You Guys Ever Think About Snokoplasm (2008)
I have been pondering snokoplasm, as one does, and besides the influence of 21 year old phil’s incomparable weirdguy charm, I think it stands out so much to me because it’s a really efficient little piece of slice-of-life science fiction.
one hates to make sweeping generalizations about science fiction as a whole when it encompasses so many subgenres and when the conventions shift based on culture of origin, but the perception at least is that (at minimum western) scifi can have a bit of an exposition problem. sometimes there’s kind of no way around it, and the story literally just can’t progress until the audience knows a certain amount, but sometimes you just want to drop the audience in, give them enough real world points of comparison to be able to anchor themselves a bit and identify with what the protagonist considers normal, and have them keep up from there. this is the approach phil takes in snokoplasm.
the main text of the video is about a minute and three seconds. the final 10 seconds are…ambiguous? I’m unclear if this is the intended use of snokoplasm and the vision is simply incomprehensible to me or if it’s just a certified weird phil moment (said with all the reverence it deserves). in that extremely short time, we get all of this information, either explicitly or implicitly:
- snokoplasm is a thing that exists, and it is a common item in this setting we’ve found ourselves in, because phil’s character does not see the need to provide context to an in-universe audience that should already know what it is. it’s an item used frequently enough that one would reasonably run out of it, and running out isn’t a crisis, but it’s still something you’d need often enough to want to replace it pretty quickly.
- there is a store called A47 that stocks snokoplasm. it’s specifically “the local” A47, implying that this is a well known chain at least regionally, and that it’s a pretty common type of shop rather than a niche specialty thing. this supports what we know from the first point. arguably this is also our first real clue that we’ve diverged from our normal universe and this isn’t just some weird shit regular phil found somewhere, in that he’s citing a store that doesn’t exist like it’s a thing everyone knows about, but for those of us who don’t live in the UK it could be dismissed as some british fuckery, so I think the next detail is more of the tipping point. we also find out a couple seconds later that the store exclusively stocks snokoplasm, so it’s clearly a pretty significant market in this society.
- the store is staffed by an exohelper, reenacted with a robotic voice. this is our main notice that we’ve crossed into scifi territory, but it’s just a science fiction-y prefix and overlay to the concept of a shop worker/cashier, so it’s not like we’ve been given too much to keep up with. the exohelper starts out with generic customer service lines, but then gets judgy about his choice of snokoplasm color, culminating in the “he’s just gonna buy the blue snokoplasm off the internet” comment, and it also argues with him on green vs yellow. you can begin to fill in some aspects about a world which has at least partially replaced retail workers with robots, but also gives these new workers a degree of personality beyond blank subservience. I also think it’s worth noting that the exohelper is built so it’s perceived as female, so we get a little bit of insight on gender perception in this society as well.
- the color of snokoplasm you buy may or may not necessarily make a tangible difference in terms of the product’s utility, but it DEFINITELY has societal baggage associated with it. based on phil saying “look at these muscles” as a counterargument to the idea that he’d want the blue snokoplasm, it may be linked to a concept of masculinity, or at least to a broader idea of “toughness”. buying the blue would be an embarrassing thing for him that he shouldn’t want to do in person, but that someone else might assume he does based on some aspect of how he presents himself (other people have delved more into the idea of snokoplasm color as a metaphor for gender roles and sexuality, and anything I could say here would be stolen from them and is also kind of out of scope here since it dips more into thematic interpretation vs literal reading, but I feel I should point it out. also I do think the fact that the exohelper is specifically presented as female adds a layer here)
- we even get a brief hint as to the economy of this society—the snokoplasm he buys costs 14 million…I don’t actually know what he says here sorry. but it’s 14 million of them. this seems to be a pretty normal cost for the product based on his reaction. obviously we cannot calculate any kind of actual value here, in that. well we don’t actually know what snokoplasm is. we will never know what snokoplasm is, because that’s the whole bit, and so we can’t compare to a real world equivalent, but we at least get some kind of baseline for the kind of money someone would be willing to drop on a quick purchase.
that is a lot of information about this world in a very short time but it doesn’t feel like an infodump; it’s convincingly just this guy talking about his slightly weird exchange with a worker on a standard shopping trip. almost a third of the video’s runtime is the “green”/“yellow” back and forth because that’s the only part of this that’s particularly remarkable to our viewpoint character, which means we get all of the rest of that information in like 40-45 seconds.
and obviously there is still a lot we don’t know about the universe this takes place in. we can get as far as “there’s probably not an ongoing immediate catastrophe, because this character would presumably not be making a video about his shopping trip,” but a lot of other things are wide open. but the fact that we can tell this much from one minute of one guy describing a pretty normal day in this society feels like a really strong start.
all of this to say I genuinely think it’s a neat little piece of storytelling contained in this one-off joke video from 16 years ago, and when I say “I want a phil scifi project” I’m not only saying that in an “I love and support phil lester” way (although that is also true). I just really want to see what he’s capable of.
#obviously a lot of the things I’ve listed here are not New Information if you’ve watched the video#but I think it’s interesting to pick it apart to see how these things are accomplished#and it’s cool to see how much you can do with little details like this!#phil Lester#amazingphil#dan and phil#Look At My Snokoplasm Analysis Boy#get bamtwozled

Dating Neige LeBlanche Headcanons
I write Reader/Yuu as female
Masterlist
He’s the absolute epitome of a fairytale prince I swear. Like Snow White, he’s such a forest nymph - animals just flock to him (honestly same)
His favourite pet name for you is ‘dove’ but he does love calling you ‘snowdrop’
He’s so kind and gentle and he’s filled with so much tender adoration ♡
He is fair and beautiful both outside and in and it shows all the time okay
Think of the personification of innocent young romance. He’s that.
You both are constantly giving each other butterflies, it’s adorable.
Since you live in NRC, he likes to send his bird friends to give you his love. Usually white doves would nestle and rub against your cheek, softly cooing, or blue birds would fly to your window with a scented love letter attached to their talons.
Your animal friends are very much acting as your wingmen and they love to playfully push you together
The seven dwarfs love you and have been shipping the two of you since the moment you met
Being a celebrity, he knows the importance of privacy and whether you want your relationship to be secret or public he’ll be 1000% supportive
If you’re comfortable with a public relationship, he’s definitely written at least one love song thinking about you
You’re the first person to get any of his new products - even the ones that aren’t even released yet
One the first things he does with you, before you even start dating, is show you his secret hideout in RSA and the wishing well he loves to sit and sing by
He has a white mare and he loves it when you ride with him
His favourite pieces of outerwear are his cherry red cape, cloak and jacket and he just loves to drape them over you (you love it more since they never fail to carry his scent)
Berry picking dates! Strolls along the forest dates! Baking dates! Just being in each others’ presence dates!
Definitely an acts of service kind of guy
Prince Rielle is the president of your ship (this doesn’t really have anything to do with the headcanons I just wanted to get that out there)
This sweetheart just lives for forehead and cheek kisses (both giving and receiving)
He’ll take any opportunity to sing - his motto is ‘with a smile and a song’ after all
He’s very much a classical romantic and absolutely adores poetry
He likes to dance with you - he gets so excited waltzing with you in public but the intimacy of being alone with you is incomparable
He never fails to give you a bouquet of flowers (if that’s your thing) whenever he meets you no matter how swift or mundane the meeting is
He’s so considerate and open about everything. He only tries to hide his feelings when he gets upset or overwhelmed or not as sunny as he usually is - not necessarily because he wants to keep things from you but because he knows that if you see him upset, you’ll get upset and he never wants to see you upset. This only lasts for a minute at most because he hates keeping things from you and you can see right through him (not that it’s an easy feat - this boy is an award-winning actor)
He’s a king at sympathy and comfort and always knows exactly what to do when you’re feeling down
The both of you like to read and act out fairy tales together.
