IWM Sanitising Tunnels | Industrial Hygiene Solutions Your Business Can Rely On
Tumblr media
You Industrial Washing Machines (IWM) is a leading supplier of industrial washing equipment. This equipment includes bespoke washing and sanitising systems such as sanitising tunnels. We have over thirty years of experience providing industries with reliable hygiene solutions that are both efficient and economical. As a result, we know the industries we serve incredibly well - this includes the catering and medical industries. With these industries in particular, the factor of hygiene and therefore sanitisation is vitally important.
Sanitising tunnel washers
Our range of sanitising tunnels, often known as sanitising tunnel washers, have been specially designed to provide reliable and effective sanitisation. Sold at extremely competitive prices, they are perfect for companies and businesses that have a large volume of equipment to disinfect. We manufacture all sanitising tunnel washers with the idea of being simple and economical to use. At the same time, we ensure they require minimal maintenance.
How does a sanitising tunnel work?
The sanitising tunnel conveys the component directly into the passage. Inside, a sanitising solution with mains water mists onto the components. Users can change the speed of transit through the tunnel so that items that are larger or smaller will stay in the tunnel for the appropriate amount of time. Once sanitised, the machine will discharge the components onto an outfeed table.
Industrial sanitising systems at IWM
Here at IWM, we have a range of santising tunnels to choose from including the SAN100, SAN100E, and the SAN200. SAN100 Sanitiser - This machine is a free standing unit that can accommodate items up to a maximum size of 650mm wide x 500mm high. The water recirculates from an ambient tank which a 1Hp pump powers.   SAN100E Sanitiser - This santising tunnel washer sanitised components in buckets, bags, tins, and trays. It accommodates a maximum size of 450mm wide x 450mm high. You can operate the transit speeds at between one and four metres per minute.   SAN200 Sanitiser - This machine can sanitise all items up to a maximum size of 650mm wide x 500mm high. We have designed it specifically for higher throughput sanitisation so that it incorporates high flooding jet operation. All of our sanitiser tunnels comply with relevant UK and EU standards. Additionally, they are all CE assessed and certified prior to shipment. The machines are supplied with detailed instructions and maintenance manuals.

Frylite cleans up with IWM | A Tailor-Made Industrial Washing System
Tumblr media
We’ve recently created a bespoke industrial washing system for Frylite. Frylite provides bulk oil to bakeries and restaurants in the way of storage tanks or buckets. They also facilitate the removal of the waste oil to be reused for biofuel. The company has recently streamlined its operations with a bespoke washing machine. This has been developed and manufactured by Industrial Washing Machines Limited (IWM). The machine rapidly and efficiently cleans and dries receptacles soiled with vegetable, rapeseed and soya oils. It has replaced a time-consuming and tedious manual process.
Investing in an Industrial Washing System
Frylite have already benefited from an industrial washing system purchased from IWM. Having already invested in two other washers from us, Frylite engaged the creative mind of Mark Keating. Mark is an IWM Sales and Project Engineer specialising in food and drink applications. Together, they proposed a solution for sanitising the heavily soiled and difficult to clean food receptacles.
Customising a Solution for Frylite
“We were using a manual process for washing and we were also drying by hand, which was very time consuming,” explained Gerard Lynch, Maintenance Engineer at Frylite. “We knew we would need a customised solution to automate cleaning, so we approached several companies for their suggestions and prices. Most came back with prices that were surprisingly high. In contrast, the IWM offer was well within our budget, so we decided to place our order with the company.”   “In making this decision, as well as the attractive price, we also took into account our previous experience with IWM,” he continued. “We knew from the machines we had bought from them in the past that their equipment is always well designed and that they don’t compromise on quality.”    “The design and production of the machine took several months because we were continually making changes and improvements,” explained Gerard. “But once we’d finalised our requirements, IWM handled the project very efficiently and delivered our machine at exactly the time we’d been promised.   IWM provided Frylite with a tailored-made solution based on tried-and-tested technology. Constant communication with the customer and the ability to fully understand their requirements enabled IWM to deliver high class results. The industrial washing system is proving to be a real asset to Frylite’s operations, saving the company both time and money.

