It's the same au, now further in the timeline with KkObiRin and it's hilarious.

I recommend reading the fic summary, if I even try to remotely summarize it, I'll have several paragraphs. This is an incredibly interesting take on the Hatake clan and I absolutely love it. Kakashi is not only carrying the burden of his father's death but also the culture of his clan and the lasting effects of colonization from the Uzumaki clan, physically and mentally.

Just typing out the name of this series has me all giddy in my seat. Kakashi decides to take his grief and the reflections of his old team and motivate himself to stop history from repeating itself. The worldbuilding, headcanons, and characterization are all phenomenal. If you are looking for a good Team 7 as family series, I cannot recommend this enough.

Fic Summary: "Kakashi loved Konoha a little less and his father a bit more. What happens next changes the face of history. However, Team 7's destiny years later is still wrapped with the silver-haired man's and an intricate dance begins." Fic is being edited and uploaded to Ao3, but ff.net has more chapters. THIS FIC. I cannot put into words how much this fic makes me froth at the mouth and make me want to commit 20 different felonies. Everything is so interconnected, character interactions and dialogues are heavily loaded and the sub-text is so tasty. You never truly know what the character's motivations are, what they are hiding, and how they are using others around them. Everyone is lying and eventually, everything happens at once. If you want to know how fucking good this fic is, even though the summary outright tells you Kakashi is alive, how the author presents it, it's nearly impossible to tell if it's Kakashi or not if you haven't read it. And in terms of the narrative? That makes sense. The characters can't tell if Kakashi is even alive or if that is Sakumo, or someone else completely.

Everyone is morally grey and using each other and It Is So Good.

Orochimaru tells Team 7 the truth about Naruto's parents and Sasuke's clan back in the Forest of Death. As a result, the genin decide the village is not for them and Kakashi is there to keep his kids safe. Uzushio rep FUCK YEA. From protective Kakashi to Fuinjutsu and Medical theory, this fic is amazing. There are actual stakes present and what goes on in the shinobi world is not just isolated to Konoha. All of the factors and groups are at play in this fic are incredibly engaging and makes the world seem more active and lively.

Itachi stays the villain, Madara has no manipulated minion to do his bidding, and Team 7 is not a repeat of its predecessors. Really nice character exploration that is actually consistent. Kishimoto could never do what this fic did skdfaldf It's so good

Shinobi: Team 7 by Gallyrat - Not rated - Multi-chap - Indefinite hiatus - Gen - Worldbuilding, Politics, AU

An AU where the author completely rebuilds Naruto from the ground up. Naruto's true lineage is properly hidden, Sakura's knowledge in history becomes far more useful, Sasuke is trying to live outside of the shadow cast by his brother. Konoha and all other major hidden villages have a history that is far more intertwined. Power balancing is reasonable and realistic and the author still stays true to canon characterization. Also, Danzo's role as a necessary evil for the good of the village actually makes sense and does justice to his character. (It was this fic that introduced me to the idea of Root Commander!Kakashi, and I've been hooked on it since)

Time travel/Dimension Hopping: (I have a lot of favorites in this type of au, I'm a sucker for this trope <3)

Don't let the fact that it's only 5 chapters long and last updated in 2019 fool you. It has 130k+ words and It Is A Fic To Read. If you like unlikely team-ups, I think you'll like Kakashi, Tsunade, and Jiraiya in this fic. The characterization is fucking amazing. The plot? *chefs kiss* Power balancing and character arcs are handled so well AND it has one of The Most Satisfying character death scenes that I have ever read. Just utter the line "Do you deny it?" And I will go ape shit insane at a flip of a switch. The entire time, in that scene, you KNOW Kakashi was playing with his food, only dragging it out for his enjoyment and to make him feel fear. Even better: The authors spent 3 hours getting a whole ass cake with "Ding Dong our problems are gone" in icing to celebrate killing off that character. If that doesn't show you how much love, dedication, and effort is put in this fic and I don't know what will.

Kakashi goes back in time to save the world with no plan, only to inadvertently do that when Tsunade realizes how much of a hot mess Kakashi and Orochimaru are. I have a huge weak spot for aus where Orochimaru becomes Kakashi's mentor, especially when the both of them are super dysfunctional, out of touch, socially awkward prodigies. They're trying their best <3

Infinite Tsukuyomi was set off a bit too early, and Kurama was forced to transport Team 7 to another universe in order to save them. Kakashi, Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke now are forced to navigate a world so closely alike yet oh so different from their own. All the while, a lot more things seem to be at play.

With the number of times I draw, write theories, scream, yell, cry, or just straight up go ape shit insane about this fic on this blog, how can I not include this fic? Every scene and chapter is so beautifully written and detailed. Not knowing the full story, every detail is loaded; even the imagery is a hint for what is to come (THE FUCKING TREE AND WOLF PUNS). The characterization and headcanons are *Chefs kiss* The angst will make you scream, cry, and you will love every single second of it. Team 7's dynamic is amazing. It's balanced with fluff, and I love Sthene's take of an alternate universe where Team 7 are the ghosts of their loved ones. If you love to overanalyze details, Hatake clan lore, world-building, Japanese mythology, and fairy-tale elements, this fic is for you.

