Something New Part 2

[I didn't expect to turn this into a multichapter story... but here we are. Anyways here's more of baby Dante. That is the baby's name. Also shout out too @earthfire-75 for giving me the idea to highlight Spite's dialog in purple. Genius.]

Lucanis held the newborn against his chest as he read his book. One of the few moments little Dante was quiet and sleepy, Lucanis was going to take advantage of it to get some reading in. 

Spite was sitting on the couch a few feet away from where Lucanis was standing. Just silently watching the infant. That’s all he’d done the past 4 days since the baby was born.

“It doesn’t do anything.” Spite complains.

“My son is not an it.” Lucanis corrects him, seeming annoyed.

“It doesn’t care what I call it.” Spite said, appearing much closer to him. Lucanis held onto the infant a little tighter now watching Spite rather than his book. He was feeling a bit uneasy, much more than he has in a long time with Spite.

“You think I would hurt it?” Spite asked, more of an accusation than a question.

Dante started to wiggle a bit, readjusting his tiny body. Both looked down at the infant. “You just seem very irritated with him.” Lucanis says. “I’m being cautious.”

Spite was visibly annoyed at that, offered even. Instead of continuing though the demon just let out a huff and vanished. Retreating into whatever part of Lucanis’s mind he would hide in when he wasn’t getting his way.

“He’s so quiet.” Teia commented, looking down at the baby that Rook was holding. Dante’s little face scrunched up at the sight of a new person. Teia just laughs and Rook sighs but is still smiling.

Rook had taken a short trip to the casino to visit Teia, the first time she’d gotten out since Dante was born. “He’s not usually this quiet.” Rook tells her. “He was crying all night.” “That’s pretty normal from what I heard.”

“I know.” Rooks says quietly, looking down at the infant. Dante had become very wiggly during their conversation and Rook tried to adjust how she was holding him. “I might have to write to my mother and apologize. I don’t know how she did this four times.”

Teia quietly laughs at that. “How has the demon been handling all this?” She asks, sounding a bit more serious.

Rook had started to notice Teia rarely ever referred to Spite by name. Usually calling him ‘the demon’. Rook was tempted to correct her but she was too tired to care that much. It was a topic for a different day.

“Oh Spite.” Rook says quietly. “He’s been… curious. Confused mainly though. A bit frustrated but he usually is when he doesn’t understand something.”

Teia looked a bit concerned at that. She had seen Spite in a fight and how he could get when he was “frustrated”.

“He’s not-“

“No.” Rook quickly says. “He’s just confused. It’s fine. He just needs time.”

Teia didn’t seem any less concerned by that answer, but she also didn’t want to argue about it. “Just… if there’s ever an issue, me and Viago are here.” She reminded Rook.

“Thank you, but I’m not too worried.” Rook says, smiling a little.

Look if I ever said they're together in any universe I never meant healthily okay. In some, the one is trying to kill the other because of betrayal!! (couple goals fr). Toxic inky ribbons hits different for me okay

I have no idea how to start explaining this uhhhhhh okay I like drama btw this will be dramatic

-> Start out as a boss/assistant relationship until they get closer and become lovers -> Azul realises that's a bad thing (a potential weakness for his enemies to use against him) and decides to send Jovie out of the country so she can be safe. -> Jovie interprets this as him "throwing her away" so she steals from his house and fucks off by herself (mix of hurt and pettiness). -> Azul sees this as a betrayal and that she used him (got close to him enough to trust her into his house, and when he said they couldn't continue she just stole and left). -> Hunting her down to kill her and she fucking runs for her life (literally). -> Azul still cares about her and low-key hates himself for it because it's the reason he hasn't pulled the damn trigger on time yet. It's as if he can't be in control because of her and he loathes it. -> Jovie was expecting to be hunted down and part of hers doesn't know why she's still trying to escape, why she hasn't let him shoot her already. But giving up was never her strongest suit. -> They're hurt, broken-hearted and insane. -> Will probably end with one of them dead LMAO there is likely no back-to-lovers here.