Leading food manufacturer chooses IWM cabinet washer
Tumblr media
Food manufacturing is a fast-moving industry and, in order to remain competitive, businesses need to constantly find ways of increasing output whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This is why a leading provider of fresh prepared food contacted Industrial Washing Machines Limited (IWM) with a request for a fast, efficient and effective solution for cleaning and sanitizing its 200 litre tote Eurobins, as well as small and large Tonelli mixing bowls. The client first contacted the engineering team at IWM looking for a solution that would guarantee superior washing of the whole of the bins (including the wheels), every single time. The company also wanted to maintain and potentially improve its high standards of hygiene without incurring excessively high costs for energy and detergents. IWM suggested a version of the new EC20-30 single-stage cabinet-type bin washer. This innovative machine, which is the latest addition to the highly successful EC20 range, offers exceptional versatility. It is compatible with Eurobins as well as Vemag skips and buggies, and it accommodates 200 litre and 300 litre bins without the need for operator adjustments. What’s more, the machine can also accommodate the small and large Tonelli mixing bowls that are widely used in food preparation processes.
Tumblr media
To deliver its comprehensive cleaning performance, the EC20-30 fully inverts the bin or bowl and washes the inside with a high velocity rotating spray manifold, while the outside is washed simultaneously with a full surround jetting system. The powerful 15 kW pump fitted to the machine ensures that the washing actions are both vigorous and thorough. The machines were ideal for this application because their flexible control system provides a high level of automation yet allows the wash cycle to be optimally matched to the user’s requirements. Running costs and environmental impact are minimised by re-circulating the wash water from a heated tank via an efficient rotary filtration system that reduces the need for water changes. This also reduces the cycle time allowing the machine to wash up to 20 items per hour. As standard, the machines are configured for a cold rinse, using a solenoid-controlled supply of fresh water from the mains. EC20-30 bin washers are constructed from stainless steel throughout to ensure that they are robust and have a long working life. They feature a streamlined design that is not only hygienic, but also allows easy access to all areas for cleaning and maintenance. Based on proven technology, they are competitively priced and are backed by IWM’s renowned maintenance and support services. “We were in the fortunate position of being able to fully understand and address our customers’ requirements for hygiene and safety combined with efficiency, flexibility and high throughput,” said Carl Hollier, Managing Director at IWM. “This customer needed a washing solution that would accommodate small and large mixing bowls as well as tote bins and tubs used for the storage and preparation of foodstuffs. With strict requirements to prevent cross-contamination on food manufacturing sites, all of the items needed to be perfectly sanitised after each use.” “Our EC20-30 machine delivers on all accounts and it does so without excessive usage of water, energy or detergent. We were able to supply and install the machine within fourteen weeks, and since then the customer has reported increased efficiencies that send savings straight to their bottom line!” To find out more about our EC20-30 bin washers then head to our website today. How much does an industrial washing machine cost?
Tumblr media
When customers first inquire about IWM’s range of industrial washing machines, the first (or maybe the second) thing they ask is “how much does an industrial washing machine cost?”. Sometimes we can give a price for an off-the-shelf product such as a small cabinet utensil washer (from approximately £4,000). But, most of the time the answer isn’t that clear cut.    Buying an industrial washing machine can be compared to looking for a new car. You simply wouldn’t walk into  any car dealership and ask: “How much is a car please?”. You would tell the salesperson if you’re looking for a sports model for cruising on the Devonshire coast. Or, a people carrier for the school run. You’d also tell them if you want an automatic or a manual gearbox. Alternatively, a petrol, diesel or hybrid engine, and whether you need a built-in sat-nav and so on.
So, how much does an industrial machine cost?
Similarly, the answer to “how much does an industrial washing machine cost?” depends on your exact specifications and requirements. For example, you may be looking for a tray washer to sanitise receptacles used for transportation of fish. But, you have very limited space available. In this case, the machine may have to be custom built to fit your plant footprint (maybe a twin lane conveyor for example). At the same time, it still needs to provide excellent cleaning to remove debris and pathogens from the trays. In this example, it may also not be necessary to dry the fish boxes if they are being re-used in a wet environment post washing.   However, you may be looking for very different bespoke cleaning technology if you are an engineering contractor manufacturing automotive components. You might need a machine that is designed to wash oil and machining debris from containers.  This may include special detergent and dosing equipment, oil skimming systems to keep water clean and special filtration systems. Where containers are being used in such an engineering plant to transport metal automotive parts, drying may well be paramount to the overall project requirements.
Things to consider when buying an industrial washing machine
Crucially, the purchase price of the machine is not the only cost you will have to consider. Water, detergent and energy consumption for the duration of the equipment’s life are also important. Some models may have a higher first cost but save you money in the long run thanks to water recirculating technology or a superior energy-efficient design.  The output speed of the equipment is also an important factor to consider to ensure any labour costs are kept to a minimum during its operation.   When inquiring how much an industrial washing machine costs it is worth considering all the above elements. And if you happen to need a complete solution but don’t know quite what it is supposed to look like, do not worry. The IWM engineers are experts at designing and manufacturing bespoke solutions that will work for your business!