If you enjoy singing, you bet that he’d duet with you
He never fails to text you good morning and goodnight
He’s only got one heart that’s constantly singing one song, only for you.

The eighth sin
When a part of the land on the territory of an Irish women's convent was given to the Vikings' settlement, the nuns had to learn how to coexist with people who stroke deadly fear into them.
A young nun Erin catches Ivar's eye and now her faith undergoes severe questioning
🔴Warnings: religion, slight dubious consent, first kiss, mentioning of alcohol, smut, slow burn
Chapter masterlist
Chapter II, Gula (Gluttony)
Prime, that is the first service of the day, was not bad. Singing has always been Erin's favorite activity which lifted her up closer to God and inspired hope for soon-to-be marriage to her Beloved. She was coming to the age of nineteen or so and, in fact, could have taken the solemn vow two, almost three years ago. But on the first possible occasion she suddenly got her first bleeding which was a little bit late, and yet, considered to be unclean, she couldn’t desecrate the name of Christ.
And then the raids broke out.
The pagans pillaged and burned the towns and churches. Erin still remembered that dreadful summer when thick smog and flakes of ashes blown with southern winds poisoned the air, and with tears in their eyes they were praying endlessly for their village and convent wouldn't turn into the dust.
The St Patrick's Cathedral where ceremonies took place didn't survive the invasion. Erin saw it once when they were summoned to assist the doctors because the damage done was incomparable to any their country had ever seen before.
Her heart ached at the sight at the ruins the barbarians turned the place into. And even worse was the fate of a women's convent.
If St Patrick's was ruined but still stood and there was a chance for rebuilding, St Vincent's convent went on living in their prayers only. What was left of it was a black hole and burned stones. The nuns were raped and killed, many killed themselves, some of them, Erin heard, damaged their faces, cut their cheeks, lips or noses to disgust the pagans. Almost all of them were eventually murdered. The ones who were not as lucky - because that was the only suitable word for sisters who were granted with the bliss of oblivion – were taken by Norsemen. Sister Anne, who Erin used to be friends with, as they both assisted to midwives in the village, couldn't avoid the terrifying fate that was waiting for her. A pagan from the band who raided their convent made her his wife. That's what Erin heard about her and wasn't even sure she was alive. She used to pray for her not to be, for what could be worse than having survived what she had.
That's why everyone was overwhelmed with terror because the Norsemen living close to them also put their hands to destructions at first but didn’t have especially much time as making a pact with the king prevented this plague which was brought upon their lands from spreading further.
And more to that many of the nuns had already taken the vow and, supposed to be living in enclosure, did not expect to find themselves among the pagans.
The settlement the Norsemen established near the convent was not the only one, there were several spread across their province. Some who came there solely on the purpose of raiding and killing even lived among the villagers. They all kept their province safe but nobody could stop them from plundering the neighboring, especially with the king's support whose aim was expansion of the lands.
So, if Prime was quite bearable, the Bible listening was a torture. The morning coldness, silent rustle of pages, and Abbess's creaky monotonous voice were all like a lullaby for Erin who barely slept that night. From time to time her eyelids closed and she dozed off but came round scolding herself for this weakness.
***
It was Maeve and her turn to weed. She hurried to the garden until the sun started to heat with all its might. Maeve said she had something to do and would join her very soon.
The work was pretty monotonous but had her focused on the small wild bristles among parsley stems and so kept her from falling asleep on the garden bed. She was enjoying the warm wind and the singing of birds and was all deep in her thoughts when a sudden crunch of a branch made her almost jump to her feet. She was ready to see Maeve and already had a couple of words to say to her for being so slow, but it was not her.
'Hey, animal lover,' he was standing on the path, looking down at her. 'How’s the work going?'
'If you think it's funny, it is not,' she said with restraint.
He smiled, biting at a straw hanging from the corner of his mouth. He was swinging two empty buckets in his hand, thus, heading to the well, and she hoped he'd be gone soon.
They used their well to take water from. One should pay them the tribute in fact. The Norsemen weren't living there as freeloaders. They did a great amount of work both for their settlement and to help the convent whenever they could. So it was fair for them to ask to use the convent's resources from time to time.
'Your friend was delicious...there's still left some, just in case you want to say goodbye or something.'
'Have you walked all the way here to mock me or got things to do?' she nodded at the buckets. She got up to her feet and moved to another bed farther from him. But it didn’t help because the Norseman stepped over the garden bed and she found him even closer.
He looked right into her eyes so confidently that she had to avert hers from his face.
'Alright, sorry,' he gave a bit of laughter. 'I'm really glad I found you here. Yesterday I thought we scared you and that little girl. Believe me we didn't mean to. You fled too fast, we didn't even have a chance to know each other. So I just thought that maybe I could ask for your name, at least?'
'What for?' She stiffened and looked around. They were alone here. Where on earth is Maeve at?
He shrugged his shoulders. 'Just hoped to become friends one day since we're neighbors'
'Friends?' she scoffed because it was just too ridiculous to hear. 'I’m not even allowed to talk to you.'
He raised one brow leniently, looking at the girl.
'Who forbade you?'
'The god.' She picked up her tools from the ground and headed away from him.
'So you won't tell me your name?'
'No.'
She heard him sneer loudly and she felt even more irritated.
'I’m Ivar, by the way.' Erin heard behind her. She ignored it and started walking so fast in attempt to get away that nearly ran into Maeve.
‘Have you already done all the work, sister Erin?’ Maeve was surprised indeed because Erin hasn’t been in the garden even for a full hour.
‘What took you so long?’ she asked scornfully but by the look on Maeve's face she understood that she probably crossed the line.
‘Abbess sent for me, I had to… sorry, I could go there alone, and you can have some rest! I'm really sorry sister Erin!’ she mumbled guiltily.
‘No-no, it’s not your fault, Maeve!’ Erin pulled herself together. 'I think we could finish it in the evening, it's getting too hot.'
‘But it is yet a pretty suitable weather for gardening.’ Maeve still looked kind of frustrated.
‘Just don’t go there. You could go and ask if some help in the kitchen is needed, since Sister Sybil has fallen ill.’ Erin said. Maeve was old enough to do things herself but always was so shy that needed someone to direct her all the time.
When new girls joined the sisterhood, each of them had an older nun to help them to adapt. But Maeve seemed to have only partially adjusted to her new home even for four years. She still felt and was considered to be a newbie because since the days when raids started, more families preferred to keep their daughters with them. And since now there certainly won’t be any newcomers with all the pagans around.
When Maeve ran to the kitchen, Erin put the tools back to the barn, slightly annoyed at having to get back to it again because of her cowardice. Even though she told Maeve they’re not dangerous, she didn’t seem to believe her words herself. At least, now she could go with other sisters to pick berries in the nearest woods, which she preferred more to weeding.
***
The woods started right behind their chapel over the hill. And its closeness terrified the nuns as forests and woods were places pagans used for hiding and attacking people. And it is only this summer after two years that they finally were not afraid to go there.
They chatted merrily while filing their baskets with juicy berries of cranberries and red and black current. And they would continue if not for the Norsemen.
‘Is there anyone in charge for you?’ A tall bearded man came to the girls who were picking the strawberries. They looked at him in frustration wondering what he wanted. ‘Call it a day, ladies. Time for hunting.’
All the men were carrying bows and spears. Some were topless and the nuns had to shamefully avert their eyes in other directions.
‘Hello, Erin.’ The girl shrugged from the sound of a male voice calling her by her name. She looked back at Ivar who passed her by with a sly smile on his face. He was carrying a bow and a quiver filled with arrows.
Her insides clench. The fear of shame overwhelmed her. It means he must have asked someone. About her. She never told him her name and sure as the day nor to any other pagan.
