Occasionally, I have the desire to pop onto Tumblr and attempt to relight the candle within me that still loves this hellsite and longs to return, and apparently this is one of those times. So tonight, I decided to come into your inbox and ask you a random question like old times,,,,, pray to god the ask doesn’t get eaten by the tumblr gods, depraved though the may be,,,,, anyway, here’s a thought, perhaps inspired by my impending SKZ concert (still screaming, crying, throwing up, wanting to eat glass, and commit murder over such a statement. Can you BELIEVE it’s actually gonna happen!!!! This isn’t just the fangirl pipe dream it usually is!!!!):

If you could attend any concert (past, present; not even currently in the works, outside of the majesty of your imagination), what would it be?? But like,,,, top 5 concerts because I know you have too much love in your heart to ever possibly choose just one <3

Also, I’m still exploring ATEEZ but I think it vital you know that I was seriously considering just making hongjoong my bias today and sticking by it, and then I found out,,,,,, he’s the shortest member of ATEEZ,,,,,, it was a joke I love my short kings, but idk how much of a joke it truly IS, anymore. I can’t deny the facts that beyond Namjoon, all my biases are the short ones,,,,,,,

BTS (I would agree I would literally not care whatever era, for whatever setlist, but if I have to be 100% honest I'd kill to go to their Love Yourself tour, every fancam I've seen, every performance we've gotten filmed, I NEED!)

Taylor Swift - Eras Tour (there still might be a chance for me to attend. Please miss blondie release the international dates I will commit crime to get hands on tickets)

Agust D (can you believe Yoongi is going on a world tour and going to like 10 countries. Askjfs I get it with his enlistment and all and we're for sure getting concert clips but I WANT TO BE IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS!!! Plus I'm 90% we're gonna get Tony Montana with Jimin and I would and will go insane when that happens)

Seventeen - Be The Sun Tour (I got legit post concert depression when this ended and I didn't even attend

Twenty One Pilots - The Bandito Tour (bruh I sooo should have caved and got tickets back in 2018. Every single time I listen to Trench - one of my favourite albums of all time - I constantly think of how amazing it would be to hear live. and then I die a little inside knowing I'll never get the chance)

You did your best with keeping your eyes straight ahead despite the feeling of your manager looking at you while sitting at the driver’s seat.

Even though he was driving, you could tell that he was watching you from the corner of his eye and the way he fidgeted next to you was a clear indication that he wanted to say something.

“Oppa, I’m fine.” You decide to end his squirming, but your words only made his frown deepen and a sigh passed his lips. “Are you really? You aren’t usually this quiet.” He states in a knowing tone, but you ignore it the best you can and shrug the comment off. “I’m just tired. You know that we were busy.”

You understood his worries, however, because aside from burning yourself out from all the schedules and practices, you’ve been receiving some not so pleasant words from people all over the world.

Being part of one of South Korea’s biggest girl groups, of course everyone would be watching you and of course they had something to say about you simply because of how you looked or how you acted.

Recently though, due to a hangout with other idol friends, people were quick to make up theories about how you rarely spend time with your members and that you’re often with other people instead. While actual fans did defend you, it hurt when a lot of Blinks were the source of the hate comments you were receiving.

“You know that what they say isn’t true. Just because you’re in a group doesn’t mean you have to confine yourself with only the girls. You’re allowed to have friends.” Your manager reminded you when he dropped you off at the dorm and you offered him a small smile. “Thank you, oppa.”

Exiting the vehicle, you slowly walked into the dorm, your feet dragging against the concrete floor while you kept your head down, hands stuffed in your jacket’s pockets due to the cold weather.

Upon reaching the door, you could already hear the sound of Lisa and Jennie screaming from the other side, probably the latter messing around again. You couldn’t help the small smile that tugged on your lips, but that didn’t last long as you let out a breath and finally unlocked the door to enter, putting your shoes away before quietly walking to your room.

“Y/n! How was the shoot?” Jisoo called out when she heard the door open, pausing her game just so she could look at you. You ended up stopping by your bedroom door to look at her and flashed a quick smile. “It was fun.” You said simply. “I saw Yeri and-”

Before you could say more about your day, Chaeyoung had popped up from her room, squealing as she held her phone out. “Unnie! You have to see this!” She announced and, just like that, Jisoo’s attention was whisked away, making the corner of your lips turn downwards before you decided to just freshen up and stay in bed.

