Tumblr media
The Red Bayard is Close Range based. It doesn’t have very much variation, only forming types of swords and blades. It is unique for this very reason.
Tumblr media
The Blue Bayard is Long Range based. It primarily makes shooting weapons but can make other long range weapons as well. It is the only Bayard that is solely Long Range.
Tumblr media
The Green Bayard is Close Range based. It forms everything the Red Bayard doesn’t. And No, it can’t form swords.
Tumblr media
The Yellow Bayard is both Long Range and Close Range based. While the other Bayards are focused on the range, the Yellow Bayard is focused on the strength and power of it’s weapons. It’s weapons tend to be more destructive because of this.

Voltron Actor AU S3&S4
Doing this again ‘cause the other one was so fun.
{S3}
Coran’s space pirate outfit was actually made by the actor himself. He also made the paladin suit.
Lotor’s actor actually knew how to fight with a sword since he took lessons when he was younger in order to get a role in a show. He didn’t get it, but he liked it so much he continued training in his free time.
Narti’s actress actually has tiny slits in her mask that allow her to see what’s happening in faraway/action shots. For close-ups, her face is completely covered and she can’t see anything.
The producers and writers allowed the paladins to do multiple takes on how they think their characters would react to hoping to be chosen as the new Black Paladin in “Red Paladin”. They all ended up making it into the show.
Lance had multiple lines for flirting with the Blue Lion, but ended up going with “Are you from outer space, because your body is out of this world!” because that was his best line.
The generals broke out laughing after the cameras cut when Zethrid yelled “Bring the pain!” and did the angry twerking move in “The Hunted”.
She tried various moves just to see what would make the generals laugh
Hunk asking what kind of food Pidge wouldn’t mind eating forever was ad-libbed.
The paladins nearly broke character when they heard Sven speak in “Hole in the Sky”, and afterwards they joked that Shiro’s actor had a secret triplet he never told them about.
They weren’t told that Shiro’s actor would be back that season, so their shocked faces at seeing him are them being genuinely surprised.
Shiro’s actor called “The Journey”, “Shiro Suffers”
Since season 1, the group actually started a “Shiro jar” on set where they drop money in for every time Shiro is put into a perilous situation.
While they do have stunt doubles, the generals try to convince the director to let them do their own stunts. All throughout “Tailing a Comet”, was all the actors and no doubles.
Yes, even Shiro’s haircut got a few teasing remarks from the cast themselves, but Shiro’s actor defends himself saying that he really liked the new look.
Shiro’s actor was genuinely saddened when the black lion wouldn’t respond to him, and one take he can be heard muttering, “My lion’s not responding to me…”
Allura’s actress barely managed to drag Zethrid using her bayard during one take, but she couldn’t do it after that.
In “The Legend Begins” all of the original paladins and the new paladins took a picture together after they were done filming.
Honerva was played by Haggar’s actress niece, Zarkon’s actor had his brother play his younger self.
The hardest scene for Zarkon’s actor to do was sitting by Honerva’s bedside and watching her slowly go mad. It’s worse when Zarkon and Haggar’s actors are married in real life.
{S4}
Keith’s actor had a hard time filming during “Code of Honor” when they were shooting the no gravity scenes where he’d need to jump from place to place. He ended up feeling a little sick afterwards.
Lance’s line “Razzle-dazzle” was ad-libbed because he thought laughing with delight wasn’t cutting it and the writers decided to keep it. His actor admits that when they start shooting scenes of the paladins putting on the show’s he listens to “Razzle Dazzle” from Chicago to get pumped up.
Pidge couldn’t help humming “The Imperial March” when she put on the dark cloak during “Reunion”
Pidge’s actress had to take breaks when filming the graveyard scene, admitting it was hard for her to imagine ever losing her brother. The paladins hug her offset when she goes to them for comfort during that episode.
Pidge and Matt’s actors had to be separated for a week and were not allowed to contact each other until they filmed their reunion scene so it felt more genuine for the two.
Matt’s actor once accidentally broke his staff when he was supposed to slide into it and hit the bounty-hunters whips, and he also slipped into it in other takes.
In “Black Site” Matt and Pidge’s actors had to stop filming the scene where Hunk gave them milkshakes after a few takes because they got a brain freeze.