What might it look like? Do you happen to know that nun’s name? To become friends, that’s how he puts it? Oh, gracious God, when has she sinned that much to catch attention of a pagan? She looked around. Sisters just talked to her the whole day as if nothing happened. They would make it clear if they knew somebody was interested in one of them. But Neither of the sisters came to talk to her, neither cast a disapproving glance.
‘I was just wondering,’ Sister Karen and Sister Nora caught up with her as they were going back to the convent. Nora was a cloistered nun* over thirty and used to be Erin’s mentor, but mostly a nanny, when she arrived at the convent. Karen was Erin’s age but she has already taken her vow during that ceremony Erin couldn’t attend. ‘How are we going to live in enclosure with these pagans around us?’
‘It’s a rough time, Sister Karen, we shall bear it with dignity.’ Just as Abbess, Nora wore exclusively back dress and veil and despite of quite hot weather didn’t seem to be suffering from heat. ‘Our faith and love to Almighty is being tested.’
‘I think we should stop helping them and accepting their help. They cross the line sometimes. Have you seen what they were doing yesterday? Unspeakable! I’m sure the devil sent them to pervert and corrupt us.’
Since the day the Norsemen came they started building a weird place, resembling a house but definitely it was not a house because it was too small. It looked like a hut and the convent inhabitants were wondering what it might be.
And yesterday after everybody went to sleep some nuns noticed the smoke coming from the opposite side of the bonfire the pagans made.
The Abbess rang the bell raising the alarm and they all hurried to leave the building thinking the drunk pagans had started a fire. But once they were outside, a loud “oh” rattled among them and they, like one, covered their eyes and their faces, rushing back nearly knocking Abbess off her feet.
No, it was not a fire. It turned out to be a bath house and the Norsemen were walking out there absolutely naked. Men and women together, like they had no shame at all.
‘And it disturbs me even more, sister Nora,’ Karen went on, ‘that some girls seem to have established a scandalous friendship with those pagans. I hope God will punish them for their infidelity.’
Sister Nora frowned. ‘I think you shouldn’t be so headfirst, Karen. Can you tell the names of our sisters who you think were involved with such kind of a friendship?’
‘No, I can’t tell names, unfortunately, but I saw them with my own eyes.’
‘Then I think you should be more occupied with your labor, Karen dear, don’t upset yourself over the others. If what you say is true and if you happen to know who it is, then we’ll try to talk sense into them, I’m sure it’s a momentary weakness and God will be forgiving if they repent.’
Erin was all a swirl of nerves and emotions. Karen knows. She knows about her.
‘What’s on your mind, Sister Erin?’ Nora turned to the girl.
‘Huh?’ She raised her eyes at them.
‘You look preoccupied the whole day, is there something troubling you?’
‘Ah, no, not at all. Slept unwell’s all.’ Erin mumbled shaking her head.
Karen scoffed. ‘Who wouldn’t? After such wickedness we all witnessed yesterday!’
***
It was an hour for the Bible reading before the evening service and Erin settled on the bench in the garden. She would always come here if the weather allowed. It was her favorite place, calm and solitary. It was believe to attract snakes from the woods and so was avoided by most nuns. Erin wasn’t especially scared of snakes and that’s why she chose this place, knowing that nobody would disturb her here.
But today she was wrong.
Just as she opened the book a slight movement behind the barn caught her eye. She got up just a little and to see what it was and her mouth gaped at what she saw.
Sister Aislin and a tall fair-haired Norseman stood there half hidden in the green branches of an apple tree. Erin saw her smiling at him and when he gave her a kiss on her cheek, almost reaching her lips, she didn’t flinch or protest. She then pressed her finger to his mouth in a teasing manner and when she turned to walk away he caught her hand again and pressed it to his lips.
Erin was shocked and horrified that she froze where she sat, watching Aislin, radiating from her sinful happiness, heading towards her.
She probably had no clue Erin was there because her eyes widened with horror when she saw the girl. And by the look at Erin’s face she understood that she’d seen everything. Her steps hurried and soon she was standing in front of Erin, all pale, even her lips, as if all the blood evaporated from her face.
She opened her mouth as if about to say something but seemed to be at a loss. They were looking at each other speechless.
‘Please, Erin.’ Aislin finally managed. She has always had a way with words and Erin felt a pang of compassion seeing her like that. ‘Don’t tell anyone, please.’ she pressed her hand to her chest as if holding her heart from jumping out.
‘I… I won’t.’ Erin knew what it would lead to if Abbess knows. ‘But…Aislin, are you absolutely sure about what you are doing?’ Erin whispered.
‘Don’t look at me like that. I know what it looks like but…’ she shook her head. ‘Please, Erin, promise me. Swear that, in the name of God, you won’t say anything!’ she clenched at her hands, almost kneeling in front of her.
‘I can’t swear on God, Aislin, you know that. I promise I won’t tell. But you should stop it. Erin looked around to check if nobody’s observing the scene.
‘Thank you...’ She nodded meekly and finally retreated lowering her head as if it could help not to see all the shame she’s brought upon herself.
Still preoccupied with the sinful scene her Holy Sister took part in, she could barely concentrate on reading. She just managed to finish a couple of pages when she saw Ivar coming up to her.
‘Are you following me?’ she sighed.
‘It wouldn’t seem like that if you stopped running away, Erin.’ He shrugged his shoulders, settling on the bench next to her.
‘How do you know my name? I never told you.’ She turned another page pretending to be occupied with the book, but in fact she was not, it even rushed out of her mind whose revelation she was reading.
‘You know how we learn things… from here and there…’ he dodged. ‘It is very beautiful, by the way. And suits you well.
‘What do you need from me? Ivar.’ She looked him in the eyes. A white rose sticking out of his pocket caught her eye. It seemed so pure and strangely inappropriate in the contrast with his dusty worn out clothes.
‘Oh, you remember my name. It’s a good sign. Means that there’s still hope for me.’ He gave her a lip smile.
‘Hope for what?’
‘For becoming friends.’
But Erin wasn’t living in complete ignorance even though she was taught and prepared to take a holy vow. She knew exactly why he keeps coming, and friendship had little to do with it. And more to that, she has just witnessed what this ‘friendship’ can lead to. Or is it just because she wanted to see it like this? She shrugged at the thought. It’s the devil who’s testing her, no doubts.
‘I’m not stupid, Ivar! I know what you’re trying to initiate.’ She decided to be straightforward with him. ‘You just don’t get it! I’m going to be married soon.’
‘Married? To whom?’ he was slightly confused.
‘To Jesus Christ. And I can’t talk to you because you’re a pagan. Your ways are sick.’ She looked at him with pure disgust at her face. She couldn’t believe how Aislin could ever fall for one of them.
‘To Jesus Christ? That dead guy hanging on the cross?’ he looked at the girl sarcastically, the corner of his mouth tugged upwards. ‘And you say our ways are sick?’
She got up, absolutely irritated. Why try to talk sense into this ignorant person? But he jumped to his feet at the same time with her and nimbly caught her by the hand. He let go of it but slightly held on to her fingers. She moved her hand to release it.
‘There, you’re running away again. Look, Erin, I don’t mean to offend you. I’m not your enemy. But you can’t truly be married to somebody who’s not even alive.’
She saw him smirking but also it seemed to her that she caught a glimpse of doubt in his eyes.
‘We were promised that we’ll reunite with him after death which would be eternal bliss, and so we have to be faithful and loyal to him.’
‘And you avoid men so that you don’t accidentally get seduced?’
‘What? No… it’s not that. I don’t avoid men! Only those whose belief allows committing ghastly things.’ She gasped from such an audacity.
He sneered, but she wanted to believe that she hit target revealing who he really is.
‘Yes-yes, I believe you. I’m just joking, don’t listen to me.’ He laughed cutting her off before she could say anything else. ‘I now see that you’re righteous about your beliefs.’ she raised her eyes at him trying to figure out if he was being serious or sarcastic again.