Unsure how to stop the fate of the world, they try to prevent the village's first failure that they can realistically enact at their age: Hatake Sakumo's death.

One of the most unique time-travel fix-it au's I've read in terms of plot. The Hatake clan headcanons are great and I love kid!Kakashi in this fic, he's such a little shit sdflakdfsnlsidf

While you would understandably get frustrated by how each character reacts to Kakashi knowing the future, it's understandable. The moral dilemmas and misunderstandings flesh them out so well.

Kurama and Kakashi are the last surivors after Kaguya decimated everyone. In a desperate attempt, the two go back in time and Kurama is sealed in 12 year old Kakashi. The writing in the first couple chapters can come off as a bit cheesy, even the author admitted that when they went back and edited it, but when it picks up, oh it picks up. It's one of my favorite comfort long fics to go back and read on, I love how you can see how the author progresses in their writing over time.

Just the idea of Kakashi getting a normal childhood and actually getting the affection and love he never had as a kid is an easy way to get me invested. I also recommend checking out the Road to Nowhere Extended Universe, has a lot of great fics inspired by this au.

(Mind Content and Archive warnings) Fic summary: "The invasion of Konoha during the chuunin exam didn't fail. Team seven is broken, people are dead, and Sakura is hurt and frightened and a very long way from home. Alternative summary: In which Sakura carries half of Hidan across two countries, leaving a trail of blood, bodies, and other people's legs." If you don't mind gore and blood, this fic was a delight to read. So many heart-wrenching moments but this concept was so interesting. F to Team 7 tho.

Fic summary: "One day, after a particularly unpleasant failure of a mission, Kakashi takes a detour through the civilian quarter of Konoha and stumbles on a little pink-haired civilian girl who performs a flawless transformation technique with the wrong set of hand seals." The chakra theory and headcanons are mmmmm so tasty and crunchy. I love Sakura's and Kakashi's dynamic in the fic. Small feisty child bullies her teacher. It sure does escalate quickly And I love it.

I can't really do justice to this series trying to summarize it and put into words how much I love it. The arcs, the symbolism, the character dynamics, headcanons. I could on and on and never truly describe how much I love it. But ahg the writing is so fucking good. All around kudos to the worldbuilding, it's a wonder to read. Also 10/10 characterizations and interactions. I love Shuisi in this sklfjaldlsidf

yeah! in fact, let me make a new list since some of the fics that might have been on last list are on hiatus indefinitely.

First, another completed fic that can be hard to find, but is absolutely wonderful. It's not quite maribat, it's a Miraculous x Marvel crossover, but I figured it was close enough to include.

and omg, by far Tiny Tim by LeoLeonte on A03 is my favorite ongoing, regularly updated maribat fic right now. And But Think of the Content! by you_wish_you_knew_8755 on A03 just finished up not too long ago, it's 20 chapters and a real good read.

I haven't been keeping up with reading it, but I know that Look What You Made Me Do by Kiatana6 on A03 is ongoing and I remember liking it. It's just slightly too long for me to justify rereading it right now with all the stuff I have going on in my life, but it is worth a shot if you're looking for a longer story.

And actually, I lied. Tied for first place on my list of favorite ongoing fics right now is actually Bug Bites by thatwritersdream on A03. It's a Mlb x Marvel crossover, not Maribat, but it is sooooo good. I love it so much.

Also The Forgotten One by Alyssa_deliv on A03 is also good, and another huge fave of mine right now is The Particular Abilities of Marinette, and Her Discovery of Them by plantsarefun06 on A03.

Fic Tag Game

Grabbed from @hils79, because it looked like fun.

Name: Merinnan, which I’ve gone by for... fifteen years now, I think? Prior to that, I mostly used Calicia (and sometimes Zoi).

Fandoms: Like Hils, I’m only going to list the fandoms I’ve actually written fic for.

Star Trek: My very first fandom, and the one I’ve written the most fics for (so far - I suspect that DMBJ will overtake it. It certainly already has in terms of word count). I was (and am still) primarily a DS9 fan, and was a huge Kira/Dukat and Garak/Bashir shipper back in the day. Most of my Trekfics are DS9 fics, but I also dabbled a little bit in TOS and TNG, and had one or two crackfic crossovers that involved Voyager characters. Discovery has tempted me with a few fic ideas, but I haven’t written anything for it yet.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon: aka, the show that first had me seriously questioning my sexuality. Look, Haruka and Michiru are #goals, don’t judge me. This is also where my Zoi name came from, after the first season villain Zoisite, whom I cosplayed several times. Unsurprisingly, my main ships are HaruMichi and KunZoi. Despite this fact, neither of my published Sailormoon fics are HaruMichi.

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040: A short-lived fandom, but one I still liked enough to write a fic for and get the OST CD.

World of Warcraft: I wouldn’t say I’m really part of the fandom, per se, but I’ve been playing since the dying days of Burning Crusade, am a huge lore nerd, and started writing a crossover fic that is currently on indefinite hiatus. I do plan to come back and finish it, but first RL got in the way, and now I have to try and remember where I’d actually been planning to go with it.

