Even if the wording is different, Morpheus's message is as true now as it was back when it was first written.
The machines have gathered an army, and as I speak, that army is drawing nearer to our home. Believe me when I say we have a difficult time ahead of us. But if we are to be prepared for it, we must first shed our fear of it. I stand before you now truthfully, unafraid. Why? Because I believe something you do not? No. I stand here without fear because I remember. I remember I am here not because of the path the leads before me. But because of the path that lies behind me. I remember that for 100 years we have fought these machines. I remember that for 100 years they have sent their armies to destroy us. And after a century of war I remember that which matters most. We are still here!
Tonight let us send a message to that army. Tonight let us shake this cave. Tonight let us tremble these halls of steel and stone. Let us be heard from red core to black sky. Tonight let us make them remember. This is Zion! And we are not afraid!
For the lgbt community. For the women. For the black community. For the immigrant community. For every ethnicity and gender that is and will be attacked for the next two to four years. We have been here since the beginning. And we will remain here long after the hatred and bigotry has passed.

GAY ICONS CESAR ROMERO
The man who would someday be one of the most famous Jokers of all time was born in New York City on February 15, 1907, the son of a Cuban mother and Spanish father.
In his early movies, Cesar Julio Romero played Italian gangsters, East Indian princes, and other character roles. But the 6’2” tall actor was handsome and soon was featured as a Latin Lover. By 1935, Romero starred in "The Devil is a Woman" opposite Marlene Dietrich.
Cesar Romero was the quintessential "confirmed bachelor”, often seen out on the town escorting actresses and other beautiful women to movie premieres and night clubs. And he was fully prepared for all that night life. At the time it was reported that Romero owned more than 30 tuxedos, 200 sport coats and 500 tailored suits.
“You see, very, very often, I was out dancing with one actress or another. And that got press. Even when it didn’t, the whole town knew I was a dancing fool, and since I couldn’t very well dance with a man, they saw me dancing with a lady, and… what they saw was what they got in their heads.”
Romero never married. Some sources say that Cesar Romeo was gay who lived with his sister and conducted discrete affairs with other men. Other sources say Romero's homosexuality was Hollywood's worst kept secret.
Tumblr media
Among his list of probably lovers were Tyrone Power, Gene Raymond, Van Johnson. Stories of these actors as being gay or bisexual have circulated for years so this is easy to accept. (But to be honest I find it hard to believe Romero performed oral sex on Desi Arnez as reported in the book “Hollywood Gay”.)
Cesar Romero seemed the least likely actor to be cast as The Joker in the 1960s Batman series. But there he was, with his signature mustache covered in think white make-up (he refused to shave it) in 22 episodes and one movie.
“We have a lot of fun doing this show... It's a part that you can do everything that you've always been told not to do as an actor. In other words, you can get as hammy as you like and go all out. It's great fun, I enjoy it.”
Romero died of a pneumonia-related blood clot on New Years Day in 1994 in Santa Monica, California,

some of my thoughts on race in iwtv (since there’s been a shit ton of discourse this week)
armand being indian does Not absolve him of anti blackness, but him being a child slave adds an extra layer of context. it enhances him as a character. to see that a victim can also become a perpetrator if they go unchecked. lestat’s privilege as a white man is also very important to this adaptation. his husband is a Black gay man in the south, while he’s white and bisexual. despite him being openly bi he’s not under nearly as much scrutiny because of his whiteness and ability to still “pass” as straight. claudia, being stuck not only as a 14 year old girlchild in body but as a 14 year old BLACK girlchild and then discovering that she also likes women is a hardship that none of the older vampires in her life would understand. because they’re MEN. and yes they’re all absolute fucking monsters full of evil but they move differently in the world because of these very human factors.
louis being a black man in two extremely different gay interracial relationships doesn’t absolve his partners of anti blackness. they both do some micro aggressions that made me, as a black queer person, a bit uncomfortable. again, lestat doesn’t see such human limitations like racism and homophobia as an issue bc he’s an extremely wealthy white man in America. and some of the same goes for daniel, who didn’t have a romantic relationship with louis but still managed to slip some Old Man Racism into the second interview.
don’t act like they’re not evil monsters. they are! and that’s the literal point of the show, these gay people fucking suck as people! and i love them all!