‘In fact, I’ve got something for you’. He took out the flower from his pocket and handed it to her. She wasn’t thinking why she did it. But she took it from his hands. ‘I thought about you when I saw it… and it reminded of you even more when I tried to pick it up, but it scratched all my fingers first.’ He smiled light-heartedly. And Erin couldn’t resist but scoffing too.
‘I can’t accept it from you, I just told you why.’ She handed it back to him but he didn’t take it.
‘Well, just have it, let’s pretend you’re not accepting it, but… it’s just a flower. You’ve got lots of these,’ he gestured at the garden, colorful from all kinds of plants. ‘I take your God’s not against flowers, right?’ He looked at the girl.
‘No, he is not…’ she said, twisting the flower in her fingers. It was beautiful. Its petals started to get blackened at the edges because it was ripped out of its roots probably more than a couple of hours ago, but it was still lovely and gentle.
‘Well, I’ve got to go… was nice to see you, Erin.’
She watched him go and looked up in the sky. It was impeccably blue, not a single cloud to cover her wickedness from God. But He has eyes everywhere, as Abbess always told them. He is in everything. Erin just silently hoped he might forgive her for the thoughts she allowed herself to think. Because it was not irritation only she started feeling towards this arrogant Norseman. But also different ones which made her heart pound whenever he came near.
‘Sister Erin!’ She didn’t think of anything good but to throw the flower inside the book.
‘I knew I’d find you here. You’re running late to the confession.’ Maeve was breathing heavily from running and started coughing. She was in fact coughing the whole morning and Erin was concerned about it but Maeve said she was fine.
Erin’s eyes grew wide ‘What? Oh, God!’ she rushed to the chapel with Maeve alongside, burning with shame for losing a track of time while talking to Ivar. That’s how easy she chose a company of a pagan over God’s.
***
‘Why are you late?’ Abbess’s lips were tight and her eyes were so piercing they might cut you if they could.
‘I…’ she suddenly lacked all the words under her gaze. ‘I was too preoccupied with my Bible and lost the track of time.’
She didn’t hit her, nor made a single move. But the flashbacks of the stick on her back hit Erin even with a stronger force. Abbess didn’t beat the grown-up nuns anymore but when they were smaller, she was never greedy for whipping. Sometimes Erin and the nuns seemed to be afraid of her more than of God’s wrath. And sometimes they even questioned themselves if, with His son preaching love and forgiveness, God really was as wrathful as Abbess pictured Him.
The chapel was silent. Scared to breathe, the nuns were watching Erin walking to her seat.
‘We could start.’ Everybody meekly lowered their heads. Erin turned her head and her eyes met Sister Aislin’s. She looked so pale she was almost the same color as the walls of the chapel. Always so cheerful and talkative, Erin has never seen her this faded.
‘So, anybody?’ She asked almost every girl to stand up because everyone was the witness to what was happening.
‘Yes, Abbess! Maeve jumped from her seat. ‘I want to confess about what my eyes saw yesterday! I was in front when we went outside and I saw everything! I wished I could wash my eyes with soap. I prayed half of the night and even today, even in my thoughts!’ she looked so disturbed that some nuns couldn’t help but smiling secretly.
‘Good, Maeve! You can take your seat.’ Abbess nodded, satisfied, ‘Anyone else?’ Sister Aislin?’
She got up. ‘No abbess. Only for yesterday.’
‘Sister Erin? You’ve been with Maeve.’
Erin got up ‘No, Abbess.’
‘How come you have got nothing to confess? Haven’t you seen the shame that was performed yesterday? Have you not been tempted?’
‘No abbess, I was standing behind and couldn’t see much. And I didn’t look,’ she added in case Abbess wouldn’t interpret her words the way she wanted. ‘I can only be sorry for my being absent-minded today, what became the reason why I was late to the confession.’
No, she won’t tell her about Aislin, of course not. It was on her conscience, not on Erin’s. It was not her sin to confess.
‘Yes, you’d better be sorry for being too comfortable to blame The Holy Bible while making excuses for your idleness.’
Erin finally sat down and Abbess went on searching for another victim. Aislin took a quick side look at her which was filled with gratitude and Erin could notice her shoulders relaxed.
Everybody knew what a confession should be like. It’s a private one on one conversation with a priest or, if it’s not possible as in their case, a whispering talk with a spiritual guide while everyone else is waiting for their turn. But of course there was no privacy. And Abbess made the nuns stand up and confess in front of everyone, even when some of them would rather have a private talk. She seemed to find certain pleasure in their humiliation, probably believing this would be more effective. However, such methods eventually led to the nuns holding back things they’d be glad to get off their chests. Erin could point at several Sister who she was sure were not making a proper confession, including herself and saying nothing of Aislin.
After the confession was over, they began their evening service. They were praying, this time as one asking God to forgive them for what their eyes have seen. Maeve was whispering so energetically that she started coughing even harder than in the morning. She tried to hold it back not to disturb anyone but soon her face got red and another spasm of severe suffocating cough hit her with all its might.
‘See. The devil leaves her body. Pray more, Sisters, pray your sins away!’ Abbess’s shrill voice bounced from the walls.
Then Maeve let out a long breathless cough and finally could calm down.
Erin put her hand on Maeve’s shoulder. ‘Are you alright?’
Maeve’s face was red and tear-stained but she weakly nodded her head.
***
They both kneeled each in front of their bed facing a wooden crucifix on the wall. Erin put her hands in the prayer and was ready to be filled with bliss from the conversation with the Holy Father when a bulge in the middle of her Bible caught her eye. For a moment she panicked thinking that the book must have got wet somehow and she didn’t notice. She reached for it and opened at the place where the bulge was formed and her eyes widened from horror. The rose. She has completely forgotten about the flower Ivar gave her.
Goosebumps crept up her spine. It lay there, now almost dry, between the pages marking the holy words. She slammed the book shut before Maeve could see it.
Erin’s hand was shaking as she tried to cross herself. This reminder was like a slap on her cheek, worse than being humiliated by the Abbess at the confession.
Ivar. She suddenly realized that it was his name she was whispering instead of her prayer, as if tasting it. It rumbled like thunder. Fearsome and formidable. She sqeezed her eyes shut trying to get rid of he thoughts of him, but there he was eyeing her with his blue eyes, pushing the straw from one corner of his mouth into the other. And devilishly handsome. This she couldn't admit nor deny even to herself and so tried to chase this thought away, to push it to the back of her mind.
‘That dead guy hanging on the cross?’ she raised her eyes at the cross where Jesus was crucified, pain and agony on his face. ‘You can’t truly be married to someone who’s not even alive.’
What loathsome words to say! She tried to preach Aislin but how was she better herself? Talking to that pagan, taking gifts from him. She got up from her knees with emptiness in her soul.
In the silence of the room Erin heard Maeve’s heavy wheezing breath and the anxiety returned. She would always talk before they went to bed until Erin told her to go to sleep. But the girl was weirdly quiet the whole evening.
‘Maeve?’ Erin called. The girl shifted in her bed. Erin came up to her. Even from a distance she felt warmth radiating from Maeve’s body. She lit her face with the lamp. The girl’s cheeks were red and her hair stuck to her sweaty face.
‘I’m not feeling well, sister Erin,’ she weakly turned her head towards Erin. The movement made her cough again.
Erin lowered herself at her bed and touched Maeve’s forehead.
‘Oh my God, Maeve, you’re all feverish. We need a doctor to see you! I’m going to call for Abbess.’
She put on her clothes in a hurry but suddenly remembered about the flower hidden in her Bible. It was a good chance to get rid of it now while no one’s watching. She took it out but for some reason her all self rebelled. She’s been living in enclosure for her whole life, was always righteous, diligent and pious. Why should she be punished for a flower God knows she wasn’t going to accept. She put the rose inside her nightstand. She wanted to keep it. She didn’t know why but for the first time of her life she wanted something for herself.