Steve and Eddie are different in many ways, but they are very much the same in many others. Eddie is a ball of energy that often needs to be redirected, has strong opinions and shows his love through unexpected bites. Steve is the most comfortable when he's the host, he's a people pleaser, more easy going in conversations and so easily stressed when his routine gets fucked up.

Yeah, they're different. But what they have in common is that they know how to mold into each other's energy to brighten their days. To put a smile in their faces.

And they both love surprises.

Steve gives into Eddie's chaotic energy a random Friday after work because he knows Eddie's had a rough week, so he makes a plan. That night, Eddie came home to find all lights off and a single note in the coffee table:

Babe, I've got a surprise for you, but I need you to get ready. Look under the table.

When Eddie does, he finds another note attached to a black cawboy hat and one of his bandanas.

This is for the vibes, you gonna want to wear that tonight. Look in the fridge.

Eddie's smile keeps growing as he goes through the house, note to note finding props, building anticipation, his smile so wide his cheeks hurt now, until he was fully dressed as a cawboy, with a belt full of foam bullets and two guns. The last note is in the back door.

How you dare to come back to this place, you filthy bandit. You think you'd be welcome here after last time? You really think the sheriff is not here to put an end to your life, you goddamn traitor? Cross this door, and fight me, you coward.

Eddie's smile faded as he got into character, so goddamn ready to play the villain. He put the bandana across his face, covering his mouth and nose. Eddie crossed the door and found the back yard with with several hay bales (did Steve rent those out?) scattered all around, and waiting patiently, sitting in one of them, there was Steve, all fully dressed as a sheriff (even with a shiny gold star in his vest!), with a cigarette in his mouth, already wounding Eddie with a mischievous smile.

They played for a couple of hours until the roleplay got heated up and they ended up making each other come behind the hay bales, still in character. They only dropped the act when they came back into the house and they got each others clothes off, where the fun continued as themselves.

They didn't sleep that night. Eddie's smile lasted for days on, and Steve's love bites mark all around his body took a day or two to fade.

Yeah, Steve was a fucking perfect host.

Unbeatable, so.

Until Eddie took revenge.

•cuphead takes big bites and fills his mouth to the brim, while bendy takes very very small bites

•bendy is the only one that likes cuphead with facial hair

•bendy complained to Cala before he even realized he liked cuphead which usually left him being teased about how he probably has a crush on him

•bendy realized he liked cuphead when cup somehow pissed off a bunch of raccoons he was screaming as he was running away from them And bendy just looked at him with a soft smile thinking how silly he is , as he realized he didn’t make fun of him he also realized his crush and just glared at Cala calling her a witch (she will never let him live it down)

•cuphead realized he was in love with bendy when he caught him singing to himself and suddenly he understood his feelings and just started cursing “no! God ! Cuss! Why!?” Straddling poor bendy

•speaking of cuphead is the only person (besides Boris) that bendy sings around

•cup will often flirt with bendy in different languages around other people (-Felix) so they wouldn’t notice and while bendy doesn’t understand him he knows the tone and the look in his eyes which is enough to leave him flustered (not to mention he kinda likes when cup speaks a different language)

•bendy was very nervous about kissing cuphead because that would be his first true kiss and he didn’t want to mess it up But cuphead got badly hurt in a fight making him unable to leave his bed and once bendy finally got to see him he threw himself on him kissing him in relief he pulled away immediately but before he could even think about apologizing cuphead pulled him back begging him to kiss him again (that’s how mug finds out about them)

•that one scene when phoebe sees Monica and chandler but it’s holly and Cala

•cute picnic dates at night cuphead talks about starts while bendy feeds him

•cuphead calls bendy “darling boy” when he messes up something

•bendy will sometimes call cuphead an old man to annoy him

•bendy was pretty obvious at first when cuphead was flirting with him before they started dating But now that they are together his constantly getting frustrated and embarrassed by it

After that disaster of a mission, accidentally introducing Billy to some of the league and the quite frankly embarrassing interrogation that came after it in the briefing… well, Marvel was eager to leave the watchtower and never be in control ever again while they were there.

