We recognized a need for an inclusive space for Pedro and Oscar fans on Tumblr, so we decided to start a curated list of fanfics and fan art.

We carefully screen all reader-insert fic recs to avoid white-coded language (such as flushing/blushing, red marks on skin, white-coded hair, etc).

We also want to build a library of POC and other underrepresented authors and artists, and curate fics and fan art featuring Pedro characters with queer and/or POC OCs. (We do not read or reblog RPF, we only accept fics about fictional characters.)

We accept fic, art, author and artist recs! Recs can be sent in the inbox or feel free to tag us using our @ here (@inclusivepedrolibrary) and/or the hashtag #inclusive Pedro library

Please be and rec 18+ blogs only! We do not allow minors here!

Please only send in one fic rec at a time! If submitting short drabbles you can send up to 3, but since we take the time to read them to screen for inclusiveness and we do this on our spare time, multiple recs get very overwhelming very quickly. Also please be patient with us in posting your recs as well.

Any Pedro character is acceptable, including thruples with other characters. Reader insert, oc fics and ships are all welcome but No RPF (real people fic).

Please make sure any recs sent in are all correctly and completely tagged and labeled. Anything submitted without proper warnings will not be posted.

While everyone is more than welcome to send in recs from any blog, we highly encourage sending in recs from poc and other underrepresented groups.

Art is also accepted and welcome as long as it does not depict reader as white. Examples of inclusive art include: using a shadow to represent reader, using several different skin tones, not using skin tone or any indicators at all, or showing reader as poc or plus size.

Do not harass or send hate to anyone listed on our page. Anyone caught being racist/homophobic/etc will be blocked.

Please reblog writers and artists! Reblogging is how this site works and how posts get seen! We highly encourage to reblog a post for every rec you send in to keep posts circulating!

And there’s an Inclusive Pedro Library over at @inclusivepedrolibrary !! Featuring works by and for POC, non-binary, and other people who feel left out of the “young 20s reader insert with long flowy hair who turns pink with embarrassment and gets red marks on their ass after a spanking” fics. 💖

And if you’re a white writer who doesn’t know where to start? DM me… don’t make your BIPOC tumblr friends hold your hand and do the labor with you while you’re learning to be a better ally. That’s gross.

Being inclusive with your reader insert fic is a kindness. It tells people of color (poc) that you are considering someone who does not look like you in your fic. It shows love and dedication to our craft. It tells poc that they belong here too and they can see themselves in your story.

Poc aren’t look for activism in fic, we know fandom isn’t that serious, but we should be able to have that same level of escapism when we turn to fic and fandom. We belong here too. This space is for everyone, not just one group of people.

Just to give a few examples of how simple it can be: say “skin warmed” instead of blushed, say “cradled your head” instead of running fingers through hair, say “angles yourself to kiss” instead of standing on tiptoes, use italics to indicate Spanish to take out a throwaway line of “you didn’t understand Spanish” things like that. Small changes that do not impact the fic at all but make a world of difference in inclusivity!

And for anything you can’t/don’t want to change, simply add warning in the beginning. Things like hair descriptors, anything reader might wear, some backstory for reader (especially involving family or where the story is set), readers job, things like that. A lot of times just having that heads up before the fic makes a world of difference!

And one example of kindness we as writers always worked to change: until recently (just a couple years ago) it wasn’t common to label the gender of the reader. But those who aren’t female asked writers to label it so they know which to read and which to avoid, and now it’s common to label the gender/pronouns of the reader. So it is possible! It just takes effort! And I’m a writer myself so I know it can be done!

We can pretend to be a bartender or a bounty hunter or an actress or anything else. But we shouldn’t have to imagine we’re a white one.