Matt and Shiro changed their nickname form “Ker-Bros” to “Scar-Bros” after they reunited. They even jokingly held a competition of who looked better with the scar.
There are plenty of jokes between Lotor and Zarkon’s actors, but after Zarkon was placed in his new armor, the Vader jokes increased.
The writers originally had a scene where Lance and Allura attempt to bond over the video game, but when they brought Kaltenecker back, Lance proved that he could actually milk the cow and pointed out the Alteans would have no idea where the milk comes from. The writers ended up rewriting the whole scene.
All of the paladins had a blast with “The Voltron Show!” and they were surprised to see some of their ideas brought to screen.
Pidge was the one who suggested “Voltron on Ice” because she used to skate when she was younger.
Allura was the one who thought of having Voltron talk.
Shiro had to do multiple takes with Coran because he kept laughing at the “put on this super tight shirt” line.
Coran added in the line, “Help me Bi-Bo-Bih, you’re my only hope!” at behest of his children who are Star Wars fans.
The entire group have their own nicknames for the Bi-Bo-Bihs, ranging from “wormies”, to “breadsticks”
After season 4, the whole cast got their own personalized Bi-Bo-Bihs.
As Keith’s actor filmed for the scene in “A New Defender”where he attempts to break the force-field, when everyone was allowed to view it, the paladins were screaming so loudly that afterwards they piled onto Keith’s actor, saying that they loved him and don’t want him sacrificing himself.
Acxa’s actor was told where she and the other generals were going, but was not allowed to tell anyone else. So far, she’s driven half of the cast up the walls when they ask where the generals were going to end up.
Just as the scene cuts when Lotor ends the  episode, his actor asks if he could crash on the paladins couch, to which they resounded with a big “no”.

Note
I think a while ago you talked about how Pidge would be a Beast Tamer in a fantasy setting and Keith seems to often get compared to a knight in the show (shield&sword for bayard, assigned the knight pieces in the comic, etc) and we all know Allura's a (fairy) princess. So, based on the common troupes/character traits with certain fantasy roles, what do you think Shiro, Lance, Hunk and Coran would be?
Honestly I’d argue that Keith’s not really what I’d put as a knight in a pure high fantasy setting, so, I’m just going to go with a lot of my sensibilities/rough abilities that I sorted them into in Hallowed AU:
Pidge: Rogue (Beast master)
Not much to say here. Pidge offsets her own relative lack of staying power, reach, etc. with stealth, maneuverability, and tricky properties. It’s very popular to make her a wizard, but I’ve always thought it’d be interesting, rather than giving Pidge a massive font of magical power, for her to have a few very limited little magics, things she hasn’t had enough time to study or the materials to perfect since she’s on the road and on a mission, but a lot of experimentation and little flash grenades and glamours and sharp daggers. And probably poisons, too, considering her canon affinity for plant life coupled with, in this continuity, a fondness for cute little guys that just might be a little bitey if you aren’t her friend.
But of course, her bag of tricks is limited by necessity- she herself is small, slight, and not really kitted out for direct engagements. In this sense, the kind of creatures she’s liable to befriend fit nicely- she usually goes for the small ones, with the exception of Green- and even she’s small, nimble, and stealthy compared to her brethren. Just imagine Pidge fitting her faithful companion and steed with a set of saddlebags to carry all kinds of equipment and reagents without fear of them falling out if they run into trouble suddenly and need to launch evasive maneuvers.
Keith: Spellsword (Dark sorcerer)
What’s the point of having a long lost bloodline if it doesn’t give you spooky magic, right? Also, in a high fantasy setting, Keith is just set out to be a wizard. Boy’s a glass cannon, through and through.
My personal favorite spin on this is the idea of Keith’s capabilities being overwhelmingly self-taught, framing him as both kind of a prodigy, and in an awkward position since his particular brand of magic is really not socially acceptable or in fact, usually practiced by good people. Which, again, as a self-taught vagrant in the middle of nowhere puts him in just a bit of a pickle to explain himself to well-meaning local law enforcement.
No, if anybody’s a knight in here, it’s....