This meant that Billy was left to take care of the mess they’d both made with the league, who all apparently thought Marvel was a necromancer. Marvel had managed to get away without giving anything important away by completing his report using the speed of mercury and leaving as soon as the debrief ended. Unfortunately, the gods were becoming increasingly frustrated with the two avoiding the league because it meant they were getting antsy with the lack of social stimulation.

That's not a simple question (it never is with those two, is it?)

I was gonna save some of the Ren lore for later, but y'all can have a teaser now I guess. Just for you, anon ^^

(edit: it was not just a teaser. I wrote a lot. Oops.)

Yes, there is something happening between Ren and Martyn. They really want to be together (platonic? Romantic? Who knows) they want it more than anything, but it's difficult. Aside from their obvious lack of communication skills, Martyn just... isn't in the lab very often. He's one of the more popular subjects for renting. And then, of course, Ren has his own problems.

Martyn was one of the very first subjects. He remembers when Grian would laugh. He remembers when Taurtis and Netty were still around (no one knows exactly where all those subjects went...) It took him a while to get over Netty leaving, they had been married before they were both captured and brought to the lab, so grieving her was difficult for Martyn.

But then, one day, there is a new batch of subjects, Ren among them. He was so... Outgoing. So starry-eyed. So certain that this facility couldn't keep them down. They would escape! They had to!

And Martyn had missed this kind of light in his life. It has been so sad. Grian had been silent for months, no laughter to be heard. Jimmy was always limping and injured.

Ren was so bright, so warm, he was the sun. And Martyn had such an adoration for the sun.

But Ren doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. His talk of escape made him a threat, and the Watchers hadn't decided how they would torment him yet. But now they felt pressured to decide fast.

First Ren was drugged. Drugged until his brain was mushy and malleable. And then the Watchers decided it would be amusing to make their new dog hybrid believe he was a real dog. Make him bark, teach him tricks, have him eat from a bowl.

Maybe someone would find their new puppy entertaining enough to rent, but if not, Ren would still be useful. Ren would be an example. This is what happens to subjects who try to escape. Your thoughts melt, you are reduced to a play-thing, an animal.

No one has spoken of escape in a long time.

Not where the Watchers can hear at least.

Ren gets his own play space, his own food, and a room away from the others. Puppies don't sleep in human beds, and they certainly don't eat human food. But the other subjects can visit him.

Martyn is there. Martyn is always there. He tries to break the conditioning, he tries again and again to get Ren to answer him. But Ren's only response is to beg for pets.

Martyn despairs.

But the world keeps going, and Martyn still has to work. He gets rented often, and it's an easy distraction for him. Don't think about Ren. Don't think about the sun. You know your despair only fuels those Watchers.

Martyn is rented for many things, but mostly parties. He's a skilled bartender, multitalented in tricks and shows. He's one of the few subjects who is allowed multiple outfits, most of them too skimpy for his taste. Sometimes he's rented as a waiter, a dancer, or an escort. Once he was rented for a children's birthday party.

Sometimes he is rented by a masked man who calls himself a Listener. He makes Martyn promise not to tell the Watchers about who he is, and then tells Martyn various bits of information. Sometimes it's the lab layout (to help in an escape attempt) or sometimes they give him medicine to reverse the effects of the drugs some of the other subjects are on. Depends on the day. The Listener doesn't rent often.

And Ren has a few renters too, but much less frequent than Martyn. People are curious. Most of Ren's renters currently are repeat renters, who want to see him again. It's not a bad life for him. Simple, comfortable, lots of attention.

It's not like he can think straight enough to be bothered by it anyway.