A Court of Thorns and Roses: That crossover fic I just mentioned? Yeah, this is what it’s a crossover with. ACoTaR fandom went sleepy for awhile, but it’s back up and kicking now that A Court of Silver Flames is out - if any of you are still following me, it’s great to see everyone active again! To the surprise of no-one who knows me, I’m a big Nessian shipper.

Mo Dao Zu Shi / Chen Qing Ling / The Untamed: I came to this fandom via ACoTaR, actually, after a certain person (hi, @rhysand-vs-fenrys!) wouldn’t stop gushing about it :-) This is the fandom that really and seriously got me back into regular fic writing again after 15-ish years. I’m a multishipper here, and have written / am writing WangXian, NieLan, XiCheng, XuanLi, and XiSang.

Guardian / Zhen Hun: MDZS fandom led me to Guardian, which, along with DMBJ, has devoured my life in a way that hasn’t happened since my Star Trek days, and I love it! WeiLan is my major ship, but I’m also quite fond of the DaMian life raft.

Zhu Yilong: Yes, I’m going to list a person as a fandom. Zhu Yilong is one of the stars of Guardian, and is both incredibly pretty and an incredibly talented actor. So much so that I have suffered through some truly terrible dramas just to watch him in them. I do not write Z1L-fic, since RPF of living people is a personal squick of mine, but I am working on a massive crossover fic of most of his characters.

Mo Du: Guardian led me along to more of Priest’s works, such as Mo Du, which is now officially my favourite book, and I adore the main WenZhou ship. The Mo Du fandom right now is pretty tiny, and I’m still working on my first fic for it, but I hope that it will grow with the donghua due out this year, and the drama having just started filming.

Daomu Biji / The Lost Tomb: I initially came into this fandom because of Zhu Yilong, who played Wu Xie in the Reboot / Reunion / Chongqi drama, and then I got sucked into the fandom pit of all of the books and dramas and spinoffs, and it’s wonderful and fantastic. I have written so much for it, and have so much more planned. PingXie and PingXieSang are my main ships here, but I’m also a HeiHua fan, and very much enjoying the RiSang pool noodle that @kholran created.

Tropes: Hurt/Comfort and crack are my major ones.

Fic I spent most time on: A toss-up between Endings and Beginnings and Reunion, both DS9 fics. Endings and Beginnings is an alternate ending to the show, while Reunion is a Gul Dukat-centric fic set around, oh, season 5ish? Both were written for and initially published in print fanzines, so in addition to time spent writing, there was a lot of back and forth for editing, etc.

Favourite fic(s) you’ve written: Look, I honestly couldn’t say. I like most of the fics I’ve written, and there are several that I’m really proud of and really like.

Fic I spent least time on: Silent Graves, a super angsty DMBJ/Lost Tomb Xiaoge fic. I think I wrote it in like 15 minutes.

Longest fic: Cat’s Paw, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang canon rewrite fic I co-wrote with @xantissa, at 247 826 words. For fics written by just me, not with a co-writer, then that would be Nevermore, my WIP MDZS/CQL XiCheng Pacific Rim AU, at 22 276 words and counting.

Shortest fic: Every entry in my DS9 Drabbles series, with each one at exactly 100 words. Although if you count them as a quintdrabble, then Indiscretion (a DS9 missing scene vignette about Gul Dukat, set during the episode of the same name) at 169 words.

Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks/subscriptions: The answer to all of these is either Cat’s Paw or Nevermore, so I’m going to give the next highest.

Hits: Those who fear darkness have never seen what light can do, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie supernatural AU fic co-written with xantissa.

Since this fic also takes the highest kudos, bookmarks, and subscriptions after Cat’s Paw/Nevermore, I’ll skip to the next fic along on each of those.

Kudos: Stars fall like diamonds, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie missing scene fic from Reboot/Reunion/Chongqi.

Bookmarks: A Knight in Bloody Armour, another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (but a different supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.

Comments: Ears and Other Related Calamities, yet another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (of a different again supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.

Subscriptions: The Rescue Job, a Guardian WeiLan Leverage AU, currently at one chapter complete and posted out of a planned five chapters.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: We have plans for a prequel and a sequel to A Knight in Bloody Armour, and a spinoff fic for The Zhang Identity (a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie AU that is complete but not yet posted. It will be posted in April as part of the Small Fandoms Big Bang).

Share a bit of a WIP: This is from an as-yet-unnamed post-canon fix-it fic for the Guardian drama:

It was hurting again. Zhao Yunlan curled up into a tight ball under the hospital blankets, trying to ignore it enough to try to get back to sleep. He knew it wouldn't work, because he couldn't remember a time when it ever did, but it was always worth a shot, right? He squeezed his eyes shut and held himself tightly for a few...moments? Minutes?...before grabbing his stuffed cat and clutching it while he forced himself to breathe deep, slow breaths the way the doctors back in Spring City had taught him.

