Iâve been working on this mask for a segment for FeverDream thatâs live action ïżŒ
Though it doesnât have the mouth or the eyebrows, those will be added in later so they will detachable so I can change the expressions of the face. And hereâs the character that the mask is modeled after. ïżŒ
His name is Max though itâs cut off in the image and his name is short for Maximum heâs sort of a jerk, but in the way of an old time Looney Tunes short.ïżŒïżŒ

on my chemical romance's history of racism:
(edit: i wont rewrite anything since that will create discrepancies in reblogs. however, i will include these important additions: post 1 and post 2)
cultural appropriation is a neutral term that turns negative when people co-opt a culture without consideration to its people and history, or their prejudices and privileges. the rising sun japanese flag is an imperialist symbol used during japan's occupation of other countries from 1870 to 1945 (the guardian 2019). unlike other symbols of terror, the rising sun is normalized because of the japanese government's refusal to acknowledge its history. the symbol's meaning was popularized a few years ago when people from south korea protested its legality in the 2020 tokyo olympics (bbc 2020). aware or unaware of its history, americans have long appropriated the rising sun. in part because of their fascination with japanese art, in part because of orientalism -- a fixation on asian cultures that centers "exoticism".
my chemical romance has been associated with the rising sun symbol a couple of times. frank iero used to have a tattoo of it. gerard way designed frank's killjoys outfit to include it (seen in concept art and music videos). it is often used in mcr fanart.
tokenism is when something contains limited diversity to divert criticisms for the lack of it. my chemical romance has had a very white cast of characters in their music videos and stories. in the "i dont love you" music video, a main character is in black body paint. in the casting call, they specifically asked for a white man (there is 100% an online source -- please let me know if you have it). even casting a black person for this role would place him in a video that appropriated his skin color to mark his "difference" from the light-skin female character.
the female character points to the band's main problem with tokenism. if they arent casting a white woman, theyre casting a light-skin asian woman. the woman in the "i dont love you" mv is fetishized for physical traits stereotypically attributed to east asian women: big eyes, daintiness. east asian women feature most prominently aside from the band and main characters in the "welcome to the black parade" music video and photo shoot. the photoshoot is the only place where an ashy-faced black man and ambiguously tribal? brown man are seen (brought in by photographer chris anthony per the "making of the black parade" book). the director antagonist of the danger days music videos (shown in "sing") is a japanese woman. she is the only main character of color in the music videos and the killjoys: california comics. the focus of this post is on my chemical romance, but the comics are important to showcase that the reality is never "color-blind casting" or "limited roles". it's mostly white creatives (band members and directors and artists) who ignore non-white people when they cant use them, reflected as much by gerard way years later (nyt 2019).
"japan takes over the world" is a media trope that is built on the late 20th century fear of the return of imperial japan. this trope frames japanese people as unique aggressors, feeding into "yellow peril" fears of asian people "taking over" the white race. this trope is suggested all over the danger days universe, where the corporation BL/ind overthrows the US government. the appropriation of the japanese modern flag and lettering on the killjoys outfits, the primary BL/ind villain being a japanese person who only speaks japanese in videos, the official BL/ind website having a ".jp" domain and english-japanese translations. japanese people and culture only exist in this universe to decorate and threaten.
the point of this post is not to punish my chemical romance. in the decade+ since, they have made meaningful changes -- the sing it for japan project to aid japan during the 2011 earthquake-tsunami, developing diversity in gerard's comics / tv show, a mexican-american main character in the 2020 summoning video. people of color treated as real goddamn people.
however. all these faults exist in frozen time. there is no discussion attached to the work. so anyone, fan or casual, may come across it and not notice or care for these important issues. i know all this shit and i still fail to see instances of what i highlighted. it's difficult locating not only your own prejudices but those of others. those you look up to.
"my chemical romance" is the product of many people from 2001 to 2013. many of these people were male, white, american, and/or, most radically, liberal. clearly laying out what they did wrong is important. being careful with history and culture and personhood is important. prioritizing growth is important. constantly. forever.
#mcr#this has been weighing on me for a long time. i just didnt know how to say it. why i should say it if someone else already has#and well. thru writing this i figured everyone should say it to really understand it#qessay

