So in the Pokémon DND- Someone made a very fun shit-post quest involving Palworld. I... did not expect that Leo my character would vibe super hard with these guys but- between becoming a cat-person, drugs, catching a specific Pokémon for a bounty and realizing the actions taken to do so must never be spoken of, and bazookas... that was something. Some of these have a story to them... And special abilities unique to them. I should probably keep this out of the Pokémon tag huh?

I made some more Palworld fan art earlier today instead of actually playing the game. While looking for references, I learned that its Japanese name is Hellgoat when I looked at the wiki. It doesn't have the goat eyes in the game, but I think goat eyes are cool so I added them here.

Palworld offers nothing original in terms of mechanics and a huge portion of its creature design can be linked back to existing pokemon but you will have to pry this game from my cold dead hands tbh.

I'm half tired while writing my overall thoughts, so this will be pretty interesting.

As of today, I have put in more than 100 hours into the PS5 version of Palworld, and all I can say is Pokemon NEEDS to take notes, not sue for bullshit reasons.

Part of my addiction to Palworld is too fold. The first is that like many people, I am starving for a new Pokemon game that feels fresh and new, and we haven't go that, so Palworld for many became the replacement.

The second fold is that the Switch is on it's way out. Though Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was great, but undoubtably overhyped to hell and back. The last few main line Nintendo games have, well...kind of been stinkers.

I hated Animal Crossing New Horizons, Fire Emblem Engage was trash with one or two exceptions (the gameplay and the Brodia arc) and TOTK was just a copy paste clone of BOTW and I never made it past 60 hours because I had played this before. There are some games that I am eyeing right now, like that new Mario and Luigi RPG and Sonic X Shadow Generations, but outside of that. The last two years I would say felt like nothing but bad, bad? Mediocre (to me) games that either felt rush or cheap or, in Engages case, just completely terrible.

The reason why I bring this up is because I haven't been so addicted to a game like this in a while...but Palworld still has problems, and I will mention them briefly here.

Flaws

Sometimes the world feels empty.

The Pal's AI (mostly for the bigger pals or ones without arms) seem to not work sometimes.

No easier way to reorganize things you stored away (by categories for example)

REALLY want more skins/costumes for my Pals, and right now, the Cattiva with sunglasses is all I have.

As for pros, I will start off by saying that building houses and bases is my favorite past time. There are issues with the Pals coming inside my houses (maybe having a bigger door would help with that?) I want my Pals to sleep inside the building I made and I guess that is something that can't be done right now. Just like with having a Pal keeping your food cold inside, it doesn't work, it needs to be outside.

But yeah, outside of that. there's not much to say about the gameplay because it has already been praised to hell and back. It's addictive, it's fun, and it has this sense of polish that Legends didn't have, which makes it better. The fact that Pals can roam with you (in a way that works) and have functions to help you progress through the world is so, so fun!

I also love the designs of most of the Pals in this game. My personal favorite are Mossanda, Incineram, Chillet, Dinossom ( I nicknamed this one Dippy Dippy Dino for fun), Blazehowl and my personal MPV, Cattiva!

I'm not going to go over the potential lawsuit here since there are plenty of videos on YouTube that are covering this topic right now, but all I will say is it's kind of fun to see Pokemon get some competition. The last Pokemon game I had ever throughly enjoyed was Black and White. They HAD a chance to sell me with that Pokemon Platinum remake...WHAT POKEMON PLATINUM REMAKE!?