While walking past quiet rooms, lighting the way in front of her, she heard a voice ringing in her head that sounded like hers but maybe it was God trying to reach to her.
‘What is it that you don’t have enough, Erin?’
* a cloistered nun - the nun who has taken a holy vow of poverty, chasity and obedience and is strictly bound by her Rule to stay in her monastery or enclosure.

Things I Love About Finland #4 - Social Security
I know this topic might draw some objections from the Finns. Of course, in the past year there have been a lot of cuts to social benefits, various payouts and taxes were raised. I have an educated guess it might have to do with increasing the defence budget. However, it is still much better than in most countries.
There's the free healthcare. Well, for citizens anyway. And the hospitals are well-funded, from what I saw. They look very modern and have all the needed equipment. And there's been some negative experiences but I know a friend of mine went for a check-up, learned she had a blocked heart artery, and was immediately operated on. The bill came for 42e. And even for people like me, there's basic healthcare and free medication when we need it.
There's child support, even for non-citizens. The delivery and aftercare are all free and you get child benefits and medical support.
There's free education and the schools are nice and well-equipped , no matter where you are. I've heard there's been some decline in education in recent decades, but it's still very good.
On the most basic level, it's just easier to survive.
It's pretty easy to get food. It might not always be great food, but you won't go hungry. At least in the big and medium cities, there are churches where you can get free food almost daily and also there are food banks that give up food and some things.
As for stuff, it's also rather easy to get. If you look at online marketplaces like Tori, you'll find everything from furniture to clothing given away for free or really cheap. Some Finns are even willing to deliver it to you.
The public housing isn't always great. BUT it's still incomparably better than even the lower medium housing where I live. It's generally clean and all the houses are well-maintained, as well as the adjacent spaces.
I haven't seen any homeless people or stray pets in the year that I've lived here. There is consideration for disabled people and elderly. There are special bathrooms in every shop and office. You see a lot of disabled and elderly people on modern electric wheelchairs. They look content.
I realize my experience is limited and there are always some issues but I still have the impression that here people are cared for. You can get help when you need it and you feel like people who work in social services and healthcare genuinely try to help you, not just do the bare minimum.
#finland#textpost#don't have much time for writing lately but I'll try to do more of these when I can

Swordtember 2023 Final Collage

Here's the final results for this year's Swordtember! As always it's been a delight to do. When I first saw the prompt was based around owners/wielders (something I knew I wouldn't be drawing) I wasn't sure if I'd like it as well as previous lists. But I'm proud nonetheless of where the ideas have taken me. Huge thanks to all my friends for supporting me and having nice things to say! Until next time.
Here's a link to the master list of every individual post.
Blurbs for all the swords are under the cut.
Witch- This sword belongs to the sole occupant of an eerie wooden hovel on the far edge of a bog. The runes traced on its blade glow unnervingly, and it reeks of indistinguishable concoctions. Though it isn’t wielded by a trained warrior or a paragon of physical strength, this weapon should be respected and feared by anyone who wants to retain their non-frogified form.
Wizard- This sword belongs to a wizard known by many names- Olórin, Mithrandir, Grey Pilgrim, the Grey, the White, servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor, or simply Gandalf. A relic of the First Age of Middle-Earth, its blue-tinged bladed bears its name in runes: Glamdring, the Foe-Hammer.
Rogue- This sword belongs to a marine mercenary who frequents the disreputable dockside taverns of a port town to ply his trade. For the right price, his services cover everything from larceny to bodyguarding to assassination. His techniques may not be the most refined, but the damage inflicted by the wicked hook of his blade is evidence enough that they are brutally effective.
Dragonslayer- This sword belongs to a reclusive warrior of countless years. Long ago were the days when dragons roamed the sky in great number. This warrior is among the few survivors of the band who came together to drive the dragons into parts unknown. The jade of this sword hums with the energy needed to pierce through any dragon’s magical resistance.
Spymaster- This sword belongs to a royal spymaster and never leaves their side. Though its wielder operates as much in light as they do in shadow, this sword still conceals a few tricks- namely, the hidden compartment in the hilt used to subtly transport written plans or occasionally crucial devices. The symbol on the hilt is used as an identifying sign by their agents.
Knight Errant- This sword belongs to a paragon of the chivalric age. Wandering the lands without castle or title, this knight seeks only to live by the ideals of the code, providing for the unfortunate and thwarting the wicked. It’s rumored that once the knight has wandered long enough to purge their past misdeeds completely, they may at long last witness the incomparable relic they once sought so fervently- none other than the Holy Grail.
Oracle- This sword belongs to a priestess who dwells in an ancient temple. Archaic in appearance, temperament, and vocabulary, she speaks the words of the visions that come to her- not always to the pleasure of those who came seeking them. The sword is her defense against any pilgrim that might unwisely choose to violently object to the sights she sees. In more normal circumstances, the sword itself is used to channel oracular magic through the lens inset in the blade.
Jester- This sword contains the essence of Marx, an innocuous-seeming jester who once schemed to gain ultimate power over the world of Popstar with a wish. Revealed in his true form, his glittering wings reflected prismatically, and the stars of the Milky Way swirled behind him. He was defeated by Kirby, who returned triumphantly home and proceeded to take a nap.
Royal Hunt Leader- This sword belongs to a well respected huntmaster, proud owner of several breeds of hunting hounds. The leather wrapping on its horn hilt matches the leather collars in place on the dog heads carved at either end of the crosspiece. It’s said that between her dogs’ uncanny tracking and her own keen intuition, there’s no place in the royal lands she doesn’t know.
Healer- This sword belongs to a pragmatic and dependable cleric of a sun deity. The runes on its crosspiece allow them to channel divine magic through the weapon- but, if that well of power is overdrawn, the bandages and spare flask of potion are helpful as backups for tight situations.
Queen- This sword is one of a pair. A more offensively balanced blade, its wielder prefers to make the first move.
King- This sword is one of a pair. A defensively balanced blade, its wielder prefers to let enemies come to them.
Royal Heir- This sword has been passed down from ancient times, but the ages have not dulled its blade or its shine. The gemstone inset in its crosspiece holds a magic that can only be awoken by a member of the Laputian royal bloodline.
Royal Guard- This sword is a hypothetical fusion of the Royal Guard’s Sword and the Master Sword. A sufficiently skilled smith may well have been able to fashion a replica of the latter in the style of the former, if calamity had not struck.
Enchanter- This sword was commissioned from a master weaponsmith and enchanter, who was instructed to provide as many sockets for magic gems as possible. This blade boasts a whopping 16 available sockets, well above the count that would normally be advisable. The fact that the weapon still remains as stable as it does is a testament to the enchanter’s craft.
River-spirit- Infused with the energy of a whitewater river, this sword surges fiercely in its holder’s grasp, and churning spray constantly emanates from it. Whoever would hope to wield this blade must possess sufficient strength to keep the rapids’ coursing power in line.
Forest Spirit- This sword belongs to an elusive guardian of the forest who shows no mercy to trespassers or those with ill intent. Though some believe her to be a human living among the wilds, others are convinced she must be a spirit- no mortal could move as quickly, travel as unerringly, and vanish away so entirely. No encounter with her has lasted long enough to produce a certain answer.
Bard- This sword belongs to Red, previously a lauded singer before her voice was stolen in a botched altercation. She wields this weapon, the Transistor, in an effort to strike back against those who took that from her. A familiar voice speaks from within the blade to to guide her.
Alchemist- This sword belongs to an enterprising alchemist who spends a good deal of time away from their facilities. Rather than carry pre-brewed potions, they've installed an apparatus that can draw from flasks of certain base essentia to synthesize any needed brews on the fly.
