              In the afternoon of July 20th, during a sweep of the hotspot over the Mogilev Region of Belarus, the assigned Watcher stumbled across a corpse in a patch of forest. Given the situation, the incident is reported immediately. Within the hour the area’s allocated Dispatch Team arrives at the site. It was discovered the body belonged to one 23 year old Luis Yellenavich, who had lived an ocean away in Cuba and had yet to be reported missing. Upon further investigation, it was found he had been within his home only an hour before his discovery. His autopsy revealed no means of death, no injury beyond those known of by his family, and no unusual substances in his system. Additionally, the area around him showed only the background temporal and radioactive energies normal for the hotspot.

              Following this investigation, the incident was marked Closed.

Summary: You call JJ in the middle of the night, needing her more than ever.

Your shaky hands found JJ's number in the late hours of the night. JJ always told you to call her if you needed anything, she was your girlfriend after all, and the two of you lived separately. She always said if you needed her she'd be there in a heartbeat, you just prayed she'd get to your place as fast as possible.

You clicked the call button and it only rang once before she picked up. "Honey? It's late, is everything okay?"

Your lip trembled and you spoke in between breaths, "I- I need you Jayje, please."

That was all it took before you heard shuffling, then a moment later the sound of keys jingling and a door closing. "I'm coming."

It felt like the longest fifteen minutes of your life. You were laying in bed, your hand covering your chest, trying to soothe the pains you felt from breathing.

You heard your front door opening and quickly shutting. JJ had a key, you had given it to her a couple of months ago, after an incident at work had her worried sick about you. It really came in handy tonight.

She rushed into your bedroom and over to you on the bed. "I'm here, honey, I'm here." She sat down and quickly pulled you up into her. She heard your short breaths and her heart nearly broke. She hated seeing you in so much pain.

"Look at me." She said softly. You met her eyes and she immediately wiped tears off of your face. You were so focused on the tightening in your chest that you didn't realize you had started crying. "I've got you, okay? It's gonna be okay."

You nodded absentmindedly. You shut your eyes tight. "It hurts," you said hoarsely.

"I know baby, I know." She cupped your face. "Keep your eyes on me, okay?" You opened your eyes and locked them onto hers. "Good. Breathe with me, in through your nose, out through your mouth." She breathed in slowly, and out slowly, watching to make sure you were copying her actions.

You did. After a while of this you, your chest still felt tight, but you were starting to pull yourself together. You finally felt JJ's touch on your face, and you leaned your head into it. She leaned forward and pressed her lips gently against your forehead, the kiss lingering for a moment before she pulled back to look at you.

You blinked a few times before looking down at your lap. You swallowed before you spoke. "It's late, I'm sorry."

She immediately shook her head and tilted yours up by a finger on your chin. "Don't say you're sorry. I promised you I'd always be here if you needed me, and I meant it."

The gaze you two held was delicate. She looked down and put her hand over yours which still hovered above where your heart was. You stared at her for a moment. "Thank you."

All JJ could do was wrap her arms tightly around you and press a small kiss to your lips. "Of course, honey."

The two of you laid down. You rested your head on her chest, the sound of her heartbeat in her ears calming you down further. Her one hand gently traced shapes on your back, while the other gripped you tightly, almost as if she was a bit afraid to let go.

You closed your eyes and fell asleep soon after. You just missed when JJ lowered her voice to a whisper and said, "I love you."

I just saw a tik tok(source: leighbreezreads) saying it won't be Azriel and Elain or Azriel and Gwyn... that it'll be Eris and Azriel... and it kind of makes a lot of sense.

DON'T SCROLL, JUST HEAR ME OUT-

So we see during the scene when Eris and Nesta dance that Eris is obviously attracted to Nesta.