INTRODUCTING... TRAGEDY CONTROL !!!
my beloved danger days self-inserty guy i made in late last year and ive only now got motivation to continue art shiz about them today (random moment of creativity)
the art ft. show pony!!!!!!!!!! because i think they'd get along (platonic) i like show pony (duh. and the glass animals song. sorry i had to mention it)
also the top left drawing (and the one under it) is mine, those are the late last year drawing and concept :3 nail polish stock image was to help guide me for drawing show pony's hand, everything else is free-draw
two bracelets, first one is when they will get captured by bl/ind, whoopsies, they can run but dude cannot hide | second one is just tragedy control. just them. whole vibe, that bracelet.
tragedy control uses they/any, they're not a part of the fabulous killjoys, just REALLY admires them. and if you find them cool, be free to make fanart of tragedy BUT PLEASE CREDIT ME/@ ME OR BOTH. AND DONT PUT THEM IN ANY ROMANCY SHIZ.

Video review by 'The Historical Fencing Channel' of a tournament bout by David Miller of Sellsword Arts
Various exchanges are used to discuss the concepts of strong and weak, indes, the bind generally, winding, thrusting(ort, schissen, absetzen, ansetzen etc.), and so on.
You may or may not also know about these older and recent KDF-related posts on this blog that may be useful as reading material alongside the video.
Hereâs a masterpost of sorts of Meyer content on this blog, one of the later masters in the KDF tradition that covers all the mentioned aspects in the video.
For anyone who hasnât yet seen the following links:

The new era might be a Danger Days sequel
So this has a lot to do with merch drops as well which are more so circumstantial and could be for the album's 10th anniversary, except that would be a year late, bc we got a shit ton of merch drops for Danger Days last year. The masks and stuff all came out in 2021, not 2020.
We also just got Killjoys National Anthem and the TV show that was announced but haven't heard anything else about yet last year. Why would there be such a huge focus on Danger Days after the anniversary, while National Anthem did come out during 2020 that can be argued being for the 10th anniversary. More on National Anthem specifically later.
The rest is more speculative and connecting some dots that may or may not be linked.
Killjoys: California features the character the Phoenix Witch called the Phoenix Witch and there may be an analog to her in National Anthem in issue 4, but is left unnamed, if that's who it's supposed to be the phoenix is symbolic of life after death, the Ash (foundations) of Decay bring back the phoenix to new life.
Going towards the comics I also feel like I have to bring up the costume Gerard wore at MK1, the Moon Knight, and possibly an I'm Not Ok album art ref, basically I think this is BL/ind in some sort of compacity. There are a number of striking similarities to what we have seen from BL/ind
I think the outfit he is wearing is pretty similar to the draculioids and I can't remember what the other mask is called, but the main thing that gets me is the black boots and the mask, white suits are uncommon as well but that could just be that Gerard was watching too much Moon Knight, this whole thing could just be Gerard cosplaying Moon Knight for all we know. The mask looked familiar and to me, it looks like a torn-up version of the last image, and if it does take place after Killjoys California that could make a lot of sense. Spoilers for the comic, but at the end of California, Battery City is pretty much destroyed by Destorya and people are free from BL/ind from what we know, that might be the backdrop of the show.
Speaking of Destorya, we have Gerard yelling Rats a lot in concert, rats are mentioned a number of times in Danger Days and its associated canon, such as the lyrics of Destorya and again in Mastas of Ravenkroft, both of which are being played on tour. Honestly the fact Mastas is being played at all makes me very curious if this is a Danger Days concept. But reats are again mentioned in the backdrop of the show
Beyond rats we also have Swarms of bugs, mainly flies. We don't really know what Swarm means yet, it could be a tour name or it could be an album title, or something else entirely. But the imagery of the fly is brought up a number of times on the tour merch, as well as mentioned in National Anthem.
In National Anthem we actually saw a familiar face, Tommy Chow Mein, and you know what his head was? A fly. Tommy has always been associated with bugs in Danger Days lore but it's awfully convenient that between Gerard's post with him in the fly mask, Tommy Chow Mein specifically being depicted with a fly when his twitter avatar was an ant, and this new tour iconography, are all flies.
Is any of this definitive proof? Absolutely not, it's just speculation on my end that I've been thinking about since we first saw the Swarm merch. I keep on noticing little tidbits so I might change this post or add onto it later, but I figure I'd share it because I thought the similarities were interesting and Im always down for more Danger Days related content.

