now that it sat with me for some time, my main problem with Nosferatu, — it's just too tame and polished. i've heard that it's possession (1981) levels of insane, and obviously got excited… spoilers alert, it wasn't :( Coppola's' Dracula was crazier and way hornier, imho (haven't seen Chan-wook's Thirst yet, no opinion on that, but i've heard it's the horniest vampire movie out there). guess it's me problem, since this was my 1st Egger's film (now that i've seen the The Northman, i'm less surprised by the result) and yes, i am still hating on ATJ and Emma Corrin. they looked like they were doing a photoshoot. not just acting wise, but visually as well. surprised to say that Lily was way better than those two. sometimes you can just tell that a movie was made by a man. there was so much potential for it to go insane, freaky and disgusting. as i was watching it, it's like i could feel it being held back. imagine you're going down a hill, hoping to go full speed, but someone keeps hitting the brakes. it's frustrating.
#i'm not going to spoil how Orlok looks don't worry#nosferatu 2024#still like it tho. rating remains 4/5 but i'm biased (not because of the director or actors. couldn't care less. i'm just a goth at heart)#but the true rating is probably 3.5/5#SPOILERS BELOW!#in the interview Eggers confirmed that Ellen was more like a modern woman stuck in that time. she was called hysterical her whole life#and the only connection she could find was a demon. so it's a love triangle of sorts. because not even Thomas understood her#so the only real connection she had was Orlok. the vamp-demon. sounds cool. wish it was better developed#txt.ash