Nesta went for it

And Eris went with her, eyes blazing with feral delight.(p. 586, ACoSF)

Lust glazed Eris's eyes. Covetous, calculating lust. Cassian swallowed his growl. "I mean that whatever you want, I'll give it to you. In exchange for her. As my bride." He jerked his chin to the box with the dagger at Rhys's feet. "I'd rather have her than that."(p. 592, ACoSF)

At first glance, it's only reasonable to think Eris was genuinely attracted to Nesta. It's hinted at on the next page that Eris has some secret, ulterior motive that is not revealed. Eris also says having Nesta would be great revenge on Cassian for everything that went down with Mor.

But it could all be a well crafted, carefully upheld lie.

When Eris is talking to Rhys and Feyre and looking at Nesta with that lustful look, Nesta isn't alone. She's dancing with Azriel.

At surface value, it doesn't seem plausible. Eris and Azriel have only ever had bad interactions. We know in detail how much Azriel hates Eris because of what happened to Mor. Azriel is also pining after Mor, has shown some interest in Elain and has gotten in trouble with Rhys for it, and his shadows like Gwyn.

But it could be possible.

Eris said he had his reasons for why the events with Mor happened. He said that Nesta shouldn't believe the lies about him and that Mor was afraid of the truth. This brings up the idea that Mor and Eris are mates. If this were the case, Eris let Mor go relatively fast and without a fight. Yes, he left her alone and naked, but he didn't put up much of a fight for her. It would be like he didn't even want the mating bond. Mor sleeping with Cassian and being "ruined" would be the perfect reason to call off the betrothal and reject the mating bond. I can't remember if they met before the incident in the Autumn Court, but even if they didn't, Eris could've very easily felt the bond, seen how unhappy and unwilling a bloody and naked Mor was, and decided to reject the bond and call off the engagement.

Now why is it important that Eris needed big, flashy reason to call of the betrothal? Why is it important that Eris used all of it to reject the mating bond? Eris isn't attracted to fae females.

Being attracted to the sake sex or having multiple partners isn't taboo in the ACoTaR universe. Helion is well known for having many partners of either sex. Thesan has a male lover. Nephelle has a wife. Why would it be something Eris has to hide? His family. Specifically, his father and brothers. Eris is in a constant fight to be the next High Lord of the Autumn Court. On top of that, he's the obvious favorite. If his family ever found out he was attracted to males, they would see that as enough reason for him to be disposed of under the excuse that he wouldn't carry on the blood line. Eris would grit his teeth through his engagement to Mor because he knew it would create more certainty and security in his campaign to be the High Lord.

Eris never wanted the betrothal. He saw that Mor didn't want it either because of her sleeping with Cassian. Despite the security it would give him in his campaign, Eris saw a way out and took it. Mor being his mate would be an unforseen complication to him. Since they would both be unwilling and Eris knew he couldn't he happy with Mor, he would reject the mating bond.(I think it goes unsaid that Mor would DEFINITELY reject the mating bond.)

Eris is a very perceptive and opportunistic individual. He has to be because of his father and brothers. He also has a lot of experience wearing masks and playing games because of those 50 years Under the Mountain. He's smart enough to play Rhys's games. He knew Rhys wanted something and was using Nesta to get what he wanted. It goes as far back as to why he started working with the Night Court in the first place. He had the reason of needing support for his campaign for the Autumn Court, but he already had his place as his father's favorite and being the oldest.

Moving ahead, we see Eris in the Night Court offering and asking for help. They strike a deal that has Eris in the Court of Nightmares often. Eris works with the Night Court in exchange for support with his campaign to the Autumn Court and other various things. But what if the Autumn Court wasn't the only reason Eris struck a deal?

What if he used the excuse of needing the Night Court and Rhysand as a cover to get out of the Autumn Court and away from his family? He wanted a chance to be with the fae he was attracted to without as much fear of being caught, so he decided to ally with the Night Court. It would keep Eris away from the Autumn Court and would provide secrecy since no one knew of his deal. It would be the perfect segway Eris needed.

This explains why Eris left Mor and also explains the basics of why he would be attracted to Azriel. Now we need to look at the finer details.