Something something, if you want to attempt "political lesbianism" for the 4B movement you have to love all women AND understand that not all men are threats to you.
YOU HAVE TO LOVE ALL OTHER WOMEN.
You have to love black women
You have to love Asian women
You have to love Indian women
You have to love Native women
You have to love all women of color
You have to love bisexual women
You have to love women who have fucked men before
You have to love women who have fucked a hundred other people just for the fun of it
You have to love women who are sex workers
You have to love women who are strippers or pole dancers
You have to love transgender women
You have to love women with different ideologies from you
You have to love women of all different religions and beliefs
YOU HAVE TO LOVE WOMEN IF YOU WANT TO ATTEMPT POLITICAL LESBIANISM.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT NON-WOMEN ARE NOT ALL A THREAT TO YOU EITHER.
Not all cis men are a threat to you
Not all non-women are a threat to you
Not all trans men are a threat to you
Not all MALE BUTCHES are a threat to you
Not all MALE LESBIANS are a threat to you
Not all nonbinary people are a threat to you
Not all Masculine presenting people are a threat to you
Not all Bigender people are a threat to you
NON-WOMEN AND NON-FEMININE PEOPLE ARE NOT ALL A THREAT TO YOU.

Hi I'm sorry for the incoming rant but I'm so frustrated and I need somewhere safe to yell. This is insanely long so I 100% understand if no one wants to read all this.
It’s so fucking ironic that people are trying to make publishing more friendly towards queers/women/POC/disabled people/etc. but at the same time they’re turning publishing into a fucking minefield of discourse.
I'm an autistic, bisexual woman with multiple mental illnesses and a learning disability and I'm absolutely terrified to publish anything.
Everyone keeps going “We love books by minorities! Hashtag own voices! We love to support minorities and their stories! Even if you’re not a minority, we love to see authors making characters that are! :)”
But they certainly don't act like it.
They see people like Amélie Wen Zhao or Tess Sharpe or Isabel Fall get harassed relentlessly and they go, “Well if people dogpile someone over something it was obviously because that person did something Bad And Wrong™ so if you’re a Good Person™ the twitter masses won’t have to punish you :)” except in reality that’s not at all what happens.
If your experience is not generic enough to fit every single person in a group, you’re obviously writing an unrealistic stereotype! How dare you write about your personal experiences as a mixed race Indian if not everyone can relate to it? What about the Indians who grew up in India!? You’re erasing their experiences!
You have to out yourself to prove that you’re one of the Correct People™ who’s allowed to write that experience. Oh, you’re writing a trans character? Please describe your gender, in detail, so we can know whether or not you’re Allowed or if you’re an Outsider who we need to punish. Oh, you can’t come out, because you might be killed or disowned? Well, no #OwnVoices clout for you, we don’t want your book.
Your character needs to be a Good Minority™. They cannot be angry or violent or rude. If they are, you’re clearly saying that all of those minorities are angry and violent and rude and not just that one character.
There are four additional rules you absolutely must follow at all times to prevent harassment, and all of them contradict each other:
If you’re not [minority], you need to have [minority] in your stories, because they exist and it’s bad if all your characters are [not minority].
If you’re not [minority], you cannot have [minority] in your stories, because you’re not [minority] and clearly, you’ll never be able to understand how [minority] thinks and acts because you’re not them.
If you’re not [minority] you can still have them in your stories, but they can’t experience any discrimination at all, or talk about their culture or experiences with being [minority] because that’s not your story to tell and you’re profiting off of their trauma. No, you’re not allowed to do this even if you hire ten sensitivity readers that confirm these experiences are realistic and correct.