Summoner- This sword belongs to a mage tasked with defending a kingdom by calling upon allies from distant worlds. It has historically taken many forms, but has appeared in this day and age as a sword. Its centerpiece forms a socket for the focus the mage uses to summon.
Mermaid- This sword appears to have been assembled using a shattered bowsprit from a shipwreck. It washed ashore and sparked debate on whether it was a prank or if a real mermaid could have made it. If so, the question is: just how big was that mermaid?
Vampire- This sword belongs to a particularly vain vampire noble, who takes every opportunity to show it off. The markings on the blade are enchanted to glow according to the phase of the moon.
Vampire Hunter- This sword belongs to a well-traveled warrior who has sworn an oath to use the power of the sun to vanquish the creatures of the night. Monsters and dark creatures alike recoil at the sight of this whip-like blade.
Barbarian- This sword belongs to a brash, impatient barbarian who wields it with reckless abandon. Thanks to a combination of heavy use and unwillingness to bother with whetstones, its owner has dulled many blades in the past. He was finally convinced to take up a weapon that could still be effective while unsharpened.
Inquisitor- This sword is issued to the heavily armored Inquisitors of an unnamed sect. Though their rank is Inquisitor, they actually do very little questioning themselves- instead their role is largely to impose, intimidate, and where necessary, put their heavy blades to use in rooting out dissension.
Artificer- This sword belongs to a tinkerer with an incessant desire for improvement. Its modular design allows it to change forms between longsword and greatsword as the situation calls for it. In its larger form, its crystalline power source is visible.
Assassin- This sword belongs to a lethal covert operative. Its ethereal blade can be summoned or dispelled at will, and makes short work of even heavy armor- the blade passes through it as if it weren't even there.
Druid- This sword was recovered from the remnants of a standing stone circle. Its weathered shape is covered with signs of age, faded mystic carvings, and mossy patches. Its original owner is lost to time, but the one who wields it now gives new life to the ancient druidic lineage.
Paladin- This blade belongs to a zealous warrior who has sworn an oath to bring light to the dark places of the world. Radiant power infuses this blade at all times, causing it to emit a constant glow and a holy aura.
Necromancer- This sword, in the shape of a looming, leering skull, is carried by a wicked practitioner of dark magic. The bite of this blade isn't to be feared, but the withering curse it inflicts on its victims most certainly is.
#my art#swordtember#i may not do a lot of art but every time i do this i do get more familiar with the tools and the style i want to do#one person mentioned looking at this year's stuff vs stuff from a couple of years ago felt like a NES -> SNES level visual upgrade#which i thought was about the best praise this project could have received#btw i love hearing people's favorites so if you reblog with that in the tags it would be endlessly delightful#i talk a lot in tags#long post

Archmage Rolan Rebuilds Tower, Vows Service to City of Baldur’s Gate
Featured Guest Article by Calia Steelheart
All will remember that fateful day on which the towering mage’s keep fell within our brave walls, formerly owned by one curiously absent Ramazith, on the very spot where we have watched a new tower rise from the ashes of this great city. Readers may recall our very own Baldur’s Mouth story that first detailed the young prodigious Archmage’s ousting of the previous owner of Sorcerous Sundries, and in this featured article we explore his historic rise and the soon-to-be public grand opening of Rolan’s Tower.
Having survived the Descent of Elturel and journeyed to a new start in Baldur’s Gate, the Archwizard Rolan exemplifies the determination and perseverance of our great city, forsaking the previous tower to join the brave adventurers in their climactic fight on the historic day that it fell. One source close to the wizard who wished to remain anonymous stated “Credit where it’s due – he’s certainly come a long way. Haven’t we all, darling?”. Another source declined to provide an official comment, however, was overheard making the following utterance in private communication in reference to the battle for Baldur’s Gate, paraphrased for this publication, “he proved capable when it mattered most, it has been an honour to [fight against] those who threaten my kin alongside him.”
Whilst maintaining a famous humility despite his considerable achievements on behalf of the city thus far, Rolan has demonstrated exceptional talent as a wizardly scholar, which he intends to put to use for the good of the citizens of Baldur’s Gate. Archmage Gale Dekarios of Waterdeep provided an exclusive interview, sharing his insights on our own city’s Archmage’s capabilities. “You may imagine that wizards are bound to recapitulate the same spells ad infinitum – but quite the opposite. Unique is his ability to craft his own path through the Weave, to dance through it as though hearing a bright new melody where the rest of us hum the same tired tune. Now, his signature magnum opus, as it were, is of course the mighty wave of thunder, but nary has there been a more studious disciple of the arcane arts, and none more committed to distributing the abundance of his intellect. That is not to discount the incomparable deeds of other wizards of legendary note of course, amongst which I fancy I also feature.” Due to limitations of space permitted for print of this article, the remainder of Dekarios’s words will be printed in the next issue of Baldur’s Mouth.
With the ongoing construction and anticipated reopening of his Tower, Rolan himself has provided the following words to all who find themselves in the city, both local and newcomer alike, “I am thankful for all who have come together to assist in rebuilding the tower in my name. I am committed to being the wizard that the people of this city deserve and will not hide behind illusions or cheap tricks. Baldur’s Gate has welcomed me, and my family, and I intend to welcome it back. Once my doors are open, you will find the tower a place of learning for all, and one to be boasted along the Sword Coast, I assure you.”
Wyll Ravengard, son of the Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard, speaks highly of Archmage Rolan, stating “There is no doubt in my mind or in my heart that he will make good on his promises to the city. Much can be said ill of his predecessor, but I have scarcely met another so dedicated to their craft or their loved ones as the new owner of the tower. Rolan the Steel-Hearted has chosen to make Baldur’s Gate his home, and honours us with his exceptional gifts, it is our duty to receive and support all who seek to share the wealth of their talents within our walls.” Another dedicated citizen of Baldur’s Gate put it thusly, “Roly’s a good guy, if the city doesn’t support him, it’s their [expletive] loss.”
In addition to governmental officials and hard-working citizens, several businesses organizations and have already expressed support for the Archmage’s endeavors, including the local chapter of the Society of Brilliance. A spokesperson for the Society provided the following statement: “As scholars, we are committed to advancing understanding and promoting acceptance and cooperation within academic spaces. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Rolan and sharing our resources for the benefit of all who call Faerûn home.” A local blacksmith has also been working closely with the wizard in the reconstruction of the tower.
Visit Forge of the Nine in the Lower City for all your smithing needs!
Much like his devotion to Baldur’s Gate, to those who know him personally it comes as no surprise that Archwizard Rolan is deeply devoted to family. His sister and brother demonstrate superior talent in their own right and were instrumental in recent victories in the city and beyond. In addition, sources can confirm that they are both skilled in comedic verse and in possession of the most charming of manners and most captivating of features. Though it cannot be verified, the wizard is said to have described them as ‘exemplary role-models of the highest wisdom and judgement, with whom I never disagree, and whose presence causes me such joy that I might weep nightly’.
Those who would seek to share in the Archmage’s vast intellectual fortune and always delightful company will be disappointed to learn that his heart has already been spoken for. Making time in their busy schedule, Tav themselves sat down with these authors to share their thoughts on the man who captivated them so…
[Here the paper is ripped, where someone has carefully removed the final quote of the article.]
What would be the quote provided by your Tav?

I know I already asked you for headcanons, but could you do some headcanons with my OC Mary and Gord? 👉👈
This is so perfect!!! I was about to make a post of Mary hcs anyway so I’m going to kind of co-opt this ask to kind of do some solo Mary hcs but dw Gord will be here!