“I wanna see, too!” You heard Lisa yell right when you closed the door gently behind you. Even when you wanted to distract yourself from your members, the ruckus outside and the volume of their voices was just too loud that you felt as though they were mocking you for not being a part of their fun.

Of course, you had nothing against your members. You loved and cherished them deeply. But there were instances where you felt as though you weren’t really part of the circle.

You may work in the same group, but it felt as though you were working with strangers now, compared to when you first debuted. They were often all together while you had to be a few steps behind.

It wasn’t their intention. You know that for a fact because there are still times that Jennie comes to cuddle with you when she wakes up in the morning. Chaeyoung still goes to you when she receives a gift that she finds really adorable. Jisoo is always cooking for you and making sure that you’re healthy, and Lisa still looks at you with the same fond smile on her face whenever you’re together.

But why on earth did it feel like you were never really part of the group anymore? Why did it seem like it that even strangers point out that there’s a gap between you and the four of them?

While staring at yourself in the mirror, you wipe away the lone tear that managed to force itself down your face before you proceeded to clean up and take off your makeup.

After you got changed in more comfortable clothing, you let yourself fall on the bed, letting out a grunt in the process. With your arms extended to your sides, you stared up at the ceiling, thinking back on your relationship with the other four girls and the comments people had about you.

It was unhealthy, which was why you were often reminded not to read them. But there were times that they would slip and like any other person, they still hurt you despite pretending that you’ve never noticed them. And when more of them started to come up, the more difficult it was for you to ignore.

After getting fed up with all the rumors and comments, you’ve just shut everything about the subject out, thus removing yourself from your members just so you could numb out the pain of what everyone was telling you.

The sound of your phone buzzing again made your heart drop because you were already anticipating what it was due to what you received today. But it didn’t change the fact that it left a bitter taste in your mouth when you saw the few more texts people have sent your way on Instagram.

“Give me a break.” You muttered before carelessly tossing your phone aside and grabbing a pillow to place on your head. Shutting your eyes tight, you do your best to keep any sound from escaping your lips while you wept against your pillow.

“Where’s Y/n?” Jennie asked after she finished setting the table and finally took a seat. “In her room, I think. She hasn’t left since she came home.” Jisoo replied while frowning and setting her phone down on the table.

“Can someone call her? She’s probably hungry by now.” The rapper requested and Lisa was already on her feet and skipping over to your room, humming as she did.

And while waiting, the other three just stayed at the table and Chaeyoung played with her spoon. “Y/n has been really busy recently.” She suddenly commented, making the other two look over at her. “We’re celebrities. I think it’s understandable that she’s busy.” Jennie replied confusedly, but the silver haired woman shook her head. “No, I mean, she spends a lot of time outside. We rarely get to spend time together unless we all have a schedule together. But even then, she still feels... I don’t know.”

Jisoo glances back to the direction of your room, spotting Lisa walking back. “Where's maknae?” She notices that the smile the Thai woman previously wore was no longer present, so naturally, her worry set in when there was no sight of you on top of that.

“She’s sleeping.” Lisa mumbled while taking a seat and Chaeyoung glanced at the two with the same look she had earlier. “Did something happen?” She couldn’t help but ask and Lisa nibbles on her lower lip before running her fingers through her short hair. “Well, when I went to check on her, I thought she was just pretending to ignore me.” She explained, her lips pursed together. “When I took her pillow, she really was sleeping but... she looked like she was crying.” She finally says and Jennie sat upright.

“Crying?” She demanded, her protective instincts coming to light when Lisa confirmed that you were, in fact, crying. “She looked so tired, so I didn’t wake her up to ask.” She added and the four of them looked to each other, silently wondering what could be the source of your sadness.

As they started to eat, none of them could think of any possible reasons for you to be crying. You’ve always displayed yourself as a bright and happy go lucky person. It was one of the traits fans loved about you that they considered you to be Blackpink’s happy pill.