If you’re not [minority] you can still have them in your stories, but you need to show their experience with discrimination, and have them talk about their culture or experiences with being [minority] because if you don’t, then you’re basically just taking [non minority] and pretending they’re [minority].
Also, there’s an additional surprise bonus rule: Sometimes people will just want to destroy you for no reason, so watch out!
They’ll take things from your story, remove them from their context and then present them as the most horrific, problematic thing possible in order to create a hate mob.
Sometimes, though, they don’t even know what they’re talking about. People who are not part of a minority group (or not the one relevant) will see something, go, “Omg? Problematic?” and post it on Twitter so they can say, “Um guys wtf is this shit? Are you fr? Can we talk about this?”
And the worst and most horrifying part, people will blame YOU for the harassment campaign!
I’ve literally seen people say, “Well if someone calls you out on Twitter you should admit you did something wrong, apologize, and tell them you’ll do better :)” as if that’s not the most insane, victim blamey shit.
Like, I cannot fathom seeing a marginalized author get torn apart by a mob, get sent horrific death threats, and have their career and life ruined, only to say, “Okay but they must have done something Problematic. Have they tried publicly flagellating themselves to appease the people who are threatening to break into their house and kill them?”
People just sweep it under the rug and pretend that it’s not a big deal, and say, “Twitter’s not real, it doesn’t matter!” as if thousands of people harassing you and sending you threats isn’t massively damaging to someone’s mental health. Like, this is the kind of shit people kill themselves over, and it's apparently no big deal because "Twitter's not real"? What?
Writing is supposed to be fucking fun! Showing your beloved story and characters and work to the world is supposed to be enjoyable!
But instead of writing my story and just enjoying the process and adoring my characters, I’m sitting here, absolutely terrified, trying to make sure I give people the least amount of ammunition to destroy my life as possible.
One of the main characters in my story is vaguely based on me. I love her with all my heart, I think about her all the time, I want people to love her just as much as I do.
But instead of having fun writing about her, I’m waking up in the middle of the night, heart pounding, thinking to myself, what if she’s too problematic?
Will people get upset with her saying the word “cunt” or bathing naked with men (and thus having her tatas out) and accuse me of being sexist or catering to the male gaze or not being a Good Amazing Feminist™? Will people call her a pick me?
Will people get upset with her being bisexual, but ending up in a “straight” relationship with the male character? They have a five year age gap, is that too much? Will people think he’s a predator or abusive? Is their relationship toxic?
Will people think he’s a creep for flirting with her and getting into her personal space and telling sexual jokes, even though that’s how I want someone to flirt with me?
What if people think she’s not autistic enough? Will people get mad that she’s ~glorifying violence~ for not becoming a pacifist and admitting that violence is bad and yucky at the end of the story?
I need to make sure she spends ten paragraphs explaining exactly why she works as an assassin. I need to sit cross-legged and whip my head around like Dr. Strange in that Avenger’s movie so I can imagine Every Possible Discourse Outcome™ and make sure she debunks everything people could call problematic.
I need to change that. I need to remove that. I need to make her sanitized and good enough so that I'll be safe.
And then repeat this thought process, with every other minority character in my story (and there are a lot).
--
Things are bad, but if you stay off of book twitter and do not write YA, you're a lot less likely to face this level of drama. There are always exceptions though, like Fall.

hello! i saw you talk abt queer desi literature and was wondering if by any chance you know of some queer tamil novel/literature recommendations? totally fine if not, have a great day<3
These are the only ones coming to mind, it's a bit difficult tracking down primarily own voices writing in South Asian queer literature:
The Truth About Me: A Hijra Story by A. Revathi (non fiction, memoir, trans fem author) – this one is a really detailed and powerful story about a Tamil actor and activist who fled her home as a teen and joined a hijra community. it's obviously rather depressing, and not exactly a story of queer joy, because it depicts the lived reality of Indian trans women outside of the urban queer elites, but it's also an incredible story.