Shiro: Paladin (Mounted warrior)
Give him a hand-and-a-half sword, a shield with a royal crest, and some spiffy armor and just watch this guy sit straighter and carry himself as befitting a Defender Of The Realm, Ally of Justice, basically a faux-medieval superhero. While I like to reimagine the Lions in a fantasy setting as steeds, I can imagine Shiro and Black having a unique bond where they’re the most likely to actively wield proper cavalry tactics and fight more together than apart. Not that the others don’t fight together, but Shiro having like... actual training and an education in battlefield tactics and why you don’t leap over your allies’ shield wall when your enemies all have spears and you don’t wear armor, Keith.
The thing about knights is more than just Some Guy With A Sword, there’s a pretty big deal in most high fantasy about honor. “Chivalry” literally comes from the same root as cavalry, and while all of the team arguably fights for a higher, more noble cause, Shiro’s the kind of guy who I can see pursuing a career that lets him really dedicate his life to that higher cause, because frankly, whether or not he had a liege to serve and a sword in his hand, he’d be making a stand against injustice anyway. That’s just the kind of guy he is, and when we have an obvious liege that would look favorably on that sort of thing, it’s pretty clear what the result is.
Lance: Bard (Longbow fighter)
Not only is Lance a quintessential support class- he very naturally and easily falls back to let other people shine and picks off enemies with rather fearsome precision from a cozy distance- he’s someone who loves people, and, frankly, has a rather effective way with them. No, he’s not the casanova he sort of pretends he is, but he’s an actor, a charmer, a showman, and specific to Hallowed AU, he might just have a pinch of supernatural assistance in that regard.
My first reflex as weapon of choice would be a crossbow, since it has a lovely silhouette very similar to canon Lance’s rifle, but the longbow spoke to me, because the thing about Lance, is he’s very not a prodigy. This is a major point of contrast between him and Keith- and yet on several occasions in canon, we’re shown that people who are hard to impress (Commander Iverson, and the Red Lion) find Lance worthy of standing where Keith, the actual prodigy, once stood. This tells us that Lance is a hard worker.
The longbow is a very difficult weapon- they say to train a longbowman, you start with his grandfather. That saying, for me, makes me want to put one in Lance’s hands in a fantasy setting for what it implies- about him, about his family. That he started young, that he likely hails from a family of, perhaps even generations of, archers. And of course he’s not going to say that, acknowledge training until his fingers bleed, or anything like that- he’ll goof off and show off- but there’s a certain obvious respect just him having that weapon and using it effectively and when he notches an arrow, draws that fairly heavy bow back, and fires with deadly accuracy.
Hunk: Fighter (Alchemist)
Hunk seems commonly sorted as a cleric and while I can appreciate that, I think personally Hunk doesn’t have the kind of patience to pursue a skill set where he can’t barge up to the thing chewing on his friends, who he is trying to keep healthy, thank you very much, and crack ‘em solidly in the teeth. He certainly has the muscle of a frontline fighter, and I can see Hunk wielding a simple, but sturdy crooked staff.
The real danger comes in the fact that while Pidge has a foot in the magical and the alchemical, higher education likely pointing to a more aristocratic background- I can see Hunk being someone of humble roots who, out of a combination of necessity and curiosity, learned how to fix, stitch, patch, scratch, and brew, just about everything.
Hunk who smugly goes “Yeah, well, I’m no wizard, but if all you need to knock a wall down,” lights the fuse on a homemade tied-off little packet and lobs it to a satisfyingly sized explosion, or who heard you were picking a fight and brewed up a batch of greek fire for the occasion. He’d probably leave the poisons to Pidge, though- someone who takes as much pride in the culinary arts as he does isn’t going to sully his cooking with anything if he can help it.
Allura: Mage Knight (multiple weapons)
Allura’s handiness with the bladed whip makes a lot of sense as athletic royalty who has the time and leisure to acquire unusual weapons and train with them heavily, though supplementing her more eclectic decision with something as ubiquitous and versatile as a pikestaff means that even caught unarmed, she only needs to lay hands on the nearest broom, or whatever other straight, sturdy piece of wood is around to be seized.
