closer till you were pressed up against him and he harshly pressed his lips against yours. You felt your heart beating so fast it felt like it would burst out of your chest.   

He let go and looked at your shocked expression.  

“How was that?” He asked.  

“A little rough but sometimes that makes it better too.”  

Inosuke smiled at your words. “I can hear your heart beating fast and your pupils are big. I don’t have a lot of experience, but I know that means you like me.”  

“Yes I do.” 

“I like you too." He said simply. You smiled and kissed his cheek before leaving to get started on breakfast and your tasks for the day. 

Every moment after that you were careful to be fully present for and enjoy. After all, Mitsuri was right. You knew it would only be a matter of time before Inosuke was healed and back on missions. Which meant soon you’d have to face the fact that every time he left there was a chance he wouldn’t make it back. That was just the nature of being a demon slayer.   

Eventually that time did come. Insouke’s wounds had healed, and he had finished his rehabilitation training. With the time you two had together you learned more about each other and gained a better understanding of each other. You even taught Inosuke how to write three words: I am ok. This way he could send letters on his solo missions when another demon slayer wasn’t available to help him. Of course, Inouske always held the pen in a strange manner as if he was still confused by it.

You both stood outside the gates of the Butterfly Mansion as Inosuke prepared to leave. 

“Well I guess you’re ready to go.” You said trying not to show too much worry on your face. 

“Mhm.” Insouke nodded. You pushed his mask on top of his head and kissed him to send him off on his journey. When you began to pull away, he grabbed you around your waist and pulled you closer, pressing his lips hard to yours. He never did learn how to be gentle, but you didn't mind.

“Don’t look so worried.” He said when he pulled away. “I told you. I’ll always come back. Besides those demon's are no match for Lord Inosuke.” A grin spread over his face just as his mask fell back over his head. “I’ll see you soon” he finished and took off. 

You watched as he vanished and while feeling both worried and sad you couldn’t help but feel extremely grateful for the new relationship you found with Inosuke, and excited for what the future might bring you both.

Wendy meeting the Kamado twins part 2!

Tanjiro is at the Butterfly Mansion to see Inouske and Zenitsu, and Zenitsu screaming about disliking to have medicine while Aoi was annoyed.

As Wendy appeared she healed Zenitsu and Inouske wounds, Zenitsu is in simp mode again XD he jumps off of the bed quickly and came to Wendy to ask her marrying him made Wendy embarrassed and overwhelming unsure what to do, Tanjiro is disappointed with Zenitsu as Tanjiro was grabbing Zenitsu’s shoulder and pulling him away as he said “Zenitsu stop it, you’re making her uncomfortable.”

As Tanjiro turned around noticing the Tokito Twins staring at Zenitsu with their angry glare, Tanjiro gasped slightly and nervously said Zenitsu should run away. When Zenitsu turned around and saw the Tokito twin’s rage glare at him made him screaming in fear.

Yuichiro says “hands.off.of.her.now.” And Muichiro drags Wendy behind him and his older twin to protect her from Zenitsu.

-Wendy wasn’t sure of what to make of the two young men she had been asked to heal, after they had both arrived with Tanjiro and Nezuko, after a mission where all three of the boys had been severely injured.

-Inosuke was very handsome, but from what Shinobu told her, he had a mouth on him, and that he would be at least a little charming if he just stayed silent all the time and wore a boar’s head for some reason.

-Zenitsu would talk in his sleep, mumbling out Nezuko’s name like he was worried about her, which warmed her heart, thinking that he was a good person.

-It wasn’t until he woke up that she learned this wasn’t the case, when he sat up suddenly in bed when she walked in, bringing Inosuke some more food who cheered before chowing down.

-He immediately threw her off by leaping out of bed and grasping her hands between his own, kneeling before her, looking so lovestruck as he grinned up at her, making her uncomfortable.

-Tanjiro knew that this was going to end badly, so he tried to do damage control quickly, approaching Zenitsu, putting his hand on his friend’s shoulder, “Zenitsu- she’s uncomfortable. Please let her go.”

-Zenitsu just grinned goofily at Tanjiro, “Don’t be silly Tanjiro- we were meant to be!” Wendy was stammering, her face bright red as she tried to get away from him, with little luck, his grip was stronger than it looked.

-A pair of dark auras appeared behind Zenitsu and Tanjiro immediately stepped back, holding his hands up, he had tried to help, taking a seat on Inosuke’s bed who was still stuffing his face.

-Two hands, one from each twin, came to Zenitsu’s shoulders, who turned, still grinning goofily before he froze, his look changing to one of shock, then quickly fear, seeing the two very pissed off Hashira twins there.

