So uh, in From Eden part v, you mentioned that Tango was still a teen when he first encountered Atlas? How. How long was Tango imprisoned by Hels Tek? Bc that makes it sound like it’s been multiple years, unless Tango is younger I this AU or there were some time skips I missed..
ahhhh i can understand the confusion cuz admittedly, i play sorta fast and loose with ages? it has to do with my headcanon for how players age, and i’ve talked abt this before but lemme try to lay it out a bit clearer?
in my fictional interpretation of minecraft, players are created by the universe rather than being born to other players. players spawn in at about what we would call five years of age, in terms of physical appearance and mental development. in-game, it’s about the same as a baby villager; they can walk and talk immediately, with no infancy stage. they also have very strongly coded instincts, as well as information from their communicators, so they can learn how to mine and craft and all that jazz without another player teaching them.
from there, players will age through adolescence at a more normal yearly rate until they reach the ‘teenager’ years. i use teenager very loosely cuz if they spawn in at 5 years of age, a player who looks 16 will have only existed for 11 years. so their actual chronological age is different from their biological age, if that makes sense?
then, after the teenage years, players reach young adulthood and from here, things get quite variable. players will age up until a certain point and then just stop (because they’re functionally immortal). some players stop physically aging as soon as they reach adulthood, while some continue to middle aged or beyond before stopping, and this can occur at different rates. it’s very individual and unpredictable. you can have a player who appears 35 but is actually much older than a player who appears 50. amongst players, however, there isn’t a whole lot of difference socially between different stages of adults. there’s just baby (or kid), teen, and adult.
SO, back to tango. tango spawned in hels at the usual age, and was found by atlas when he was, let’s say, 16 (referring to biological age, not chronological). he was at hels tek for 2 years before escaping to hermitcraft (now 18, considered a young adult). and he was on hermitcraft for about 10 years before double life takes place. i’d say tango has stopped aging a few years before this point, so for the current timeline in hels to pay au, tango is biologically in his mid-twenties and is no longer physically aging.
now, i will say, tango didn’t spent the entire 2 years at hels tek actually inside the blaze farm. there’s a bit more to that story still to come…
i hope that all makes sense!!