Eris knows how much the entire Court of Dreams hates him. Despite how they will be civil with him, he knows they hate him because of what happened to Mor. No matter the reasoning behind his actions, redemption is a foolish hope to have. He especially knows that Azriel doesn't like him because of how quick Az was to jump on him at the High Lords meeting in ACoWaR. We, as readers, know how much Azriel hates Eris.

Eris could've developed an attraction to Azriel. They have interacted enough for it to be possible. It would be against Eris's better judgements because he knows Azriel hates him. So of course Eris wouldn't act on the attraction. He'd even go as far as antagonizing Azriel directly or through Mor.

So Eris wouldn't act on his attraction. Not directly. He find ways to stare at Azriel and display his attraction by pretending the feelings were directed at someone else. He would play games like asking for an engagement to Nesta.

Looking at their relationship dynamic already, this sort of romance would be a lot of fun. It would also answer a lot of questions and solve a lot of problems involving Azriel in the ACoTaR series.

Most of the discourse in the fandom comes from Elriel Shippers vs. Gwynriel Shippers. Everyone wants to see Azriel in love, but the conflict comes with the love interest. "It's Elain because the series is about the Archeron sisters! It'd be each sister with each bat boy!" Or "It's Gwyn because his shadows like her! He saved her and she is his equal!"(through the Blood Rite). Azriel getting together with someone no one expected??? It'd be kind of funny, in my opinion. I wouldn't put it past SJM to pull something like this.

Moving on, it'd be a great enemies to lovers arc. Azriel literally hates Eris. We don't know how Eris feels, but he already wears a mask around the Night Court. He'd be the one to pretend he hates Azriel even though he was attracted to Az.

Ultimately? It'd give a lot more insight to Azriel, Mor, Eris, and the inner workings of the Night Court, the Autumn Court, and the Illyrians. We'd get Azriel reflecting on his own trauma. Eris revealing his trauma with his family. Eris telling Azriel the full story of what happened with Mor. Mor coming out to Az and telling him the full story of what happened. It would honestly be a genius move to help bring more information to light.

It's a far fetched theory and difficult to support since Az and Eris don't have nearly enough interactions, but that's what their book would be for. I personally love this idea and how it'd open so many doors for SJM, but in the end it's just a theory.

it bothered diluc immensely, trying to even restrain himself from smashing a glass bottle over the navy headed idiot

diluc was never really competitive, but as he saw kaeya talking to you more, something sparked in him

and it was not a good thing

you'd have to calm both down, just in case a brawl starts up by itself

it would be you always sleeping first, and i'd mostly be by you trying your best to stay awake waiting for him to come back

he loved the sight of you sprawled out on the shared bed when he came home

it comforted him that there was finally someone that wouldn't leave him

he might even say, you looked adorable as you slept so soundly

diluc was also another person that you would need to reassure

he was insanely terrified of losing you to someone or to something

you may have known that he was a pretty optimistic boy before that incident

meeting you really opened his eyes to a new reality, possibly to forgive himself of what he had always blamed himself for

Author’s Note: Hi sorry this is late rip that’s just how it is for me. I hope you like it, it’s kind of short but I’m really proud of it.

Eyes glowing in the fire light, Todoroki examined the damage around him. The vicinity was in ruins, heroes and villains alike battling against one another in an intense power struggle. His lover had gotten separated from him earlier on, and while there was a present concern for her safety lingering in his mind, he tried to trust her ability to hold her own. She had to. For both of their sakes.

Despite his efforts, anxiety slithered up his chest like twisted vines or rotting tree roots, suffocating and locking him in a vice grip. 

Breathe. 

That’s what she’d say, right? 

Inhaling deeply, he tasted the destruction surrounding him, the loose dirt flying around with each hit a hero made, the heat of flames nearby, the ashes they emitted. Holding his breath for a moment, he released it, breathing out his stress and despair. 

“Trust me.”

