say what u will about that article, but I think this is true and something white women (like me) can apply in our actual, daily lives: "Women of color, particularly Black women, have been pointing this out for years: White women actively uphold white supremacy by staying silent when they could be vocal."

I hear a lot about "time theft," but I always wonder if there's an equivalent concept for a company or corporation which lies about their employees receiving their due breaks

The way that nearly every experience I've had with Lucifer can be summed up as 'Calm down and trust yourself more. You're doing fine, kid. In fact.... I'm gonna shove you into the situation you're anxious about unexpectedly. See? Not too bad, right?" 💀

I think one of my favorite things about The Trainee, aside from the slow reveal of who the characters all really are underneath our initial impressions of them, is how realistic it feels of training someone to go from a competitive education setting to a collaborative work space.
As an educator, admittedly in the US, there’s such a competitive nature for scores and individual achievement and there’s not a lot of room for failure. There’s a lot of reasons for helping students to develop an independent wealth of knowledge to pull on for problem solving and critical thinking based on brain science: the more information/patterns stored in your long term memory the more space you have for complex problem solving.
But also, with such an individualistic set up for achievement with self-reliance as a base, it leads to some of the issues we’ve seen the interns grappling with in terms of not being honest when problems come up or not asking a question of how to solve things, or if the decisions they’re making are the right ones. Especially as the assumption is often amongst the group that failure and mistakes mean they’re out of the intern experience. And the general response from the adults has been: you’re learning, this was a mistake but we are a team and we need to work together.
And I just really love seeing that modeled in a television show, how effective teamwork is built and how it’s a skill that has to be learned/taught alongside the technical skills of the job. Clearly that’s not how all workplaces are, but it’s going a long way to show why the production company works well even when problems arise.

i’m not a transandrophobia truther in the slightest don’t get me wrong, but i think some people on here really need to realize and comprehend the fact that cis women, way WAY more often than not, hold extremely significant social and political power over trans men the vast majority of the time in our day to day lives
#sorry not to get on this bullshit i just saw a related post when i opened this app lmao#and by some people i don’t mean anyone in particular im not vagueing anyone or any specific post#and i especially don’t mean any transfem calling out transmisogynistic transmascs either#but yeah i see a lot of implication that trans men are like. somehow significantly privileged over cis women#and ofc i don’t mean that transmascs are incapable of being misogynistic to cis women bc that’s far from the case#but i need someone to name a transmasc with significant political or social or financial power that’s working to set back women’s rights#versus the amount of cis women with any of the aforementioned privileges working to take away the rights of trans people#bc i can think of 4 of the latter just off the top of my head without trying really hard#and the only day to day instance i can think of where trans men would hold significant power over a cis woman is like..#a workplace environment where he completely passes as cis and absolutely no one knows he’s trans at all or even suspects it#but then again most if not all of that privilege would be stripped away the second anyone there found out he was trans#but yeah i really do think some people need to grapple with how they conceptualize gendered privilege and their own power in these dynamics#and how that’s reflected in the way they think about/interact with transmascs#are you disgusted with this random transmasc on tumblr because he’s a man (or vaguely adjacent) or because he’s trans. ykwim#and again i hate the whole transandrophobia thing i think it’s stupid as shit and redundant to put it lightly and briefly but#idk why transmascs that believe in it have become the new face of anti-feminism and MRA movements#and not like. the cis men who started both of those things and contribute to the vast majority of that type of rhetoric in every way#and also hold enough power to leverage those beliefs over both women and also transmascs tbh#i think some people are just repulsed by the idea of anyone willingly wanting to be a man bc they see it as the same as becoming a cis man#in terms of privilege. when in reality by being trans you’re knocked down in terms of power and privilege from all cis people anyways#but also. some people also need to realize that transmascs can also have trauma and complicated feelings about being a man and patriarchy#and more often than not we ARE traumatized by the way cis men (and women!!) have treated us#and grapple with our place in the world as a result. it’s not just as simple as becoming a cis man over night tbh!!#and again i’m not talking about transfems with any of this because the vast Vast majority of transfems understand this more than anyone#i’m mostly talking about cis women both irl and also just in the terminally online leftist sphere#and i also think i should be allowed to vent my grievances with the power cis women often do wield over me without being accused of being a#raging misogynist or MRA or whatever

#okay so random tag post even though it's been ages#me thinks the current place i work is actually decent a la accepting-queer-ppl so?? miiiiight. consider actually putting my#pronouns in my email signature (which hardly gets used but shh) but like. the actual ones not the society/people assume anyway ones#idk i attended a virtual tech focused event for trans dov (yes early but they didn't want to put the event on sun) and you know when#everyone is just sharing their stories and experiences and it's just like... an overwhelming sense of community? anyway that#and since it was hosted by a professional org the topics were all workplace focused and mayhaps that's something i'm thinking abt for#this year. at least within our pride group I might be ready? wild bc for a long time tumblr has been the only place I feel comfy being 100%#myself. but hearing real people's stories makes me feel like that kind of community would be nice to have elsewhere too#and the whole looking to others also turns around into the leading by example thing bc then we had some breakout groups at the end for#networking which is not my favorite but! i did my intro and said I use she/her for work but will use she/they for this group and#then the next person said he/him at work but for this group he/they so that made me wonder if it was bc of me saying so first?#which if it was is kind of like oh. the way I'm looking for those people for me.. I can also be that for someone else#anyway this sounds dumb typed out but irl/professional me has always separated out queer identity so it's new to me#i'm allowed to be giddy okay. just a little. as a treat (is tumblr still using 'as a treat' i really hope so)#oh shit is this what gender euphoria feels like#alright that's it for now i think#gah emotions and whatnot#missed you all btw i'll start actually being online again soon#personal

yknow what i wish i had more people i looked up to
#thinking about sempai/kouhai relationships#like genuine slightly more experienced to younger person relationships not romance#and like man i've always loved the idea of it#that if you have a little more experience you take care of and help teach those who come after#that when you're new you have people you can go to and rely on#like. american culture is So individualized that even entry level jobs expect experience its all about do it yourself#and there's no. reaching a hand out. or like i know there IS but#it's not broadly expected#in any case i've been out of school for ages and none of my jobs really even have any option for that kind of thing#which is where this frustration is coming from#like my in-person job (as opposed to my online where obv i have VERY little interaction even with coworkers)#the only other employees are two adults who've been doing this for ages#and i'm still learning how to communicate with them#and i just. i'm trying to respect them as my superiors but i don't particularly respect them as people#which feels mean but augh#our workplace doesn't give me a lot of room to like see what they're doing and learn from it anyway#i wish i had someone i respected in the admiration way you know#that i could actually see their work. in detail#so i could mimic and learn from them#and it's so childish and i'm too old to be like this#i should be a sempai to other people by now#but i'm so behind#and i'm a complete disaster at communicating with people younger than me lmao#i wish i could at least rest comfortably in my accomplishments but i have none#i wish i were someone who took good care of others but i know myself and my personality is the opposite: better at Being spoiled#and unfortunately i'm both unsuccessful and not trophy wife material#no choice but to do things on my own#if i can't have a partner to spoil me can't i at least have a close relationship with a sempai figure#parent figures don't count 'cause it just makes me feel/act more childish which is the wrong direction!#i'm gonna be embarrassed about all these texts posts later