Funny Boy by Shyam Selvadurai (fiction, historical, gay author) – a novel about a gay Tamil boy growing up during the 1980s phase of the Sri Lankan Civil war. full disclosure, insofar as my knowledge goes, Selvadurai identifies as Sri Lankan-Canadian (his father was Tamil) and I'm fully aware of how the 2020 Deepa Mehta movie adaptation controversy worsened things, but I took this recommendation from an LGBTQ Tamil blog online. I did not particularly enjoy Cinnamon Gardens by the same author, tbh.
Hungry Humans by Karichan Kunju (fiction, novel, historical) – first published in 1977, it deals with two Tamil characters, one of whom is grappling with homosexuality, greed, consuming desire and abuse trauma. I have not read this book, with full transparency, and the reviews are very mixed, with some Tamil reviewers saying that while the themes explored are compelling, the writing and authorial stances feel a bit dated, especially on issues of caste.
Siren's Desire by Samirah the Sapphic Siren (poetry, sapphic author)– this is a poetry collection by a Tamil Dravidian sapphic visual artist and poet that centres brown QTPOC as bodies who actively desire, and are not just passive objects tokenized for their desirability. Tackles themes of intersectional queerness, colorism, and healing from trauma. Btw you can directly support Samirah here (shop link) and here (patr30n), as well as on instagram (@/thesapphicsiren).
The First Beautiful Woman In The World by Leena Manimekalai (poetry, bisexual sapphic author)– this is a bisexual poetry collection by a Tamil writer, activist and director who has created several works depicting trans and/or queer identities in an Indian Tamil societal context. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find English translations of her works; she has more than one sapphic poetry collection apparently, but I could not track a single work down online (if any Tamil followers can help out it will be great!). you should follow her on Instagram nevertheless and support artists who vocally support the voices of marginalized communities and resist alt-right fascist censorship.

Activism Fiction Books (with LGBT characters)
In no particular order. These are only books I've read and enjoyed. There are more out there and I will add them to the list as I make my way through them.
1. Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, 2052–2072 by M.E. O'Brien and Eman Abdelhadi: speculative activism fiction written in the form of non-fiction, with many non-binary characters and two trans women. 12 interviews cover the political, economic, social, health and climate crises of the mid-21st century, then the insurrections that led to establishing communes all over the world, with a focus on NYC.
2. 2033: The Year Things Fell Apart by Rebecca Doll and James Gordon: speculative activism fiction, with a polyamorous lesbian protagonist + several trans/enby characters. This 2024 release follows a woman with an IT job resisting fascism from the inside, while other characters are resisting it from the outside. Note that the plot gets really dark towards the end.
3. This Book Won't Burn by Samira Ahmed: activism against book banning (mostly books by LGBT and/or POC authors), with some f/f + a probably aroace character (YA). This 2024 release follows an Indian American Muslim girl who fights against the book bans in her high school library. It doesn't shy away from the possible retaliations of the fascist side.
4. Something to be Proud of by Anna Zoe Quirke: LGBT and disability/neurodivergence activism, with non-binary characters and a gay boy + some f/nb (YA). This novel follows a chaotic bisexual on the autism spectrum who starts the Ardenpool Academy Activist Society in order to organise a fully accessible Pride festival. The group also works on getting gender-neutral bathrooms at their school.
5. [French] Tant qu'il le faudra by Cordélia: LGBT activism, with characters all over the LGBTQIAP+ spectrum + some m/m and f/f. This is my favourite French series. It follows a group of diverse people who write a queer magazine. It's a brilliant mix of activism, romance, humour and drama.
6. Unbecoming by Seema Yasmin: abortion activism, with some f/f (YA). This 2024 release follows an Indian American hijabi girl and a Palestinian American Muslim girl who decide to write The Texas Teen's Guide to Safe Abortion. Then, the former discovers that she's pregnant. Even with all this information, it's going to be a tough road getting the illegal pills she needs.