A memory of the pair at UA fluttered through the forefront of his mind. Her hand on his shoulder, similar amounts of debris in the air, a fond smile spreading warmth through his body like a blanket. She’d made it out alive back then, of course she had. She always did, and he needed to remember that. He couldn’t deny how difficult it was though, it felt wrong to abandon someone he loved so dearly when he could potentially rescue them from a life-threatening situation. 

Regaining his mobility, he darted around, searching for a place to help further, scanning for the girl just in case. The billowing smoke clouds mixed with detritus impaired his vision drastically, and before he could search further, another hero cried out for support, pulling the dual powered hero away from his task. 

After some time, the villains had been defeated. Flashes of red and blue gleamed through the chaos, and with assistance, the villains were arrested and remaining bystanders were escorted from the scene. Some of his companions had formed a group, joking about the incident and greeting nearby fans, signing notebooks, taking photos and brushing themselves off like the fight hadn’t decimated the courtyard. The nervosity he had previously shoved into the pit of his stomach seemed to grow as his adrenaline dripped away, and he began frantically addressing his comrades, inquiring on her last sighting, if they knew where she was. Panicking, he twisted towards the remains of the scene, eyes narrowing at a figure stepping through the plumes of smoke. She had that same fond smile on her face, and his heart swelled at her familiar visage. It was clear she’d taken some damage, but like always, she’d survived, and he could never be more grateful, more in love than he was now. 

The cacophony of sounds around him melted into nothingness as he zoned in on her, and in a burst of emotion he flew forward, flinging his arms around her and pulling her into his chest. The embrace was tight and desperate, like he was scared she’d slip from his fingertips.

“Sho, you’re all right, right?” The girl mumbled, resting her fingertips on his broad shoulders in a way that sent electricity sizzling through his nervous system. He nodded into the crook of her neck, tugging her impossibly closer, tears dotting his lash line. “I’m glad. I knew you’d be okay. You always are.” The soothing brush of her voice pierced his soul, and while he was locked in her tender grip, irrevocable trust swathing them like a protective barrier, he realized that this, this right here, was his forever, and in this moment, forever meant everything.

A/n: Aaaa I’m so sorry that this chapter took so long but I have completely lost all sense of time at this point. But here it is, finally! Remus’s eyes stung as he flung open the door out of the bookstore.

No. He wasn’t going to cry. Not here. Not now. Not because of that stupid asshole from the bookstore.

All he’d wanted to do was buy a book about gecko morphs, because the pet store had recently gotten a new clutch of leopard geckos, and Remus wanted to research their coloring. Instead, he had to endure the long, judgmental stare of yet another idiot who thought he was some kind of… some kind of freak or something.

When Remus got to his apartment (he’d walked to the bookstore; it wasn’t far), he slammed the door behind him and collapsed onto his couch. With a shaky sigh, he grabbed the remote and turned on the tv, swallowing the tide of emotions rising like bile in his throat.

Remus stood in the employee locker room at the pet store and pulled on his coat. Of course, he preferred to wear a tank top, but it was cold outside and he wasn’t an idiot.

“Hey, Remus!” a familiar voice called to him.

Remus turned to see his coworker Carl stepping into the locker room. “Hey.”

“What’d you do over the weekend?” Carl asked as he gathered his things.

Remus had a flashback of the incident at the bookstore, and how he’d spent the whole night trying not to cry or break something. “Nothing,” he said.

“Cool, cool.”

Remus wouldn’t say that Carl was his friend, exactly. But he knew Carl’s favorite color (mauve), which was more than he could say for anyone else.

“Hey, I know something I think you’ll be interested in.”

Remus looked over at his coworker, mildly interested. Carl had a huge grin on his face. “Oh? What is it?”

“I talked to one of Kate’s friends. He’s a tattoo artist.” Kate was Carl’s soulmate. She was polite enough around Remus, but it was clear to him that any kindness she extended toward him was more out of pity than anything else.

“And? Why is that something I would be interested in?”

“He said he could give you a tattoo to cover your soulmark.”

Remus’s heart dropped. An icy cold feeling swept over him, like he’d jumped into a pile of snow. “W-why would I want to do that?”

