I'll Never Let You Go - Art Challenge

Hello there! I just wanted to share a little art challenge I had in mind for this story that I'm sharing. It is a long fanfiction that follows the events of Super Mario Galaxy if you're interested in reading 🌟

If you'd like to participate as the story unfolds, I have a little challenge for you:

Take any character/group that appears in the story (or game), and draw them looking up at the comet like Mario is in the cover!

O~o~O

The characters who physically appear in the story so far don't deviate from Canon. And I don't have a preference for who you draw, even if you want to draw your favorite boss, the most minor of enemies, or even Mario again! Here is a list of some of the major characters that appear just to give some ideas:

Mario, Luma (or Lumas), Princess Rosalina, the Toad Brigade, Luigi, Bowser Jr., King Bowser, and Princess Peach!

One final thing; this project has a hard deadline. If you would like to participate, please share it here on Tumblr, tag me and the project with #INLYG Art Challenge, and have it shared before August 8th! That's 08/08/2024 ✨️

My entry for @drones-of-innocence’s art challenge!

It’s Princess Peach! I specifically thought of the last part of Chapter 4 when drawing this one, where she’s thinking about the shared dream she experienced with Mario, but I also thought about how scared and lonely she must be all the way out in space, and how worried she must be for her beloved hero…

It’s pretty simple looking now, but I do want to color this one! I was just afraid I wouldn’t make it in time for the deadline.

Here's my submission for @drones-of-innocence's art challenge for her fanfic "I'll Never Let You Go"! 😁🌌✨ This honestly took me way longer than I intended to for personal reasons, but I'm just glad that I was able to submit it before the deadline! 😭😅

Also, I did a purple galaxy cuz that's my favourite colour (and I just had to) but I did add some blue and black in it, although it doesn't really look like a galaxy since I'm kinda inexperienced with galactic backgrounds. I should've also made it a bit darker and I don't really know how to draw a comet, either, but it's okay! I didn't worry about perfectionism too much because I just wanted to get this done before the deadline and I was mostly doing this for fun, anyways! 🥲 But I am still happy with the end result of it! 🤗

Anyways, the look I was going for (if it wasn't obvious already) was Mario weakly reaching out towards the comet as he imagines his "Special One" (as quoted in the fanfic) waiting for him and praying/thinking about her hero. In other words, as Mario looks up at the comet, all he can see is Peach in distress, prompting his further determination to reach her as soon as possible. (I don't know, I'm horrible with words, but I hope you get the idea, lol). Luma is also seen buried under Mario's cap because I thought it was cute and he does hide under Mario's cap a lot, haha. 🥺❤️

But yeah, I believe that's everything and that this art is still submittable enough. 😂💜 I had a lot of fun with your challenge though, Drones, and I'm glad I could participate in this! Thank you so much! 🥰

I've been planning on drawing this scene ever since I read chapter 4 of Drones' story I'll Never Let You Go. I think it's only a minor spoiler? But I'm giving you a heads up just in case. If you haven't read this story yet but like Mario and especially Super Mario Galaxy, you're really missing out!

It's been mentioned in my author's notes, but I finally wanted to share this. This is the playlist that goes with my story I'll Never Let You Go corresponding to the chapters so far. The last chapter dropped, so now this story is officially finished. What a bittersweet feeling it is. Glad I could make some art for it both thanks to my own desire to show this fic the appreciation it deserves (the chapter 4 illustration I made) and to Drones' INLYG art challenge (Peach and the Lumas).

@drones-of-innocence once again, congratulations! I'm so happy to have found a fellow Muse fan in the Mario fandom of all things. Pointing out the Muse references you included in this story was always a pleasure. Thank you for the positive feedback you left on some of my art too!