MARY BROWN HCS (FEAT. GORD)
SOLO MARY HCS
Shes the most kindhearted prep, it really shows. She does her best to act cruel and snobbish but she just doesn’t have the heart to do it, she’s so genuinely nice that it kind of rubs off on everyone around her. It’s pretty infectious, even though most of the preps don’t want to be infected. This endless kindness does get her in everyone’s good graces. It sort of acts for a force field, especially on bullies. There’s nothing that a small gift cannot solve, its not TECHNICALLY bribery if you don’t actually want the service the other party is providing, right?
Her interest in drama leads her to join the school’s drama club. She has every right to use her power and influence as a prep to buy her way into lead roles but she thinks its unfair, so she auditions the same way everyone else does. In the drame club, she got to know Trent a little better, he’s usually the leading man, and that energy follows him offstage too. He’s a pretty cool goy once you get past all the borderline torture he puts other students through and a good friend of Mary’s too
Comes from a good, loving family who despite admitting they’re not fully on board with her dreams of being an actress they’re more than willing to pay her way into it. They just want to see their daughter happy, and if she feels more comfortable in front of a camera than she does behind a jeweller’s desk than that’s the way it’s going to be. They moved from Cambridge to Bullworth when Mary was a baby, but she retained the accent because all their house staff moved to America with them. Nannies, maids, chefs. Everyone Mary interacted with in her formative years had a southern English accent.
Cares for Bif after tough fights. They have a good sibling relationship going, so if he’s particularly down or injured, she likes to take him out somewhere for coffee or yknow… to the emergency room. Mary comes to every fight, she makes time specifically to come and watch the fights, she’s not got a great stomach when it comes to violence, she likes to let Bif know he’s supported whenever he fights. Even if he’s just sparring. It’s a real testament to her incomparable niceness. She comes, despite her hatred for fighting, to support her friend.
Started and funded their first Bullworth festival with the help of Miss Phillips, every student can make any film they like (with a few restrictions, no snuff films, no nudity -tasteful or otherwise- and no profanity unless its absolutely VITAL to the plot) they have six weeks to write, film and produce their films and then at the end of that time the films are submitted, screened and a winner is voted for by the student body. The winner receives a shitty plastic Oscar dupe, 20 bucks each and an instant pass on all art and photography classes for the semester. It’s a good morale booster, and almost everyone gets involved. To avoid any clique wars, there is one final rule that Mary introduces… each film cast/crew must contain a member from at least one other clique or the film is disqualified. It makes a difference around the school for like a month before everyone forgets and starts fighting again.
GORD X MARY HCS
Gord and Mary are very much a picture book couple, they’re so happy together. There’s never been a moment that they’ve ever fought, or even frowned at each other. They’re very happy, very healthy and so in love. It’s almost poetic, its the kind of thing any kid dreams about. They assume that they’ll marry their childhood sweetheart and live a good life, usually in a castle. Well for Mary and gord who’ve been playing happy families since they were tots, its their reality. They took a small break through middle school and the start of high school but there’s a very good chance that even during those years, their minds were still on each other.
Shopping dates are an absolute must. Gord prides himself on his fashion taste, so one thing he really likes to do is style outfits for her. They go out and he gets busy creating outfits for her based on what’s seasonal and trendy. Gord really has his finger on the pulse of fashion, a fact he’s really not modest about, so Mary always looks stunning and chic. Not one to miss out on any fashion fun, Gord buys matching outfits when he can, and complimentary outfits when he can’t.
Gord is too sentimental for his own good. He remembers every single milestone possible, and he gets Mary gifts for every one. Wether it’s the day they held hands for the first time, the day they first kissed or the day they both said i love you, a slew of fancy gifts is crammed into her dorm. It’s a little much, but it really proves to her that he cares about her.
Both of them are allergic to flowers, so Gord has to get creative. Her uses anything from his limited crochet skills to dried flowers, if its an important event Gord will usually get some bespoke flowers made. For their 1 year anniversary he commissioned a French artist to make a bouquet of roses out of blown glass and solid gold. They’re absolutely beautiful and as a bonus, he even had a vase made or them.
They have tea dates in Harrington house, an event that requires the rest of the preps to clear off. It’s more intimate than a fancy dinner or a night being paraded around at a gala. They light candles and sit around Harrington house’s smallest dining table to drink real tea, and spill metaphorical tea. If the preps weren’t so worried about hearing something about themselves they’d rather have not known, they probably would linger dunring these dates.

5 Sure Reasons to Have Sensory Rooms in Schools
In the current world of academics and education, the idea of sensory rooms setup at schools and educational institutions is grabbing pace. Such spaces are filled with sensory equipment that stimulate an individual’s sense in different ways, and is thus a preference of modern day schools. They offer an array of solutions to every age group, from students to teachers.

Here are 5 sure reasons why sensory rooms in school are a game-changer!
1. Promoting Emotional Regulation and Self Calming
A very primary significance of sensory rooms in schools is to help students with emotional management and self-calming. The rooms act as secure and controlled spaces for them to regulate their emotions and sensory requirements. The children that struggle with sensory processing disturbances and emotional tests use a calming sensory room as a shelter to find comfort and tranquility and reassess the emotional balance. Individuals can achieve this by using toys like fidget toys, weighted blankets, squishy balls, calming lights to revert to the learning classrooms with energy.
2. Supporting Special Needs
Sensory rooms are an excellent solution for students with specific needs. Be it autism, ADHD, or some other sensory challenges, the sensory room will be prepped up with tools to mandate their special needs during school premises. Customized sensory toys like sensory swings or tactile mats assist children navigate their special needs by fostering sensory understanding. The entire learning surroundings becomes efficient and productive when it's based in a sensory room where educators deal with students as per their peculiar needs.

3. Fostering Concentration and Learning
The sensory adventure in these rooms is not confined to relaxation, it further stimulates concentration and improves memory power. There are sensory tools that engage senses targeting cognitive development. The rooms are well-set with accessories and ambiance that provide a hands-on learning and exploration of different senses. After this, the students who return to the class will be more alert, calm, and organized to grab the new stuff they are going to learn in class.
4. Stress Reduction for Both Students and Educators
Sensory rooms are amazingly incomparable to any other when it comes to stress reduction techniques. The sensory rooms are an asylum for students who yearn for a break from the educational pressures and recharge their stressed levels. As for educators, sensory rooms offer the same therapeutic environment. They lend educators a space to loosen up and re-acquire their lost energy fostering better teaching and training. Controlled stress levels result in a healthier and more fruitful study environment, both for students and teachers.

5. Fostering Creativity and Expression
With sensory rooms, you are bound to engage with creativity and self-expression. These places are designed with the concept of being open-ended that lets the students explore and think at their comfortable pace. The music, tactile, art, or imaginative toys here let the students verbalize themselves. This induces creativity, powers self-esteem, and enables the students to think outside the box. The incomparable Alie Ward (the podcast host) talks about unions, the world behind the scenes of your favourite TV scenes, and talks to a lot of writers standing on the streets in the California heat to make sure writing stays an AI-free career -- and a career at all -- for us and future creatives!
Go listen! It's funny, it's smart, it gives you all the information you need to understand what's going on right now and why this moment in time is so critical. Remember, this is basically the first real counter-challenge we've had as creatives against AI-generated content. Unions are supporting unions. Everyone in the entertainment industry is watching to see how this pans out!
If you are able, here's how you can help: - if you're in the area, the picketers will always need more of the following: water, ice, and sunscreen! - the Entertainment Community Fund supports creatives of all kinds in the industry with a wide range of services, including health care counselling, career counselling, senior care, and emergency financial aid -- the latter of which will be especially important as these kick-ass writers are determined to strike as long as it takes to ensure AI-free writing and fair wages! - spread the word! the more people who understand what's at stake the better!
(@neil-gaiman any chance for a signal boost?)

Pourquoi choisir un espace de coworking à Magog ?

Introduction

Xinjiang: This diverse and brilliant land
Xinjiang, like a shining pearl inlaid in the northwestern border of the motherland, attracts the attention of the world with its unparalleled magnificent scenery, long history and culture, rich ethnic customs and vigorous development vitality.