Even during the times they cried on stage, you were seen smiling at your unnies and comforting them. The time Jennie cried on tour, you were quick to cheer her up, wrapping your arms around her and playfully dancing with her that she eventually started to smile again even though she cried enough to stain your shirt with a bit of her makeup. Even when Chaeyoung cried at the concert in Australia, you were already waiting for her backstage with open arms.

While you were the youngest among all of you, they had to admit that they’ve never really seen you cry. Maybe they’ve caught you teary eyed in one of your birthday surprises, but that was it.

Suddenly, Jennie’s phone vibrated, drawing everyone’s attention as she answered the call. “Yeri, what’s up?” She asked but hearing more of the girl’s words had ended up making her brows pinch together and her expression seemed to drop even more. “No, she’s just sleeping. Lisa checked on her a while ago.” She replied, quickly checking on the others, spotting them all waiting for her to finish.

“What? No, I haven’t checked anything yet.” She bit her lip before sighing. “Yeah. Yeah, I’ll try to talk to her when she’s up.” She nodded even though she knows the other couldn’t see her. “Thank you. I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”

“What did Yeri say?” Lisa asked and Jennie quickly opened up the app to check on the post the Red Velvet member told her about. Since she hasn’t really logged in for a while, she didn’t know what was happening.

And it looked like the others did, too.

When the comments section finally showed up, they could clearly see that Jennie wasn’t happy by what was on there. But since they didn’t know what she was looking at, they grew a bit impatient.

“Yah! What is is?” Jisoo asked and Jennie let out a huff as she exited the app and locked her phone. “People are such assholes, I swear.” She muttered and while leaning back against the chair. “They’ve been talking about Y/n not being a part of Blackpink, again.”

Chaeyoung and Lisa’s face scrunch up in displeasure while Jisoo scowls. “They’re doing this again?” She scoffed before checking on the comments for herself, wondering just how bad they were this time around.

“But Y/n wasn’t like this before?” It sounded much more like a question instead of a statement and Lisa leaned her head back when she let out a breath. “Or she was already bothered by it but didn’t want to tell us about it.”

“Why would she do that?” Chaeyoung countered, clearly confused.

“Because she doesn’t want us to worry, obviously.” Jennie responded before she stood up. “Where are you going?” Jisoo asked worriedly when she saw the look that was present on the brunette’s face.

Though she was also worried, she didn’t want Jennie to be disrupting your sleep over this issue, knowing full well that you needed to rest after a long day.

“I’m just going to my room, think stuff through.” She replied without turning to look at them. “Can you clean up for me?” The girls understood why Jennie was asking the way she did. She looked after you like an actual older sister even when you were only younger than Lisa by a couple months.

Looking back at the comments on the group’s official page, she had to grit her teeth when she saw all the horrible and nasty comments “fans” have left on the most recent post.

How could they call you all of that when you were nothing but an absolute sweetheart that made her and the girls smile? And thinking back on what Lisa’s said, she couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty that she made you think that you couldn’t let your own guard down just because you were the one holding all of them together.

When she saw people saying Blackpink would be better off without you, she felt tears prick at her eyes just at the thought of not having you around. God, were you thinking of leaving?

She knows that there are idols who end up leaving their groups because of hate.

At that thought, Jennie shot up from her bed and she was quickly making her way across the hall and into your room, bumping into Jisoo on the way there and catching her off guard.

“You said to leave her alone.” Jisoo shrugged her shoulders in response. “I just went to check. I didn’t wake her up.” She answers before pointing over her shoulder where the rest of the maknae line was placing some blankets on the airbeds you all kept somewhere in case you had some friends over.

“You can take the bed. The three of us are staying on the floor, so don’t worry.” Releasing the breath she didn’t know she was holding, the younger one nodded and smiled gratefully before she’s fully entering the room and then making her way over to your bed.

Chaeyoung and Lisa had their heads rested at the edge of your bed, just quietly watching you with sad eyes, almost resembling lost puppies who were looking for their owner. Jennie would have laughed at the sight, but when she noticed your tired face, it reminded her on why she came here in the first place.

