Nightmare & Sleepy are such an iconic duo thought I’d do a few sketches featuring them as famius rock duos and figure why not start with the one of the best, the Captain & Tennille. My sweaty hands ruining shit yet again
Namely, the blank piece of paper I was trying to inktober all over. We don’t assume an anticipated rant over a project we’re working on is a spoiler, do we? Like if I tell you I’m drawing blank for a specific prompt, is that a spoiler? Are there spoilers in the inktoberverse? Fuck that, I’m doing Daisy Please-pull-your-hair-back-so-I-can-figure-out-your-facial-bone-structure Johnson. And the paper is gonna be so wrinkled and wet from my sweaty hands and you’re gonna have to deal wiTH IT.
Well, currently I’m having some trouble moving my fucking wrist so hold the thought of getting the drawing tonight. I’m icing it and I’m gonna apply some smelly cream, tap my figurative heels together three times, throw some fairy dust on it as well and say a little prayer for it, see if it helps. Be right back.

Inktober day 25 - Sum up your life in one verse. (longer explanation & testimony under the cut)
Mark 5 is a story I see as my own testimony. I was raised in a Christian family, knowing rather than believing. I didn’t care to really improve my relationship with God. Around the time I was 13, I learned what depression was, and it freaked me out enough that I didn’t want to tell my parents about it. When I was 14, I was deep in it - self-loathing, self-harming, self-destructive. The idea of love was so far from me that I figured the best way to find it was to move in with God, become an angel myself. But then I tagged along with my sister to a church conference called Dare2Share. I had gone the year before and thought it was a fun little social event - a short message, a little skit, a few songs, some community service. In 2014, I went again, and the format was the same as always, only this time the message was personal. The message was about suicide. The skit was about a self-harmer finding Jesus in the fact that he, too, has scars. The songs were sweeter, telling me I still belonged to him and that whatever demon was telling me to hate myself was a liar and it was time to end it. That was the day I fully committed to Jesus. He literally saved my life that day.
The man in Mark 5 remains nameless. He, like me, went through all of this day after day. And then he saw Jesus - and here’s the important part - in the distance. Jesus didn’t take the sharp objects out of his hands. He didn’t have a conversation to talk him out of it. He didn’t hug him or touch him or even look at him. The man simply saw him there, far away, and ran to meet him where he was, leaving behind his old ways and closing the gap himself. The small glimmer of hope spotted far in the distance was all the man needed, and all I needed, to turn my life around for the better. Now I am not ashamed to say I love Jesus with all my heart, because he has done this for me and has shown mercy to me. And I wholeheartedly believe he can (and will) do similar miracles for you, reading this, too. All you have to do is ask for a little hope, and he will reveal himself to you in ways you never thought possible. That’s a promise, because I have faith.
(Please message me with any questions! I’m very happy to answer them.)

Inktober day 5 - Verse that reminds you of someone (brief explanation under the cut)
I have a friend who I only sort of knew last year, but she wanted me to go to some bible studies with her over the summer and we eventually went on a mission trip to New York together, where we got a lot closer. I learned that this is the verse that she lives by since she has CP and has learned to love her body by remembering this verse and that God has created her exactly as she is, even if it’s hard.

Inktober day 8 - A verse that has multiple meanings to you (explanation below the cut)
The first meaning I get from this verse is one that most people seem to get - God’s love is absolutely unconditional. Zero conditions. You name it, God still loves us more that we can possibly comprehend.
The second meaning comes from the specific words translated from Hebrew - death and life are opposites, height and depth, present and future. Angels and... rulers. This is one of those verses I use to support the civil religion theory - the idea that patriotism, if gone too far, is idolatry.
The third meaning I pull from this is the idea that it ends, in all translations I’ve seen, saying “anything else in all creation.” Nothing God has created can get between us humans, which he also created. We are part of creation! So nothing we can do ourselves can get between us and his love for us, nothing anyone else does, and certainly none of his other works can stand in the way.

Inktober day 6 - Verse that reminds you of a specific event (brief explanation under the cut)
When I was confirmed at my church, this was the theme of all of our meetings and discussions. We studied this verse and the surrounding story forwards and backwards, and though it got a little tedious at times, I learned a lot from it!

Inktober day 22 - A verse that blows you away (anecdote below the cut!)
I actually remember the first time I heard this verse. It was at a Christmas service when I was about fifteen, right after we did a little candle-lighting ceremony. I didn’t know it was a Bible verse, actually; I thought the pastor just said that, and it hit me as unbelievably deep and also oddly true. No matter how much physical darkness was surrounding the candles we were holding in that service, the weak little light still broke through it despite how vastly overridden it was with pitch black darkness.
So I wrote that down on a spare prayer request card and went home to Google it. When I read that it was a verse, I actually said, “That’s in the Bible?” No wonder it was so perfectly worded. God is the source of all light, so of course he designed it to parallel what we go through, and what we are capable of. It literally changed my life.
This only means that no matter how dark of a place you’re in, no matter what dark forces are in the world, you are still a light in the world, capable of spreading your flame to others in their hard times and never, ever, being overcome by the darkness.