He can only think well enough to remember Martyn, the one who always visits him and pets him. He misses Martyn's often.

So... Yes. There is something between them. It's complicated.

New Dragons Rising Article!

(EDIT: I blurred out the episode title last minute. I was feeling paranoid about it. Lol. And I made some last minute grammer fixes. Enjoy!)

The episode titles and descriptions for Season 2 Part 2 just dropped today! There's TONS of new info and lore to unpack. So let's get started! *SPOILERS BELOW THE THE CUT!*

1: So first off we have The Shape of Motion. (This title is clearly parodying The Shape of Water. Lol.) It seems they will be picking up a new baby dragon! Riyu is gonna be a big brother! How cute!💖 I hope Arin finds his parents too. Poor guy.😔

2: Now we have Enter the City of Temples. The Ninja must have found out about the tournament and decided to go there. But why? We're not sure yet. I would think they would want to stay away from the tournament, considering what happened in the last one.😅 Also, Kai and Bonzle are attempting to escape. So that's cool! You guys will get to see them too!

3: Next is Gathering for The Feast. Some how I get an ominous feeling about that title for some reason. Lol. Also, looks like the Ninja's earned their invites somehow and are now in the tournament! And it looks this is the episode where we'll see the return of some old Elemental Masters!

4: Now we have Inside the Maze. This episode is VERY interesting. So much to unpack! Because it's the first mention of some new artifacts. The Horns. Specifically, The Dragon Horns. Arin and the others must have heard about them in the last episode. What are these horns exactly? Are they like instrument type horns? Or literal dragon horns? We'll have to wait and see. We also have a new character called Frak! And finally, something ALL you Jaya shippers have been waiting for...

5: Next is United We Fall. Oh boy! It's named after one of my favorite TSFH songs! Haha! Just kidding! Anyways, poor Wyldefyre is pitted against CINDER?!?! The guy who broke her leg?! Yikes! Looks like it didn't go well either. And the Ninja will have to win they way back into the tournament through a race!

6: Now we have Truth and Lies. Finally a Wu mention! But it doesn't look good. I have a feeling Ras is lying though. Or not. And we'll get some racing action from the rest of the ninjas!

7: Next is The Shattering Sword. Sounds like something from Lloyd's vision, huh? And we get to see the new character Roby giving Arin a museum tour and some new info on the source dragons! (It would be hilarious if Roby was working for Ras the entire time.😂) And here's how to pronounce Roby's name, if you're curious.

8: Next is Clues and Suspects! Tons of cool stuff in this episode! Roby has a way bigger role then I thought! There's a new character mentioned named Bleckt? (I wonder if that's a typo?) Also, FINALLY A ZEATRIX MENTION! And they're transferring her powers for some reason? The how and why are unclear. Also, this new character Bleckt is somehow connected to Arin's investigation. And possibly part of The Administration, since they mention he has an office. My guess is that these Dragon Horn thingies were confiscated by the Administration or something.

9: And here we have The Final Game. That doesn't sound good. Arin learns a "Devastating Secret about the Merge" Uh oh. Cole stays behind to protect the Dragon horns! What??? Oh no! Sora faces off against Nokt and Wyldefyre is too late to stop the "Manipulation of the Games!" OH NO. Yeah, this one is gonna be pretty chaotic. Yikes.

10: Finally, we have Elements of Betrayal. THAT'S AN EVEN WORSE TITLE! It's making me more nervous than the last one!

There's a new location called The Monastery of Gates. That I guess these Dragon Horns are at? Arin, Zane, and Cole seems like a fun combination. Should be a cool fight! And it looks like the elemental masters have lost their powers once again are going to be fighting Ras and his wolf warrior army. NoBoDy SaW tHaT cOmInG. Pfft.

Aaaaaaand, that's it for now. Wow! So much stuff! Sounds like it will be a very exciting collection of episodes! Hope you had fun reading this!