UK Infographic
This weeks project was to make an info graphic in which the theme is the UK and its specific Regions. The theme could either be: Arts/Cultural UK Food UK Weird/strange/Unknown UK Historical UK. I was given Historical UK and began to generate ideas.
My initial idea was British music through the decades, where I would show the popularity of chart topping songs. I then considered the Medical history and how healthcare has advanced in the last decade as I thought that fit into the historical theme better.Â
Another idea was the number of historical buildings in each region of the UK, but after thinking this idea through I couldnât figure out how I could make the design engaging or appealing to look at. The large bubbles represent the highest selling hits of that particular decade whereas the smaller bubbles show the highest selling songs of a singular year (1963 for example) I did begin my music concept and was fond of the overall theme I was going with, however, I quickly found I had jumped into the design before the actual point I was trying to convey, the whole point of the info graphic was to represent each band or artist with their logo as to avoid using text (which would clutter the design), though I soon realised there were hardly any chart topping singles by bands or artists with no-text logos (such as the Rolling Stones tongue or The Whoâs red white and blue logo) that I could use and was therefore left with no option but to find a more informative and graphic based subject as opposed to text based information, this decision was made because I felt I needed to test my abilities as a designer through visual imagery.
Eventually, I came to the conclusion of the UKâs history of population growth which I thought would be a perfect theme to represent in the form of an info graphic. This was a completely different theme to my original music idea, this is because I took a lot more time and consideration when planning out what message and information I was planning to represent.
I decided to use a colour key to draw attention to the UKâs different regional populations as well as preserving a consistent colour scheme. While the line graph was based off of readily compiled data and then constructed solely in illustrator, the pie chart was made by collecting each regions population individually and then feeding the figures into an excel spreadsheet which left me with my desired results. I then took the pie chart and created a much more visually pleasing adaptation.
I found similar info graphics to my idea and implemented certain features into my own design.