Carl’s smile faltered. “Well, I… I just thought…”

“You thought what?” Remus’s voice was sharp and loud, to hide the quiver creeping into it.

Carl shrank back. “I thought that, maybe if people didn’t see your soulmark, you might have more friends. Because then, people wouldn’t have to know that you’re, y’know… broken.”

Carl winced as soon as he said it, like he knew that it was the wrong thing to say.

“Broken?” Remus was shouting now. “Is that what you think of me? Listen, asshole. Don’t you fucking dare talk to me like that. You don’t get to call me that. No one does. I’m not broken.” Remus slammed his locker door shut with a decisive wham! “Fuck off, you piece of shit.”

Remus stormed away. He didn’t bother looking back to see if Carl was following him. He knew he wasn’t.

When Remus got home, the first thing he did was delete Carl from his contacts list. Now, the only people on there were his parents, his brother who never called, and few old friends he’d lost touch with. He tossed his phone onto the couch and went into his room, curling up on top of his bed.

This time, he didn’t try to stop himself from crying.

About Jakoku

History

An island nation composed of the Jakokuan Archipelago (Amayomi, Enkoku, Susa, Izami) and its surrounding islands, set in the Akuna region far, far to the east of Evillious.

Its current capital is Eto in the Enkoku region.

It has existed as a country since time immemorial, and in the pre-era it was ruled by the “Jamataikoku” led by the “Netsuma” clan, whose white hair was a particular feature of theirs.

In this period there was cultural exchange with the countries to the west, and some of the Netsuma clan that had fallen to ruin migrated to the Evillious region, where they became the ancestors of the Netsuma there. The third clan head of the Netsuma in Evillious, Raisa Netsuma (Netsuma Raisa) was a member of the criminal organization “Apocalypse” and given the alias of “white demon”. She was a close friend of the infamous Meta Salmhofer, and she lost her life when Meta was captured by the Leviantan military. Having lost the head of their clan the Netsuma were enraged, and they committed acts of destruction throughout the Evillious region. Elphegort in particular sustained serious damage from this, and this became a cause of discrimination against the Netsuma in that country later on.

Additionally, the Netsuma lineage has largely died out in Jakoku.

After the downfall of Jamataikoku, several governments ruled Jakoku, one after another, but around year 540 the rulers of each land broke out into a period of warring states, all vying for hegemony.

The most powerful of all had been the Hatsune clan, led by the daimyo of Amayomi, Hatsune Nobunaga. However, when Nobunaga died in a revolt between his subordinates before he could achieve victory, the Hatsune clan was taken over by his daughter Jahime, and she began to expand their efforts towards her father’s dream of unifying the whole country.

However, there were many who resisted the forcible invasions Jahime undertook. One such group was the Tokugawa clan, daimyo of Eto. In order to combat the foreign sorceress Julia IR (later known as Julia Abelard) who served Jahime, the Tokugawa clan allied with another sorceress who had come from foreign lands.

That sorceress went by the name of “Elluka Clockworker”.

Elluka made subordinates out of those who had also arrived from foreign countries as she did.

The wandering swordsman Gao Octo (Gaou Okuto).

The powerful blacksmith Chartette Langley (Saruteito).

Including her favored apprentice Gumillia, Elluka and the others entered into battle with Jahime and Julia.

As a result of the “Battle of Jagahara” in year 549, the country was unified under the Eto Shogunate of the Tokugawa clan.

Right before that, however, Chartette lost her life at Julia’s hands. Julia’s aim had been the vessel of deadly sin, “the Twin Blades of Levianta”, which Chartette had brought over from Holy Levianta, however Chartette had already reforged them into a pair of scissors and entrusted them to Gao. Gao hid this fact even from Elluka, and after the battle of Jagahara he sealed the scissors away inside a cave in the land of Izami.

Jahime survived her actual defeat, but she was murdered by her underling Julia, who had been lying in wait in Amayomi. Julia then absconded, and Elluka and Gumillia left Jakoku chasing after her.