Her being a sacred princess possessing a grand holy power able to work miracles with the right setup frankly needs absolutely no modification for a high fantasy setting except more practice and proficiency in it given it’s more common and ubiquitous in this sort of world. As a personal addition for fun in this setting, the mice are full-tilt shapeshifters able to reconfigure themselves into different forms for Allura’s needs- able to be anything from horses to handmaidens to small but aggressive dragons.
Coran: Spymaster (swordsman)
I sort of like the idea of largely nonmagical Coran, following in the wake of magic using Alfor and Allura, and yet in a context where Allura would be surrounded by a proper royal court and a lot more attendants and advisers, I’d make changes to make sure Coran properly stands out himself- because really, he’s the royal family’s steadfast blade in the dark. If there is anything they need, he’s the kind of person they can trust absolutely.
And absolutely nobody is going to suspect the older, foppish nobleman loudly recounting the time he got peas stuck up his nose to a vaguely disquieted audience is an obstacle to an assassination plot until he very politely rests a blade against their jugular and informs them that they’re going to have a friendly little talk, over there, in the room full of surly guards, about trying to drop unapproved things in the princess’s drink.
Because frankly having quick reflexes, a keen eye, and a couple of shortswords hidden up your sleeves is a very fast route to being plentydangerous.

Dude, your mafia au gives me life. Cured my depression, cleared my skin, watered my crops, the whole nine yards. So......when's the next part? 😋 I need my mafioso Lance fix my dude
This Is just a filler! I just want to get something out!
Thesound of skin hitting another skin reverberated all over the room. Everyone wasshocked for what just happened seconds ago.
TeamVoltron more or less survived the ambush. Keith was bruised here and there butnothing that would be considered as something major. The Red Paladin just neededto disinfect his wounds and slap some bandages on it. Surprisingly, despiteKhanda being an obvious veteran fighter the guy still managed not to leave deepwounds on Keith’s body. But the feeling like he was a prey being played at willnever be forgotten. It was something…unnerving. Keith had been a Paladin for atotal five years and it means that he faced multiple battles with blood thirstyenemies. So for all reasons, he should have managed to at least land numeroushits on Khanda. It seemed now that Keith knows where Lance got his long rangebattle skills, Khanda always managed to maintain at least a few meters distancebetween the two of them. All Keith did was to deflect and when he got closeenough all he managed to do was to cut a few strands of Khanda’s hair. Afterthat, Khanda disarmed him and said, with that sickening sweet voice, that theyshould go back to the mansion with a smile.
Pidgewas literally roped around. It seems like her capturer was irritated at theGreen Paladin for cutting a portion of her skirt so as a revenge she seizedPidge by using the Green Paladin’s own bayard and another sturdy rope. But even tied up,Pidge had a smug look at her face. Maybe she was satisfied of ruining theattire of her capturer.
Hunkwas maybe the luckiest among them excluding Coran. He met one of the pacifistSalazar. But as they were walking towards the mansion, Hunk saw some poisonousplants that he could still recognized. When he asked about it the Salazarescorting him all said that she used it as her own preferred weapon.
Shiroand Allura were frazzled when the others saw them again. The both of them wereescorted by two teenagers who kept giggling and saying that they would like toplay again with the strong big sister and not so strong big brother.
Nowwhat was the source of the noise that made everyone stood still on their ownfeet?
Well, after they were escorted to what seemed like a common room, three more peopleentered. One was Lance that was for sure, the other was a man that badly needsa sleep based from the bags under his eyes, the last one was a woman who was afew inches smaller than Lance but she still managed to fill the room with acommanding aura.
Thatvery same woman walked towards Allura, smiled friendly at her which thePrincess returned, and then slapped the Altean without a warning which stunnedeveryone.
“You…”a venomous tone escaped the woman. If Allura was not still in shock she wouldhave probably already stood up from the sofa to defend herself, “…you daredkidnapped my Fratellino? For five whole years?”
“I’m…I’mnot sure what you mean—!” the woman backhanded Allura on the other side of hercheek. It was a slapped for the second time.
Shirolooked around. On one side, all of them from the team Voltron with theexemption of Lance were all tensed. On the other side, the Salazar’s were allsitting comfortably on their own spots. What was more confusing was that Lancewas just watching the scene like he was watching a soap opera judging by that Cheshirecat grin of his.
