Happy Monday #MotivationalMonday! and today is International Women’s Day #IWD2021 and the 110th year of celebrating. this year‘s theme is #ChooseToChallenge - in the messages a challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let’s all choose to challenge. Let’s celebrate women’s achievement. And, let’s raise awareness against bias. A friend of mine posted these quotes and I thought I would share them too. #knoxkeith #HerVoiceIsMyVoice https://www.instagram.com/p/CMKLHdDJ99L/?igshid=12jaynvxp9qmi

This is a truly great video :)
But don’t go down into the comments, it’s just a bunch of men complaining about how women don’t deserve “special treatment” are acting “like children” and complaining when there’s “nothing in the Western world holding women back”.

So in case you didn’t notice, YouTube made a video for National Women’s Day called #HerVoiceIsMyVoice. And of course, gross anti-feminists/SJWs have flooded the dislikes and filled the comment section with gross sexism, misogyny, and transphobia (specifically towards nonbinary genders). (Funny thing is, they’re also complaining of YouTube deleting their comments, like hateful content isn’t against the guidelines)
This is exactly what happened with their #ProudToBe video. Why can’t they just let people be proud of themselves? Oh yeah, it’s bcs when anyone isn’t praising cishet white males, and are proud to be part of a marginalized group, they’re cringy SJWs who deserve to die.
In all seriousness though, I do ask you to like the video, and if you could comment some positivity. We really need to keep YouTube from becoming a toxic community for everyone.

[RANT] Women’s Day hate!?
Tumblr media
Okay, this is absurd. And as much as I realize I’m being part of the problem by addressing the 1% of assholes, I need to express my opinion.
There seems to be a certain hate among some very noisy, very stupid people on International Women’s Day. On YouTube’s much disliked video, I have seen a whole lot of hateful and stupid comments from people who can’t think two seconds without anger taking over their mind.
Summing it up, this video put the emphasis on women supporting each other, leading to a speech by Malala Yousafzai telling she is the voice for many women in the world.
“What’s wrong with that?” You’ll say, as a relatively accepting community. Well, nothing. That’s the point.
First off, before being insulted and called a “feminist” (which, somehow, became an insult), I’m gonna go ahead and say, yes. Yes, me, a white straight male from a western country, am a feminist (”BURN THE HERETIC!!!”). In fact, by definition, most people are!
feminismˈfɛmɪnɪz(ə)m/, noun: the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes
Basically, if you believe in gender equality (and by that, I mean, equality of opportunity and treatments), you are a feminist in some way.
But wait, there’s more. If you are somehow aware and, I hope, outraged of the fact that, in some countries, women are treated like animals, like objects, like “less than men”, then, I hate to break it to you, but you ARE a full-on feminist.
But that’s the thing, isn’t it? Why is it so negatively connoted? Well, let me present to you the bane of the 21st century, affecting everyone (yes, even you, reading this without paying attention), the mostly unknown, yet very simple psychological phenomenon: illusory correlation.
A little experiment: you know how every time you go to the bathroom after taking a shower, you step on water with your socks? Annoying, right? Happens every. F**king. time!! Well, no, actually, it doesn’t. Your brain just didn’t register the many times it didn’t happen. It’s normal, the brain does that, when nothing of importance happens, the memories of mundane, thus normal events aren’t just worth taking memory space. But while you were reading my statement, some of you were like “Oh yeah, I totally relate”, because you remembered when it happens, and overlooked the “normal”. You ONLY remembered the bad times it happened, and, by laziness, figured “Yeah, I don’t recall it not happening, therefore, it must happen every time!”.
This is exactly what’s happening with feminism. As many of you are aware, like in any movement, there are some VERY NOISY feminist extremists. We’ve all seen the attention given to Julia Hartley-Brewer after her tweet accused Emma of not being a true feminist. We can all remember an event where a so called feminist went too far. And for some people, better than the MANY times feminists actually did some good. And in the same way some of you thought they wet their socks every time they went to the bathroom, others will remember every feminist to be some kind of crazy, men-hater, angry woman. Illusory correlation.
But that’s not the end of it. Because of this bad image feminism is getting, some good deeds for women’s rights across the world aren’t labelled “feminism” anymore, thus reinforcing the belief that feminism does more bad than good. It’s a vicious circle.
And it does have a solution: let the idiots win, change the name, go for “gender equalitarism”, thus removing the stereotype of it only being about men. After all, the name only remains because of the historical aspect of women fighting for their own rights, which they mostly achieved! Well… not really. It can indeed be argued that, in western countries, women have basically achieved equality. Given one generation, the stigma will have mostly disappeared among the working class, who will then raise their children accordingly. Some might think that there is no need for feminism anymore, thus the renaming.
However, what the same idiots tend to forgot is that, equality hasn’t been achieved everywhere. There (in Pakistan, Mauritania, Sudan, to name but a few), women are FAR from equal to men. There, feminism as it was a few decades ago is more than needed. And people tend to forget that. They don’t see past their neighborhood, and they don’t see the point of the movement still being about women, if not of the movement altogether. That’s not a good thing. if we change the name, and dissociate us from its historical meaning, we will not be able to raise awareness of the necessity of it internationally. People will forget, live in their bubble.
I agree, once we achieve the same equality than in western countries everywhere in the world, we should change the name. But until then, for us thinking about it more than 5 seconds, the name “feminist” needs to remain as a reminder that it has not been achieved everywhere.
End of rant.

Just watched the #HerVoiceIsMyVoice video
And I got a few things to say, so here comes a rant.  What is with so much hate on this simple video. Everyone in the comments are talking about how woman are equal, that this video is bs cause it doesn't relate to men and that if men made one just the same they would be heavily criticized. Well no duh it doesn't relate to men, there is no international mens day, no #hisvoiceismyvoice. While current woman, in most modern countries, are viewed as equal, it wasn't always like this. At one point woman were oppressed, at one point woman were paid less, at one point woman were controlled by men. Men always had the ability to do what they want, yes they have stereotypes and yes it can be difficult with the expectations young boys have to live up to, but at least they always had choices, at least their opinions always mattered, at least they wren’t silenced and beaten when they talked.  Maybe women aren’t oppressed anymore, but are they not allowed to celebrate their freedoms? Can girl not be happy that times have changed! This video is about aspiring young girl to achieve what they want, not oppress boys who already have a lot of people to look up to and have always had more. At one point in time girls were viewed as weak, pathetic, useless without a man, while men were always, while also expected to be strong and went through their own hardships, at least had more of a choice and were not viewed as opinion-less shells worthless without the other sex by their side. As I said, it's not like this anymore, at least not in modern countries, but it was. Allow woman to celebrate, allow women to have this one god damn day to say "Hell yeah! We can do what we want to now! We're independent now! Our choices matter now!" One day out of the entire fucking year to celebrate how far woman have come and how hard they worked to get to this point. For fucks sake, let them have this! And let them have a 1 minute video to share how much they’ve done. To show the woman stars who have achieved so much despite a lot of criticism. Let them take one minute, one day, to do this.