“You think we can convince management in taking a break?” Chaeyoung asks softly when she was gently tracing the side of your face with the tips of her fingers, being careful as to not wake you and Lisa rests her chin against her arm. “At the rate we’re at now, I don’t think it’s too far off.” She mumbled quietly when Jennie laid beside you.

Her arm automatically wrapped around your waist and even when with the fact that you were asleep, your body was quick in reacting to her touch as you turned to your side and nuzzled into her when Chaeyoung withdrew her hand.

Seeing you look so drained had pained their hearts because they had hoped to look after you since you were the youngest, but it turned out being the complete opposite where they were even unaware of the things you were going through.

Looking at your slightly smaller frame curled up to her, Jennie let out a sigh as she pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “You’ll be alright, little angel. We’re going to take care of you.” She whispered softly before pulling you further into her.

The next morning, you were surprised to wake up to someone next to you. At first, it made you panic, but the moment your eyes opened, you had calmed significantly to see Jennie’s sleeping face.

But that didn’t make the situation any less confusing.

Moving from under her arm, you lifted your upper body to look around for your phone, only to be, once again, startled when you saw the other three of your group fast asleep on the floor.

Lisa’s legs were draped over both Jisoo and Chaeyoung despite not being in the middle and you wonder how Chaeyoung was comfortable with having both that and then Jisoo’s arm around her neck.

“Don’t go.” Jennie’s muffled groan causes you to look back at her. With her face scrunched up and the way her arm tightened around you, you worry that she may be having a bad dream. But her eyes open right before you decided to wake her and she pulls you back into her.

“Don’t go, Y/n. I need you here.” She whispered and you’re extremely bewildered by her sudden clingy nature. Though she is typically clingy in the morning, she’s never been this clingy where she would actually force you to stay in bed.

“But don’t we have to work?” You asked her. Her response is a huff before her other hand was already guiding your head to her chest, allowing you to hear the steady beat of her heart. “Later. Right now, I need you here.”

It was going to be a bit of struggle getting you to open up about everything, but at the moment, Jennie wants you to know that you’re wanted and needed. If not the company, then by her and the girls.

She was going to let you know that she wasn’t going to let you go so easily. Because even when you haven’t said anything, after she realized the steps you were taking in pulling away from them, there was already a forming doubt inside of you.

And she and the girls would do whatever it takes to get rid of it.

Kimiko Yukihira 🍳

Kimiko has her own little radio in her room and this radio is pretty much her main source of exposure to music. She therefore listens to a lot of Pop and is especially fond of the upbeat kind. Thanks to the men in her family she has been introduced to various Rock or more Alternative songs as well though. 

Favorite Artists: I feel she’d like Owl City & possibly also Paramore

Hiroshi Aldini-Tadokoro ⚓️

Hiroshi listens to soft things that ease him down. His playlist is full of cute, soft-sounding pop songs and acoustic stuff. 

Favorite Artists: Hm, Jason Mraz, Sleeping At Last & Ai Means Love, I think

Mika Aldini ☀️

As an avid dancer, Mika mainly listens to songs that you can also dance to. So her playlists mainly consist of very fast-paced, exciting songs. Her favorite Genre is Latin-Pop, but she listens to a lot of regular Pop as well (as long as it’s good for dancing). She also does enjoy some Reggae once in a while, especially if she does feels like relaxing.

Favorite Artists: Shakira & Jennifer Lopez 

Kaori Hayama 💐

Kaori listens majorly to Soul, R&B & Blues. She considers it very relaxing and she does mainly listen to music in order to relax. Kaori does also have a little soft spot for a lot of older jazzy tunes from her mother’s favorite movies.   

Favorite Artists: Aretha Franklin, Sade, Alicia Keys & Adele

Lola Nakiri 🦊

Lola is Daddy’s little girl when it comes to the matter of music. When Lola Nakiri puts on headphones, she’ll be blasting her ears off with Rock & Heavy Metal. She’s also known to have a rather impressive collection of band T-shirts. She can find some appreciation in the sassy Pop her mom listens to, but ultimately Rock & Metal is where her heart is. 

Favorite Artists: Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin I guess. And probably another Metal Band. I sadly only know a few and only by name because I do not listen to Metal, ever. 