Gao changed his name to Okuto Gaou, and for a time held a position as an immediate follower of the shogun, but when the nation’s isolationist policy began he was shunned for having foreign genes and instead appointed as magistrate of Izami, a backwater piece of land. Despite this Gaou held no intent of rebellion, and diligently upheld his magistrate duties for many years.

The Eto shogunate continued to reign up to the present day year 842 when this story opens.

--But that state of affairs would change when Perrier Cutie Marlon arrived as a messenger of the United States of Maistia ten years later, leading a fleet of military vessels. After the chaos the Eto shogunate dissolved, and Jakoku came to be opened to the world.

“Onigashima”

A man-made island built by Izami in the south-west region of Jakoku. It was made by then-magistrate Okuto Gaou in year 590 for the purpose of managing and safeguarding the foreigners coming into Jakoku.

The immigration of foreigners into the country was heavily restricted due to the shogunate’s isolationist policy, and so non-natives and those of foreign descent were generally only allowed to live in Onigashima. Additionally, all cultural and mercantile exchanges with foreigners were conducted there as well.

In terms of ratios, 60 percent of the residents were Jakokuan, 30 percent were foreigners, and about 10 percent were of mixed heritage.

In the very center is Enbizaka, and many of the people who do business in Onigashima have their shops set up along the hill.

“Momogengou”

A small village in the western side of Enkoku. In the past it had a different name, but it was given its current name by the first Saruteito.

Nearby is a settlement where the Rangu clan lives.

“The Rangu Clan”

A family that has worked for generations at a blade-smithy in a small settlement near Momogengou.

Its founder is the first Saruteito, aka Chartette Langley. When she got caught up in the New Four Horsemen incident in Holy Levianta in year 508, she unexpectedly got her hands on a vessel of deadly sin, “The Twin Swords of Levianta”, and so she wound up being pursued by the sorceress Julia IR for them.

Chartette set out on a journey to the east to escape from her pursuer, and to have some fun sightseeing on the way, and she wound up liking Jakoku so much when she got there that she resolved to live there. When she decided to try being a blade smithy in imitation of her father’s work, that she had watched since she was a young child, she became unexpectedly popular at it, and so decided to make that her job. There were many times when she was given strange looks by Jakokuans as they could tell by her features that she was a foreigner, so she wound up wearing a monkey mask to hide her face whenever she went out in public; however, as she didn’t hide her pink hair it didn’t have much point, and thanks to the mask people were all the more creeped out by her. Though as it resulted in her being able to marry a hunk with a monkey fetish, she didn’t pay that any mind.

In her later years, around the time of the battle of Jagahara she came to be known as the greatest sword smith in the country. It was around then that she reunited with her old friends Elluka and Gumillia, but at the same time Julia wound up discovering her location. Chartette reforged the Twin Swords of Levianta into two pairs of scissors and then entrusted them to her friend Gao Octo. She participated in a final battle with the sorceress then to try and release Germaine from Julia’s hold on her. But the aged Chartette had no chance of winning, and so met an untimely death.

The current Rangu clan are descendants of Chartette, and all of the family heads are named “Saruteito”. The current Saruteito is the 16th.

As the generations have gone on their foreigner blood has waned, and so there are many of them who have features and black hair as befitting a Jakokuan. However, the family head customarily dyes their hair the same shade of pink as the clan founder.

“The Crimson Robed Masses”

A group of sorcerers originally led by Julia IR.

The organization remained even after losing contact with Julia, and though they continued to fight against the shogunate despite being small-scale, as time wore on their reason to exist grew warped; by the present day of year 842, they had transformed into an extremist faction that opposed foreigners.

Ten years after the end of the story they fiercely resisted the Maistian navy that had arrived in Jakoku but the tables were turned on them, and the organization was destroyed.

Other Countries

The United States of Maistia

A country on the continent of Maistia that was founded in year 776.