Eventually, the pain died back down to its usual dull ache, the one that was bearable and let him play, and watch TV, and do school lessons with his mother. One day, she said, they'd find a doctor who knew what was wrong, why he hurt all the time, and the doctor would give him medicine that would keep the worst pain away so that he could go to an actual school and meet more kids than the ones who lived in their apartment block or who frequented the same playground that he liked to go to.

Zhao Yunlan tried closing his eyes again, seeing if he could go back to sleep, but he was far too awake now. He sighed, sitting up in bed and looking around the room. Again. It was just like the hospital rooms in Spring City, and in Kiyota City. He figured that if the doctors here in Tomorrow Mountains couldn't help, his parents would take him to yet another city, and the hospital rooms there would probably look the same, too.

Then, over the faint beeping of hospital equipment, and the quiet murmurs further down the corridor of nurses at the nurse station or seeing to other patients, he heard a soft sniffling sound, like someone was trying not to cry too loudly. He picked up his stuffed cat and looked at it.

"What do you think, Dead Cat?" he asked it. "Should we go and find them?"

Dead Cat didn't answer, of course, but that didn't stop Zhao Yunlan from assuming that it agreed with him, and slipping out of bed. His feet touched the cold tile floor with barely a sound, and, still holding Dead Cat tightly, Zhao Yunlan padded over to the door. He looked up and down the corridor, then left his room to track down the sniffling noise.

He wasn't surprised that it came from the next room. He was surprised that it came from another kid, a boy who looked to be about his age, huddled in bed and wiping his eyes.

"Hi," Zhao Yunlan whispered. The other boy looked up in surprise, then stopped to clutch his chest as he began to cough. Once he'd finished coughing, Zhao Yunlan and Dead Cat were perched on the end of his bed.

"I'm Zhao Yunlan, and this is Dead Cat." He held up Dead Cat, moving one of the paws to wave hello. "What's your name?"

The boy wiped his eyes again. "Shen Ye."

So, an interesting thing happened at work today....

The new manager was helping another employee with their stock options. I was in the back room getting some supplies, and the manager said to the girl, “yeah, I’m sure Kimberly’s had TONS of shares in her tenure, right Kimberly?”

“Oh, I never bought [my company] stock.”

“No, I mean the stock [my company] gives you.”

“Wait...what?!?”

And it was then that I learned that info I had been given 9 years ago about the stock benefits was wrong.

So my manager finished with the girl, then sat down with me, and we were FLOORED when I set it up and logged in.

My company has been giving me stock since I started and I NEVER KNEW.

Guys. This is the miracle I’ve been praying for. The miracle God gave me because he is so incredibly good.

This is a first/last/security deposit on a tiny apartment around here, with enough for the second month.

I immediately texted my case manager and told him to take me off the waiting list for a women’s shelter.

You guys. This means I won’t be losing the internet indefinitely. I will be able to keep my phone and computer out of storage. It means, once I find a place and move in, I’ll even be able to record YouTube videos and FINALLY get off of my long hiatus. I’ll be able to work on “Two Brothers, Many Paths” without having to write it on my phone anymore, and at my own, regular pace. But above all, it means I won’t be homeless again, at least, not for a while.

And I am beside myself with amazement and awe.

My preference for GT and like, who is “normal” and who is the strange one is like so specific

I like GIANTS to exist alongside a human population but i like enough giants so that their world is either their proper scale or they exist in large enough communities that it’s at a sort of proper scale even if in the normal world

I love the borrower aesthetic of being around bigger things

But i like GIANTS more than tiny people

So i gotta get the humans to the giants anyways im rambling but it explains why my main stories center around humans who interact with giants that live in mostly their own scaled locations

like Yonah and his tower. Most things in his tower are scaled for HIM, back home at his village things are scaled for giants even if the world around them is more scaled to humans, so humans and smallerfolk living there feel like they are the tiny people, and this is reflected in their lifestyles. They dress almost borrower like, bc the supplies is all giant scale. But they can still go to any human/smallfolk places which are in abundance.

or my on indefinite hiatus project Beanstalk where yeah giants in the sky and that world is giant scale, so when humans go up there it’s all giant, but if a giant comes down, now things are human scaled, but there were never “tiny people”??

idk im rambling about my own content i love GT in all forms but my specific preferences i gotta make my own content bc it’s not standard stuff. it’s really oddly specific types of worldbuilding to facilitate specific interactions and aesthetics all at once can go in back and forth as wanted.

I keep thinking I can do this, but I just can’t. I hate to admit it, but I don’t feel the same love I used to for this community and sims in general. Earlier this month I was in a great mood! I thought I was coming back, gonna play my game, and spam y’all with my crappy gameplay posts, but I can’t. My good days are few and far between and even on those days I barely feel like playing or posting.

So I’m going to officially announce an indefinite hiatus for this blog. I’m not deleting and I will never remove my CC. I’ll still check in to answer asks and such and maybe reblog a little, but I probably won’t interact much.

For anyone curious about my life atm. I recently (may 1st!) started exercising every day, it’s not a lot, but it’s way more than the nonexistent exercise I did before. Honestly, it takes a lot out of me (im so out of shape omg) and I tend to just lay down afterward and read. People always say exercise is good for depression so I’m really trying even though I’m having my doubts.