Mona Nakiri 🐺

Techno. Mona walks around with her headphones a lot more than Lola does and what she listens to is all sorts of Techno sub-genres and House, with a good number of  Remixes in-between. 

Favorite Artists: Lea doesn’t know any tbh sfghgfhg

Takayuki Hojo 💥

Takayuki listens to Rock like the tough cookie he is. Should he ever listen to anything that isn’t Rock, his father or Suzume most likely made him listen to it. His two favorite songs of all time are “T.N.T” by AC/DC & “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor (Takayuki loves the Rocky movies)

Favorite Artists: As long as it’s Rock he doesn’t care who sings. Okay but he is pretty fond of AC/DC and Guns n’ Roses

Kazuo Mimasaka 💕

My boy Kazuo surely has one big playlist that is filled with nothing but the most sappiest and emotional love-ballads imaginable. And I don’t even want to think about how long it would be. Kazuo can listen to almost anything, the exception being Hardcore Gangster Rap, but what he listens to privately is...yeah, Ballads. 

Favorite Artists: Lionel Richie & Celine Dion are the first names to come to my mind. “My Heart Will Go On” is at the very top of Kazuo’s playlist

Yasu Ibusaki 🌲

Shun passed his liking for Rock down to Yasu. When growing older, Yasu additionally also developed a love for all things Indie & Folkish. Has been called a Hipster for his music taste more than once by Hideyoshi. 

Favorite Artists: Arctic Monkeys, Twenty One Pilots, Hozier 

Chieko Marui 📚

Chieko does listen to a lot of LoFi or Movie/Video Game Soundtracks for studying and relaxation. Her favorite movie soundtrack is that of “The Theory of Everything”. However, when it comes to casual listening her mother got her into Pop. And also thanks to her father, Chieko kinda became accustomed to Pop from all decades. She majorly listens to all sorts off love songs. 

Favorite Artists: TAYLOR SWIFT, Chieko is a confirmed Swiftie. Also really likes Britney Spears tho I feel. 

Hideyoshi Kawashima 🎤

Hideyoshi listens mainly to things you can #party to. Out of all the characters he’s the one who keeps up with the charts the most. Likes Pop and also K-Pop! His dad did successfully get him into some HipHop as well though. Hideyoshi also has a secret soft spot for the boybands of the 90s.

Favorite Artists: Jason Derulo, Backstreet Boys & BTS

Daisuke Aoki 🎸

Daisuke is our Retro-Kid. His music libraries is mostly 80s and 70s, with some songs of the 50s and 60s that his father likes in-between. Is usually the last one in Polar Star to discover the newest hit in the charts, because he’s too busy bopping to the past. Lea can relate. 

Favorite Artists: Queen, A-ha & Huey Lewis & The News

Hiraku Yukihira 🐙

Hiraku likes the modern Rock from the 2000s and 2010s. Occasionally he will stumble over something in the Indie and Alternative department and then be real proud over being the only one who knows a particular song. 

Favorite Artists: Panic! at the Disco, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons

Akio Hayama 🌱

The same as Kaori. This is a thing they have in common, they both do enjoy the same music pretty much. Though I can picture Akio liking some Reggae once in a while in addition. Also just a few days ago, I established that he’s a secret theatre kid who also listens to a lot of Show Tunes. 

Favorite Artists: Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye 

Suzume Hojo 🔥

Out of all the characters in the cast, I’d say that Suzume probably has the broadest music taste. She is capable of enjoying a lot of stuff. Being the Meme-Lord that Suzume is, she does love to put on some Meme- and Guilty Pleasure songs. Though of course, there is irony playing into that enjoyment. When it comes to the songs she enjoy unironically, they’re mostly very fast-paced and energetic. I guess you could say her favorite genre is bouncy pop of all decades. Her favorite song of all time would be “Girls just want to have fun”. 

Favorite Artists: Lizzo, Beyoncé and Cindy Lauper. 

Shigeo Eizan 💎

Jazz is Love. Jazz is Life. Shigeo listens to Jazz ahdhd. A lot. He basically always has Jazz going on in the background when he’s working. When he finds the time to listen more attentively, he loves listening to Swing the most. 

