anonymously asking three questions i want to know about you (i'm new to this blog so)

are you in the hetalia fandom?

how are you dealing with the weather rn?

any ao3 fics you're proud of?

oh hey! happy to get an ask, welcome to the blog :D

1. not at the moment, no. i had a very intense period of time in like. late 2022 to mid 2023 where hetalia and hades game was all i breathed, so im taking a break. i think of hetalia very often still, though!

2. as of writing the weather is much better! hope you're doing well too anon

3. usually im only proud of specific paragraphs or phrases in my fanfic. but as a whole, im very proud of my indophil fic, i know your eyes in the morning sun.

it's the longest fic i've written so far! it's also a fic that i consider a product of my time with the seatalia community, discussing our cultures and crafting headcanons and having great fun with the new asean cast. so really i don't think that it's fully mine haha it has a lot of influence from people like desa, koko, kopi, haliya, gemu — i tried to list them all in the author's notes and even then, i think there's still a lot more.

i wrote it knowing that after it was published, i wouldnt be very active in the community anymore. so it's a tribute, and my goodbye, and i also wanted it to be like. a primer to indophil, if that makes sense?

like if someone is just getting into indophil or seatalia in general, i wanted this fic to be like: here's a look into their personalities, their histories, their cultures, their relationships with each other and other characters. honestly that's the reason this fic is so long lmao. i wanted to put in as much detail as i could because i really felt like i only had this one chance to put it all out there.

so i sometimes feel like the romance is bait haha. come here, there's kissing! and surprise! get smacked with some historical hetalia! well i hope people can forgive the way i handled it hahaha

C: Not a bad ship D: I’m neutral on it

Their relationship does go back to precolonial times, and even in the present day they get along very well; if you were to ask Amihan who she considers a friend in maritime SEAsia, the first person to pop into her mind is probably Indonesia. Unfortunately, I personally think Indonesia is more interested in her company than she is in his-- as much as she likes hanging out with her neighbors, she will shaft them the moment Yong Soo calls.

I do think the ship has potential; there's interesting history, especially on Indonesia's end-- aside from the impact precolonial Indonesian kingdoms had in trade and cultural influence in various Filipino polities, and Tan Malaka-- literally the father of Indonesian nationalism-- made quite some impact on Filipino figures during his brief stay in Manila in the twenties. But I personally think as much as Amihan tries to ground herself with her fellow maritime SEAsians and does find familiarity and home with them, her eyes are always beyond them-- and Indonesia is too familiar to her to pique her interest beyond friendship and rekindling old shared ties. Similarly, as much as Indonesia admires her, I do think he's more wrapped up with his other neighbors.

indomal: I like it!! indonesia and malaysia have a lot of parallels and interesting dynamics and also that rivalry makes this one extra compelling😋

indophil: i have a soft spot for indophil esp bc i have a few friends who are into it themselves :3c i wanna draw more of it, but i wanna know more about their history first!