Oh! And we have more kitties! Or should I say kittens?! Anyone remember the strays? Well, the two girls from the first litter had their own babies! One had her litter in our yard and there’s five of them and they’re absolutely adorable. Our little mama is constantly showing them off to us. But! Those damn little babies are quick and I’ve only managed to pet two of them (ones the runt and shes so fuckingcuteiloveheromg). The other girl had her litter somewhere else so we haven’t seen her babies and we’re a little worried they might be dead. The local tomcats are fucking mean! Some nights I have to run outside at like 1am to chase those fuckers away from lil mama (shes so tiny) and her babies. And before anyone feels the need to ask why I haven’t gotten the humane society or whatever involved, I’ve tried! Since they’re technically feral our local humane society won’t do shit! Unless! We catch them, claim them as our pets and pay for everything! We’re just going to let them overrun the town and feed the ones that stick around. I’m pretty sure someone did this a couple counties over and after a while, the county or someone paid for catch and release neuter and spaying. So fuck it.

lol, Anyways! I’m also planning to start drawing again, I mean, I suck at, but I’m going to practice, practice, practice! I really want to get better. I think I might make a personal/art blog to share my progress. Oh! And maybe I’ll even play those console games I haven’t touched since xmas!

Ugh and don’t get me started on work! This is the time of year when shit really picks up. Window season is just starting and I’m so not looking forward to washing peoples windows in 90-100 degree weather and even worse is a lot of our regulars are old people, so no fucking air conditioning! We’re lucky if there’s a ceiling fan or even a fucking breeze. Kill me.

Aeryn’s tiny smile after she tells John, on the way to Talyn, that if they can revive Talyn they’ll have to starburst away and can’t go back to Moya, and he says, “Yeah, I kinda figured that when I saw you packing your bag.” She smiles and nods so subtly as if that was confirmation to her that he wanted to be with her. He hadn’t tried to stop her from going; she had her bag packed and called behind her to everyone saying she was heading back to Talyn, and one of the Johns is right behind her with his own bag and is like, “Same here!” She didn’t really have a reaction to it. She already knew that they might not be able to get back to Moya for a really long time, and I almost wonder if she left like that (without really saying goodbye to anyone including him) on purpose- to kind of see if he would say anything- either arguing with her to try to make her stay or trying convince her to take him with her. but he just follows her onto the transport pod and she doesn’t even address the situation until they were like halfway there kind of like oh, btw, we might be stuck on Talyn indefinitely. So when he answers that he’d already realized that when he saw her packing a bag, she realized that he had planned this- had put thought into it. he packed a bag planning to be away with her for an indefinite amount of time. He wanted to be with her and not anywhere else. In our time this was 3 months after they’d first said “I love you” to each other, but I don’t think in their time it was supposed to be that long, but the show went on hiatus for literally 2 months after the 6th episode of the season, so we’ll just say that in their time it was like a month. and I think for that period of time Aeryn was kind of thinking over what had happened between them and finally decided she was ready to be with him, but was still kind of afraid to do something about it, so she wanted to see what he would do if she was leaving for possibly an extended period of time and I guess that him just going with her- no questions asked and no arguments made was what she needed to fully trust him- to trust that he’d always be with her. And then it was the next episode that they officially started a relationship.

I am more than happy to fully spoil anyone on anything, I’m just hella not going to post spoilers publicly (partially so that if I have tiny changes of heart tweaking things before posting them I’m not in contradiction to myself, and partially because I really don’t trust tumblr not to somehow fuck it up for the people who don’t want to see things spoiled). I’m still working on the outline of the rest of it getting it up to a postable point, mostly my problem is grad school and personal emergencies suddenly made me hella busy as well as oops if I want to write up epistolary novellas for the gay murder elf bachelorette series I need to do it before Jeremy starts running the next book or they won’t be canon as well as just. every time I try to work on the outline. I keep wanting to fill in all of my favorite scenes. so we’ll see how long that gets.

(outline of the rest of it, depending on how long you’ve been following this blog, is exactly what it sounds like: it became more and more obvious that despite good intentions my hiatus was becoming semi-indefinite, partially because life got busier and the amount of research and editing that was being devoted to a project that I was doing in my spare time became something that was So Much Serious Work and I needed my free time to be free, not even more work. but I’d had mostly written down the plans for everything I was going to write that I could polish up and post in one big outline that would then give me the freedom to maybe slowly fill in the details and update each of the rounds but there would be a lot less pressure and if it took me forever to, at least people would be able to appreciate the full arc of the story within a reasonable timeframe. just, you know, because of my research and editing standards even for a sketchy outline that’s been taking a ridiculously long time to pull together too.

2 AM

Note: It’s been a while since I last posted (Never mind that last post in some months ago) and since it’s the end of the semester, I think a reprieve from all those jargons is something I deserve. So with that, I wrote this to celebrate my freedom from school!