They have a branch of the Freezis foundation there, and it’s where a great deal of the merchant ships heading to Jakoku are stationed.

The continent of Maistia was originally discovered by a Freezis trading vessel in the year 592. Once they learned that they could obtain a great deal of fine tobacco, alcohol, and ingredients for medicine in this region, the merchants of Evillious got together and dispatched ships to go there.

Thanks to the development and industry of the Freezis Foundation, eventually people from the Evillious region immigrated to Maistia. But at the same time this also brought about problems with discrimination towards the Maistian natives.

In 760 the people of Maistia, who were then substantially comprised of colonists from Marlon, began an armed uprising seeking their independence. Due to the lengthening of the war the Marlon royal family and the Freezis Foundation steadily lost their power; the situation calmed down when a woman by the name of Elluka Clockworker visited Maistia, and they safely secured their independence.

However, the next year the Marlon family were ousted from their position as royalty due to a civil war that broke out in Marlon. At present the Marlon family maintains a certain amount of influence as nobility, but there is no trace left of them as they were in their golden years.

On the other hand, Maistian independence cast a shadow on the vigor of the Freezis Foundation that had once held overwhelming power in the Evillious region. When the developing Yarera Zusco Firm and the like began to develop the region for business purposes, the Freezis Foundation came to obtain power in foreign trade in the eastern and western Akuna regions.

The Country of Marlon

After year 777, this country came to be ruled by the royal Viwirtz family in the place of the Marlon line.

Anxious about the Republic of Maistia’s development, the government of other countries in the Evillious region are apparently scheming to establish some form of alliance between them.

Holy Levianta

It was a religious country wherein the Levin church holds a great deal of power, but after the Four Horseman Incident in year 508 the influential power that Levin had inside the country reduced considerably, and at present they have shifted to an imperial government under the Musubi dynasty.

The Republic of Lucifenia

After the republic took over in year 510, that structure has continued to be maintained to present day.

Its national power has grown sluggish, and so the government is searching for a means of overcoming this deadlock.

The Country of Elphegort

Despite the continuation of the Elphen royal family’s reign, by and large it is ruled closer to a republic in governmental structure, and the power of the monarchy has greatly diminished.

There have begun to be stronger calls inside the country to shift to a complete republican government.

The Country of Asmodean

The stable imperial government still continues on.

In recent years it’s lost some of its tint as a military country, and its relationship with other countries has become more peaceful.

The Kingdom of Beelzenia

In year 620 the Beelzenian Empire dissolved, and though it received a long period of decline afterwards, in year 820 the Kingdom of Beelzenia was reborn, and it quickly began industrializing.

headcanon 003: top three memorable moments as an idol // fmdtask010 word count: 592 words

being a younger idol means that she doesn’t really have a big pool of moments to choose from so as cliche as it sounds, her debut stage is one of the most memorable moments for jaein and not in the most positive light. the reason she took on the life of a trainee and later dreamed of debuting was mainly because she believed that if she excelled in something her parents would actually pay attention to her. having grown up mostly in the shadows of her brothers while being expected to be a good role model, jaein was never given her parents’ attention or love. if she proved herself by debuting, she thought that it would flicker something in her parents’ minds. she was terribly wrong because after her debut stage, the only person that did contact her was her younger sister. now that she looks back at it, her parents didn’t even care much during her trainee years. most of the times it was jaein who contacted her parents instead of the other way around. their excuse would be that she knew how to take care of herself, but that doesn’t change the fact that she was still quite young when she was training. anyway, after she got home from lucid’s debut stage, she realized that she pretty much wasted six years of her life with wishes and dreams that would never come true. her debut stage left her with a lot of emptiness that she still carries to this day, and that’s why it remains in her memory