Remodeling Tips for the Master Bath
When redoing your master bathroom, consider incorporating luxury into the design to create a customized retreat. An atmosphere of personal indulgence, which used to be the domain of day spas, is finding its way into master baths remodels. Limited only by imagination and a projectâs budget, standard master baths are turning into customized retreats. The good news is luxury can be incorporated into any design. âWeâre starting to put in more luxurious items,â says Sara Ann Busby, National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) president-elect and owner of Sara Busby Designs of Elk Rapids, Mich.
Style
Unsure about how to describe your desired style? Not a problem. A book like Yes/No Design: Discover Your Decorating Style With Taste-Revealing Exercises and Examples, by Diane Love (Rizzoli International Publications) can help sort through different styles. Paying a visit to decorator show houses, kitchen and bath showrooms and plumbing showrooms provides the opportunity to see bathrooms firsthand and get ideas for your project, says Jessica Clock, a designer with Carmel Kitchen Specialists Inc. of Carmel, Ind.
Materials
For master baths, no material is too luxurious or too unusual. â(People) are going over the top,â Sara Ann says. Of course, âover the topâ can mean different things to different people. To some, it might mean splurging on granite countertops. To others it could mean going top-of-the-line from top to bottom.
Layout
To create a custom floor plan, consider hiring a certified bathroom designer, who will analyze the size of the space and your familyâs needs. Some things to discuss with the designer include:
Shower or Bath: The master bath has undergone some changes in recent years. Giant tubs, once wildly popular, have fallen out of favor. Instead, people are choosing custom showers including overhead showerheads, wall-mounted showerheads, hand-held showerheads, shower tiles, rain bars, body sprays and steam showers. âPeople arenât spending the time in the tubs,â Sara Ann says. âThey can get the same benefit and be in and out in five minutes (with a shower).â Choosing a custom shower with a smaller bathtub can have a big impact on the layout of a bath, too. âA big tub with a nice surround takes up a tremendous amount of space. We can do a great big custom shower in a lot less space,â Sara Ann says.
Number of Sinks: Often Sara Annâs clients will ask for two sinks in a master bath remodel. After discussing the matter further, most often what the clients really need is one sink and more counter and mirror space. âItâs rare we put in two sinks,â she says. Plumbing for a second sink can raise the price of a remodel, so itâs wise to give the matter careful thought before deciding on the number of lavatories.
Delicate Matters: âBathrooms are much more personal than talking about a kitchen,â she says. Though it may seem a bit awkward to discuss things like a separate room for the toilet or dual showerheads with a designer, doing so will result in a better bathroom remodel.
Universal Design: Another trend in master bathrooms is the use of universal design. This approach, designed to accommodate people of all ages and abilities, includes wider doorways, showers with no raised lip around the bottom, larger shower doors and more room around fixtures. Once thought of as industrial-looking, universal elements such as grab bars now blend seamlessly into even the most luxurious master bathrooms.
The Details
When it comes to extras in a master bathroom remodel, look toward the luxurious. Hang an extravagant chandelier over a soaking tub add built-in warming drawers for towels or install a pass-through fireplace for ambience and warmth. You might also consider increasing the master bathroomâs convenience by housing your washer and dryer, adjacent dressing rooms or even massage tables in the space. Sound systems and televisions have become quite common in master bathrooms, but todayâs remodels are taking the concept to a new level. Flat screens are becoming more popular and in-mirror models, where the television is visible only when it is on, are another option. A master bath should be a calm, quiet retreat, and that can be tough to pull off with the noise from a television or stereo bouncing of the roomâs hard surfaces. âI would be aware that you want to put some softening materials (like plush towels and fabric window treatments) into the space,â Sara Ann says. These finishing touches will add that extra bit of luxury to an already spalike master bath remodel.

Compel (from 42v of Danzig 44 A 8):  You should in all striking and meeting always bind strongly on his sword and force (constrain) and coerce (compel) on his sword with your point, and with skill see if you can set upon him. Sprechfenster (from 36v of Danzig 44 A 8):  Whoever can truly  fight from it at the sword can coerce (compel) his foe so that he must be hit whether he likes it or not and cannot manage to strike or thrust before your point.

A desire line is formed from many people over time choosing not to walk the paved paths, but instead go the way that seems most expedient to them. Â they are typically formed when planners don't account for real human behavior.

About us!
James is the founder and principal instructor of the Goliath Historical Fencing Academy. He began fencing in 2009, after being inspired by the film Reclaiming The Blade. At Goliath, he instructs several weapons systems including longsword, rapier, dagger, unarmed combat, quarterstaff and halberd. He has taught at private seminars at major fencing events in Europe and Canada as well as across the US.
Jess Finley has had a sword in her hand for the past twenty years. Her initial interest was in stage combat, but not too long after beginning that pursuit began to ask "... but how did they really fight?" From that question, she branched out to German Medieval Martial Arts after being accepted as a student by Christian Tobler, who remains her mentor to this day. Â She is the head instructor at Ritterkunst Turnhalle in Lawrence, Kansas. She has taught and competed internationally as well as private intensives at her home. Â She also has a background studying Judo under the tutelage of Arden Cowherd of Topeka Judo Club.
She is a published author, having written a book entitled "Medieval Wrestling" on the fifteenth century Master Ott's wrestling treatise of German wrestling techniques.. Â She also researches medieval clothing construction and fabric armor, and has presented her findings at the International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo and published an article in Medieval Clothing and Textiles (Boydell and Brewer) on her study of a 15th century quilted armor.