“My.Little. Brother. Lance. Salazar. Our. Fratellino.” Each word was accompanied bya jab of a finger straight to Allura’s chest. “Care to explain?”
“Falcata.”Shiro was about to stand up and help their Princess but he was stopped by adeep baritone voiced. The woman who slapped Allura shifted her eyes slightly tothe right in order to look at the man who chose to lean on the wall, “Stopthat, don’t abused our guests.”
“Abuse?Me?!” if Shiro was not focused to this Falcata person then he would havethought she said it in disbelief but he was staring at her and the crazed grinon her face says otherwise.
“Fratellois right, Falcata. At least let them say the side of their story. I can’t evenbelieve you made me summarized everything that happened in five years for justtwo hours.” Lance was lying on the sofa in front of the other Paladins and hishead as on top of Khanda’s lap. Said older Salazar was just happily combingLance’s hair with his right hand.
“Ican’t believe this!” Falcata turned around and addressed the Blue Paladindirectly who was now starting to release a purr like tone when Khanda startedusing his nails. “For five years and the first thing you do was to take Halberd’sside?!”
“Correction, the first thing I did was to answer your demand to have my teammates attackedby your men. Then make a summarizedreport to you.”
“Oooohhhh…”Sickle, as Shiro have gathered earlier, leaned forward and seemed likeexpecting more for the situation at hand, “Sassy Hermano is back!”
“SassyFratello is back!” Spear repeated but using another language for brother.
Falcatapuffed her cheeks before scoffing and crossing her arms in front of her chest, “Fine!Be like that!”
Theothers just laughed at her childish reaction while Halberd simply sighed.
“Ibelieve introductions are now in order.”
Wait? What? Just like that? They were already going to dismiss the fact that that Falcatawoman just slapped an alien Princess twice? Not just any Princess butthe one who basically governs one of the strongest weapon the universe had everseen? The Princess who was practically the commander of Lance, their brother?
“I’llstart, my name is Halberd Salazar. I’m the oldest child of Don Salazar.”Halberd straightened from his leaning position and looked at the Paladins thatclearly says: I’d rather not be here at all but here we are.
“Hmp!Falcata Salazar, Second child of Don Salzar.” She already took her seat on oneof the floral cushioned armchairs.
“Ciao~I’m Khanda Salazar! Third child!” he blew a kiss towards the Paladins and madeKeith scowl at this which in return made Lance snickered from amusement.
“FlyssaSalazar, fourth.” The woman who escorted Hunk uttered. Her voice was so soft asif she was not used speaking to such a large group. She was twisting hershoulder length blonde hair with her fingers and her blue eyes were dartingeverywhere. Her appearance had a lot of difference compared to the first threethat introduced themselves. Her skin was much lighter also and it was a bitdifficult to believe that they were all brothers and sisters.
“Well, you guys already know me but I am the fifth child!” Lance supplied from wherehe was lying.
“Mace.Sixth.” The woman hugging her knees next to Lance said but there was still apout on her face. It seemed like she was still holding a grudge to Pidge forruining her clothes. Now everyone could believe that she was Lance’s littlesister. She almost appear as the female version of Lance.
“Kalis, seventh.” It was the man who lead them to the room. He was albino and his redeyes plus his stoic attitude was enough for the rest to stay away from him fora while. At least until they were not sure that they were not going to beattacked again. Shiro wondered how many bullets was wasted just to give themsuch welcoming.
“Ciao!I’m Sickle!” the teenage boy stood up and raised his right hand like he wasanswering in a class.
“Hola!I’m Spear!” he repeated the gesture of his brother and now the two of them werestanding up.
Shirohas a feeling that they were partially not welcomed in this mansion.
Some info in thisAU:
Shiro: he came from afamily where majority of the members were related to investigations. Once or twicehe heard the name of Salazar’s and it was always accompanied by a question ifthey were friend or foe of the government.
Flyssa: She was anillegitimate child of Don Salazar but the others still see her as their sisterand not a brother. Because that was what Flyssa really feels and the otherswere ready to defend her.
Hunk: Lance kept babblingabout different Mafia Families that he was lead to believe that his friend wasjust obsessed about the topic. Oh how wrong he was.