as a member of lucid, she can’t not talk about their falling incident. she still remembers that day clearly especially because it was so terrifying. the moments on stage sort of remain a blur, and all she remembers is seeing her poor members falling here and there, especially hyoyeon. she also can’t forget the day since she was called into the office the next day about her lack of professionalism compared to the other girls or something along those lines. as the leader, they expected her to be more stone faced or at least continue performing the song without glancing at her members. of course, dimensions’ attitude kind of changed once they went viral with the moment, but it was one of those moments that solidified what the company wanted out of her as the leader. she was so concerned about her members, but that’s not what they wanted from her apparently 

lucid’s first win with rough falls next. oddly, she’s surprised that the memories of that day stay with her, but after her debut stage, jaein made a quick list of goals that she still wanted for herself and the group in order to stay motivated and a first win was one of them. with the attention that glass bead and me gustas tu started giving lucid, she wasn’t surprised at all when rough got them their first win. though she was a bit surprised that it got them so many wins since she’s not sure if it’s the song that deserves that many. however, now that she had one thing crossed off her list, she had to ponder about whether or not she should keep adding things onto it seeing that lucid will most likely achieve it one day or another. their first win didn’t really add anything to jaein’s attitude when it comes to her job. it almost made her feel emptier because now she needs to force herself to keep coming up with things that’ll keep her motivated

Séance #08: Les effets de l’utilisation abusive de plateformes sociales sur le bien-être psychologique

Dans la société où nous vivons, plusieurs sujets sont considérés tabous et pourtant, ils représentent de réelles préoccupations pour plusieurs personnes. C’est effectivement le cas pour les troubles psychologiques, qui très souvent, sont des sujets évités lors des conversations. Au cours des dernières décennies, les réseaux sociaux comme Facebook et Instagram ont connu une popularité inégalée. Il serait donc intéressant de se pencher sur les effets de l’utilisation abusive de plateformes sociales sur le bien-être psychologique. 

En effet, les adolescents ayant un usage constant des médias sociaux peuvent « [...] compromettre leur santé mentale en réduisant leurs heures de sommeil et le temps qu’elles consacrent à l’exercice physique, en augmentant leur exposition à la cyberintimidation ». (Radio- Canada, 2019). Cette cause moins connue est pourtant bien réelle. L’apparition de cette nouvelle réalité nous amène à poser la question suivante: En quoi la dépendance aux médias sociaux peut-elle avoir un impact sur la santé mentale?

Une consommation abusive de réseaux sociaux peut avoir une incidence sur l’apparition de symptômes dépressifs. En effet, l’usage des réseaux sociaux peut mener à des détresses psychologiques à force de se comparer aux autres. Pour les personnes touchées, il s’agit souvent d’un combat sans fin car elles « […] peuvent faire face à plusieurs conséquences émotionnelles et psychologiques, dont le sentiment de honte vis-à-vis leur corps, l’autodénigrement, l’anxiété, la dépression, la dysfonction sexuelle et allant jusqu’aux troubles alimentaires » (Paul, J. 2018 : 15). Cette pression sociale d’avoir une vie et un corps parfaits vient créer des inquiétudes par rapport à la façon dont les gens se perçoivent et ces derniers finissent par développer des troubles psychologiques sérieux à force d’être rongés par ces insécurités quotidiennement.  De plus, l’utilisation abusive des plateformes sociales comme moyen de socialisation peut causer de l’anxiété: « Facebook use has a complex relationship with anxiety: sheer use (of lack thereof) may trigger anxiety among some users, exacerbate or maintain anxiety for those with preexisting anxiety, or reduce anxiety when social connectedness benefits are realized. » (Frost, R. & Rickwood, D. 2017 : 592) 

Ainsi, tout dépendant de l’utilisation qu’en fait le consommateur, les médias sociaux peuvent également avoir des conséquences positives, en plus des négatives, sur le bien-être psychologique. Ils permettent effectivement de réduire le sentiment d’isolement tout en permettant de maintenir des relations sociales à longue distance. ( Frost, R. & Rickwood, D. 2017 : 596). En somme, il est possible de constater qu’il y a une corrélation entre le temps passé sur les réseaux sociaux et l’apparition de symptômes dépressifs et anxieux.