-Yuichiro was grinding his teeth, seething as he saw the tears pricking at the corners of Wendy’s eyes, “Let. Her. Go. Now!” and as soon as her hands were free, Muichiro rushed forward, scooping Wendy up into his arms, holding her to her chest as she relaxed, at least a bit as Yuichiro had Zentisu by the front of his yukata, threatening him.

-Inosuke knew that Wendy was strong, as he had seen her fight before, and to see these two Hashira defending her, “You two must be really strong if you’re defending Twin-Tails- FIGHT ME!!” as he leapt up onto the bed.

-Tanjiro grabbed the back of Inosuke’s pants, trying to hold him back while Wendy’s eyes were swirls, overwhelmed by everything happening.

-The twins made the decision that one if not both of them had to stay with her at all times, since nobody wanted to respect Wendy’s boundaries or the knowledge that she was already taken.

How Dating Giyu Tomioka is-

-Both of you are scared to lose each other. 

-Regret not spending enough time with each other. 

-During the end threw yourself towards an injured Giyu tending to his wounds and trying to shower him with every bit of affection you could muster. 

-Grieving the losses of your comrades together side by side. 

-Spending four years married, with each other not wanting to lose the little time, visiting close friends family, and attending events. 

-Finding Joy in each other’s presence.

— Nezuko watches the two of you play a lot and you can tell she wants to join in so sometimes you tag her in to fight at your side!!! Tanjiro is laughing so hard he can hardly breathe, overwhelmed with joy as the two most important people in his life put him through his paces.

— While he definitely prefers to express his affection in softer ways, he learns to love roughhousing with you. He knows that you only do it because you want to be close and because you trust him, and he’s content with that.

❥ 𝐊𝐘𝐎𝐉𝐔𝐑𝐎 𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐊𝐔

— When you first express your desire to play fight all you’ll get is a puzzled tilt of his head in return. He’ll genuinely ask you why, and when instead of explaining you get flustered he is suddenly very intrigued.

“I must confess I do enjoy that expression on your face, little flame!” (If you know you know) he all but announces to half the compound, which has your entire face boiling with embarrassment. Seeing his comment has only extended your distress, his eyes soften fondly. “Take your time.”

The best answer your monkey brain can conjure is “because I love you!” blurted out in a hurry, startling a few nearby birds into flight. No one’s quite as startled as Kyojuro however, whose face is now equally ablaze at your confession.

“And I want to be close to you,” you added, fighting through the early relationship jitters to get your point across. The best way to a healthy relationship is through communication, right? After all, Kyojuro had no right to be so damned cute all the time. It made you want to wrestle him into an embrace every time he said something unintentionally endearing—which was often!

“I think I understand!”

— Honestly, he’s a natural at it. He knows his own strength and how much he can use when tussling with you without causing any real harm. Even if you really wouldn’t mind a few token bruises to remember those silly moments by. 

— He’s a little nervous at first, he did grow up with a brother but Senjuro had always been gentle in his affections towards him. Though as soon as he sees just how much fun you’re having he’s absolutely on board! Enamored when you can’t help but giggle as you’re rolling out of reach, lunging for his sides, and jumping onto his back in an attempt to bring him to the ground.

— Most of the time between efforts of fending off your playful shoving he’s nuzzling against you, trailing kisses wherever he can reach. Laughing heartily along with you as he all too easily weakens you by attacking your sides with incessant tickling until you’re wheezing so hard you can hardly breathe.

— He rarely initiates roughhousing, but he will never deny you. It’s a great way to lift his spirits when he’s feeling down. It’s a rare occurrence, but he appreciates those small gestures the most. Close proximity and your beautiful laugh? What more could he want?

— He now knows your desire to roughhouse is a sign of affection, so he cherishes being able to let loose and play with you. Though most of the time neither of you is concerned about winning. Your playfights all too easily turn into spirited cuddling. (He’s just so loving and I- *sobs*)

— Until you decide to test some newfound strength and surprise him by flipping him flat on his back with his hands pinned to the ground. Now… now it’s different, a different kind of longing in those bright golden eyes you’ve grown to adore. One of blatant heat and desire. He always desires you but especially so when you assert yourself. 

— Does this lead to you desperately rutting against one another and tearing at your clothing? Couldn’t say. (Absolutely)

— He thinks it’s adorable that you want to roughhouse with him and will actually encourage you to try! He’s so disrespectful about it though 😭 can hold your attacks at bay with a single hand over your face. Likes to egg you on until you really want to smack him and then acts surprised when you slip out of his grip and head butt his chest full force.

“Why you little…” 

— Now the game is on! Prepare to roll around struggling for the upper hand until he feels he’s put you in your place! Instead of being discouraged by your loss, you’re more determined to win the next round.

