NASA reveled satellite images of the fire in Pedrógão Grande. Portugal is literally burning. The fire still has 4 active fronts and our heroes are still at the various sites. 971 fireman and 304 vehicles, plus one air support vehicle. The fire started at 3 p.m. Saturday and has since then spread to 2 more districts. Sending lots of love to everyone affected and best of luck to the fireman and all the families who lost everything.

You probably have no idea, but there is a HUGE fire in Portugal, more specificaly in Pedrogão Grande that began yesterday. The firefighters have been trying to extinguish it for more than 24 hours, but the flames just keep getting bigger and angrier. They have consumed entire villages and took 62 lives so far. 30 of those were people that were trappen inside their cars and couldn’t escape.
The police is saying the cause was a lightning that struk a tree.
It has been very hot lately and our spring (usualy very rainy) was dry, very dry this year.
Now is not the time to point the finger nor talk about what could have/ should have been done, because those people died, elderly, adults and children as old as 3 and 4.
It’s hell on hearth. But thanks to our brave firefighters, awesome heath professionals and our competent authorities those who were lucky enough to escape are being helped. I can’t imagine how horrible it is to those people who lost all their fields, their animals, their home... their loved ones... all burned to the groud and nothing to go back to.
This is no joke, it’s not even summer and these disasters are already happening. There is no recent memory of such thing...
My heart is with the families of all the victims and those who are hurting.
This summer remember a few things:
1. don’t litter in the woods, I mean DON’T LITTER! PERIOD! (glass bottles are a sure way to start a fire, don’t be irresponsible)
2. don’t start fires if you don’t know how to do it, or if you don’t hake the necessary precussions (camping is fun and telling horror stories is also fun, but if you don’t know how to make a safe fire, don’t risk it)
3. If you see someone litter, call their attention! and if you see trash in the woods pick it up
4. Stay hydrated (it is very important to hydrate yourself) and use a lot of sunscreen
and last but not least
5. If you see a fire, no matter how small it is, call for help! a small fire can grow tremendously in just a few minutes (like the one in Pedrogão)
Again, my condolences to the families of the victims, sending lots of love your way and best of luck to the families still waiting to return to their homes... or at least to see if they still have a home.

🥀My country, my home, my heart… it kills me to see what’s going. Over 33 thousand hectares burned. The number of deaths has risen from 62 to 64. A fireman lost his life. Dozens injured and a dozen others with no home to go back to. In just 500 meters of road, 30 people died inside their cars. Small villages burned to ashes. Imagine waking up and half your neighbours were gone. Where there was once a green forest and green fields there is nohing but a memory of lost lives. But the battle is not over. 3 days have passed… my heart, my home, my country…🥀
