I Have Found A Solution!

So, obviously classic wizard robes aren’t wheelchair friendly. (Alright, admittedly this isn’t common knowledge and also this definitely isn’t a problem for most but listen, this is a problem for me and I’m pleased to present a solution for it nonetheless.)

The issue is in the sleeves and the length of the robes. The traditional trumpet style allows them to get snagged, dirty, and caught in the wheels.

This is distinctly not an issue with other mobility aids such as canes and crutches, these wizards are fine to carry on with their trumpet sleeves simply rolled up if needed.

Now, one solution might simply to shorten the sleeves and hem to be out of the way, but that looks rather silly so I won’t do that. Instead I propose the more elegant design of a hanging sleeve to maintain that flowy magical feel while allowing for better range of motion.

Honestly I just love the look of hanging sleeves in general and think more people should appreciate them, wheelchair user or not.

. . . F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. after what feels like 30 years, I've finished this piece. I kid you not when I say I made the base sketch back in September 2022. It went through so many changes, loops, postponing, and adjustments, that I genuinely only finalized it this morning. *ੈ✩‧���˚⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ My primary intention was to play with opposites [cold / warm, soft / rugged, serene / fiery] and, which I only realized now, the final version being a full-on mixed media project [I made the sketch and lineart traditionally and colors + decorations digitally] fits in with that just perfectly. *ੈ✩‧₊˚⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ I'm not sure how to feel about the outcome. There are things I like, such as the quality of the lineart and the color contrasts. However, I also spot my good old weaknesses such as lacking anatomy, stiffness, and a hampering fear of rendering. One thing I definitely learned while working on this though, was to focus on finishing a project before I move on to the next. Fingers crossed I'll be able to keep up with that. 🤞

In the dream I saw it in the window display of a hardware/DIY/trade shop, implying it was meant to be a practical garment designed for actual female constructions workers in a Female Armour level missed-the-brief attempt at gender inclusion

The practical support from the visible underwire combined with the hi vis implying it’s not meant to be worn as an undergarment, I just-

I blame my binge-reading ND Stevenson’s gender comics talking abt masculinity and femininity incl the one abt Victoria’s Secret lingerie yesterday for this monstrosity x’D