— His instincts are razor sharp so don’t think you’ll ever truly get the jump on him with a sneak attack, even when he looks to be none the wiser. He always knows you’re there and foils your plans at the last second :(((

— You can usually get Suma and Makio in on the action and get him rumbling with laughter as you all wrestle in a pile. 

— Hinatsuru prefers to watch with a soft expression as her lovers fight and then crawl into the cuddle pile that follows as the four of you are gasping for breath. Suma always claims a place at your side afterward so she can whisper new schemes into your ear <3 she’s your partner in crime.

— Tengen could likely fend the four of you off all at once if you ever did convince Hina to join, but he loves the triumphant cheers you make when he admits defeat.

— Now if you just so happen to have even greater strength than him? He’s shutting up so fast cus please toss him around and rough him up a bit, I’m telling you he gets off on that shit—especially if you’re being “flashy” about it. Probably goes without saying that your roughhousing often turns into something else.

Funny scene. (Easter)

Wendy Marvell was in Shinobu’s room, she was knocking the door asking if she was there, there was no noise but she smelled something strange in that room, she opened the door and she smelled the strange chemicals.

Maybe Shinobu made a mistake as she left the room? She thought..

Wendy Marvell left Shinobu’s room, it was night time and Wendy was exhausted.

She goes to sleep, with her boyfriends Yuichiro and Muichiro.

Until..

The next day, Wendy feels something strange about her, she goes to take a look in the mirror, her eyes are widen in shock and she realizes she has bunny ears and a tail, she screamed a little that made the Tokito Twins awake, they run to look for Wendy, they thought she is in trouble but they noticed her ears and her tail.

Wendy was embarrassed, as her ears are going down from embarrassment as she said. “Please don’t look at me like that!”

I wonder how the Tokito Twins, and the Hashiras, Kamaboko Squad react when they saw Wendy like this?

Zenitsu should be careful not to say something inappropriate, that could make the twins going jealous-

And Inouske is so confused as hell—

-Wendy shrieking from the bathroom is what got the twins up and out of bed in an instant, thinking she had been attacked and they rushed to her, finding no threats to be seen but… there was a pair of rabbit ears on the top of her head now, and a cotton tail at the end of her tailbone, twitching softly.

-Wendy was touching the tears, her eyes wide and full of tears as she tried tugging on them, finding that they were a part of her, like her arms or legs.

-Muichiro couldn’t help but stare, in awe of seeing something like this while Yuichiro had come over, his hands replacing her own, feeling them.

-The twins were quickly KO-ed when she looked shy, her face red, “Don’t- don’t look at me like that. And don’t tug- they’re sensitive.” They couldn’t handle how alluring she looked like this.

-Yuichiro went to get Shinobu, with the hopes that she would know what’s going on with this situation while Muichiro was dealing with Wendy crying.

-The situation became worse, for Wendy at least, when Tanjiro’s little group came over, as they were supposed to train with the twins today.

-Nezuko adored seeing the rabbit ears, thinking they were adorable as she carefully pet them, trying to make Wendy feel better.

-Inosuke was confused, wondering how she was turning into a rabbit, “Teach me your ways twin-tails! I’m gonna be a real boar!!” which led to him chasing her around, making her scream and cry more.

-Tanjiro was polite, doing his best not to stare, speaking kindly to Wendy, curious about how this happened, but she didn’t know, “I just went to Shinobu’s yesterday to drop off some paperwork, and there was an unusual odor in the air but other than that nothing was out of the ordinary.”

-Zenitsu quickly approached, taking her hands in his own, “Nothing about your beauty is ordinary, these new features of your just accentuates the-” WHACK!!!

-Yuichiro, who had just arrived back, holding a rabbit in his arms, wrapped in Shinobu’s haori top, quickly disciplined Zenitsu, not allowing him to flirt any more with Wendy.

-Wendy was distraught to learn that this rabbit was Shinobu, as she kicked Inosuke in the chin, sending him flying back after he grabbed her, demanding she change him into a boar.

-Yuichiro showed off the notes he found Shinobu by, “Seems like this was supposed to be a new poison, but something went wrong and well… this happened.”

-Tanjiro, being a good bean, trying to help Wendy feel better, “So is there a cure for Wendy and Shinobu?” Muichiro, who had taken the notes, nodded softly, “Looks like it will wear off in a day or so.”

-Wendy was revealed to hear this, but until then, she was going to remain inside, the less people that saw her like this the better, and Shinobu was the same way, she didn’t want anyone seeing her like this.

-Wendy did feel a bit better, later that night, when she was cuddling with her boyfriends, when they both told her that she looked adorable like this, which made her flush, hiding her face, but also hiding her soft smile.