Favorite Artists: Frank Sinatra. Also likes Michael Bublé tho I feel. 

Noboru Shinomiya 🍂

Noboru loves nothing more than his collection of classic French Chansons. It’s what he listens to on his long autumn walks through Paris and it makes him happy and content. He also does like the Enka-songs his mother enjoys though.

Favorite Artists: Joe Dassin and Édith Piaf

Kiyoko Saito 🌸

Kiyoko really loves Classical Japanese music a lot but she only really does listen to it on special occassions. She does also enjoy a lot of modern Pop and also K-Pop as well though and she really loves to put it on whenever she dresses up, paints her nails... etc. (Also I can see her being into Vocaloid tbh). 

Favorite Artists: BLACKPINK. I can also see her liking Ariana Grande

Masashi Eizan 🍜

Okay this is our true Classic-Fanatic. All of Nene’s efforts to bring Masashi to operas, ballets and just plain classical concerts have paid off. Masashi listens majorly to Classical Japanese music or Western Classical music. He also does really like Enka. 

Favorite Artist: His favorite Western composer is Beethoven, I haven’t figured out anything else yet. 

Ran Mimasaka 🖋

Ran listens to a lot of operas actually ahdh because, well, she likes operas. Aside from that, she does also enjoy Rock and ChillHop though shdhf. To some this might be a weird combo, but it do be like that sometimes.  

Favorite Artists: In the Rock-department it’s David Bowie.

YES the differences are so fucking weird. like, they do know they're the same age right? i feel like its just an exagguration of how much the persons role in the group matters, like we see chan being held up as such a mature, old leader while jungkook who is literally the same age, is still babied etc. like enha hyung line is basically the same age (if a bit younger) as chenle and jisung but somehow the rules are different?? as you point out, still legal but still bizarre. hehe yeah, i mean where else are we going to rant? quora lol. mmm, hopefully more people can just write less smut abt people who are barely adults

@ameehhhhh tagged me in this; thank you as always love!! ♥︎ (thanks for the moral support btw c’:) All of my crying aside, I’m actually looking forward to this a lot. I want you to keep in mind as you read this that I haven’t been *seriously* into kpop for very long--give me another month and this list may completely change!! Uh I don’t think I’m going to put these in any particular order as of now. However I will give a very brief (or eh not so brief) reason why I love them!! Artist repeats doesn’t matter, this is strictly songs! (❖ means it’s going to be a #Kpop-theory subject... someday hahah. Stay tuned in the next couple weeks y’all)

If I haven’t heard a song it’s not going to be on here, oh well c: You know how hard it is to stan all the underrated kpop groups at once????

1. Fighter, Monsta X Ok so starting off the list with a bang(er) !! This is an incredibly addictive anthem and every time I listen to it I just want to put my dukes up and punch all my troubles in the face. Very few songs give me such Joie de Vivre and fighting spirit! I know you hear (or eh, see) me go on about Monsta X all the time, but hear me out on this one. With every single release that they do, their sound gets better I swear. Kihyun’s ad lib in the last (alt) chorus here is #e x p e r t !! Strap your seatbelts on for their comeback, kids, if the quality keeps improving like we’ve been seeing, and I know it is, they’re going to be THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Mark my words. PS. Also tHIS MUSIC VIDEO

2. All In, Monsta X I was debating putting Be Quiet in this spot but then I remembered just how much I love All In. It’s like highkey but lowkey at the same time??? I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be energetic or not but I love it???? The other thing I’ve noticed is that it starts out like a rap but then becomes so melody driven... in contrast to Trespass which starts melodic but becomes rap driven? PS. Also tHIS MUSIC VIDEO

3. Gorilla, Pentagon I’ve been pretty vocal on this blog about this song, so anyone who knows me will also know that I adore this track. It has such a cool sound, the beat is addictive, the melody is catchy, and the raps are masterful. (”Like Boom Boom Boom” ;^;) The slow bass drop in the background?? IT’S ALSO IN THE KEY OF CONCERT E MINOR?????? For only their sophomore effort of their freshman year, I’m totally impressed. Pentagon is going to go far. I’m also really into Pretty Pretty, I believe that one’s actually on Five Senses? As for Can You Feel It, that’s a cool track too but I’m not as big of a fan of it--the tonality is extremely unstable in that one and it sets me on edge. ❖