7. [French] Nos elles déployées by Jessie Magana: feminist activism, with some f/f + a non-binary character. This novel follows three women over two time periods: in 1974, the fight for abortion in France, and in 2018, the demonstrations for economic justice, then against climate change in France, as well as the protests for Bouteflika's resignation from the presidency in Algeria.
8. My Government Means to Kill Me by Rasheed Newson: ACT UP activism, with many queer men and one lesbian (a lot of sex scenes). This novel follows a gay Black man in 1980s New York City, who starts as an activist with a rent strike, then helps dying AIDS patients and becomes one of the original members of ACT UP.

Everything I have on Mark from Ares in CDS/VGF verse
His mom is this badass bisexual stone butch (the three golden b’s) ice road trucker from Canada, she is often on The Highway of Tears. She has picked up many women there saving their lives, a few actively rescuing them from direct harm or dieing of exposure from Starlight Tours. Ares picks up on this and goes to see her at a dive bar she's stopping at and precedes to get drunk under the table by her where after they hook up, that makes Mark
Mark is raised in his moms truck, its one of the ones with beds in the back and his cradle was a rigged hammock. He doesn't get to Camp until he's 14 because being homeschooled on the road helps keep monsters away, his mom doesn't know she banged a god.
Mark has more of the ‘protector of the small’ kind of Ares powers, his strength and skills boost if he's defending someone. The boy is as bi as his mom and was bottle-fed Respect Women Juice for as long as he's been alive. He also has a lose concept of gender norms; like he's very cis but was raised in a way that gender norms don't apply at all so he does as he pleases, he's also build like a wrestler so there is not much people can do about it. He’s a big fan of eyeliner
He is a little on the kinder softer side of Ares kids, but can more than hold his own with his cabin siblings. This is because he has more of the ‘Protector of Battered Women’ side of his dad’s domain. He’s really good with kids
He's also brown. Idk if he's Native or Indian I haven't desided but he’s definitely not white

Note
this may sound weird but what are your standards in dating? stalking your ig stories rn and you just irradiate this kind of aura ?? and i need to raise my standards.. so i am taking inspiration(?)
first of all, thank you so much this is so sweet <3 second of all………… there’s a LIST.
1. funny. (no man is funnier than me)
2. doesn’t want their ex. (women seem to never get past their first love?? and men too!! damn it???)
3. similar (NOT SAME) interests as me.
4. i am not interested in situationships so if they want that they can go.
5. not a bigot.
6. punches nazis.
7. smart (more than me? would make me go feral and absolutely insane. and i love this).
8. if they laugh at racists jokes they are OUT. and i will NEVER find funny the racism against indians. *cough im looking at boys and people who think that the trend of that man on a video call is funny*
9. when i’ll tell them im bisexual…. that reaction will be crucial.
10. interesting. i like spice. i want them to have layers that i can dissect and psychoanalyse.
11. understands the consequences of trauma.
12. taller than me (but i’m 5’0 so it’s not that difficult)
13. kind to other women. sorry but if a girl is freezing you are going to give her your jacket, you are going to open the doors for others, and you are going to he nice to her. i despise the “i hate everyone but you” thing.
14. sarcastic.
15. not a mama boy (you know which type of guy i’m talking about…..)
16. doesn’t support sw, porn, is anti capitalism.
17. not religious. idk i get scared everytime someone says that their religious. i never had a good experience…. scary as fuck. but they have to be pro witchcraft (and not an anti shifter ofc) because i am learning so
18. nice style 🙂‍↕️ sorry i just don’t like that nike tech
19. has nice friends (YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE NEAR TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
20. “im batman” get out of my house. (evil creatures)
21. not annoying
that’s it! RAISE YOUR STANDARDS BABE