And of course some talk of the sources and principles of KDF and fighting in general
The section at 54 or so minutes into the video thereâs a very interesting discussion about stillness in fencing, how that relates to the sprechfenster(speaking window) and more general KDF concepts like indes, nachraisen, etc.Â

There is also the term extras that are used as supporting characters with few roles in the film. This is different from the main actors who have bigger and more roles. Being an actor and an actress must be demanded to have good acting talent, which is in accordance with the theme of the film he is starring in. In certain scenes, the actorâs role can be replaced by a stuntman or a stuntman. The existence of a stuntman is important to replace the actors doing scenes that are difficult and extreme, which are usually found in action action films. Films can also be used to convey certain messages from the filmmaker. Some industries also use film to convey and represent their symbols and culture. Filmmaking is also a form of expression, thoughts, ideas, concepts, feelings and moods of a human being visualized in film. The film itself is mostly a fiction, although some are based on fact true stories or based on a true story. There are also documentaries with original and real pictures, or biographical films that tell the story of a character. There are many other popular genre films, ranging from action films, horror films, comedy films, romantic films, fantasy films, thriller films, drama films, science fiction films, crime films, documentaries and others. Thatâs a little information about the definition of film or movie. The information was quoted from various sources and references. Hope it can be useful. In 1889, on November 1 in Gotha, Germany Anna Therese Johanne Hoch, who later would be known as Hannah Hoch was born. Being the eldest of five children, the girl was brought up in a comfortable and quiet environment of the small town. Her parents, a supervisor in an insurance company and an amateur painter sent her to Girlâs High school. However, at the age of 15 Hannah had to quit studying for the long six years to take care of her newborn sister. Only in 1912 she continued her education with Harold Bengen in School of Applied Arts, mastering glass design. As the World War I broke up Hannah returned to the native town to work in the Red Cross. The first years after war the young woman recommenced her studying, getting to know graphic arts. 1915 was highlighted by an acquaintance with an Austrian artist Raoul Hausmann, which grew into the long-lasting romantic relationship and involvement in Berlin Dada movement. For ten years till 1926 Hoch worked in Berlinâs major publisher of newspapers and magazines. Her task was to design embroidering, knitting and crocheting patterns for the booklets. Being on vacation with her beloved in 1918, Hannah discovered âthe principle of photomontage in cut-and-paste images that soldiers sent to their familiesâ (National gallery of Art). This find affected greatly on her artistic production, and she created mass-media photographs comprising the elements of photomontage and handwork patterns, thus combining traditional and modern culture. Her prior preoccupation was to represent the ânew womanâ of the Weimar Republic with new social role and given freedoms. Hoch was the only woman in Berlin Dada, who took part in all kinds of events and exhibitions showcasing her socially critical works of art. Till 1931 she participated in exhibitions but with the rise of National Social regime was forbidden to present her creative work. Till her last breath in 1978 Hannah Hoch lived and worked in the outskirts of Berlin-Heiligensee. The piece of art which is going to be analyzed in this research is âThe beautiful girlâ designed in 1919â1920. It combines the elements of technology and females. In the middle of the picture one can clearly see a woman dressed in a modern bathing suit with a light bulb on her head which probably serves as a sun umbrella. In the background a large advertisement with a womanâs hair-do on top is presented. Maud Lavin describes strange human as âshe is part human, part machine, part commodityâ (Lavin). The woman is surrounded by the images of industrialization as tires, gears, signals and BMW logos. A womanâs profile with the cat eyes, untrusting and skeptical, in the upper right corner is eye-catching as well. This unusually large eye symbolizes DADA movement â a monocle, which is present in almost every Hochâs work. The colour scheme does not offer rich palette of tints, including mostly black, white, orange and red pieces. The photo is surrounded by the BMW circles which add the spots of blue. An apt description of the piece is given in the book âCut with the Kitchen Knifeâ and states that it is âa portrait of a modern woman defined by signs of femininity, technology, media and advertisingâ (Lavin). In other words Hannah Hoch focused on the woman of the new age, free and keeping up