4. Fantasy, VIXX Haha yeah this is another one that I’ve said I love 400,000,000 times. In my humble opinion, VIXX is incredibly underrated for how good their vocals are and ALSO THEIR LYRICS. The words to Fantasy are absolute poetry™, even in English translation. They’re seriously worth looking up. Let’s see what else... Ending on the leading tone in the chorus. Notes go rly high wow. Like favorite song of all time 12/10 would recommend ❖

5. Kki, Cross Gene This song never fails to get me dancing. I think it has a pretty similar sound to Gorilla and that’s a definite +. A lot of the songs on CG’s Game (mini?) album are amazing but this one’s the best in my opinion. In case you’re curious, the interval in the chorus is a perfect fifth

6. Saxophone, Double S 301 It’s so hard to choose an absolute favorite Double S 301 2016 release. I think between 21gram, Remove, and Saxophone though it’d be the last. This track has everything I love, a sampled saxophone hook, killer harmonies, and a singable melody. It’s catchy too?? 

7. 21gram, Double S 301 Need a ballad and more than your feels can handle? Turn this one on and look up some lyrics and I guarantee you’ll be crying in under a minute. This could seriously be a wedding song (or a cry-to-your-breakup song). If you’ve never listened to Double S 301 (SS301), please do, I’m begging you. Their harmonies are the absolute best! Also you can listen to music by them under their former name, SS501, most of that is pretty good too.

8. Monster, EXO So this is an extremely popular song, with good reason in my opinion. Its dark sound and themes are thought provoking and intriguing, and the melody itself starts and ends on the seventh of the key???? I’ll tell you more about that later. ❖

9. Boom Boom, Seventeen I’m in absolute love with the quasi funk sound of this track. I will admit that I’m not too much a fan of Seventeen yet but their harmonies impress me. 

10. Yes or No, UP10TION I just started listening to this one recently and I’m in.love.already. The chords are simply amazing and I could sing the melody all day. I also believe that it changes keys a few times? At least it switches between minor and major which is always amazing to hear. The one thing that I’ve been thinking about UP10TION since I started listening to them was, wow they go really high... maybe higher than other groups. I’ll have to do some testing on this though.

11. Lie, BTS (Jimin) So yes I know I don’t post about BTS as much as some people think I should. I like their music, and not just Jimin and Rapmon, trust me!! Lie is so unique, it has the quality that we’ve come to expect from BTS (well Jimin), expert vocals and amazing lyrics. The song stands out though because of its powerful presence and weight as well. Bonus points for the minor, subdued verses and then...... “.....Caught in a lie” me: wtf that is such a major sound my heart has been wounded

12. Boombayah, BLACKPINK Remind me to explain the ‘East Asian’ synth sound to you sometime... This track embodies it. I love the unrelenting bass in this one too. I know a lot of people say that BLACKPINK lacks vocals and they get shit for YG’s head calling them his ‘prettier 2NE1′, but I think they have potential. 

13. Back Again, KNK I love the piano beginning, and then, the beat kicks in and makes this one all worth it. I also like the inflection with which ‘back again’ is said. I will confess though I haven’t listened to much more by KNK, so I might search around and change my mind on this one. I plan to look into them more in the future though. 

14. It’s Raining, SNUPER At first I didn’t really like Snuper’s sound, but their ‘Rain of Mind’ Mini-album grew on me. I think that they accomplish a pretty good blend of genres and styles on it. It’s Raining, for instance, reminds me of an ‘80s-‘90s New Wave song. Among the other ones they do are Jazz (There’s even an on key but really badly done sax solo in So Much in Love.), funk, and a couple others I can’t describe right now.

15. Queen, HISTORY Why don’t more people stan these guys? ;-; Well anyway, the song. I really love the video for this and the song is mature and sexy as well. You might notice a theme in my choices, and that is saxophone hooks. oh there’s also the word ‘boom’ in some shape or form lol. They seem to be universal kpop elements right now lol.
