He raised a hand as if he meant to reach for her, to cup her face, or brush the loose strands of hair that framed her face, or perhaps to just hold her hand in his own, yet instead it fell back by his side.

"The last thing I wish to do is burden you with sins that are mine to bear."

And if he was being honest, he didn't want her to look at him any differently. He had already divulged much of the details of Cruxis to her, including that he used to travel with Yuan, Mithos, and Martel, but he had refrained from the more grisly details.

"However, if you're willing, I would ask that you remain with me. It's selfish, I know, but I feel...lighter when you're with me." He had no other way of explaining it.