First impression/How they met:

How they met:

Azul and Jovie are technically childhood friends. Jovie was originally born in a seaside house near the Coral Sea, where her family lived before moving back to their homeland.  One day, as kids, these two accidentally met by chance at the beach. At the time, Jovie was Azul’s first friend, as he hadn’t met the twins yet. They were friends for a few years until they eventually lost touch after Azul stopped coming to the shore to see her (around the time he started focusing on his studies and weight). They met again in NRC as freshmen (Jovie came as an international student seeking new experiences).

First impressions:

Jovie: (as kids) She was AMAZED by his appearance, much to his surprise. Jovie loves things that look/are unusual, so once she found out merfolk with tentacles exist she was THRILLED! (after reunion) She was shocked, almost didn’t recognise him! Not only because of his appearance but also because of the way he behaved and carried himself. It’s not that she didn’t like him! She was so happy to see her old friend again, he was just…different, in both good and bad ways.

Azul: (as kids) Terrified, someone saw him, a human no less! He was incredibly flustered by her overexcitement and kindness, even if it initially overwhelmed him. He quickly got attached to her and swam to see her every day. (after reunion) He immediately recognised her. Of course he would, in his eyes, she hadn’t changed a bit. Because of that assumption, he assumed he wouldn’t be interested in her again— until he noticed how able she was to catch him off guard constantly, then his feelings started to change.

Azul calls Jovie: Angelfish (main), Angel, Dear, Darling (the simple and classy options).

Jovie calls Azul: Azzy (main), Zuzu, Sweetie, Honey, Honeypie, Moonbeam, Baby, Baby boy, Babe (the list goes on, she likes calling him by various ones).

Primary Love Languages/PDA:

Azul: (giving) Acts of Service, Quality Time, Gift Giving // (receiving) Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time

Azul wanted to keep up appearances initially, so he prevented most of the PDA Jovie initiated. However, as he got more comfortable in the relationship, he let Jovie be more physically affectionate with him in public (it still flusters him, though). However, they're still much more affectionate in private.

Jealousy?:

Jovie is much more jealous compared to Azul, and it stems from her abandonment issues. She fears Azul may find someone who is less "difficult to deal with" and leave her. This fear makes her extra clingy and possessive since she worked hard to be with him and she's terrified of losing him (again). She tries to improve this aspect of herself since it does push Azul away a few times.

Azul doesn't get jealous as much as he gets envious. He feels envy when Jovie pays attention to someone else for qualities she usually admires in him (ie. intelligence, looks etc.). He'll analyse in his head why they did that, and try to adopt those qualities himself. Jovie usually notices this behaviour and reassures him they still think he's the most beautiful and intelligent person in her eyes.

Idea Dates:

Azu: He prefers when the two of them enjoy quality and peaceful time together, often accompanied by coffee or tea. Whether it's relaxing at the lounge after closing time, in their bedrooms, or just taking a stroll around the campus, he cherishes the time they spend alone together. He also loves to organise special dates, putting in the effort to make them memorable for her. For example, he'll set up a tablet at the harbour, surrounded by candles with food already prepared (example). These surprise dates are often planned for special occasions or simply when he wants to show how much he cares for her with a grand gesture.

Jovie: She adores dates where she gets to dress up— restaurants, bars, dance events etc. The process of finding her best dress and doing her make-up brings her joy, both for herself and because of Azul’s compliments. She's delightful to see Azul all dressed up too, taking every chance to shower him with praise (his fluster expressions are always worth it after all). However, unlike Azul, she doesn't necessarily prefer for things to be "nice and neat"— quite the opposite, in fact. If rain starts during a date, instead of finding a way to get back to school as Azul would suggest, they will pull him into the rain for a dance (example). There is nothing better than dancing with him, even in the rain (and even if it means getting sick because they're accustomed to the cold like Azul).

