News of a demon lurking among the entertainment district was spreading like wildfire, infecting the painted lips of every girl in the city as they spent their time whispering guesses on who it might be. It was like a witch hunt, all the detestable characters being accused while the adored ones slipped by without suspicion. No one would dare suspect an Oiran of being a demon, much less the famed Warabihime. But humans were idiots and they didn’t recognize a threat even when it stood in front of them. Wrapping her belt around her waist, Daki took a deep breath. She enjoyed being ogled, admired, yearned for by everyone who laid eyes upon her. She had enough beauty for both her and her brother, and there was a reason she was the jewel of the district. As much as she wanted to hunt and torment the weaklings roaming the street, Daki knew she had a facade to maintain and that required playing the part of the obedient Oiran. But tonight was different. Tonight she was going hunting. She made sure to keep her chin held high, shoulders back and spine straightened in the way that was expected of classy women. But her eyes lingered a little too long on some of the passing faces, mouth watering and fingers twitching with the desire to rip them to shreds. Daki slowed to a stop, eyes locked onto a target as she turned on her heel. As she turned, however, a strange face stood before her--or behind her, rather-- nearly startling her out of her trancelike state. “What the Hell? Watch where you’re going, worm!”
