y'know... for a setting that places so much importance in Language and does so many ice cool things playing with it (Correspondence/Discordance, Parabola & Irem, etc) i think there's a bit of a missed opportunity when it comes to the terms and words people use in their day to day life... like for example:

do you think radical revolutionaries would avoid words like "enlightening" in their vocabulary and flip them for LON-appropriate counterparts to signal their beliefs?

like substituting the word "light" with "blight". lol

similarly, pet names relating to light like "sunshine" kinda have a whole extra flavour tied to them, leaning into nostalgia, melancholy and/or danger depending on the people using it. irony, even

"honey" as a pet name also has extra connotations now and might actually bother some people instead due to the association with the drug...

do you think SMEN, taboo as it is, and seeking being a recognizable phenomenon even to the common londoner, would spawn swear words and insults? (imagine the weight of telling someone to Go Seek or Fall Down a Well)

the word "well" itself. well as an adverb, interjection, adjective. just. think about it. think about what it represents. idk something is happening to this word for sure

something I think people forget re: taboo fiction or art is how formative it often is for children; either by contrasting normality, or highlighting the absence of it: making kids more aware of their reality and could-be realities, testing the waters of their imagination, warming up their empathy-drive. it’s about understanding, of situations and of character, of choices made then un-made. yapping here but I’m thinking of my childhood best friend telling me in hushed tones about flowers in the attic, or us huddled together watching the phantom of the opera and wishing this time Christine will choose her ostensible (objective) abuser—who we couldn’t help but see our own insecurities in, feel connected to on account of otherness and being othered; I remember talking to her about the peach scene in call me by your name (book not movie; our friendship had stalled by that point) and that one wattpad story where a man kidnapped four girls he named after flowers and raped them; writing our own stories about torn bodies and ghosts and angels who can’t be good and magic that only ruins everything and love that is hurtful more than it is pure — stories that, to us, didn’t reflect on something miserable, only something true. I have seen your reblog about Centurion (the movie). I have watched it with my mum about five years ago and I personally loved it. It does not set the vibes of neither 300 not Gladiator, and I believe -I am not sure though- it is set in the medieval ages. It does not raise to the quality of Troy/Gladiator/300, but I enjoyed it a lot.

P.S: I loved Dominic West in it, he was SMOKIN HOT

I needed someone to give me a brief idea of what the thing looks like. The title made me think It was some sort of ancient Rome thing and the dark colour palette in the few pictures I saw made imagine some sort of " Gladiator on the vibe of 300" mashup.

( Which was not as non sensical as it sounds for a guess, considering four years later we got a Gladiator/Titanic mashup film with Pompeii.)

I was precisely wondering if it was worth checking and it seems the case, so thanks again for solving this intrigue for me :)

( Just did quick search of him and you do are very much right my friend, way better than in 300. I think his presence near Fassbender fed my guesses as well. )

In the future, would you ever consider reworking hiuh in order to publish it as original fiction? Alternatively, if that's not something you're interested in, do you have aspirations/plans to write and publish original fiction? I think yours is some of the most gorgeous and evocative writing I've read in recent times and I would honestly love to buy a published work of yours some day 🥺

i don't think HIUH would work as original fiction for a lot of reasons.

about original fiction . . . yes, i am interested in writing and publishing my original work. i have been outlining, plotting, and drafting a project since 2021 and I am very confident that I will be able to complete it. my main goal right now is to finish editing and posting HIUH, and then move on to my novel(s).