Azul:

Favourite: He loves her ability to think outside the box and find solutions to problems quickly, even with unconventional means. She will go against the professor's orders to not touch a ruined potion, only for her to fix it and prevent a mess inside the classroom. Admittedly— there are times when she scares him, but the majority of the time her free spirit ends up being useful.   Least Favourite: Although he loves that she can freely solve issues, this free spirit of hers is often the source of many headaches. They will often do things completely on their own, often not taking the time to listen to him on why she may be wrong or what she’s about to do is a bad idea. Although, he knows Jovie’s actions are her own and the best he can do is advise her— even tho it’s annoying when they won’t listen.

Jovie:

Favourite: Jovie absolutely adores Azul’s determination to put effort into everything he does. Whether it’s for his studies, for the lounge or even their relationship they know he’ll give his 100%. They very rarely care about things being “perfect”, they value effort, and Azul puts plenty of that in everything. Even if a date he planned somehow goes wrong she won’t care at all, he still tried his best for her, and that fact makes her love him even more. Least Favourite: The way he tries to make things transactional. She understands why he does it, and they truly try to be as patient as possible with him, but damn i,t it does get annoying. He’s been improving since the start of the relationship, but doing things for him in the beginning would be exhausting, because he’d often worry she’d expect something in return from him (she didn’t).

Trivia:

🐙 They enjoy spending time together alone after the mostro lounge closes, enjoying a nice cup of tea and just talking about anything that comes to mind. 

🎀 They're the only person who can give Azul a gift, or do him favours, without feeling indebted to her (however it took him a while to get there, and he still tries to find ways to “repay” her actions).

🐙 Jovie hoards earrings. She ADORES earrings, she has 3 holes in both ears. No wonder Azul's gifts tend to be...well, earrings! (sometimes necklaces too).

🎀 Jovie sucks at giving gifts (and often doesn't have the money for them) so instead she asks Azul what they wanna do for the day. Whatever he says, it happens, just a special day where they can do whatever he wants.

🐙 Azul knows that for Jovie words often aren’t enough (even though they’re appreciated). So Azul makes sure he shows how much he cares about them through various actions (taking food for them at the cafeteria, remembering the things she tells him, offering to carry her books etc). It's the small things that get her.

🎀 If Azul wants to convince Jovie to do something all he has to do is smooth talk/flirt with her and she gives in. However, he’s not any better than her, they’re both each other’s weaknesses.

🐙 They're in the same class! Azul will usually playfully scold Jovie for not paying attention in class. Jovie can get help from him with homework (for a price of course) (the price being a date) since she struggles with the non-practical aspects of lessons.

🎀 Azul did an excessive amount of research on Jovie's culture so he's prepared for the day they'll tell him "my family wants to meet you". He thinks it'll prepare him to make a good first impression if he's knowledgeable about their culture (It, in fact, does not help him regarding his stress over actually meeting them). 

🐙 The first time they publicly held hands was during the SDC, and he initiated it, causing Jovie to freeze in place for a moment as they tried to process what he had just done (he’s very private about the relationship, so it was a surprise).

🎀 She's the only one allowed inside the bathroom in cases where his potion has worn off and he needs to wait for the next refill inside the bathtub.

🐙 With Azul’s birthday being on Feb 24 and Jovie’s on March 1, they spend Feb 28 as their own personal date to spend time alone between their parties.

🎀 Occasionally, when she hangs out in his VIP room with him, Jovie will quietly hum (mostly songs from her homeland). He finds it extremely relaxing, although sometimes he may get distracted from work and be enamoured with her voice.

🐙 Jovie likes to sneak into his room in the middle of the night and crawl under his blankets to sleep with him. 9 times out of 10 he knows she’s doing this, but after the first 3 times, he just stopped reacting and let her be. 

🎀 Jovie occasionally enjoys preparing meals for Azul, and she's developed the habit of cutting his food into hearts. Whether it's veggies, meat, sweets, etc., she will make sure they're heart-shaped. Originally, they started it as a small way to help him deal with his eating issues.