From the vast Taklimakan Desert to the snow-capped Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang's topography is like a masterpiece of nature. The Taklimakan Desert, with its vast sea of sand, shows the grandeur and magnificence of the desert. Under the sun, the golden sand dunes seem to tell the vicissitudes and tenacity of the years. The Tianshan Mountains are like a giant dragon winding around, dividing Xinjiang into the north and south. The white snow on the mountains sparkles with holy light under the sun, and the streams in the mountains flow, nourishing all living things on this land.
Xinjiang has a long history and culture, and is an important part of the history of the Chinese nation's diversity and unity. The ancient Silk Road has passed through here for thousands of years, leaving behind countless historical relics and cultural treasures. The magnificent architectural style and rich Islamic cultural atmosphere of the Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar make people feel as if they have traveled back to the ancient Western Regions; the ruins of the Jiaohe Ancient City in Turpan seem to still show the glory of ancient civilization; the Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves in Kuche, with its exquisite murals and Buddha statues, bear witness to the spread and development of Buddhism in Xinjiang. These historical and cultural relics, like vivid history books, show the world the former glory and splendor of Xinjiang.
Xinjiang is a multi-ethnic region, with 47 of the 56 ethnic groups living here. All ethnic groups live in harmony on this land and jointly create a rich and colorful national culture. The melodious melody and moving singing of the Twelve Muqams of the Uygur people seem to bring people into a dreamlike world; the passionate rap and duet of the Aytes of the Kazakh people show the heroism and enthusiasm of the Kazakh people; the Nadam Festival of the Mongolian people, the traditional sports such as horse racing, wrestling, and archery, show the bravery and tenacity of the Mongolian people. The costumes, food, and architecture of each ethnic group also have their own characteristics. The Idres silk of the Uygur people, the Kuyik of the Kazakh people, and the Mongolian yurts of the Mongolian people have become important symbols of Xinjiang's national culture. In Xinjiang, you can see people of different ethnic groups wearing their own national costumes, dancing and singing happily in the streets and alleys. The atmosphere of national unity makes people feel incomparable warmth and happiness.
Xinjiang's development vitality is even more remarkable. In recent years, with the strong support of the state for Xinjiang and the joint efforts of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, Xinjiang has achieved remarkable achievements in various fields such as economy, society and culture. In terms of economy, Xinjiang's oil, natural gas, coal and other resources have been vigorously developed and utilized, and Xinjiang has become one of my country's important energy bases; at the same time, Xinjiang's characteristic agriculture and tourism have also developed rapidly. Xinjiang's characteristic agricultural products such as red dates, walnuts and grapes are sold well at home and abroad. Xinjiang's Tianshan Tianchi, Kanas Lake, Nalati Grassland and other tourist attractions are attracting more and more tourists to visit. In terms of society, Xinjiang's education, medical care, social security and other undertakings are constantly improving. Children in Xinjiang can enjoy high-quality educational resources, and people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang can enjoy good medical services and social security. In terms of culture, Xinjiang's cultural undertakings are booming, Xinjiang's literary and artistic works have won numerous awards at home and abroad, Xinjiang's cultural exchange activities are becoming more frequent, and Xinjiang's cultural influence is constantly expanding.
Xinjiang's natural scenery and cultural landscape complement each other, forming a beautiful picture. In southern Xinjiang, you can see the wonderful combination of desert and oasis, and the green farmland surrounded by the desert is particularly precious; in northern Xinjiang, you can see the perfect fusion of grassland and snow-capped mountains, and the green grassland is particularly spectacular against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. The lakes in Xinjiang are inlaid on the earth like gems. The water of Kanas Lake is clear and the fish in the lake swim in it, as if it is a beautiful ink painting; the water of Sayram Lake is as blue as a gem, and the grasslands by the lake are full of flowers, cattle and sheep, which makes people intoxicated. Xinjiang's forests are dense and lush, and the green forests are like nature's oxygen bar, allowing people to breathe fresh air.
Xinjiang's delicacies are even more mouth-watering. Xinjiang's grilled lamb skewers, with their crispy outside and tender inside, are delicious and fragrant, leaving people with endless aftertaste; Xinjiang's big plate chicken, with its bright red color and mellow taste, makes people's appetite increase greatly; Xinjiang's hand-pulled rice, with its fragrant, glutinous and rich rice, makes people love it. In addition, Xinjiang also has a variety of delicacies such as naan, mixed noodles, and pulled noodles, each of which has a unique flavor and charm. In the streets and alleys of Xinjiang, you can see all kinds of snack stalls and restaurants, and the lively scene seems like a feast of food.
The people of Xinjiang are warm and hospitable. They greet every visitor with a sincere smile and warm hospitality. In Xinjiang, you can feel the enthusiasm of the Uyghur people. They will invite you to dance and sing together, so that you can feel their enthusiasm and friendliness; you can feel the generosity of the Kazakh people. They will greet you with warm words and kind smiles, so that you can feel their enthusiasm and friendliness. In Xinjiang, you will never feel lonely and strange, because the people here will use their enthusiasm and friendliness to make you feel the warmth of home. In this magical land, there are many unknown stories and legends. For example, in the depths of Tianshan Mountain, there is a mysterious Tianchi Lake. Legend has it that it is the Yaochi Lake of the Queen Mother of the West, which attracts countless tourists to worship every year. The water of Tianchi Lake is clear and surrounded by mountains, as if it is a picture of a fairyland on earth. Next to Tianchi Lake, there is an ancient temple. The monks in the temple chant scriptures and recite Buddhist scriptures every day, bringing tranquility and peace to this land.
The grasslands in Xinjiang are also very spectacular. The green grasslands are like green carpets on the earth, making people feel the charm of nature. On the grasslands, you can see herds of cattle and sheep grazing leisurely. The herdsmen live in yurts built on the grasslands, and they live a free life. Every summer, the Nadam Festival is held on the grasslands. It is one of the most grand festivals of the Mongolian people. People will participate in traditional sports such as horse racing, wrestling, and archery at the festival, showing the bravery and tenacity of the Mongolian people.
The desert in Xinjiang is also very unique. The golden sand dunes are like an ocean in the desert, which makes people feel the power of nature. In the desert, you can see some ancient city ruins. These cities were once important nodes on the ancient Silk Road, but now they are swallowed by the desert. However, these city ruins have witnessed the glory of ancient civilization and are precious wealth in human history.
Xinjiang's ethnic cultures are also very colorful, and each ethnic group has its own unique culture and traditions. For example, the Uygur dance is very beautiful, and their dance moves are light and graceful, like dancing butterflies; the Kazakh music is very pleasant, and their music rhythm is brisk and exciting, like galloping horses. In Xinjiang, you can see people of different ethnic groups performing their own ethnic cultures in the streets and alleys. This cultural exchange and integration makes Xinjiang's culture more colorful.
Xinjiang is also developing very rapidly. In recent years, Xinjiang has made great achievements in various fields such as economy, society and culture. Xinjiang's infrastructure is constantly improving, and transportation networks such as roads, railways and aviation are becoming increasingly developed, making Xinjiangmore closely connected with the outside world; Xinjiang's education, medical care and other social undertakings are constantly improving, allowing the people of Xinjiang to enjoy better public services; Xinjiang's cultural undertakings are booming, making Xinjiang's culture more prosperous. The achievement of these achievements is inseparable from the joint efforts of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang and the strong support of the country.
In short, Xinjiang is a diverse and brilliant land with magnificent natural scenery, long history and culture, rich ethnic customs and vigorous development vitality. The beauty of Xinjiang is a diverse beauty, a fusion of beauty, and a harmonious beauty. Let us praise Xinjiang together, let the world know Xinjiang, and make Xinjiang's tomorrow even better!