Let me tell you guys that this one is a one-shot, albeit really long. I apologize for that but I really don't want to cut this into parts. While it has been fun to write Once Upon A Time imagines, as well as Peter Pan imagines, I am going to take an indefinite hiatus on that fandom. This is because there has been so much going on on that series that I found it too difficult to catch on (It would take the whole of my summer should I want to catch up with that show.) To my followers who are waiting for more imagines, I sincerely apologize. I made you guys wait for nothing. However, if you are here just for the sake of reading my stories, then you guys are in luck!

Also, I’ve been seeing many stories with time as their titles, so I thought, why not jump in and contribute my two cents worth, ey?

So since I couldn’t post this last Christmas night, I decided to post it now where, I believe, some of you are still celebrating Christmas! (Or if you do celebrate it.) Don’t expect much, the ending has been rushed and well, this doesn’t make any sense, so read at your own risk!

PS: Yes, somehow, it is also based from a somewhat poem of mine. I only realized it just now.

Prompt: 2:00 AM/ Two insomniacs going for an adventure of their own./ “Let’s do something crazy,”

“You know staying in the park during this hour could be a dangerous thing,” The words were sprouting before you could even comprehend what you were saying. “There could be uh… burglars or thieves that may mug you and leave you to death or something.” You continued, prompting the person who was sitting on the park bench to turn to look at you.

You stifled a groan. Of course, the stranger you are talking to is a guy; a freaking guy with a well-defined body structure.

‘That means he works out, genius.’ You thought as you shifted your footing as he continued to stare at you, no doubt with amusement playing on his features. “Oh… you’re a guy. Well, I think you can handle yourself so I’m just going to uh, go… yep-“ you said, turning around to the other way so as you won’t be able to pass him by as you walk.

“Don’t you think it applies to you too as well?” he called out to you before you could even take a step.

You paused, scoffing to yourself. “My dad taught me self-defence. I’m pretty sure I can handle myself.” Your subconscious is telling you to leave already as you have already embarrassed yourself already, not to mention, you have a strict schedule that you would like to see it done but you couldn’t help yourself.

You hated being painted as a small girl who is incapable of protecting herself.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” Is it just you or is the voice sounded louder and… nearer?

You turned around only to smack on to a hard chest, making you groan out loud.

“Oh my god, I’m sorry I didn’t know you’d turn around suddenly!” You are vaguely aware that his hand was cradling your head while the other was rubbing your forehead, hoping he could alleviate the pain.

‘Golden opportunity.’ You smirked to yourself, manueuvring quickly, twisting his forearm behind his back as he yelped in surprise and pain.

“She strikes, she scores!” you couldn’t help it but be smug about it as you peeked through the curtain of his brown curls to see his reaction. “Told you I could defend myself.” You added for good measure before gently releasing him.

Chuckling, he studied you with an amused look on his face. “Alright, duly noted.” He said. “I’m sorry for that, I didn’t mean for it to sound…judgmental.”

You nodded, absentmindedly as you took a step back, grabbing the opportunity to study his features.

He is cute. For a freakishly tall dude, you could see that he is blessed with good looks and his voice… judging with the way he spoke, you could see that has the potential- wait, hang on.

“Are you that Stitches guy?”

You could tell you confused him with your sudden statement with his furrowed eyebrow as any indication. You were about to clarify what you had just said when you heard his laughter.

And not just any laughter, mind you. It was that ‘I-can’t-breathe-because-I’m-laughing-way-too-hard’ kind of laughter.

Scowling, you were about to scold him when you noticed that tiny little detail that should’ve never escaped your scrutiny, making you freeze on the spot.

“I’m sorry,” he chuckled, wiping his tear of laughter as he looked down on you, allowing a full access view on his pair of eyes.

Sobering up, he let a small amused smile escape his lips. “Stitches guy?” he echoed, snapping you out of your erratic thoughts. “I'm confused. Are you referring to surgeons or…?”

Rolling your eyes, you playfully shoved him away. “Shut up, I think you know what I'm talking about.” You could feel your ears heating up a bit, an indication you are indeed embarrassed.

Just how may times would you make a fool of yourself in front of this guy?

“No, I don't.”

You heaved out a sigh. “Yes you do. Look, are you going to introduce yourself or am I going to keep calling you Stitches guy?”

He is curious, curious whether you really don't know him or just pretending you don't. His gaze isn't piercing, yet it is enough for pretenders to avert their eyes.

You stood your ground.

“Shawn,”

You relaxed as you held out your hand for him. “Y/N.” you said as he took your hand for a shake and held it on far tighter.

When you met his alarmed look, you let out a small smile, probably the first of the night. “Let’s do something crazy,”

“I don't know about you, but the sign clearly says ‘Close',” Shawn pointed out as you excitedly whipped your phone out as you started taking photos of the huge building in front of you, playing with the angles and taking advantage of the dim lights of the city.

“Gee, I've been wondering what that sign meant. Thanks for your unwanted pessimistic opinion, Shawn.” You said sarcastically, rolling your eyes at his remark.

While you were letting out, that inner fan girl of yours, he simply stood there, arms crossed across his chest, watching you with amusement- not fully comprehending your excitement seeing as you couldn't even come inside to take a look at the exhibition.

“Do you want to take a selfie with me?” you asked suddenly, putting a halt on his racing thoughts.

