It has left me wonderstruck and has become one of my favorite places to visit in my hometown. #WidowsOfVrindavan Can you believe, there are people in this world who take you out for a celebration, treat you with an utmost respect, and within seconds run away leaving you alone? Yes, they exist! There are hundreds of such stories you would hear from the widows of Vrindavan. Every day, widows come here from all over India and Nepal, particularly the state of West Bengal, where faith in Krishna is intense. Last year, thousands of widows gathered at temples in Vrindavan to celebrate the spring festival of Holi and broke a 400-year-old Hindu tradition.  Last Saturday, I collaborated with Maitri, a Delhi-based developmental humanitarian NGO to document their annual event which would include a Holi celebration for widows in Vrindavan. The women danced, threw flower petals, and smudged colour on each other in the Maitri ghar which was decorated with balloons and flowers. Meeting these strong women has actually left me in awe. The widows of Vrindavan are breaking rules, they are vibrant and strong.