with the fast-moving world. The artist promoted feministic ideas and from her point of view urbanization and modern technologies were meant to give hope to woman to gain equality of genders. With this photomontage she commented on how the woman was expected to combine the role of a wife and mother with the role of a worker in the industrialized world. The light bulb instead of a face shows that women were perceived as unthinking machines which do not question their position and can be turned on or off at any time at manâs will. But at the same time they were to remain attractive to satisfy menâs needs. The watch is viewed as the representation of how quickly women are to adapt to the changes. In a nutshell, Hoch concentrated on two opposite visions of the modern woman: the one from the television screens â smoking, working, wearing sexy clothes, voting and the real one who remained being a housewife. The beautiful girlâ is an example of the art within the DADA movement. An artistic and literal current began in 1916 as the reaction to World War I and spread throughout Northern America and Europe. Every single convention was challenged and bourgeois society was scandalized. The Dadaists stated that over-valuing conformity, classism and nationalism among modern cultures led to horrors of the World War I. In other words, they rejected logic and reason and turned to irrationality, chaos and nonsense. The first DADA international Fair was organized in Berlin in 1920 exposing a shocking discontentment with military and German nationalism (Dada. A five minute history). Hannah Hoch was introduced to the world of DADA by Raoul Hausman who together with Kurt Schwitters, Piet Mondrian and Hans Richter was one of the influential artists in the movement. Hoch became the only German woman who referred to DADA. She managed to follow the general Dadaist aesthetic, but at the same time she surely and steadily incorporated a feminist philosophy. Her aim was to submit female equality within the canvass of other DADAâs conceptions. Though Hannah Hoch officially was a member of the movement, she never became the true one, because men saw her only as âa charming and gifted amateur artistâ (Lavin). Hans Richter, an unofficial spokesperson shared his opinion about the only woman in their community in the following words: âthe girl who produced sandwiches, beer and coffee on a limited budgetâ forgetting that she was among the few members with stable income. In spite of the gender oppressions, Hannahâs desire to convey her idea was never weakened. Difficulties only strengthened her and made her an outstanding artist. A note with these return words was found among her possessions: âNone of these men were satisfied with just an ordinary woman. But neither were they included to abandon the (conventional) male/masculine morality toward the woman. Enlightened by Freud, in protest against the older generation⊠they all desired this âNew Womanâ and her groundbreaking will to freedom. But â they more or less brutally rejected the notion that they, too, had to adopt new attitudes⊠This led to these truly Strinbergian dramas that typified the private lives of these menâ (Maloney). Hochâs technique was characterized by fusing male and female parts of the body or bodies of females from different epochs â a âtraditionalâ woman and âmodernâ, liberated and free of sexual stereotypes one. Whatâs more, combining male and female parts, the female ones were always more distinctive and vibrant, while the male ones took their place in the background. Hannah created unique works of art experimenting with paintings, collages, graphic and photography. Her women were made from bits and pieces from dolls, mannequins of brides or children as these members of the society were not considered as valuable. Today Hannah Hoch is most associated with her famous photomontage âCut with the kitchen knife DADA through the last Weimer Beer-Belly Cultural epoch of Germanyâ (1919â1920). This piece of art highlights social confusion during the era of Weimar Republic, oppositionists and government radicals (Grabner). In spite of never being truly accepted by the rest of her society, this woman with a quiet voice managed to speak out loud her feministic message. Looking at Hannah Hochâs art for the first time I found it confusing, because couldnât comprehend the meaning. It was quite obvious that every single piece and structure is a symbol of the era, its ideas and beliefs. However, after having learned about her life and constant endeavors to declare about femaleâs right, little by little I started to realize whatâs what. As an object for research I chose âThe beautiful girlâ as, to my mind, its theme and message intersects with the modern tendency: a successful, clever, beautiful and free woman has to become one in no time, cause the world is moving faster and faster. I enjoyed working with this artist as her example is inspiring and is worth following movies germany film 2021 genzer Mar 18th, 2021