“Well, well. And here I thought, little Miss Y/N don't know this Stitches guy.” He playfully remarked as he sauntered his way towards you, taking your phone as he angled it for a better view. “If you’re gonna ask for an autograph, I might charge you for it.”

“Just take the damn photo, Shawn.” You growled, emphasizing his name as he chuckled and obliged to your request.

Satisfied with the photos, you took your phone back and turned to give him your full attention. “Ready for our next destination?”

Shawn tilted his head. “Are you always like this? A whirlwind?” he asked as you nodded with a serious look on your face. “You know, you could be a murderer and no one would know.” he told you as he caught your pace and started walking away from the building of British Museum.

“Then how come you let me drag you all the way here?” You asked. “You could've left the moment I started taking pictures of the museum.” You stared at him, silently giving him the out to this whole ordeal even if you didn't want to.

There's something more than what means the eye to this situation you found yourself in and you are determined to finish this through. Although, even if that's the case, you wouldn't want this guy to do something he was forced to do hence, why you are offering him an out.

For what felt like an eternity- you weren't the type to wait-, he smiled down at you, eyes crinkling in delight. "And miss the opportunity to be caught up in this whirlwind? Never."

With a satisfied smile, you gestured for him to follow you as you took off for your next destination.

"Here it is, pop star!" You're so close to squealing in delight as you ignored the pants coming from your companion, staring at the building before you in awe. "The national gallery!"

"How..." He paused as he stared at you in disbelief while you smiled at him, your heart beating wildly because of that run is currently being ignored in favor of the beauty in front of you. "How...are you even... not tired right now?" He managed to say after he caught his breathing.

You raised an eyebrow at him, amused to see that this guy- the one who had proudly claimed that he works out once a day- had been panting just after running for few minutes. You supposed it's because it's night and he is supposed to rest at this time; you, on the other hand, may not be as gym enthusiast as him, but you've done this almost every other night. You're used to this kind of adventure. "Alright, here." You finally said as you forced his knees apart, pushed him in a squatting position and guided his elbows to his thighs. "Breathe, Mendes."

"Why do-"

"Just keep on breathing, right there, while I take photos of this magnificent building right here." You stated as he stared at you with confused look. “And while you're at it, you could tell me more about yourself.”

His eyebrows furrowed. “Yeah, like what?”

You shrugged. “I dunno. Maybe like, how come you had gotten tired just after some blocks worth of running when it is obvious that you work out.” You teased. “No, really it would be nice if you tell me about yourself.”

“There’s google and wikipedia for that, Y/N.” He got up as he took his phone from you and started taking selfies of both of you with the magnificent background behind you.

You laughed. “Arrogant much?” you nudged his side. “It would be nice if you tell me about yourself.” You repeated, emphasizing what you meant.

He looked down on you as you met his gaze, forgetting about the camera for a moment.

“Myself?”

You nodded. “Weird but meaningful stuff kinda like… how I love winter even though I am perpetually cold, or like I've always thought Draco could use more background story than just of a bully, or I've always wanted to see the world but to see it in my perspective. That kind of stuff.”

His jaw went slack. “You’re a Draco fan?” his lips slightly formed a sneer. “Let me guess, you're a Slytherin, aren't you?”

“Oh gosh, don't tell me you're a Gryffindor?” you threw the question back, adding a sneer of your own, taking your phone back from his slackened hand. “And here I thought, you're an awesome person to spend time with-even with potential wimpiness here- I seriously should question my life choice then.”

“Hey!”

“You started it!” you giggled as you watched the boy before you slowly peeled his defenses away. You could tell that his wariness of you had started to wane just by allowing him to see glimpses of yourself. And you may not admit it out loud, but you could also feel a little bit of your wariness wash down as he began to peel himself out of his defenses.

“No, but seriously. I… actually am more comfortable with tea than with coffee, I love singing in front of my fans even if it's overwhelming at times, I honestly think that Gryffindor is the coolest house among the four, and I miss my family a lot.”

You couldn't help but smile as you held out your hand for him. “You forgot: ‘and I am a wimp even if I go to the gym every day.’”

“Shut up.”

“Are you sure you haven't heard of my music before?” he asked as you walked slowly, matching each other's pace, basking the peacefulness the night is giving to the two of you.

“Hmm? My kind of music is more of All Time Low, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy.” You answered him, kicking pebbles along the way. “Though your song comes up to the radio once or twice so I might have listened to it, why?”

He shook his head. “Nothing, it's just that… this reminds me of the music video I've had for one of my songs.”

You looked up, stopping in the middle of the deserted Trafalgar Square. “Is that so?” you called out to him, making him stop in his tracks as well, turning back to you. “Do you think..."

He made his way back to you. "Do I think...?" He prompted, raising his eyebrows at you whilst showing an impish grin- an indication that he may have an inkling as to what you're supposed to ask. You shook your head, deciding against it since it would inflate his ego and decided to continue on with your walk. "Aw, come on Y/N! What were you about to say?" He protested.

"Nothing," you playfully called back to him. "We still have time to-"

"She pulls me in enough to keep me guessing..." You froze on your tracks, eyes widening at his soft voice in contrast of the noise of the screeching cars, and rushing trains from below, the sound of typical night life in a big city like this.

"And maybe, I should stop and start confessing... confessing, yeah." You looked back only to meet his intense gaze, making you smirk as he stopped singing when he saw the expression painted on your face.

"What?"

"Nothing," you immediately answered to which he looked at you with disbelief, prompting you to explain yourself. "No wonder girls swoon over you." You said, dismissively.

"Including you?" He asked with a playful glint in his eyes, catching up onto you as you looked down your watch. 1:45 am. Just in time for one more stop, then. You thought as you scoffed light-heartedly.

"It would take more than serenading for me to fall for you, popstar." You told him as you offered your hand for him. "Ready for one more landmark?" You asked as his head turned to you in such speed that you thought he would get a whiplash.

"One...more?"

You rolled your eyes as you easily molded your hands onto his, noticing the warmth it brings even though it is cold out on a chilly London evening. "I know I'm imposing on your alone time, and I might be stealing away your beloved sleep but I really need to see this last destination, okay?" You explained as your legs already moving to your destination as you wanted to get there on time. "And this adventure wouldn't be possible without the stranger I had dragged along with so... popstar, will you see this last landmark with me?"

It was his turn to scoff playfully. "Like you'd have to ask,"

You stifled a smile as you dragged him, breaking into a run throughout the illuminated city.

"Houses of Parliament?" Shawn asked you as your run died into stroll. "You wanted to see the houses of parliament?" He echoed.

"You sound as if you're not amazed with this, Mendes." You countered to which he rolled his eyes at. "And besides, I'm here just to see Big Ben up close."

"You know, you could have gone with the viewing deck, right?"

"You're ruining the moment,"

"What moment?"

You paused, giving him a glare. "The momentous occasion where my childhood dream comes true." You told him as if he should know about that tiny detail. "Honestly, popstar, were you even listening to me earlier?" You asked to which he gave you a sheepish grin in return. "I don't know why I chose you to come with me." You playfully sighed, turning your attention to the humongous clock as he went by your side and joined you.

"Y/N..." He called out. "I should've asked you this earlier... right even before we started with this whole thing but I kept on forgetting, and now that you brought it up- Why did you go out tonight? Weren't you afraid that there might be thugs out during the night...?" He settled. "Shouldn't you be back on your hotel and carried on with the sightseeing at a normal hour?"

"I’m an insomniac, I couldn’t sleep and so I settle this by going out all night- or at least go home when I get tired.” you answered. “Lately, I’ve been wide awake so I told my mom that maybe I needed to get out of the country and explore other cities. Hence, why I decided to go sightseeing.”

He looked at you, surprised at your answer. Out of all the answers he was imagining, this was not what he had expected. "What?"

"Unbelievable, right?” you told him as you resumed walking. “I think you have more questions, so fire it up!”

"Just this one more, why did you drag me with you? You could've ignored me and went on with your adventure." he asked, gently tugging on your wrist so as to stop you from walking.

You looked up, silently studying his features which have been illuminated by the city lights. Slowly, you could feel your senses ignoring your surroundings as you reached out, silently asking him permission to continue.

When you didn’t receive any protests, you began tracing the dark linings marking him. "It's your eyes," you answered, reveling in the silence from the stunned boy in front of you. "That's why I dragged you with me."

"Huh?"

You slowly caressed the lines. "You couldn't sleep, that's why you were at the park earlier, isn't it?"

Wordlessly, he nodded at you as you smiled bitterly.

"I... you’re right. I could’ve just ignored you but... well, you’ve got this look on your face and I couldn’t ignored that.”

“I-uh…" his eyes searched yours, as you retrieved your hands and shoved them in your pockets.

"It's the fans." He sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Sometimes.... I feel like what I do isn't enough to keep them satisfied. There's always something missing from me, or I dunno..."

You couldn't help but to scoff, catching him in surprise. "Well, people are never going to be satisfied, popstar." You told him, averting your gaze from him back to the view of the city lights. "You could give them the world, and they would still be looking for more. I guess, it just intensified because you are a public figure but you know what? Even if there are people out there who gives you hate, you just remember that there are far more important things to worry about and I mean about those people that mattered to you. Those people that kept on believing in you ever since day one."

"Have I told you how dramatic you are?" He asked, making you turn to him only to see him smiling down at you. "I mean, we've only spent what? Two hours together but I can already tell how dramatic you are."

You rolled your eyes. "You just ruined my greatest speech I've given to a stranger,"

He laughed. "Sorry,"

You shook your head with a smile as you looked at the iconic large clock in front of you before turning back to him. "Come on, I think you should go back to your hotel before your manager sends for a search party."

"And you?"

You smiled. "I'll be on my way as well. That way, you won't say that I am stalking you or something." You could tell that he wanted to protest but you shook your head. “I’ll be fine, Shawn. Don’t worry. And hey, maybe we’ll see each other again.”

“Alright then,” he settled as you nodded at him in acknowledgement as you began walking backwards. “Promise me, next time we see each other, we’d sightsee on a normal hour.”

“Promise,”
